Experts Say AI Is The Biggest Threat To Google Right Now, Not A ‘Catalyst’ – Alphabet News

You may perhaps know about Bard, Google’s contribution to the artificial intelligence (AI) race that has been grappling (and crippling) the globe today, and the search giant’s answer to OpenAI’s ChatGPT, an AI platform that is taking the world by storm.

You may also know and be aware of those that say AI is a “catalyst” for change, as it drives down the time spent performing a task, enables multitasking, eases the workload, enables the execution of complicated tasks without compromising costs, and has no downtime.

But, on the other of the spectrum, some experts are saying otherwise. Private financial and investing advice company The Motley Fool said in one of its recent articles that AI is the “biggest threat” to Google and Alphabet right now, not a catalyst. Read further for the details of this news.

Biggest threat

AI is currently a hot and trending topic worldwide. This is even bolstered by the creation of ChatGPT, which you may be using right now. But apparently, some say AI is becoming a significant threat to Google, the world’s leading search engine.

“ChatGPT could eventually have a profound impact on many industries, but it’s targeting internet search engines at the moment. Alphabet’s Google Search is one such platform caught in the crosshairs. Some investors are [concerned] as it apparently was caught flat-footed by the rise of AI-powered chatbots,” The Motley Fool’s Anthony Di Pizio said.

ChatGPT, launched just last November, is an AI platform that can provide you with almost anything you ask, from answering your questions to assisting you with tasks, plus more.

For now, Di Pizio said Google’s position in the market is “okay.” But, AI platforms like ChatGPT can make the search engine obsolete.

“… We might all be using chatbots like ChatGPT soon, and we won’t have to visit them,” he said, pertaining to Google. “They’ll be embedded in many of the applications we use each day, which could make Google Search obsolete.”

ChatGPT has also been incorporated into Microsoft’s Bing search engine and is being incorporated into the Microsoft 365 document suite.

“If you’re a student writing a paper or an employee preparing a presentation using Microsoft 365, this means you might never have to visit Google to conduct research or find the information you need. It will be readily accessible from the program and a mere prompt away,” Di Pizio added.

Chatbots will also power various business sectors

AI will also eventually hurt Google’s advertising revenue, the article in The Motley Fool said. When users move away from using Google, of course, its traffic will decline. If it does, its attractiveness to advertisers will be reduced, impacting Google’s parent company, Alphabet, overall.

Google’s Bard is ChatGPT’s competitor, and Di Pizio is saying Bard will soon be as powerful as the latter, eventually. But, he also noted that there is no guarantee companies would want to integrate two of them into their platforms.

“Right now, ChatGPT is the popular choice, and that first-mover advantage could leave Google playing catch-up for years to come,” he said.

This aligns with companies already building their plug-ins for ChatGPT, such as Redfin and Zillow Group from the real estate sector, and Expedia and Tripadvisor from the travel sector.

The debate on AI will continue.

iPadOS 17 Makes Your Tablet Feel Like Your iPhone – Apple Inc. News

0

Apple’s WWDC 2023 event, one of the company’s biggest events this year, has started and is ongoing, making every tech enthusiast jump with excitement.

During Day 1 of WWDC 2023, just like what news media expected, some of those Apple announced include the brand-new MacBook Air 15-inch, iOS 17, macOS 10, watchOS 10, and of course, its biggest announcement, the Apple Vision Pro, the company’s first-ever AR/VR headset.

But perhaps another major announcement Apple made during the first day of the event is the unveiling of iPadOS 17. This is laden with features that will make using your tablet feel more like using your iPhone.

“iPadOS powers our most versatile device and enables users to do so many things on iPad, and now with iPadOS 17, we deliver an experience that’s even more personal and capable,” Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering, Craig Federighi, said.

New features

The next iPad OS will include features such as lock screen customization similar to those on iPhones, interactive widgets, and lock screen activities. Apple introduced these features to iPhones with the release of iOS 16 last year.

iPadOS 17 will also bring the Health app to iPads. It was in 2014 when this app debuted on iPhones. Since then, the Cupertino-based tech company has upgraded the app in countless ways, such as offering more insights into the person’s overall health and letting them also monitor a family member’s health.

iPad’s Notes app will also get an upgrade with iPadOS 17. Now, you can autofill PDFs via the Notes app and collaborate on PDFs within the application in real-time with other people.

Aside from those, Messages will also become more interactive with improved communication tools. These include emoji stickers, allowing users to create Live Stickers from their own images by lifting a subject from the background, effects to Live Stickers, an expandable menu, and more.

Plus, iPadOS 17 will also offer more expressive ways to communicate with FaceTime. Particularly, users can leave audio or video messages when the person on the other end of the line does not pick up the call.

