That’s right: we’re talking about Danganronpa, and it has been such a long time since the third installment was initially released to American fans.

For the unfamiliar, the Danganronpa franchise has three main games, namely Trigger Happy Havoc, Goodbye Despair, and Killing Harmony. However, many fans still want more out of this franchise, hoping for its creators to release another game. On the other hand, a portion of fans thinks the opposite, as they believe that there’s enough Danganronpa content out there.

No matter which side of the spectrum you’re in, fans collectively wonder whether a  Danganronpa 4 game will be released or if it ends with V3.

No Official Announcements Have Been Made Just Yet

You’ve probably come across countless clickbait articles revolving around the possibility of Danganronpa 4 or have read several fan theories about why another installment is being made. However, no matter how much you want to believe it, it’s best to manage your expectations for the time being.

Danganronpa V3’s Anniversary Edition Is Delayed

As mentioned, the mobile versions of Danganronpa 1 and 2’s anniversary editions were already released, but it seems that the anniversary edition for Danganronpa v3: Killing Harmony has been delayed indefinitely. According to the company’s apology statement, the mobile version of Killing Harmony had some kind of issue related to its mobile rendering. As a result, the game’s release had to be pushed back until further notice.

Since that initial announcement, Spike Chunsoft has been silent about Killing Harmony’s release. So, if there really will be a fourth installment, fans probably won’t hear anything about it at least until V3’s anniversary edition has been remedied and released.

Danganronpa Creator Released a Similar Title Recently

Danganronpa’s lead creator, Kazutoka Kodaka, worked together with Zero Escape’s lead creator, Kotaro Uchikoshi, to develop a brand-new game that was recently released in Japan. This game, entitled World’s End Club, takes players and traps them in an underwater theme park. The players are then required to participate in “A Game of Fate.”

So far, positive reviews have been flooding this new game, but at this moment in time, we can’t tell if Kodaka chooses to pursue this new storyline instead of returning and expanding the world of Danganronpa.

Spike Chunsoft May Be Prioritizing Its New 3D RPG

Spike Chunsoft fans are aware that the company is currently working on a brand-new game entitled Made in the Abyss: Binary Star Falling Into Darkness. Unlike Danganronpa, this new title is a 3D RPG, and it’s expected to be released some time in 2022 on Steam, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4. In Spike Chunsoft’s announcement, this new game is actually based on a dark fantasy manga and anime by Akihito Tsukushi entitled Made in Abyss.

If this 3D RPG gains popularity and rakes in money, there’s always a chance that Spike Chunsoft will begin to set its focus on this fresh storyline.

Danganronpa V3 Was Intended to Be a Finale

From what we know, Kodaka actually wrote Danganronpa V3 wanting it to be the final game in the series. As a matter of fact, players discovered at the end of V3 that the game wasn’t about the Killing Games’ third installment like they’d initially thought. Instead, Danganronpa V3 was following the 53rd installment—the V in the title actually represented the roman number 50.

The last game’s conclusion also broke the fourth wall, as the survivors of the Killing Games begged the player to choose “Hope.” Other than that, they also wanted the player to destroy the academy so that the Killing Games can finally come to an end.

Spin-off Games Are a Solid Option

That being said, even if Danganronpa V3 is officially the last title in the main storyline, this doesn’t mean that Kodaka and Spike Chunsoft won’t entertain the idea of spin-offs. After all, they’ve done this in the past too with the release of the action-adventure spin-off entitled Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls.

Perhaps the team could create a spin-off series following the life of any of the main characters before or after Hope’s Peak. There’s a lot of potential for a spin-off series, so we shouldn’t have to say goodbye to the franchise just yet.

Danganronpa Runs the Risk of Going Stale

No matter how popular a franchise may be, whether it’s a TV series or a video game series, there’s always a chance that it will overstay its welcome if they run for too long, and Danganronpa also runs this risk. The Danganronpa games’ success relies heavily on the mysteriousness of the plot in order for the visual novel aspect of the game to move along.

Boarding School Juliet is a rom-com anime series that—just like many other series—is based on a manga series with the same title. This manga series, which was written and illustrated by Yōsuke Kaneda, was serialized in 2015 in the Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine. However, by 2017, it was transferred over to the Weekly Shōnen Magazine. Because of its popularity and potential, Kodansha decided to publish a light novel based on the manga in the same year.

The following year, renowned animation studio Liden Films picked up Boarding School Juliet and adapted it into an anime series. The first season was first aired in October 2018, and many fans of the manga praised the anime series for being faithful to its source material. Given how popular the first season was, you’d expect that it would be renewed for a second season. However, even today, fans are still patiently waiting for any news regarding season 2.

What Is the Anime About?

As you’ve probably inferred from its title, Boarding School Juliet is a love story that was inspired by William Shakespeare’s famous Romeo and Juliet play. In this case, instead of two feuding families living in Verona, Boarding School Juliet’s stage is set in a prestigious boarding school known as Dahlia Academy. However, this school is attended by students from two clashing nations.

On one side, we have the “White Cats” from the Principality of West. On the other side, we have the “Black Doggies” from the Eastern Nation of Touwa. Just like Romeo and Juliet, Boarding School Juliet follows the growing yet forbidden love between two students from different sides: Juliet Persia and Romio Inuzuka.

What makes the situation even more difficult is that Romio is the dorm leader of Touwa’s first-year students. On the other hand, Juliet is the dorm leader of the first-year Principality students. Naturally, both characters have to pretend that they hate each other when what they feel is the complete opposite—they’re terribly and hopelessly in love with one another.

