Pikachu is like the brand ambassador of the entire “Pokémon.” Actually, he is officially the image of the franchise. Pickahu is all over the media – animes, movies, games, clothing, household items, gadgets, and even Oreo cookies. So, to find out that Pikachu isn’t one of the most popular Pokémons, according to research, is quite saddening.
But it’s true. Some research show that the adorable yellow pocket monster is not the most popular, and even not included in their top 10 list.
Pickahu Not The Most Popular Pokémon
According to Solitaire Bliss, the most popular Pokémon is Charizard, followed by Gardevoir and Sylveon in the second and third places, respectively.
It is interesting to note that Solitaire Bliss does not have a hint of Pikachu on their top 10 list of the most popular Pokémons, which include Lucario, Gengar, Umbreon, Garchomp, Mimikyu, Rayquaza, and Greninja. Where could Pikachu be?
The researchers gathered and analyzed search data from Google, Yahoo! and Bing to determine which creatures would be on the list.
The most popular Pokémon, Charizard, has over 240,000 combined monthly searches on those search engines. He is followed by Gardevoir, with over 158,000 monthly searches on Yahoo!, Google, and Bing.
In third place is the Fairy-type Pokémon Sylveon, with over 137,000 average monthly searches on those search engines.
Even The Researchers Are Suprised
Of course, “Pokémon” fans demanded an explanation for this chaos.
Spokespeople from Solitaire Bliss told the media that they, too, were surprised that Pikachu didn’t make it to the top 10.
“This character has become so synonymous with the brand, even to those who have never played video games or watched the shows,” they said. “But it’s always good to see Pokémons from all generations gain popularity, that’s what it’s all about. Enjoying all of the Pokéverse, every character, every game, every episode, and just admiring what an impressive body of work it is and continues to be.”
Pikachu Not The Most Beloved, Too
Another platform, the electronic retailer Ebuyer, revealed a list of the most well-loved Pokémons and declared Charmander in the number one spot. Pikachu isn’t the most well-loved Pokémon and not on the second, third, and following places, either, which Pokémons like Squirtle and Bulbasaur enjoy.
