Dontnod’s New Game ‘Twin Mirror’ Will Be Released in December

From the same developers as the highly-acclaimed Life is Strange franchise, Dontnod has released a trailer for their upcoming psychological thriller Twin Mirror. In Twin Mirror, you play as an investigative journalist named Sam Higgs, who returns to his hometown after his best friend dies.

From there, he starts to unravel the dark secrets of his hometown, all while grappling and trying to come to terms with his past trauma. It sounds pretty similar to Dontnod’s previous titles Life is Strange and Life is Strange 2, however, Twin Mirror abandons the episodic nature of those two games and will only be composed of one complete narrative.

Not only that, but Twin Mirror is also more realistic as it doesn’t have any supernatural elements like those two aforementioned titles.

The newly-released trailer gives us a sneak peek at how we can use Sam’s deductive skills and Mind Palace technique in order to investigate and solve crime scenes. Back in June, game director Florian Desforges talks about Sam’s Mind Palace to GamesRadar:

Another exciting fact about Twin Mirror is that it’s Dontnod’s first self-published title, although it’s co-published with Shibuya Entertainment.

When it gets launched, Twin Mirror will be a timed exclusive on the Epic Games Store, although a wider PC release will follow later.

Spelunky 2 Now Available on PlayStation 4

Spelunky 2 has finally been released for the PlayStation 4, and a trailer posted by PlayStation’s official YouTube channel was released to celebrate this launch. The adorable trailer showcases the different stressful situations that you have to deal with in this cave-diving title.

If you didn’t know, Spelunky 2 was in development for quite some time and fans had to wait quite a while, especially since the original Spelunky was released in 2008. The sequel was supposed to be released in 2019, but game creator Derek Yu wanted to delay its release in order to polish the game a bit more.

Now, the game is finally out on PS4, along with an amazing launch trailer which you can watch below.

Fans of the original game will be happy to see familiar faces in the trailer, such as Olmec and Monty the dog. Another familiar face would be Ana’s father, who would most probably be an unlockable character for you to choose in the game’s online multiplayer mode.

Asides from the all-new setting and environment, the trailer shows that Spelunky 2 has brought a lot of new content to the table. For instance, you’ll encounter new enemies like the fire-breathing dinosaur-like creatures, or even the yellow lizards who chase you.

Enemies from the initial game, such as the cavemen and the bats, will also make a comeback. This pretty much goes to show that Spelunky 2 hasn’t forgotten its roots, and it’s still in touch with the original Spelunky game.

At the moment, Spelunky 2 is only available for the PlayStation 4. However, the game will be released on Steam as well by September 29, as previously announced by Yu.

Deltarune Chapter 2 Will Be Released By This Year

Toby Fox recently updated the Undertale website, and on the front page, you will find some of his thoughts regarding the game’s fifth anniversary, as well as a more detailed progress update on the upcoming follow-up title Deltarune.

The first chapter of Deltarune was released in 2018, and Fox wants to continue down that path of releasing the game in chapters. However, he also admits that he’s been struggling with Deltarune, as its scope is much larger than that of Undertale.

He enumerates several reasons why it’s more difficult, including the fact that the system and graphics are more complicated. Deltarune significantly has more content than the former game, and overall, it’s a pretty daunting and heavy task for someone who has only created one game.

As such, Fox admits that Deltarune is currently being developed by himself and a small team.

Fox also admits to returning to GameMaker, after spending quite some time trying to find an alternative, as he felt that it was the “best fit for the project.” Now that he was able to figure things out and made a lot of progress on the game, Fox is “very confident” that they’ll be able to release Deltarune chapter 2 by the end of the year.

He even goes out of his way to include a status breakdown on the progress of the game, even as far as bug-fixing and translation.

Fox has also been very transparent about the physical strain he’s experiencing due to game development. As such, he states how thankful he is for the team of developers who have been assisting him.

Due to this, Fox’s team may grow in the future. In fact, he included a list of people he needs that will help him with the game’s development. More information can be viewed here and portfolios can be submitted until the end of September.

Deltarune doesn’t have a specific release date, but we’re more than willing to wait especially now that we are aware just how difficult this has been for Fox.

Amnesia: Rebirth Reveals Release Date and New Trailer

Frictional Games announced the release date for Amnesia: Rebirth today, along with an all-new reveal trailer teasing us with what we can expect as we go on a horrifying journey through the Algerian desert.

The title makes it seem like a remaster of the original Amnesia: The Dark Descent, however, this is not the case. Amnesia: Rebirth is a completely different game that’s set around 100 years after the events of The Dark Descent.

You will play as Tasi Trianon, a young lady who wakes up alone in the desert with no memories. As such, you have to piece everything together and find out what happened, as well as figure out what to do from there.