Other updates and enhanced features include improvements to Safari, Stage Manager, new Freeform drawing tools, Spotlight, Visual Look Up expansion, keyboard bringing improvements to autocorrect, activating Siri by simply saying “Siri,” easier sharing of content using AirPlay, a new smart grocery list experience on Reminders, downloading maps for offline use, and a whole lot more.

“With interactive widgets on the Lock Screen, updates to PDFs and Notes, as well as enhancements to Messages and FaceTime, iPadOS gives users even more ways to get things done easier and faster than ever,” Federighi added.

Not all iPads will get iPadOS 17

However, unfortunately, not all iPads will get the iOS update. The only iPads that will get iPadOS 17 are the iPad (6th generation and later), iPad mini (5th generation and later), iPad Air (3rd generation and later), and iPad Pro (2nd generation and later).

Also, some features, such as using the hands for 3D reactions in FaceTime, are limited to newer iPads like the iPad 10th generation and above. Moreover, the feature that notifies the user when their iPad is too close to them is limited to iPad Pro models due to the Face ID sensors.

Open letter asks Reddit to reconsider API pricing as numerous subreddits plan to protest next week

Reddit’s new API pricing isn’t only a threat to third-party apps: moderators and users fear that it could also translate to an unfavorable experience for them in the future. As such, different Reddit communities announced going dark on June 12. An open letter was also released recently, asking Reddit to make necessary considerations to help affected third-party apps.

Recently, the developer of third-party Reddit app Apollo expressed disappointment over Reddit’s API pricing, saying this could lead to the app’s shutdown. This, however, also extends to other Reddit applications, which will be massively affected by the hefty rates of the platform. Moderators and users said the future removal of these apps would negatively affect their platform experience, given the apps possess the tools and optimizations that help them in community moderation.

To protest, different communities won’t have any activities next week. In an “incomplete and growing list” shared on the platform, hundreds of subreddits will reportedly join the move, with some having more than 30 million users. Some of the subreddits on the list include r/aww, r/Music, r/Pics, r/DIY, r/EarthPorn, r/explainlikeimfive, r/LifeProTips, and r/videos.

The Moderator Coordination (r/ModCoord) subreddit also released an open letter to Reddit, explaining how the move will soon impact moderators and users in general. “Many of us rely on third-party apps to manage our communities effectively,” the letter reads. “Let’s just rip the band-aid right off: in many cases these apps offer superior mod tools, customization, streamlined interfaces, and other quality of life improvements that the official app does not offer. The potential loss of these services due to the pricing change would significantly impact our ability to moderate efficiently, thus negatively affecting the experience for users in our communities and for us as mods and users ourselves.”

The letter also voices other concerns on the platform, including making NSFW content unavailable via the API and reportedly a lack of transparent and consistent communication of Reddit to moderators when new features or changes are being rolled out. In the end, however, the letter underlined a plea specifically asking the company to consider making consideration for the third-party apps, which are on the verge of shutting down due to the API pricing.

“We urge Reddit’s management to reconsider the recent API pricing change, finding a compromise that allows third-party app developers to continue contributing to this platform’s success,” the letter, signed by different moderators and users, adds. “We ask for a solution that recognizes the vital role these third-party apps play and takes into consideration the negative impacts this decision might have on both users and moderators. A sustainable pricing model that encourages rather than discourages these apps’ growth and innovation will only strengthen the Reddit community.”

Video Bitrate Guide for Beginners

Video streaming has become an integral part of our digital lives. From social media platforms like YouTube and TikTok to live streaming on Twitch and Netflix, videos are everywhere. However, have you ever wondered how the quality of videos is maintained while streaming? The answer is video bitrate. In this article, we will discuss what video bitrate is, how it is measured, how it impacts video quality, and the best video bitrates for streaming.

What is Video Bitrate?

Video bitrate refers to the amount of data transmitted per second in a video stream. It is measured in bits per second (bps) and is a critical factor in determining the video quality. The higher the bitrate, the better the video quality. However, a higher bitrate also means more data to transmit, which can result in buffering, slow loading times, and increased data usage.

How Is Video Bitrate Measured?

Video bitrate is measured in bits per second (bps). The bitrate represents the amount of data transmitted per second in a video stream. To calculate the bitrate, we multiply the resolution of the video by the frame rate and the color depth.

For example, let’s say we have a video with a resolution of 1080p (1920×1080 pixels), a frame rate of 30 frames per second (fps), and a color depth of 24 bits per pixel. To calculate the bitrate, we can use the following formula:

Bitrate = Resolution x Frame Rate x Color Depth

So, the bitrate for this video would be:

Bitrate = 1920 x 1080 x 30 x 24

Bitrate = 186,624,000 bps

In this example, the video has a bitrate of 186,624,000 bps or approximately 187 Mbps. This means that 187 million bits of data are transmitted every second in this video stream.

