The Pokemon Company and Canon Collaborate to Release Pikachu Camera

0
screenshot-cweb-canon-jp-2020-10-02-16_16_05

In an unexpected collaboration, The Pokemon Company and Canon have partnered together to create a one-of-a-kind Pokemon-themed camera called the Canon iNSPiC Rec Pikachu. As the name suggests, the camera will feature the adorable and iconic Pikachu, but other Pokemon will be making a cameo appearance as well.

Even though Pikachu isn’t the sole focus of every story that’s set in the Pokemon world, it’s safe to say that Pikachu just might be one of the most popular creatures in the franchise. This is most likely due to the fact that Pikachu is pretty much present in almost every episode of the Pokemon animated series. After all, he was the first-ever partner Pokemon of Ash in the anime.

As such, it’s quite common for the adorable pocket monster to make guest appearances in other aspects outside of video games. For instance, there’s the Pi!car! project led by Toyota, which is basically a Pikachu-themed car that features cutting-edge technology.

Now, we have the soon-to-be-released Pikachu camera. The Canon iNSPiC Rec Pikachu comes in the color yellow, with a Pikachu in the front and a red dial situated on the back which is supposed to look like the cheek of Pikachu.

screenshot-cweb-canon-jp-2020-10-02-17_05_25

That being said, if you don’t like the default Pikachu design for some reason, there’s a couple of faceplates you can choose from which features not only Pikachu, but other iconic Pokemon as well like Raichu and Pichu.

What’s interesting, though, is the fact that the unique Alolan Raichu isn’t featured in the faceplates. What’s so great about this camera is the fact that it has a Canon Mini Cam smartphone app that you can connect it to. This allows you to share your pictures with friends, family, and other photography enthusiasts.

It’s definitely worth noting that this camera is only available in Japan right now and sadly, there is no news about an international release at the moment. This isn’t really that surprising, though, since it’s common for exclusive Pokemon items to be released in specific countries or regions only.

One other example we can think of is the giant stuffed Snorlax plushies that were released in Thailand.

As mentioned, the camera comes with faceplates but each owner will receive a randomized set. More specifically, every owner will receive the default Pikachu faceplate, but the other two faceplates will be randomly chosen from the eight options.

That being said, we wouldn’t be surprised if there are some fans that would feel frustrated that Pikachu is the only Pokemon that keeps getting recognition. For example, those fans of Pokemon from Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield only get the Galar starters in the faceplates.

Not only that but since the faceplates you receive are random, there really is no way for you to guarantee that you will be able to receive a faceplate that you want.

In any case, this collaboration could be a good indication that The Pokemon Company is ready to wholeheartedly accept photography as a major part of the franchise. After all, fans are looking forward to the New Pokemon Snap that is set to release on the Switch.

Free Super Mario 35 Battle Royale Released For The Nintendo Switch

Super Mario 35 is now available for download on the Nintendo Switch which allows up to 35 players to battle each other in a classic Mario gameplay and it’s all for free.

This year’s 35th-anniversary celebrations for the Super Mario franchise includes the remaster of Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury and the recently launched Super Mario 3D All-Stars which has brought the classic games Super Mario 64, Super Mario Galaxy, and Super Mario Sunshine to the Nintendo Switch with mostly successful results.

Other exciting announcements made this year also includes several Mario-inspired variations of board games from Hasbro such as Jenga and Monopoly, and Nintendo has even revealed a future collaboration with Illumination Studios – the creators of the hit movie series Despicable Me – for a new animated Mario movie set to release in 2022 which it expects to do better compared to the previous venture of bringing its most popular character to the silver screen.

In the middle of this excitement, fans could easily forget about Super Mario 35 – a competitive Tetris 99-like game which was released simultaneously with Super Mario 3D All-Stars.

A few hours ago, Nintendo disclosed that Super Mario 35 is now available to download for free on the Nintendo Switch, although it will require players a membership to the Nintendo Switch Online service. The official website of Nintendo describes the game as “Super Mario Bros. with a 35-player twist,” as fans battle against each other in traditional Super Mario stages while attempting to attack enemies with the franchise’s iconic power-ups and shells from the original 1985 game.

