Adidas’ latest and greatest collaboration – a line of special Xbox-themed shoes created to commemorate the console brand’s 20th anniversary – has gamers and sneakerheads alike ecstatic. While the first model of the highly anticipated collaboration, an homage to the original Xbox, was already revealed, Adidas is now revealing a first look at the next pair, modeled after the fan-favorite Xbox 360.

The two massive brands collaborating was first reported in May of this year, with Complex citing anonymous sources to say Adidas would release Xbox-branded shoes in June. The anonymous sources were correct, though the timing was possibly off by a few months.

The Xbox 360 Forum Mid shoes, which are currently only available on Adidas’ Canadian website, are a sight to behold. As the name suggests, the new design is inspired by the Xbox 360 and is based on Adidas’ popular Forum Mid model.

The 360’s light electric green sole appears on the shoe’s sole, while the console’s bright white body appears on the shoe’s upper. The upper straps of the Xbox 360 Forum Mids are emblazoned with the silver disc drive slot, paying homage to the system’s components as well. The iconic Xbox logo below the ankle, in its 360-era incarnation, ties the look together.

The Xbox 360 Forum Mid shoes are priced at C$200 (approximately $160 USD) and will be available on October 30. The shoes join the Xbox 20th Forum Tech sneakers, which were announced just a few days ago, to form a dynamic footwear line.

The Xbox 20th Forum Tech shoes are a vibrant green with black paneling and translucent highlights throughout, as opposed to the Xbox 360 Forum Mids. The models are far from the last Adidas will release, with Xbox’s Marketing Manager stating that additional shoes honoring Xbox’s legacy will be released “over the next few months.”

Capcom finally confirmed the details surrounding Monster Hunter Rise’s upcoming PC port late last month. The most recent entry in the once-niche action-RPG series debuted on the Switch in March 2021 and will remain an exclusive title until the PC port is released in January. Because it’s on PC, the Monster Hunter Rise port will include customizable controls, 4K resolution, uncapped framerates, high-resolution textures, and a few other extras.

Although the PC port of Monster Hunter Rise appears to have a lot going for it, Capcom has just announced that a fan-requested feature will not be included in the PC version of the game, which may irritate some die-hard series fans.

Capcom confirmed today on the official Monster Hunter Twitter account that when Monster Hunter Rise launches on PC next year, it will not support cross-play or cross-save. There will also be no way to transfer save data between platforms, forcing players to restart their progress once the PC version is released.

Despite fan requests to include this feature in the PC port, Capcom is “unable to implement [crossplay and crossave] at this time.” This is also true for the new Monster Hunter Rise expansion, which will be released next summer, as Sunbreak will not include these desired features.

Fortnite has become one of gaming’s most popular crossover experiences in recent years, with playable skins of popular characters from a variety of video games, comic books, movies, and TV shows appearing in Epic’s massively successful battle royale shooter.

Travis Scott and Ariana Grande, both real-life celebrities, have joined in on the fun, hosting visually stunning virtual concerts in Fortnite to great effect. Meanwhile, back in July, rumors circulated that another Walking Dead character would be joining Darryl and Michonne in Fortnite, and this has now been confirmed just in time for Halloween.

According to PCGamesN, Fortnite’s official Twitter account has just confirmed that Rick Grimes from The Walking Dead is now available as a playable character skin for 1500 V-Bucks. A bundle of Walking Dead-themed gear, including a walker club, backpack, and even a fiery crashing satellite glider – as well as an alternate, jacket-wearing Rick Grimes skin – is available for a higher price of 1900 V-Bucks.

Also returning are the previously available Darryl Dixon and Michonne character and gear packs, which can be purchased separately or as part of a discounted bundle for 2500 V-Bucks. The new Rick Grimes content, on the other hand, will have to be purchased separately.

This new Walking Dead character skin, as previously stated, coincides with Fortnite’s month-long Fortnitemares event, an annual Halloween celebration that adds new monster-themed skins and events throughout October.

The new Frankenstein’s Monster, Curdle Scream Leader, and Mummy skins, as well as the return of Fortnite’s Shortnitemares film festival, are among this year’s spooktacular festivities. Season 8’s attack on The Cubes, which began immediately after Season 7’s alien invasion, will also be continued in Fornitemares 2021.

Rick Grimes hasn’t been seen on The Walking Dead since Andrew Lincoln left in 2018, but he remains a popular and notable character among fans of both the show and the award-winning Image Comics series on which it is based, making him a great addition to Fortnite alongside his fellow survivors Darryl and Michonne. Starting today, players can enter the creepy battle royale as Rick, with even more frightful content likely to arrive in Fortnite as this month’s Fortnitemares event continues.

PlayStation Play At Home Initiative Has 60 Million Games Redeemed

During last year’s COVID-19 lockdowns, more people stayed at home and played video games, benefiting PlayStation’s Play At Home initiative, which saw up to 60 million games redeemed and downloaded. The Play At Home initiative, which debuted in April of last year, served as Sony’s response to free giveaways from the Epic Game Store, allowing players to download and keep certain high-quality PlayStation exclusives with no strings attached for a limited time.

After a strong start with titles such as Journey and Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, Play At Home has gained a lot of attention in recent months by featuring blockbuster titles such as Horizon: Zero Dawn and 2016’s Ratchet & Clank, and has even managed to raise money for promising indie developers in the process.

Although the Play At Home program did not distribute full games during its most recent giveaway in May, free DLC content and in-game currency were available for multiplayer games such as NBA 2K21 and Brawlhalla.

In a recent interview with GamesIndustry, Sony CEO and president Jim Ryan revealed that the Play At Home initiative, which was launched last April to provide gamers with free content during the difficult COVID-19 pandemic, has resulted in over 60 million games being redeemed since its inception.

“As everyone was struggling with the first lockdown, it occurred to us that this would be a nice thing to do.” We were able to do it, and we were very pleased with the response,” Ryan said during the interview, describing how the Play At Home giveaways were carried out in two waves over the past two years. “And then we got through Christmas, and we went back into lockdown, and everyone… it was a bit miserable.”

We thought it would be nice to do it again.” He concluded by speculating that if the complications and lockdowns from COVID-19 continue into next year, Sony may bring back the Play At Home initiative for a third round of giveaways in 2022.

Indeed, the COVID-19 pandemic led to an increase in the number of people playing video games, with the World Health Organization even recommending gaming as a good pastime during last year’s lengthy lockdowns. With players staying away from brick-and-mortar gaming stores and lacking the funds to purchase games online, it fell to free offerings from the Epic Games Store to provide players with interactive entertainment during the long months of 2020 – despite the fact that these free giveaways cost Epic a significant amount of money to implement.

During the long and worrying COVID-19 lockdowns, PlayStation’s Play At Home program certainly helped players by providing them with polished PlayStation exclusives like Horizon: Zero Dawn and Uncharted for free. There’s no word on whether Sony will give away more free content in the coming months, but it’s certainly possible given the success of previous waves.
