’90s Classic FPS ‘Rise of the Triad’ Will Be Getting a Remaster

Rise of the Triad, a classic FPS game from 1995, will be getting a Remaster next year. This was announced during 3D Realms’ digital Realms Deep 2020 event. Unfortunately, the announcement didn’t come with screenshots or even gameplay footage, but a PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch release has been confirmed for 2021.

Rise of the Triad was a hit back then, despite the fact that countless other FPS games were also on the rise, such as Doom and Castle Wolfenstein. That said, the game pretty much follows the basic gameplay structure of those other FPS games.

In this game, you are a part of a special operative team called H.U.N.T (High-Risk United Nations Taskforce) and you have to investigate possible terrorist activity. As the player, you have to find keys in order to unlock specific doors, as well as pick up ammo, health, weapons, and more along the way.

The game also features five playable characters, and what’s so interesting about Rise of the Triad is the fact that you have enemies who would beg for their lives. For this remastered version, it’s been confirmed that it will include mechanics and features that are expected in a 2020 FPS game.

For instance, this means that widescreen support for the more modern monitors will be included, as well as online functionality for the game’s somewhat ancient multiplayer mode. However, this will still retain the classic Rise of the Triad experience – only more modernized.

3D Realms, Destructive Creations, and Apogee Software will be the ones collaborating on this remaster, and as mentioned, it is scheduled to launch this 2021 on multiple gaming systems.

The very first patch for Marvel’s Avengers since its release has gone live, and with it comes tweaks regarding stabilization as well as some bug fixes. According to Steam’s dev blog, the information they’ve gathered from the Early Access led them to believe that stability is an important aspect that they need to focus on for their brand-new patch.

That said, the patch will supposedly be applied automatically as soon as you start your game. Other fixes in this patch are the following:

Among the other bug fixes that they included in the update is the Challenge Card Progress bug. There was a bug in Marvel’s Avengers that prevented players from gaining progress in Hero Challenges Card, however, this has since been fixed.

For this issue, the players would find that there was no progress in their Challenge Cards even though they successfully finished the challenges for each hero. As a result, there was a delay in them receiving rewards. Understandably, this bug left quite a few players frustrated.

Fortunately, Crystal Dynamics has announced on their Twitter account that they have successfully fixed the bug.

For more context, the Challenge Cards is Marvel’s Avengers’ version of battle passes. You have the option to earn rewards for free by doing the challenges successfully, but you can also access the premium tier by paying via Credits, which is their in-game currency.

On another note, Crystal Dynamics has also confirmed in a response to another Twitter user that they are currently working on a fix regarding the game’s skins. At the moment, there’s a reported glitch wherein players don’t receive the skin they have purchased.

Since the release of Marvel’s Avengers, there have been bugs and glitches that have appeared here and there. Fortunately, the game’s devs seem to be on top of it all. Rest assured that they will definitely release a fix for everything sooner or later.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered

Recently, players of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered have been having trouble with the online multiplayer aspect of the game, with Australia and New Zealand receiving the brunt of the issue.

The connection issue for players in Australia and New Zealand has been so bad that the game will only connect you for 30 seconds before disconnecting, according to Vooks. The issue didn’t only affect the Nintendo Switch version, but the iOS, Android, and PlayStation 4 versions were having trouble, too.

Since the discovery of the connection issue during its launch on the 27th of August, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered has since been removed from both the Nintendo Switch eShop as well as the PlayStation Store in Australia.

Square Enix has also released a statement on the official Final Fantasy Twitter account:

If you try to look for the game yourself in Australia’s browser-based eShop, you will only find an Error Code: 9001-1670 as well as text saying “This content is currently unavailable.”

However, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered is somehow still available for both download and purchase on the App Store and Play Store.

2 Minutes in Space

2 Minutes in Space is a popular mobile game by indie game studio Rarepixels, and those playing on iOS devices will be receiving an exciting update this 2020. In fact, it’s going to be the biggest update so far, as stated on a press release.

For those who don’t know, 2 Minutes in Space is a free-to-play survival game that’s currently available to play on iOS and Android devices. In this game, you control a range of fleets and survival must be ensured, despite the many challenges thrown your way in the form of asteroids, missiles, nebulas, and more.