In addition to this, there are also daily tasks that players can accomplish to gain in-game currency and exclusive battles where special conditions can be included in the celebration. Fans are hyped with this new concept of a Super Mario battle royale and have expressed excitement and interest, although this happiness has been mitigated by the fact that Super Mario 3D All-Stars and Super Mario 35 will only be available for a limited amount of time.

Despite the controversy surrounding this, it looks like the upcoming anniversary event for the Super Mario franchise is paying Nintendo some dividends since it has been recently announced that the Nintendo Switch broke sales records for game consoles in the US for August.

With this in mind, and the mustachioed Nintendo character’s 35th-anniversary celebrations in full swing, the new game Super Mario 35 looks like it will be giving fans a lot of fun times while testing their Mario platformer skills against other online players in a quick-paced online battle royale especially since the game is all for free.

Nintendo Switch Online subscribers can now download the game today until March 31, 2021, only for the Nintendo Switch. First-timers can try the service for free for 7 days. A month of subscription will cost $4, three months at $8, and a year at $20. Probably the best subscription to choose is the family plan which costs $35 per year and caters to eight players with free Nintendo Accounts. Players who want to play Switch games online will have to sign up with the subscription service anyway.

New Amnesia: Rebirth Gameplay Trailer Features Puzzle Solving Mechanic

To further hype up the upcoming release of Amnesia: Rebirth, developer Frictional Games released a brand-new gameplay trailer showcasing what kind of features and changes you can expect from the sequel of the highly-acclaimed 2010 horror title.

Rebirth may be the second game in the Amnesia franchise, but it’s the only direct sequel at the moment. The other sequel was called A Machine For Pigs, but this one was set in an alternate universe with a different set of characters.

On the other hand, Rebirth will have you continue playing as Tasi Trianon, but this time she’ll be traversing through the Algerian desert. Just like Amnesia: The Dark Descent, you have to help Trianon figure out why she is where she is by solving puzzles, which is a trademark in the franchise.

That being said, the developers are committed to providing an all-new aspect to psychological horror in this upcoming title.

screenshot-www-youtube-com-2020-10-02-15_22_45

During an interview with IGN, Creative Director Thomas Grip said that you can expect the game’s impact to be the same as the previous title, however, you should also get ready to question yourself and your views outside of the game.

What the developers wanted was for Rebirth to induce feelings of dread that slowly creep up and stay with you as you progress through the game. It’s definitely not as graphically astounding as the other upcoming titles, but Rebirth is expected to provide you with an all-new experience that you won’t forget.

For one thing, you can expect your gameplay experience to be anxiety-inducing and heart-pounding, as Rebirth focuses on themes of delusion and confusion. Frictional Games admitted that some of the decisions they’ve made for the game have been risky, just like what they’ve done in their other game SOMA.

However, they have no regrets because the risks they’ve made have led to the results they wanted, which was to leave a lasting impression on the players the way The Dark Descent did years ago.

ss_ab7f026b9935fe7683becc1eea9bd7ff0a8e3833-1920x1080-1084548

Grip also says that they worked hard to ensure that the players and the main character Trianon will be able to form a bond, as the creative director says that Tasi’s character is “integral for making it all come through.”

In any case, despite the changes made to the game, Frictional Games has ensured that Amnesia: Rebirth will still provide fans with the same Amnesia experience that made the franchise so beloved.

That being said, there’s so much to look forward to this October, as Amnesia: Rebirth isn’t the only game that’s being released this month. For instance, there’s the upcoming game Under that’s scheduled to launch this Halloween 2020, which is a title that took inspiration from the famous P.T. by Hideo Kojima.

There’s also The Dark Pictures: Little Hope, which is the second game in Supermassive’s horror anthology series. This title is scheduled to launch one day before Halloween.

In other words, horror lovers don’t have to worry about running out of games to play this month because there’s definitely a bunch of content you can binge on.

