Square Enix’s presence at Tokyo Game Show Online 2021 has been known for some time, but what it will be exhibiting has remained a mystery. However, Square Enix’s intentions have been disclosed, revealing an exciting event for its fans, thanks to a slew of updates.
Since 1996, the Tokyo Game Show has been the main Japanese game convention. The annual event takes place in Makuhari Messe, with this year’s exhibition combining live and digital presentations. The Tokyo Game Show 2021 schedule was just announced, including the numerous developers that will be in attendance as well as when fans may watch them. Square Enix offered a brief description of the event, stating that it will feature previously announced titles as well as some new ones, but no more details were provided.
Square Enix’s website has been updated to give more information on their participation at Tokyo Game Show Online 2021. Beginning with the games that will be displayed, there are a number of confirmed titles that fans have already seen:
- Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin
- Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy
- Forspoken
- Final Fantasy 7: The First Soldier
- Project TRIANGLE STRATEGY
- Collection OF SaGa Final Fantasy Legend
- Final Fantasy Brave Exvius
- War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius
Stranger of Paradise, the intriguing hack-and-slash Final Fantasy prequel, and The First Soldier, the strange Final Fantasy 7 battle royale, appear to have a lot to look forward to. Following the stunning Forspoken teaser that unveiled more of the game’s environment and combat at PlayStation Showcase 2021, it will be great to see more of it in action.
Then there’s Square Enix’s timetable, which shows that the business will be broadcasting content throughout TGS Online 2021. Fans may witness the opening “Square Enix Presents” show on Friday, October 1, followed by a “Lounge Jam” focused on Square Enix’s music, and lastly, a presentation on Forspoken.
Following the release of the new Guardians of the Galaxy teaser, the game will debut on Square Enix Presents Day 2 on Saturday, October 2, with Stranger of Paradise following later in the day. On Sunday, October 3, Square Enix will conclude TGS Online 2021 with a unique livestream devoted to The First Soldier to cap off the event.
With all it has revealed, Square Enix appears to be going all-in at this year’s TGS 2021. Furthermore, there are still more announcements and games to come. It would be great to see Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2 or Final Fantasy 16, especially since it was last seen at the PS5 launch, but it is probably better not to get one’s expectations up. One thing to wish for is that other businesses follow Square Enix’s lead and reveal their TGS intentions.