However, the twist is that you’re not as alone as you initially thought. In other words, you have much more to worry about besides starving. In a previous talk with PC Gamer, creative director Thomas Grip further discussed the game.

For one thing, Frictional Games wanted to avoid jump scares as much as possible, describing this as “low hanging fruit.”

They want a game wherein horror seeps at the very core of the game’s narrative, especially since jump scares – albeit make you want to pee your pants – aren’t that gratuitous if you look at the bigger picture.

Amnesia: Rebirth will be released on October 20 and will be available on Steam, Epic, and GOG.

New Overwatch Comic and In-Game Event for Tracer

Just yesterday, Blizzard released a new five-issue Overwatch comic series called “London Calling,” which follows the life of Tracer while in London after Overwatch disbanded. To celebrate the comic series’ release, Blizzard announced the beginning of an in-game tie-in event called Tracer’s Comic Challenge.

This event gives you the chance to win limited-time rewards; this includes sprays that have voice lines, icons, and even an all-new epic skin. Here’s how it works: winning three times during Quick Play, Competitive, or Arcade will give you a new icon. If you win six times, you’ll earn the spray.

The top-tier reward, which is the Comic Book Tracer epic skin, can be earned if you win nine times. That being said, you can also win more sprays if you want to by watching streamers play Overwatch on Twitch. If you watch a cumulative two hours, you’ll get one spray. Four hours will get you two sprays, while six hours will earn you three.

Tracer’s Comic Challenge is now up and live on Overwatch, and it will continue to be so until September 28. For the comic series, however, digital issues will be released every month, but a physical edition from Dark Horse Comics will also be released in the future.

Monster Energy behind Gods and Monsters name change

It looks like Monster Energy is the culprit behind the renaming of Gods and Monsters into Immortals Fenyx Rising.

Based on files dug up by Techraptor, Monster Energy disputed the trademark used by Ubisoft for Gods and Monsters which led to the game being renamed to Immortals Fenyx Rising.

Monster Energy believes the name Gods and Monsters would confuse people because of its numerous trademarks which utilized the name “Monster”. Ubisoft disagreed that the name would mislead people since there are other brands using the word “Monster” and “Monsters”.

According to Hoeg Law, Ubisoft could have fought against Monster Energy’s allegations and would have won the battle. However, Ubisoft didn’t want to sacrifice a massive amount of money and time just fighting the claim. As a result, they just decided to rename the game into Immortals Fenyx Rising.

The game as initially revealed as Gods and Monsters during 2019’s E3 gaming convention and was initially expected to be released last February 2020. However, the game was held back before it was given a new name.

Currently being developed by Ubisoft Quebec, Immortals Fenyx Rising has been one of the few games that dropped the jaws of viewers from last week’s Ubisoft Forward.

Xbox Series X/S detailed specs reveals outdated I/O options

The Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S hardware specs have been really impressive but several of the next-gen consoles’ I/O options are outdated.

Microsoft has officially announced the in-depth specs of both Series X and Series S which unveiled a few features which aren’t usually mentioned in the reveal trailers.

The spec sheets published by Microsoft confirmed that both Xbox’s next-gen consoles are installed with an 802.11ac dual-band Wi-Fi antenna. This means that both consoles will cater to the Wi-Fi 5 spec instead of the faster and more modern Wi-Fi 6.

This spec is the same feature used with the current-gen consoles including the PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One. In other words, the Xbox Series X/S will contain the current-gen standard Wi-Fi and not the enhanced next-gen version.

The spec sheets also revealed that both the Xbox Series X/S will each contain three USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports which are a bit frustrating since everyone thought it would have a USB-C port installed. Fortunately, the USB 3.1 Gen 1 is an upgrade from the Xbox One X’s USB 3.0.

Though the difference in speed on both consoles is highly appreciated, this won’t matter much since these consoles have a propriety expansion port for the NVMe SSDs which matches the speed of the internal hard drive.

Players will still be able to the USB drives when playing current-gen titles. However, next-gen games will only be playable through the new ultra-fast SSDs, whether it is external or internal. Nevertheless, the Xbox Series X/S will be released on November 10 and preorders are now live for anyone who wants to avail Microsoft’s next-gen consoles.

New Valorant update allows players to choose skin variants

After the release of Valorant’s 1.09 update this week, players will be granted access to buy particular variants of a weapon’s skins. This was confirmed by developer Riot Games during a question and answer portion where they were asked to answer a few questions from their community.

While other games like CSGO have already implemented weapon skins, Valorant is taking the feature a step further and allows players to transform their weapon’s skins with colorful variants and even add visual effects that are unique to each gun.

However, the developers explained that players will still have to invest time in order to unlock a few of the weapon’s skin animations. The good thing is the upcoming update will let players buy and unlock whatever color variant they want for weapons that they already own.