Borderlands 3 Brings Back Bloody Harvest Event

The final expansion for Borderland 3’s season pass has been released, and right now, fans don’t really know what to expect for the game’s future updates. Until Gearbox releases more information about the title’s future content, players can distract themselves for now by re-experiencing Borderland 3’s Bloody Harvest event this month.

Gearbox made the announcement on Twitter, and even though it didn’t provide a concrete launch date for the Halloween-themed event, the tweet did vaguely say that the event will take place “next week.”

The tweet also doesn’t provide a lot of information, except for confirming that Captain Haunt and the Rakk-O-Lantern enemies will be brought back into the game once more. Fans will surely jump at the chance to play Bloody Harvest again, especially those who missed out on the event the first time and weren’t able to get the exclusive powerful grenade.

The post doesn’t say anything about new event content as well. However, it does confirm that more information is on the way as Gearbox asks fans to “stay tuned for more.” As such, we’re holding on to the possibility that the developers will be announcing new skins and loot for this event.

screenshot-www-youtube-com-2020-10-02-13_43_54

Doing so would definitely be a good move for Gearbox, especially since fans have been disappointed in the recent offerings of Borderlands 3 and its DLC packs, so much so that players have been wondering if the season pass was even worth it.

It’s also possible that Gearbox won’t make any changes to the Bloody Harvest event, providing the same exact features and prizes that the original run had. Dedicated fans have pretty much already found everything there is to find within Psycho Krieg and the Fantastic Fustercluck.

For instance, they have already discovered the SpongeBob Easter eggs, as well as found four of the best DLC legendaries. As such, fans are looking forward to new Borderlands 3 content.

It would definitely be interesting to see when Gearbox will be releasing new content that’s meatier than a seasonal event again. In line with that, it has been confirmed that the next big update for the title will be released some time this year.

This upcoming update is said to focus on providing a skill tree to every Borderlands 3 vault hunter. So, we’re intrigued to see what Gearbox will do for the meantime in order to fill the time between that big update and the Halloween event.

https://twitter.com/GearboxOfficial/status/1311697749885190146?s=20

Although there’s still a lot of room for potential abilities like Amara’s fourth skill tree, for example, the release could be impacted negatively if there are no new quests to complete or new loot to hunt down and obtain.

Players still have a bunch of unanswered concerns about the title’s story as well as the developer’s future plans. We can only hope that after the Bloody Harvest event ends once more, Gearbox will reveal more details about what they have planned for the future of Borderlands 3.

For those players who haven’t finished the Krieg DLC just yet, we recommend that you keep a lookout for a secret room inside Vaulthalla.

Although, you should catch up on the game’s post-launch content as soon as possible since the Halloween event is fast approaching and it might have a bunch of new content.

New Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC Fighter Is From Minecraft

Fans of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate have been holding their breath waiting for the announcement of the next DLC fighter for Fighters Pass Vol. 2. Now, Nintendo has finally confirmed who it’s going to be.

The announcement pretty much broke the internet, as many fans were shaken by the fact that Steve from Minecraft is the next DLC fighter, which is another Xbox-owned character. Along with Steve is a couple of other characters in the form of alternate skins.

Nintendo announced the addition of Steve from Minecraft through an action-packed trailer that featured Mario, who is in the middle of a fight with other Super Smash Bros. Ultimate characters.

As the battle gets intense, Mario is knocked into what looks like a completely different dimension and comes face to face with Steve himself. As showcased in the trailer, many Minecraft elements, such as eating meat, placing blocks, and more, are being incorporated into the gameplay mechanics of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

screenshot-www-youtube-com-2020-10-02-12_20_16

Among other things, the trailer also showcases the different alternate skins available for Steve. One of the skins is that of Alex, another character from Minecraft, as well as some mobs like Zombie and Enderman.

Sadly, Nintendo didn’t really provide fans with more information about Steve from Minecraft’s gameplay mechanics, as well as when the new DLC fighter will be released. However, game director Masahiro Sakurai did confirm that there will be another presentation that will take place on October 3.

