For more reasons than one, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity has rapidly turned into one of the most highly-anticipated games to be released this year. Nintendo has been steadily teasing us with trailers and content, but the game as a whole is still shrouded in a lot of mystery and many fans still have numerous unanswered questions about the title.
That being said, one reason why fans of the Legend of Zelda franchise have been looking forward to this upcoming title is mostly due to the fact that Age of Calamity is appealing to different kinds of fans.
More specifically, players of the previous title Breath of the Wild will find intriguing backstory in Age of Calamity. On the other hand, it’s also considered as the sequel to the original Hyrule Warriors game. In other words, it’s both a sequel and a prequel to different games.
Fans could see a lot of potential in the first Hyrule Warriors title, but sadly, many players felt like the game just wasn’t able to follow through and they were left disappointed. With Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, the spin-off series finally gets another chance to prove itself to the fans.
What’s more, this Hyrule Warriors sequel will be a perfect avenue for Nintendo to further explore Legend of Zelda’s crossover with Dynasty Warriors. The game looks pretty large-scale as well, that’s why fans have been so absorbed by the trailers that Nintendo has been steadily releasing.
That being said, Breath of the Wild is significantly more popular than Dynasty Warriors, so we expect that more people will be more familiar with the former rather than the latter. As such, the merging of these two games that differ from each other has definitely been intriguing to so many.
From what Nintendo has revealed so far, we know that Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity will still be using the same map from Breath of the Wild. What wasn’t revealed until now, however, is that other features of that map will also be present in the upcoming hack and slash title.
More specifically, Hestu and the Koroks will be returning, according to the game’s latest trailer.
If you’re a long-time Legend of Zelda fan, you’re sure to be familiar with the Koroks. In Breath of the Wild, these adorable creatures hid themselves throughout Hyrule and rewarded you with Deku Nuts if you were able to find them.
Based on the trailer, it seems that one of the Koroks pop out of a damaged box, so it’s safe to say that the hiding mechanic of these creatures will still be present. Hestu, on the other hand, was the Koroks’ big brother to whom you delivered your Deku Nuts to in exchange for the expansion of your inventory.
Now, it appears that Hestu will be making his way to Age of Calamity as well, with fully-voice acted lines to boot. Given the fact that Hestu is one of the most-loved characters in the franchise, his addition is just another reason why fans are excited for the game’s release.
That being said, the trailer hasn’t confirmed Hestu’s role in Age of Calamity, but we already have an idea. Since Hestu and the Koroks will be present in the game, we expect the Deku Nut system to return as well. As such, it’s highly likely that Hestu will continue his old role from Breath of the Wild.