While some of the game’s rarer skins including the Elderflame, can turn weapons into dragons, other skins such as the Spline come with a set of color swaps that users can purchase independently. This is a great move from the developers since Valorant’s original weapon skins weren’t that exemplary, with some weapons even looking a lot like the ones from CSGO.

With the 1.09 update, Valorant is allowing players to invest their money on skins that are well-designed and alluring to the eye. While other games force players with randomly generated rewards, Valorant’s choose-your-own-look option is a breath of fresh air.

Even weapon skins that thoroughly alter the looks of weapons and behavior will have unique color variations thus giving Valorant numerous customization options.

Aside from the ability to buy weapon skin variants, the developers explained a few more changes coming to the 1.09 update. These changes include:

    • unique animation for flashbang effects to adapt to epileptic players
    • ability to alter the weapon position from right hand to left and vice versa
    • possibility of the game’s ranking system to count more than just damage

Valorant is currently still on 1.07 which means these updates are still a few weeks away. However, fans don’t need to worry since these changes will come sooner or later.

Fortnite Season 4: How to complete Event of The Year Secret Challenge

Several Fortnite fans have been complaining that the current Battle Pass is sort of difficult to level up as there is not much free XP being given away as there has been in the previous seasons.

To make things more challenging, the current season’s Battle Pass skins feature several fan-favorite Marvel superheroes that fans are really eager to unlock. However, it looks like the developers are listening because a new secret challenge that was launched in Week 3 provides players free 20,000 XP upon completion.

Back in Season 2, fans found a set of secret challenges that rewards an extra mound of XP after helping in the war between teddy bears and garden gnomes. For this season, the gnomes are back and are ready to provide a bunch of much-needed XP to all players who participate in the Event of the Year.

In order to finish this challenge, players are tasked to locate a gnome inside The Authority’s island and stand beside it. Here’s an in-depth guide on how to find and complete the secret challenge of Fortnite Season 4.

The challenge is quite simple and the most troublesome part will be finding the gnome’s exact location. Players can find the gnome waiting on the northeastern corner of the island where The Authority is situated.

The gnome is waiting on the lake’s shore and is facing an advertising signboard of Super Slurp Juice. To finish the challenge, players must stand beside the gnome and also face the signboard. After doing so, they will be rewarded 20,000 XP on their Battle Pass.

The main focus of this season is about the Nexus War which features a few Marvel superheroes in this massive crossover showcase. However, based on recent leaks, it looks like a substance called Super Slurp is joining the game and will be related to the gnomes.

Some players guess that this would imply the inclusion of a new support item but time can only tell if this is true.

All the new updates coming to Modern Warfare and Warzone this week

The start of a new week only means Modern Warfare and Warzone players are getting an updated playlist. While the current season might seem it’s progressing slowly, the new updates this week can guarantee that players will be busy until the weekend.

This week, players will enjoy the return of several new modes in both standard multiplayer and Warzone. In addition, there will also brand new store bundles such as the return of Alex from the game’s main campaign.

Modern Warfare

Modern Warfare players will now be able to join Gunfight Face-Off Moshpit. For those who aren’t aware of this mode, the playlist takes standard modes to smaller maps that were initially designed for Gunfight. There is also a new mode called Ground War Reinfected which is generally a larger version of the infected mode that players have known and loved.

Additionally, players will now be able to buy the new Alex: Death Stalker bundle from the in-game store. The bundle contains a limited skin, a couple of weapon blueprints, a weapon charm, a watch, and a lot more for Season 3’s main Operator. The bundle costs 1,800 COD points which when converted is about $20.

The Tracker Pack Anime Super bundle is also available in the in-game store which contains five limited weapon blueprints which fire pink tracer rounds and an exclusive weapon charm. This pack costs 1,900 COD points.

Warzone

Meanwhile, in the battle royale side of the game, Infinity War is launching a new mode called Buy Back Quads which respawns will be granted based on the amount of cash a player has.

If a player runs out of money, he’s out of the game for good. However, as long as a player has cash, they will be respawned in the game but will cost a lot. Here are the playlists available in Warzone this week:

    • Blood Money Trios
    • Battle Royale Quads
    • Battle Royale Trios
    • Battle Royale Duos
    • Battle Royale Solos
    • Buy Back Quads

Even though Infinity Ward and Activision haven’t revealed when these new contents will be implemented, new playlists are usually released every Tuesday of the week. This means players can expect these modes to be available beginning September 15.

In total, this will be a pretty busy week for Modern Warfare and Warzone players. With the current season ending in two weeks, there won’t be that many updates to look forward to until Season 6. However, players must take advantage of the double XP weekend just before the season ends.
