PVP Live has been sharing insights and guides about the biggest games, at least according to most players. But we’ve also posted some cool stuff on games like “Sons of the Forest.” Head over here for those stories.
In “Sons of the Forest,” one of the things you can loot is the Rebreather. This equipment allows you to see all of what the game’s map has to offer, as well as dive underwater and explore it without drowning, then find some other crucial items, such as the Shovel.
Let’s break down everything you need to know about finding and getting this Rebreather.
First Things First
Okay, so before anything else, first and foremost, you must find the cave as shown on the game’s map. Let’s call this Cave A, which is located in the island’s northern region.
If you get lucky, you can spawn here as you begin the game. If your map-reading skills do not serve you, the cave is located by the ocean, proximate to the beach. A sign that you are in this location is when you see some bodies skewered on the shoreline. Seriously.
From this beach, proceed to the forest, and you will see an alcove with yellow-colored cans outside it. If you are arriving at the beach from a different direction, look out where it meets the water, and these cans float in the water. Use the map to spot the entrance.
Note that this entrance will be boarded up, so get ready with your axe to chop down the boards so you can get this. Press E to squeeze yourself. Now, you’re in the cave.
Within The Beach Cave
Inside this cave, it’s eerily dark, but that’s okay. Use L to equip your lighter. Or, make your torch using a Stick and a Cloth. But, find those items first before heading to this cave, of course.
As you reach inside, you will first see a flashing red light from a laptop nearby and a tiny light to the right. Please proceed to the computer, interact with it, and discover the Entertainment Bunker’s location. This shall then be added to your GPS Map, identified with a blue-colored marker showing a television.
There are likewise a few cases here that you can loot, as well as general resources from around, including nine-millimeter Ammunition and Flares.
Now, don’t forget this: Be sure to grab the Air Tank from the laptop’s right side. You’ll need it for the Rebreather later.
This time, proceed to the right side of this first section, where you will find two bodies, together with some nine-millimeter Ammunition. You may get The Sunset Times newspaper clipping by the second body. This clipping will be important as you progress into the game.
Continue further into this cave until you get to that area illuminated blue. You’ll also see a small light pointing in the direction where you will proceed further. Beware of the bats! Crouch and go forward until you reach the low ceiling. You’ll pass by some hanging skeletons in the cave’s next section.
From here, simply follow the linear pathway that will take you to another lit-up room with a floating rubber ring. Just pass by them, and you’ll get to two enemies, the first opponents you’ll meet in this cave.
Not prepared? Don’t worry. You don’t need to battle with these enemies. You can simply run by them. Then, you’ll find the path splitting into two. The left path leads to the Rebreather, but “Sons of the Forest” game experts recommend you proceed to the right path first, where you’ll collect the Stun Gun and Artifact.
The Path To The Right
As you commence your way through the right-side path, the Stun Gun can be found from a hanging body. The path’s first part is narrow and linear, but just keep following that line. Note that you’ll pass by a body on the left side and enter a vast open space to see more hanging skeletons. There are also breakable boxes around.
Then, you’ll also come across mutants. Like the enemies from earlier, you can just run past them if you can’t fight them. You’ll then proceed to the section’s end. Some crosses will appear as you arrive at the section of the cave, where you’ll find some stalagmites with a dead body slumped against them.
The Stun Gun
Even if you watch walkthrough videos on YouTube of this tutorial, those videos will also teach you how to get the Stun Gun. Proceed right. Then, you will hear a Radio playing. You may collect this. Beneath, there is a laptop. This path takes you to a dead end, but you’ll find the Stun Gun from a hanging body.
This Time, The Artifact
Be sure you keep a note of what’s needed for the Rebreather. Or make a mental imprint. Next, you need to get the Artifact.
Go back to the area where the body was slumped, then proceed to the left. You will find more crosses and some boards. Break through them to spot a hole you must climb down using a rope. At the bottom, you will see more breakable boxes and a path. Follow this path, and shortly, you will arrive in the area with an enormous rock with skeletons nearby, where the path splits yet again. This shall bring you to a dead end with more boxes. The Artifact is easy to see from where.
Proceed Left Once More
Okay, now, you will find a tiny alcove you will need to crouch under, with some crosses hanging from the top. Go past them, then past the body parts and skeletons. Your landmark here will be an area of the cave that looks like splitting, then another dead end. Once you see this, go left.
Before you move forward, check by the skeletons, and you will find a Blueprint of a cross just beneath them. On the right, another box and more boards will block the entrance further. Smash them to continue.
Proceed left at the end of this room, then hop onto the rocks. Look for a hole leading down the cave. Some metal structures will tell you you’re on the correct path for the Artifact. Proceed into the room to see this with electricity around it.
Now, it’s time for the Rebeather. Go back to the first initial fork along the path.
The Path To The Left
Once you’re there, you will find several left vests floating in the water, and when you do, you know you are going the right way.
Proceed to the room you see, go right, and crouch to reach the cave’s next section. Simply follow the tunnel until you get into the room lit up with some blue hues.
Down below, you’ll find a light and several limbs strewn along. First, proceed to the left, but take extra caution so you won’t fall into the water. Those limbs are just some of the many stuff you can collect here. You don’t want to fall into the water as there’s a giant shark there. Now, return toward the path’s beginning, then proceed to the path to the right.
Follow a tiny path, bringing you to a location where you can pick up a few additional resources and, of course, the Rebreather. Once you have the Rebreather, use it to dive in the water and exit the cave.
