Windbound: An Open-World Survival Game Perfect for Legend of Zelda Fanatics

Windbound, an open-world survival game by developers 5 Lives Studios, has officially been launched today. So far, what we can say is that it’s a beautiful combination of Minecraft, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, as well as Moana by Disney.

You play as Kara, a warrior who has lost her memory and who has strayed away from her tribe. Eventually, you find yourself stranded on the Forbidden Islands, a very mysterious yet idyllic land.

Windbound has multiple chapters, and each one has you explore and discover more and more of the island’s secrets. For each chapter, your mission is to find three obelisks which will open up a portal to the next chapter. All the while, you have to figure out a way to manage Kara’s hunger and health.

Fortunately, you can scavenge and hunt in order for you to survive. You can even look for materials you can use to upgrade your weapons and tools. Here are some of the key features of Windbound, as listed on its Steam page:

  • Explore As Far As The Eye Can See
Head towards the horizon, advancing across the islands, each with their own diverse wildlife, landscapes and challenges to face.
  • Live Off The Land
Scavenge the islands’ untamed terrain for resources that you can use to craft a full range of tools and weapons to hunt wildlife and upgrade your boat. You must set sail when resources become scarce.
  • Build Your Perfect Seacraft
Your boat is your key companion on this journey, carefully craft your own custom sailing vessel to take on the treacherous waters, traversing from one island to the next. Design your boat to battle tempestuous winds, monstrous waves, and deadly sea creatures.

Windbound is now available for purchase on multiple gaming storefronts such as the Nintendo Switch, Steam, Xbox, and Epic Games Store.