The presentation will take place during the Minecraft Live event, in a portion called Fighting With Steve and Alex. As mentioned before, this wouldn’t be the first time that an Xbox-owned character has made its way to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

In a previous DLC, Banjo and Kazooie were added to the crossover fighting game, which was actually far more surprising of an announcement than this one.

screenshot-www-youtube-com-2020-10-02-13_15_52

Despite the fact that Minecraft is owned by Microsoft and Xbox, this blocky sandbox video game has always had a major presence on so many gaming systems such as Nintendo and PlayStation consoles.

That being said, Steve from Minecraft’s arrival to the Super Smash Bros. Universe has actually been rumored for quite some time now. The gossip started in a 5Channel leak, which is a Japanese textboard that also accurately predicted the inclusion of Erdrick from Dragon Quest to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

There were other characters named in that leak as well, namely Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden and DOOM Guy from Doom. However, Nintendo hasn’t made any announcements regarding those two just yet.

On the other hand, it’s also possible that Erdrick and Steve’s additions to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate are purely coincidental. After all, these two characters are iconic in the video game community and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is all about bringing in popular gaming characters.

In any case, there are still Fighters Pass Vol. 2 characters that Nintendo hasn’t announced yet, so there’s still time for the other 5Channel leaks to be proven correct. For now, we just have to wait and see.

New Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Screenshots Showcase Urbosa’s Gameplay

It has almost been a month since Nintendo revealed Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity and during that time, excited fans have been offered countless new information and details about the game.

In fact, the Nintendo of America Twitter account showed off new gameplay screenshots of one of Age of Calamity’s playable characters just recently.

In the Legend of Zelda franchise’s timeline, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is set before the events of Breath of the Wild. As such, fans are curious to see how the game’s narrative will fit in the previous game’s established plot.

On the other side of the spectrum, other fans are excited to experience the Dynasty Warriors-style gameplay once again. Hyrule Warriors also has a bunch of familiar playable characters for you to choose from, providing you with a decent amount when it comes to variety.

Most of these playable characters are those heroes who battled against Calamity Ganon many, many years before Breath of the Wild. One of those heroes is Urbosa, the champion of Gerudo.

screenshot-www-youtube-com-2020-10-02-10_45_22

In a tweet posted today, Nintendo officially revealed gameplay screenshots showing Urbosa in action. We’re impressed by what we can see, as it looks like the Gerudo champion has a pretty powerful move-set.

Just like in Breath of the Wild, Urbosa will be making use of lightning abilities. The ability to defeat dozens of enemies with a lightning strike will surely be satisfying to many players. Not only that, but Age of Calamity will have a local co-op mode, making it easier to take out enemies while having fun with friends at the same time.

Fans don’t have to wait that long to experience this Breath of the Wild prequel, too. Despite the fact that the game was announced fairly recently, about less than a month ago, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is set to be released this November 20.

That being said, there’s still a lot of details about the title that Nintendo has yet to announce, especially since it’s releasing in a little over a month. Recently, the company has also revealed that Impa would be another playable character.

So far, Nintendo has been doing a good job at steadily maintaining the hype for Age of Calamity and we’re definitely interested to see what else the game has in store for us fans. Another aspect of the game we’re interested in is the narrative.

As mentioned, the upcoming game will be set years before Breath of the Wild. As such, this could impact the story in various interesting ways and will provide much-needed context to the events that take place in Breath of the Wild itself.

screenshot-www-youtube-com-2020-10-02-11_52_24 screenshot-www-youtube-com-2020-10-02-11_51_32

Hopefully, this entry of Hyrule Warriors will tie the franchise’s narrative together. This also brings exciting implications for Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, although we will have to wait indefinitely for Nintendo to release more details on that.

In any case, Legend of Zelda has always been a well-loved franchise and we’re so proud to see how just how far the series has come – from its first 1986 2-D entry for the Famicon to its current installment with its high-quality graphics.

Blizzard Delays World of Warcraft: Shadowlands

0
screenshot_full_-_cinematic_4

Blizzard has announced that it will be further delaying Shadowlands, the upcoming expansion for World of Warcraft. During Gamescom 2020, the company confirmed that World of Warcraft: Shadowlands was scheduled to be released in late October.