These obstacles will hurt you one way or another i.e. the nebulas will slow you down, while asteroids will destroy your fleet. As you can see, avoiding these is a must. You won’t be doing everything on your own, though – you have superpowers to help you as well as ammunition.

You might ask, “What’s new?” Well, the recent update for iOS has brought with it pretty exciting content. For one thing, you now have a brand-new personal naval fleet. This means that you no longer have to be so alone as you journey through space, as 7 different ships will now be accompanying you wherever you go.

A cargo ship, medical frigate, and a carrier will be there to assist you throughout your mission, while small shuttles will be there to shoot down enemies. However, this doesn’t mean you should put your guards down – the game hasn’t gotten easier.

As a matter of fact, Rarepixels has made the game even more challenging. Your fleet will also be damaged by missiles and other collisions, which will result in huge and painful explosions. This will cause some space wreckage, and you have to watch out for debris that could potentially hurt you.

The new update has also added brand-new localization, and you can now play 2 Minutes in Space in Japanese, Korean, or Chinese. This latest update has only been released on iOS, but hopefully, Android devices will be able to experience this awesome update as well.

For more information regarding 2 Minutes in Space, you can check out the official Rarepixels website.

Electronic Arts Apologizes for Real-World UFC 4 Ads In-Game

Recently, EA Sports released a UFC 4 update that was not for the best. On the PS4 and Xbox One, real-world ads have been added and what’s worse, these ads can’t be skipped or even avoided.

When UFC 4 was initially released, it received acclaim from both players and reviews. It also featured in-game ads, but it was appropriate and was true to the game during that time around. However, about more or less a month post-release, intrusive real-world ads started showing up while you’re playing.

The UFC community over at Reddit is more than displeased, as this blatant cash-grab ad placement not only takes up the entirety of your screen, but it also disrupts your gameplay. One Redditor posted a sample, which you can see below:

Look at the amount of times that an ad appears in the middle of gameplay, this is unacceptable for a $60 game and disgusting to add in an update after I already purchased the game. from EASportsUFC

These posts have garnered attention, and EA has since apologized as well as removed this in-game feature. An EA Team Member has issued a statement over at Reddit, which says:

screenshot-www-reddit-com-2020-09-07-09_27_15

Rightfully so, EA admits that this was the wrong move on their part and that they have since learned their lesson. That being said, their statement doesn’t say that they won’t be finding other ways to add in advertisements, but for now, the intrusive ads have been removed and we’re happy with that.

EA Sports UFC 4 is available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Jack Black fans rejoice! We are pleased to announce that Jack Black is now a playable character in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2. He’s technically not an official character in the game, but his voice and likeness have been used to represent a fan-favorite secret skater.

However, the catch is that you have to complete a series of challenges so that you can unlock him as a playable character.

In previous versions of the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater franchise, there was an NPC called Officer Dick who drove around School II with his golf kart and would chase around players. Eventually, however, he became an unlockable character and players could play as Officer Dick.

screenshot-www-youtube-com-2020-09-07-08_49_29

screenshot-www-youtube-com-2020-09-07-08_56_01

Back then, his appearance was basically just your generic cop, but that’s no longer the case in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2. This time, you’ll find that Officer Dick has Jack Black’s voice and face now. How exciting!

However, it will require a bit of effort to unlock Officer Dick in this game. What you need to do to unlock him is to complete all 24 Created Skater challenge. After doing so, you will be able to choose Officer Dick in the Select Skater menu.

Many fans have been so excited to hear about this fact, with some reactions you will find below:

https://twitter.com/benzinow/status/1302686617744834561?s=20

That being said, Jack Black has also featured his time at Activision in his YouTube channel. Near the end, he plays a bit of the game to show off Officer Dick. Jack Black states that he’s such a huge fan of Tony Hawk as well as the franchise that he refused to get paid when they asked him to be a part of the game.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 is now available to play on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The excitement towards this game’s release has been so widespread that many retailers discounted the game even before its release date.

Left 4 Dead 2

In case you missed it, Left 4 Dead 2 is finally getting a new update after how many years called The Last Stand. This week, a new trailer has been dropped and we now have a bit more information. Thanks to this second trailer, we can confirm that the original Left 4 Dead survivors will be making a comeback.