But of course, given their current situation, it seems that their love will never blossom into anything more than just a secret. Because if their respective comrades find out the truth, they’ll risk losing their respect and allegiances. As such, both Romio and Juliet must tread carefully, unless they want to suffer the consequences of their forbidden love.

Who Are the Characters?

Boarding School Juliet has many recurring characters, but we’ll only provide a brief summary of the two lovebirds, Romio and Juliet. As always, the sections ahead may have possible spoilers, so be wary of that if you haven’t watched the anime series yet.

Romio Inuzuka

Romio Inuzuka is the male main character of the romantic-comedy anime series, Boarding School Juliet. He’s physically strong and his outer personality also displays that facade. Deep down, however, he’s a hopeless romantic who’s in love with the Principality’s Juliet Persia, his supposed arch-nemesis. In fact, he has loved her since they were kids, and he secretly protected her whenever the students from the two opposing nations had a feud.

Despite his strong feelings towards Juliet, Romio is terribly awkward. As such, he struggles to let Juliet know of his ever-growing feelings towards her. Romio also isn’t very good academically, and he has a difficult time keeping up with his studies at the academy.

Juliet Persia

Juliet Persia is the first-year Principality students’ dorm leader. As such, they hold her in high regard. Juliet is actually the only descendant of a Persian noble family of the Principality. However, their family risks losing its status as a noble due to the fact that it doesn’t have a male heir. Because of this discriminatory tradition, Juliet promised herself that she would be as smart and as strong as a man.

Unlike Romio, Juliet didn’t already have feelings for him since childhood. In fact, she was quite dismissive of him at first and even thought of him as her arch-nemesis due to their nation’s feud. But as time goes on, she begins to fall in love with Romio and doesn’t try to hide it from him.

When they finally start dating each other, Juliet pretends to be a middle school Touwa boy named Julio so that they could be seen together without arousing suspicion from the other students. After all, no one was allowed to know about their secret romance.

Is There Any News About Season 2?

Until now, there’s still no news whether Boarding School Juliet will be getting a second season. However, there’s no need to fret. Think about it this way: the first season of Boarding School Juliet had 12 episodes and ran from October 2018 through December 2018. Now, the manga series currently has 14 tankōbon volumes, which means that there’s still a plethora of source material left for a season 2, if the producers choose to pick up the show again.

However, the one thing that stands in the way of fans possibly getting a second season is finances. You see, despite its popularity, Boarding School Juliet didn’t really collect a lot of money from the DVD and Blu-Ray sales. As for Emily, she grapples with Richard’s death and decides to sell the Gilmore home to move to Nantucket.

Now, the drama begins at the end of the last episode. Lorelai and Rory are sitting at the gazebo where Lorelai got married, and Rory spits out some shocking news: she reveals that she’s pregnant. Yes, you read that right!

Unfortunately, the miniseries doesn’t reveal who the father is, and this is why Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life is a major cliffhanger that fans just can’t accept. Before the show ends, Rory gets a breakup text from Paul, the guy she was dating, but we never actually see him in any episode. You can even say he’s irrelevant. There’s Potential for a Second Season

At the moment, Netflix still hasn’t mentioned or announced a season 2 of Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life. However, there’s still a tiny chance that we’ll be getting one. After all, Netflix’s co-CEO and chief content officer, Ted Sarandos, was very impressed with how Gilmore Girls have been such a success and he’s holding the door open for the possibility of a sequel.

In fact, he said during the UK’s press association in 2017 that they’re hoping for more installments. On the other hand, Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino, her husband and TV partner, has a multi-year deal over at Amazon at the moment. If or when that time comes, of course, we expect both Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel to once again be stars of the show. After all, these two fantastic actresses are pretty much the heart of Gilmore Girls, and it would be impossible to have a second revival without Lorelai and Rory reprising their roles.

Of course, we also expect Kelly Bishop to reprise her role as Emily Gilmore, as we can’t have a Gilmore Girls show without the Gilmore girls arguing and making up. Despite Ayato’s excitement and enthusiasm at transferring to this academy, things don’t go as well as he’d expected during his first days when he accidentally stumbles upon Julis-Alexia von Riessfeld, who happened to be undressing at that moment. Because of this, he gets challenged to a duel. Fortunately, Claudia Enfield, Seidoukan Academy’s student council president, stopped the fight prematurely before any real damage could be done. Even though Ayato and Julis had a rough first meeting, they eventually become close friends.

Later in, it’s revealed that Ayato isn’t actually interested in the tournaments or Festas. Instead, he only joined Seidoukan because he wanted to investigate his sister’s disappearance, who was once a student at the same academy. However, since he’s enrolled in a Genestella academy, Ayato has no choice but to participate in the Festas. And so, both Julis and Ayato participate in several Festas over the course of the show while simultaneously trying to find out what happened to Ayato’s sister.

Claudia Enfield is another fearsome fighter in the academy and is also the student council president. In fact, she has held that position since she was in middle school, as she has considerable influence given the fact that she’s the daughter of one of Integrated Enterprise Foundation’s esteemed members.

Kirin Toudou

Kirin Todou is yet another important character in The Asterisk War. She’s the eldest daughter of the Todou family; as such, she has had training in their family’s fighting style. When Kirin was a young girl, a robber kidnapped her, and while her father was able to kill the robber and save her, he ended up imprisoned because of that.
