Outside of the mainline of games, there is a lot more Resident Evil stuff for fans to interact with. There are various ways for fans to enjoy the franchise, from books to movies to the numerous offshoot titles, and Resident Evil: The Board Game was revealed earlier this week.
Resident Evil: The Board Game, developed by Steamforged Games, is a tabletop recreation of the events of the original Resident Evil game. The board game was revealed on Tuesday, and a Kickstarter campaign for it will launch later this autumn, with Steamforged promising that it will be “unlike any” previous campaign supporters have seen.
Although there isn’t any information regarding Resident Evil: The Board Game yet, based on its one-minute announcement trailer, it appears to include numerous characters from the game’s plot as well as a slew of zombies to roam the hallways of the Spencer Mansion. The tabletop game will be able to be played by one to four people, with games lasting approximately 90 minutes, according to its listing on the Steamforged Games website.
Steamforged Games has a few more Resident Evil tabletop adventures that could spark the attention of people who are waiting for Resident Evil: The Board Game to be out. Resident Evil 2: The Board Game is already available, and it appears to play similarly to the original game’s upcoming tabletop adaptation. Meanwhile, Resident Evil 3: The Board Game is available for pre-order and will be released in late October.
Horizon: Zero Dawn, Devil May Cry 5, Monster Hunter World, and Dark Souls are just a few of the tabletop games made by Steamforged based on video games. Those opting for a faster, card-based experience will find plenty of alternatives with the company’s card games for Pac-Man, Dark Souls, and Sonic the Hedgehog, among others.
The latest installment in the Resident Evil franchise, Resident Evil Village, has been a strong contender for Game of the Year. Fans of the genre may look forward to Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, a feature film that will revive the RE film franchise and recreate the original two game titles’ tales. The film is slated to hit theaters in November, and early set photographs suggest that it will be a faithful adaptation of the video games.
