What fans can expect during the September PlayStation 5 Showcase event

In a shocking announcement, Sony has scheduled the next PlayStation 5 Showcase event this Wednesday, September 16, 2020. Fans are expecting a lot from this event but we have a few guesses on what might be featured during the upcoming PlayStation 5 event.

In-depth information on specs

The next-gen consoles are all about the specs. Even if Sony has already revealed the specs of the PlayStation 5 a few months ago, fans are still expecting to see a deeper look at how the console operates. Hopefully, fans may get more actual gameplay footage of the PlayStation 5 running during the event.

Price and release date

Fans have waited long enough for the announcement of the PlayStation 5’s price and release date. Microsoft has already made their move and revealed the prices of its next-gen consoles last week. Fans are now expecting that Sony will follow suit. There is not much reason for Sony to delay the announcement now.

If Sony does reveal the price and release date of the PlayStation 5 this Wednesday, it will most likely reveal when the preorders will start too. A few analysts have predicted that Sony’s next-gen console will be priced around a $500 range, similar to the Xbox Series X. However, it’s really hard to tell since the console really has undergone several major upgrades.

PlayStation 5 Launch Titles

Once the PlayStation 5’s price and the release date is revealed, it’s certain that fans will also receive news about the games launching alongside the next-gen console. Knowing what launch titles are available will help drive preorders for both the console and the game. As of writing, there are only a couple of launch titles confirmed for the PlayStation 5.

One game launching alongside the PlayStation 5 is Godfall – a new IP being developed by Gearbox Software. It is quite similar to Destiny but with so much more depth to it. Aside from Godfall, there’s also a long list of third-party games launching alongside the console including Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Astro’s Playroom.