This time, however, their journey is set on a campaign they haven’t traveled to before. That is to say that the update The Last Stand will be different from what took place in Left 4 Dead’s The Last Stand map.

Teaser #2 is basically similar to the first one, but this one has what they call “signs of life.” We can see Bill from Left 4 Dead featured in this teaser, who surrounded by dead zombies in the same area as The Last Stand map and the first teaser.

Previously, the team working on this big update promised that we will learn more information about The Last Stand in the future back when the first teaser initially dropped. Thankfully, they didn’t forget that promise, as JAiZ, one of the trailer’s creators, has shared a few details to keep as satiated…for now.

According to ComicBook, JAiZ confirmed that the update is based on the original The Last Stand survival map and is designed by NF, Roku, and Wolphin from their mapping team. You might even recognize these names, as they are the creators for well-known workshop campaigns such as Hard Rain: Downpour and Dark Carnival: Remix.

ss_ba2ea2eda245f89626277457ae2ab76ba997f46a-1920x1080

Having said that, there’s not much to glean from this teaser and so, we don’t have much to go on for now. The talented creators have teased us by saying that there’s so much more to look forward to in this update, as the campaign isn’t the only exciting thing they’re bringing to the table.

That said, we will definitely keep everyone posted once new information gets revealed.

Valve gives update on Dota 2’s The International start date

0
maxresdefault-11

eSports has been heavily affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Most leagues have resorted to doing digital events but some that were developed around conventions have suffered compared to others, and one of them is Dota 2.

The delay and cancellation of this year’s The International have been overwhelming and according to its producers, it doesn’t seem like the tournament isn’t going to continue anytime soon. In a lengthy post on Dota 2’s official website, Valve announced that they have estimated the date when The International will be back and it isn’t this year nor even in the first half of 2021.

Valve revealed that they are assuming that The International will return by August 2021 in Stockholm. The details revealed by Valve concerning the next The International isn’t totally shocking. Valve wants to conduct a live event thus making it clear that the tournament won’t be taking place anytime soon because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The August 2021 assumption date gives enough time for vaccines to be developed and distributed worldwide. Above all, it’s just a conventional date that Valve can hold on to. This simply means Valve is telling everyone that there won’t be any The International this year and they will just settle in returning in 2021 as if this year didn’t actually happen.

In addition to this news, Valve also revealed that they are planning to pursue a better and regular schedule for next year’s Dota Pro Circuit. Valve even mentioned that several third-party events are tentatively scheduled for the Dota Pro Circuit in 2021 – four in Europe and three in China.

Others are also in the works but are not yet confirmed by Valve. The producers are hoping that after The International 2020 ends, traveling around will be easier and simpler. Valve also takes the blame on some problems encountered during the end of the 2020 season and that their fans gave a lot of valid criticisms.

However, this statement from Valve about their Dota 2 plans most likely won’t satisfy the disappointment of fans. Their decision to delay everything related to competitive Dota 2 is logical but it still is frustrating just like all the cancellations 2020 forced on us. Everyone must just accept that this is how things will go for the rest of the year.

Infinity Ward removes all ‘Call of Duty Warzone’ vehicles due to game-breaking bug

Infinity Ward has released a new Call of Duty update which temporarily removes all vehicles from the game after players discovered and used a glitch to crash the game’s servers.

According to various reports, driving vehicles into particular out of bounds areas in the Warzone map was causing multiple server crashes which booted all players out of the game and return back into the lobby.

Both of Warzone’s Plunder and Battle Royale modes were affected by this bug. Infinity Ward made an unexpected update to stop players from abusing the bug.

A few months ago, Infinity Ward was also forced to remove Warzone helicopters because they were also utilized to cause out of bound bugs.

Along with the update are minor fixes and changes to prepare the game for the Games of Summer event. This seasonal event will cover both Warzone and Modern Warfare and will run until September 7. It features five trials of skills and a new Gunfight tournament set on the new Verdansk Stadium map.

Based on the performance of players in the trials, players will earn rewards such as XP tokens, vehicle horns and skins, calling cards, and Legendary blueprints.

Call of Duty Warzone Season 6 rumors are revealing that the developers are planning to add an expansive subway system to the game once the new season is released later this month. The leaks show five subway stations looping around the center of the Warzone map.
