Dead by Daylight, the asymmetrical multiplayer horror title by Behaviour Interactive, still receives updates to this day that expand the game’s world with new content. Not only that, but it was also recently released on the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X, two next-generation consoles that launched last month.
In early November, Behaviour Interactive announced the “A Binding of Kin” chapter with a reveal trailer, which introduced two new (twin) killers and one new survivor. Now, this newest chapter has finally been released, marking the first new content released in the game since the launch of the new consoles.
A Binding of Kin is Dead by Daylight’s Chapter 18, and this time around, the developer focused on releasing original creations. It’s honestly quite impressive and horrifying at the same time how the team at Behaviour Interactive was able to come up with terrifying monsters and killers for this game.
This latest chapter introduces Charlotte and Victor, a pair of conjoined twins from France in the 17th century. According to Dead by Daylight’s official website, the twins’ mother was accused of “birthing demons” and was consequently burned alive.
The twins were then sold to a mysterious cult, where they were forced to participate in a variety of strange experiments. After the death of Victor, The Entity — an unknown being who is in control of Dead by Daylight’s narrative — stepped into the picture and is pretty much the reason why both became a united Killer known as The Twins.
Asides from The Twins, Chapter 18 introduced a brand-new survivor known as Elodie Rakoto. Elodie was born in Paris, but her parents’ roots were from Madagascar. In order to cope with her parents’ death, Elodie turned to the occult in an attempt to find some answers.
Elodie has some pretty useful survivor perks up her sleeve, namely Appraisal, Deception, and Power Struggle. Appraisal allows her to search chests faster than other survivors, while she pretends to hide inside lockers with Deception.
Last but not least, Power Struggle can be used when Elodie gets caught by the Killer. If she struggles hard enough against the Killer when being carried away, she has the chance to drop a pallet in order to stun the Killer and escape.
What makes The Twins different from other multi-person Killers in Dead by Daylight, like The Legion, for example, is the fact that The Twins are “two characters that can each be controlled individually.”
Aside from its original collection of horrors, Behaviour Interactive’s Dead by Daylight is also known for its crossovers. Silent Hill’s Pyramid Head was included as a Killer in the game earlier in the year, while this newest chapter introduced its Nightmare on Elm Street DLC to other platforms, including the Stadia, PS5, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and Windows.
The A Binding of Kin update also continues the A Realm Beyond initiative, which has the goal of updating and improving Dead by Daylight’s maps, among others.
Dead by Daylight was originally released in June 2016, and it’s so great how Behaviour Interactive still continues to release a steady stream of updates and improvements for the popular multiplayer.
