While Valorant Episode 1 provided an incredible start to Riot Games’ tactical first-person shooter, fans have been looking forward to Episode 2 for quite some time now. For the past couple of days, the developer has been slowly revealing information about what players can expect from this newest episode.
Riot Games dropped a cinematic trailer for Episode 2 a few days ago, which revealed the most recent agent named Yoru and his different abilities. Through an interesting animated format, fans were given the first official look at the Japanese agent’s personality as well as his portal-hopping capabilities.
Riot Games then released a gameplay video for Yoru a few days after the cinematic trailer, but it looks like the developer doesn’t plan on stopping there. Just recently, a new overview trailer focusing on Valorant Episode 2 Act 1 has been released, which delves deeper into the new episode than the previous videos did.
Not only did the overview trailer showcase Yoru gameplay footage, it also highlighted the new multiplayer content that players can look forward to experiencing. The overview trailer, which you can watch above, begins with in-game footage of Yoru in action—including two abilities that were already seen in the cinematic trailer.
The first ability showcased is his Fakeout (C), which sends out footstep and footprint imitations in order to deceive enemies and surprise-attack them. The second one, on the other hand, is his Gatecrash (E) ability, which allows him to portal-hop his way to enemies.
After showcasing the new duelist agent, the overview trailer proceeds to discussing Episode 2’s competitive updates. This is something that many are interested about, as this newest episode will introduce competitive rewards to the game’s ranked system.
Like normal, players will begin at the lowest rank—Bronze—and then climb their way to higher ranks such as Silver and Gold. The highest rank is Radiant. There’s a bar that tracks a player’s progress, with each rank going as high as 100 before moving up to a higher rank. Players can fill up their progress bar by killing off other players during a match.
The trailer also briefly shows that Valorant now has leaderboards alongside the different ranked rewards. Fans who enjoy the competitive aspect of Valorant will surely be excited to delve into this feature.
Following that comes the Battle Pass. Valorant Episode 2 Act 1 features an Enhanced Battle Pass, which allows players to gain more experience points in every match. Of course, it will also have both free and premium battle pass rewards, which were briefly showcased in the trailer.
The overview trailer ends with Riot Games touting a couple of Valorant’s newest weapons. The game’s first Enhanced Battle Pass began on January 12 and will run until March 1. In other words, fans have enough time to experiment with Valorant’s new features. If players choose to go premium, that’s sufficient time to obtain all the rewards from the battle pass as well.
All in all, the newest overview trailer does a pretty good job at relaying all the necessary information that fans need to know about Valorant Episode 2 Act 1.