However, this is unfortunately no longer the case, as the company now plans to release it later within the year. Although on the bright side, the first pre-patch for the expansion will be launched on October 13.

Blizzard took to Twitter to explain why they had to delay Shadowlands. In the statement, the company says that the team has been “listening to” and “building upon” the feedback of the players. After all, Blizzard hasn’t shied away from revealing various details about the expansion to the public.

screenshot_full_-_tower_1-2177212

As such, Blizzard goes on to say that they have come to realize that they “need a little more time” to keep on working on Shadowlands. During this extra time, the developers plan to polish, balance, and iterate some parts of the expansion.

Just like many other studios this time around, Blizzard admits that Shadowlands’ development has also been affected partly because of the coronavirus pandemic and the work from home policies.

The company says that the expansion’s development was already complex and intricate to start with, and due to COVID-19, tweaking and fine-tuning the endgame was made even more difficult.

That being said, Blizzard commits itself to making sure that the expansion “lives up to its full potential” now that the developers have extra time to work on the game.

Blizzard doesn’t specify which part of Shadowlands it will be going over again due to player feedback. One possible aspect they could be iterating is the Covenant system, which has received a lot of criticism from the avid World of Warcraft players.

To be more specific, fans have criticized the way abilities are linked to certain Covenants. As such, players who min-max are forced to choose a Covenant they don’t really like just to get a certain ability. Although game director Ion Hazzikostas has previously said that this is a feature that won’t be changing any time soon.

However, as mentioned, Blizzard has made an attempt to lessen the players’ frustrations by releasing the expansion’s pre-patch on October 13. Shadowlands‘ first pre-patch will include the highly-awaited level crunch.

Actually, the pre-patch has been on Blizzard’s public testing servers for quite a while now. Without a doubt, players are definitely looking forward to it, especially those alt-levers.

screenshot_full_-_bastion_2-9843980

At the moment, Blizzard hasn’t given out a new release date yet, but it will certainly release more information regarding the expansion’s launch as soon as it’s ready to. All we know so far is that Blizzard will delay the expansion to a later date from its original October 27 release date.

The company is still evaluating when the new release date should be, and it’s highly possible that this will all depend on what the developers are working on to make the game better.

It’s likely that Shadowlands will be released in December rather than November, but since there really is no guarantee from the studio, anything is possible for now.

Some of the Most Addictive Online Games in 2020

A picture containing person, computer, person, computer Description automatically generated

Each year the gaming industry is creating and publishing new content. New games flooding the market are vastly diverse, bringing fresh content and exciting new opportunities. Some of those games manage to attract quite a fanbase. And more often than not, these fans continue to return to the game even years after it first came out.

The main reason these games are able to reach such a success is their unique and original content. But other reasons, such as post-release content, regular patches and excellent support also play a huge role. To prove a point, we’ve selected some of the games that were released well before 2020 but still hold their place in terms of popularity. Definitely make sure to grab a cheap glass bong for sale from an online headshop like Everything for 420 to get in the zone!

Overwatch

This hero-based first-person shooter came out way back in 2016. Since then, however, the content of this extremely engaging game only continued to evolve. With such a plethora of playing styles, this game rallied up a community of players who simply didn’t want to let it go. The addictive gameplay and amazing graphics are just some of the things that kept this game alive for so long. The community behind Overwatch created numerous subreddits and discords, as well as an ever-growing Wiki page. Since they’ve recognized what they’ve managed to accomplish, the game developers announced Overwatch 2. Keep in mind, however, that Overwatch 2 will probably be an entirely different game. However, that doesn’t stop current players from enjoying this amazing game.

Fortnite

There are plenty of gamers that simply roll their eyes when Fortnite is mentioned. But that doesn’t change the fact that it became almost an overnight phenomenon. Released in 2017, Fortnite managed to reach 78.3 active players in just three short years. Aside from the enticing gameplay and amazing visual effects, players also get to enjoy regular tweaks. With the content that’s constantly growing and evolving, players simply can’t seem to get enough of this game.

