The Unova Fire starter Tepig will be the next Pokémon GO community day, according to reports. Because the fiery swine was the third Fire/Fighting starter three generations in a row, the Tepig line isn’t popular among starters, but every pig has its day in the mobile ARG.
The Dragon/Ground Pokémon Gible was the focus of Pokémon GO’s Community Day in June. Gible is typically a difficult Pokémon to get in the game, but the June 6 community day made it possible for users to catch Gible that learned the move Earth Power easily.
As with other Community Days, the super-rare Shiny Gible will be made freely available. Starter Pokémon are also more uncommon in both the mainstream games and Pokémon GO. The more newcomers from each generation enter Niantic’s smartphone game, the more difficult it becomes to capture them all.
Niantic has announced that Tepig will be the focus of Community Day in July 2021, which will take place on July 3 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time. Tepig will know Blast Burn as a special move if he is captured on that day, and there will be a purchasable special research job and Community Day box, as normal. Lure modules and Incenses will also last up to three hours, and the amount of Stardust gained from catching Pokémon will be double.
After Snivy, this is the second Unova starting Pokémon to get a community day. With the exception of Charmander Community Day in October 2020, all of the pre-Gen V starting Pokémon have had community days named after them, and their special moves are always Frenzy Plant, Blast Burn, and Hydro Cannon (according to their respective type). If the trend continues, Oshawott will eventually have a Community Day devoted to it a few months down the road.
This community day arrives at a difficult time in Pokémon GO’s history, with debate raging over the game’s decision to roll back more of the pandemic’s modifications. Supporters who are unhappy with the new modifications are still agitating, but this event has the potential to bring fans together through the game.
After all, similar to the game’s first peak in 2016, these events do manage to gather together enthusiasts for the sole purpose of catching a certain Pokémon. Tepig, the second of the Unova starters, will be the objective in Pokémon GO on July 3.
