After being left in the dark following its original reveal during a Pokemon Presents showcase held last year, fans were finally provided with more details and gameplay footage regarding New Pokemon Snap just a few weeks ago. In addition to an April 30 launch date announcement, players learned about the breathtaking view of the new Lental region, professor Mirror, and the magical Illumina Phenomenon.
Progressively, more details about the much-awaited Pokemon Snap sequel has been unveiled, including the game’s price, file size, and some kind of online functionality. Now, famous Japanese video game publication Famitsu has committed a whole section of its most recent issue to reveal new details and photos about the upcoming game.

Scans of the pages of the magazine featuring New Pokemon Snap were uploaded by Reddit user Riomegon on the internet. While some of the photos featured in the magazine have already been officially unveiled, some newer screenshots show off what appears to be cutscenes of Rita, Professor Mirror, and the playable character, as well as Pokemon such as Seviper, Octillery, Tangrowth for the first time.
One part of the Famitsu magazine scans originally confused fans, as it featured a few images of the original Pokemon Snap on the Nintendo 64. While this led to some players claiming and guessing that this meant that the original game would be bundled in with the sequel, Reddit user CoffeeBard generously translated Japanese to shed light on the situation.
Based on CoffeeBard’s translation, this section simply provides readers an overview of the original 1999 Pokemon Snap, speaks on how a sequel is being launched more than two decades later and says how Lawson convenience stores initially gave a sticker-printing service to go along with the original game’s release. The section also notes that the New Pokemon Snap will feature 200 Pokemon, whereas the original game only included 63.

Some Pokemon fans have expressed frustration that only a fraction of today’s Pokemon are being included in the new game, but the publication also reveals that the original game has an active following even today, because of its replayability. Hopefully, fans will be able to find just as much to do in the new game, particularly with the possibility of DLC expansions.
The rest of the information featured in the Famitsu magazine appears to touch on information already revealed in the game’s official website and trailers. As fans prepare to explore beaches, jungles, deserts, and more, there may be even more surprises in store for players of New Pokemon Snap.