CS: GO

A real blast from the past, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is still going strong. Ever since 2012 when it was first released, CS: GO managed to attract a wide variety of players. No matter if you prefer competitive or casual gaming, CS: GO has got your back. Moreover, CS: GO has become one of the most popular competitive esports games. What this means is that the game not only offers fun but also an opportunity to monetize your gaming skills. This, aside from gameplay, is one of the key reasons CS: GO will probably stick around for many years to come.

Guild Wars 2

When it first came out in 2012, Guild Wars 2 was titled the “WoW killer”. And considering the success WoW still has to this day, this was a pretty big thing. To this day, GW2 still boasts amazing 1.5 million active players, which is simply awesome for an MMORPG. The team behind GW2 is constantly working to deliver new content and actually listen to their player’s feedback. However, there have been some issues GW2 had with their loot boxes. In the game, players can purchase Black Lion Keys – with real-life money – that are used to open Black Lion Chests. These chests contain random prizes and are RNG based. That’s why some countries banned this option. Since similar types of loot boxes in gaming usually require real currency, some countries feel like purchasing them goes against their gambling laws. Regardless of the fact, the GW2 community is still going strong and players are looking forward to the newly-announced expansion.

World of Warcraft

The mother of all MMORPGs, World of Warcraft is certainly the oldest game on our list. Even though it was released back in 2004, WoW counts well over 7 million active players to this day. Considering the 15 years of constant updates, it becomes quite clear why this game is still very popular. The community of players widely ranges in age, with even some players introducing their own children to this amazing game. Unless the devs suddenly decide to abandon ship, it’s safe to assume that players will be able to enjoy WoW for many years to come.

League of Legends

Last but certainly not least comes League of Legends, or LoL for short. Released back in 2009, LoL was called the successor of DOTA2. And even though DOTA2 is still thriving, the title of the most popular MOBA belongs to LoL now. With 115 million active monthly players and 146 distinct champions to choose from, players simply fell in love with this game. The 5v5 combat mode requires skill and team play, which is probably why this game managed to build such a strong community. And thanks to the developers who tweak the game frequently, the meta is also constantly changing.

If you’ve noticed one thing all of these games have in common, that’s probably a strong community behind them. Developers who manage to create a game that encourages such behavior can rest assured knowing that they did good. The more engaging and challenging the game is, the more positive feedback it will receive. And not only that, but you can rest assured that it will be enjoyed long after its original release.

Bungie Brings Back Double Rewards for Destiny 2’s Nightfall Strikes

1
screenshot-www-bungie-net-2020-10-02-08_36_46

Bungie released another “This Week At Bungie” news update, which mostly contained details on what you can expect once the Festival of the Lost event goes live. However, this Halloween-themed event isn’t the only thing that’s making a comeback in Destiny 2, as Bungie has also revealed that double rewards for Nightfall strikes will be making a return.

This wouldn’t be the first time that Destiny 2 has given double the rewards to players when doing specific Nightfall strikes. In fact, this increased loot was only made available to the game some time in mid-September.

As such, we expect that many players will be more interested in jumping into the game’s most challenging activities, given the fact that double rewards are returning around the same time as the Halloween event.

However, it’s worth noting that these double rewards won’t be offered to all Nightfall strikes in Destiny 2, but specifically only to Nightfall: The Ordeal. In other words, basic difficulties will not be giving out the same kind of rewards.

On the bright side, The Ordeal has matchmaking difficulties, which leads to solo players still having access to these activities and the increased bonuses that come with them. Given the fact that some of the rewards you can obtain are really important when it comes to customizing and upgrading weapons and gear, receiving double rewards can be a huge help.

In these Nightfall: The Ordeal strikes, you will be offered a steady rate of drops for not only enhancement prisms, but for ascendant shards as well. These two items are considered to be very important because with them, you will be able to obtain and upgrade Masterwork gear.

This means that if you’re the type of player who wants only the best kind of gear when playing Destiny 2, you should definitely take advantage of these double rewards. You want to make sure that you have as many of these materials and resources as possible, as these will go a long way if you want to upgrade the new weapons and armor coming with Beyond Light.

