Niantic has been regularly releasing updates for Pokemon Go since it was initially launched in 2016. In terms of updates and new content, players almost always expect the developer to release either a new item or a new Pokemon to capture.
On the other hand, other players expect an update to contain a new Shiny Pokemon, a change in the egg pool, or perhaps a brand-new Raid Boss. Since the mobile game has been out for so many years now, fans no longer expect Niantic to release any significant changes or additions to the game’s core structure or gameplay.
As such, this is why this newly-datamined information has caused a buzz in the Pokemon Go community. You see, a group of prominent dataminers who go by the name PokeMiners on Twitter has discovered something while poking through Pokemon Go’s game files.
According to their findings, Niantic will be including a new quality of life improvement to the AR mobile title. If you go to your inventory and long-press on a Pokemon, you will be given a quick glimpse of the Pokemon’s HP and its moves.

If proven to be true, this improvement will definitely boost Pokemon Go’s gameplay because Trainers, at the moment, don’t have an efficient way to review what kind of moves their Pokemon currently has.
For instance, if you want to check whether or not the Tyranitar you’ve captured knows the moves Bite or Stone Edge, you would first have to go to the stat page of that specific Pokemon.
As you can imagine, this takes up a lot of time, which is something that you don’t always have especially when it comes to time-sensitive Raid Battles. As such, you end up wasting precious time checking the individual stats when you could have spent it on choosing your teammates.
Fortunately, it appears that Niantic has finally heard the fans’ request, and Pokemon Trainers will finally have the chance to quickly check their Pokemon’s information. If you’re not exactly sure what “long pressing” means, this is simply when you hold down a button in-game with your finger.
In other words, all you have to do is hold down your Pokemon of choice for a few seconds and you will be able to see its HP and different moves.
From what we can see in PokeMiners’ short clip, you can do this when selecting your party members. This means that you should be able to conveniently check your Pokemon’s stats via this feature when you’re preparing for battle.
That being said, it doesn’t appear that Niantic has any other major changes arranged for the future of Pokemon Go asides from this one. Even the game’s Pokemon and Egg Inventory menus haven’t been updated since its release. As such, any kind of change made to Pokemon Go’s interface will be wholeheartedly embraced.
In any case, it’s best to take this information with a grain of salt, given the fact that it’s only a leak and could be proven to be untrue at any time.