In any case, double rewards are always welcome and appreciated for any game that’s similar to Destiny 2, where there are tons of resources and season pass rewards to obtain if you want access to the constantly-growing list of loot.

The release date of the Beyond Light expansion is fast approaching and with this new update, players now have even more reason to try their hand at the Nightfall playlists. This is especially so if they want to complete their collections before Bungie starts removing gear.

Since the next expansion will encourage players to start grinding once again, it will definitely be beneficial to you if you already have a headstart by having a collection of enhancement prisms and ascendant shards.

In fact, this just might be the edge you’ll need if you want to start going through the new content that Destiny 2: Beyond Light has to offer.

Speaking of the DLC, Bungie has revealed that pre-loads of Beyond Light will be released on November 9. So, definitely mark your calendars for that.

Tips on making travel look good in your resume

The notion of considering travel just a hobby still prevails among many people. But what if there was a way to leverage travel into acquiring a stellar job and making it shine on a resume.

Traveling is an eye-opening experience for a person which many are afraid of pursuing. Through traveling, one can go on to gain new knowledge and change their perspective of the world.

If done correctly, traveling can work as an addendum to your list of skills. So, that is what we will cover.

Let’s begin and understand how to make traveling look good on your resume.

Include skills learned through traveling

You can add skills that you learned throughout your traveling experience. Let’s say you spend a few months traveling through Europe and familiarize yourself with the French language.

Also, when you are traveling to a foreign country, your soft skills matter a lot. For instance, your interpersonal and communication skills may define how well you get along with the local population.

The point is that through your traveling experience, you can gain a concrete understanding of what skills to put in a resume in terms of linguistic skills, leadership, communication, etc. If you refer to the online resume templates, you will see that not one of them is missing the skills sections.

Work exchange experience

Work exchange is about utilizing your skills and knowledge to get accommodation while traveling. It is also known as voluntourism.

For voluntourism, all you need to do is find someone who is looking for help and lend them a hand. In return, they will help you with accommodation, food, and other perks.

You can offer your services to NGOs, hotels, or small businesses. There are online portals such as Helpstay that you can utilize to look for a work-exchange job.

At times we like to travel just for fun and even though it has immense benefits it does little to help your professional career. But work exchange experience helps you showcase your skills that can be useful to the employer.

Take account of the career break

Sure traveling enhanced your skills and changed your outlook towards the world. But if you did not do anything constructive in terms of work experience, there will still be a gap in your professional career.

That’s why you should focus more on your skills rather than listing your work profiles in a chronological format.

You should choose a functional format where you can make a separate section “summary of skills” to describe your skills and expertise.

Make it relevant to the target profile

Your traveling experience is irrelevant if it has no significance to the job you are targeting. To make travel shine on your resume, we advise you to go through the job description and understand the job requirements.

For instance, the recruiter may be looking for someone who is bilingual or has great communication skills. You can utilize such pointers and showcase your linguistic & communication skills.

You should try connecting each statement you write in your resume to the target profile so that the recruiter can understand the relevant skills you gained through traveling.

Where to add your travel experience in a resume

If you worked while traveling then we advise you to add it to the profile experience section. This will help you showcase your traveling experience as an actual work profile. Also, if you were doing freelance work then treat it as professional experience. However, for volunteering work, create a separate section as it is not exactly counted as work experience.

Add your language skills in a separate section as well. Name it as “Languages” and add all your linguistic proficiencies there.

Further, the idea is that you need to showcase your traveling experience in a professional tone. Hence, try to sprinkle it throughout the resume wherever you can rather than creating a special travel section. Include transferable proficiencies to the skill section. Add pointers related to travel in the resume summary/objective.

Key Takeaways

Here are a few key takeaways:

  • Add all the skills you learned during traveling along with your linguistic skills.
  • Include volunteer experiences during your journey to hide gaps in your resume.
  • Choose a functional format if you do have a break in your professional career.
  • Only add the experience that is relevant to your target profile.
  • Do not create a separate section to add your traveling experience.