It’s important to note that bitrate can vary depending on the compression format used in the video. For example, a video using the H.264 compression format may have a lower bitrate than a video using the HEVC (H.265) compression format while maintaining similar video quality. The compression format determines how efficiently video compression occurs, affecting the bitrate required for a given level of video quality.

How Does Bitrate Impact Video Quality?

Video bitrate has a significant impact on video quality. Generally, the higher the bitrate, the better the video quality, and the lower the bitrate, the lower the video quality. This is because video bitrate refers to the amount of data transmitted per second in a video stream. The more data transmitted per second, the more information there is about the video, resulting in better video quality.

A higher bitrate can result in a video with more details, sharper images, and smoother playback. This is particularly important for videos with fast-paced action or a lot of movement. A higher bitrate can capture more detail in these types of videos, resulting in a better viewing experience.

On the other hand, a lower bitrate can result in a video with fewer details, more artifacts, and a lower resolution. The video may appear blurry or pixelated, particularly during fast-paced action scenes. Lower bitrates may also result in more compression artifacts, which can look like blocks or distortions in the video.

It’s vital to keep in mind that greater bitrates also translate into larger file sizes, which can cause slower internet connections in viewers to experience longer loading and buffering periods. On the other hand, lower bit rates imply smaller file sizes, which lead to quicker load times and less buffering. To guarantee that everyone has a pleasant viewing experience, it is imperative to balance video quality and file size.

Best Video Bitrates for Streaming

The best video bitrate for streaming depends on the platform and the type of content being streamed. Here are some recommended video bitrates for streaming on two popular platforms:

YouTube

For streaming on YouTube, the recommended video bitrate is:

  • 1080p at 60fps: 6,000 – 9,000 kbps
  • 1080p at 30fps: 3,000 – 6,000 kbps
  • 720p at 60fps: 4,500 – 6,000 kbps
  • 720p at 30fps: 2,250 – 3,000 kbps
  • 480p at 30fps: 500 – 2,000 kbps
  • 360p at 30fps: 400 – 1,000 kbps

Twitch

For streaming on Twitch, the recommended video bitrate is:

  • 1080p at 60fps: 4,500 – 6,000 kbps
  • 1080p at 30fps: 3,500 – 5,000 kbps
  • 720p at 60fps: 3,500 – 5,000 kbps
  • 720p at 30fps: 1,500 – 3,000 kbps
  • 480p at 30fps: 500 – 1,500 kbps
  • 360p at 30fps: 300 – 1,200 kbps

Conclusion

Video bitrate plays a crucial role in maintaining video quality while streaming. A higher bitrate results in the better quality video but may also cause buffering and slow loading times. Lower bitrate results in faster loading times but may reduce video quality. It’s essential to choose the appropriate bitrate which suits the video streaming requirements and video delivery systems.

Using AI to Extract Insights from Your Data Set

0
the word ai spelled in white letters on a black surface

Any business works with a lot of data. Even if you are a solo entrepreneur, you certainly have a customer base. And if you are a CEO or manager in a large company, then most likely you have a special employee or an entire department for data analysis. Often, this process can be automated. For example, you can connect GA4 to BigQuery and quickly get a convenient visual representation of your data.

Information comes from all channels of interaction with customers — from contextual advertising to personal meetings. Its value depends on how well you handle it. Inactive databases cost about zero dollars. However, professional and detailed analysis can significantly increase income. A new trump card that can significantly change the rules of the game in the near future — Artificial Intelligence.

Why AI?

More data takes more time to process. With present-day volumes, analysis becomes unbearable for people as it requires tremendous attention and the ability to see patterns. Computers without software and operators are also unlikely to help.

There is only one way out — a smart machine that works thousands of times faster than people, makes almost no mistakes, and is ready to process gigabytes of data around the clock. It is no exaggeration to say that AI is currently revolutionizing data analytics. Now, with modern technology, you can reach a new level in customer relations and provide the most relevant products and services.

AI capabilities

AI is not a conscious brain, but it is able to perform a huge number of business tasks. We talked about enormous productivity, but there are still a large number of “artificial skills” that you can use:

  • Ability to analyze structured and unstructured data in various formats. Today, AI can work not only with textual or tabular data but also with pictures and videos. This means that your company will be able to extract useful info from multiple channels and transform it into business-driven insights.
  • The artificial brain will find patterns and correlations that may not be obvious. And this is another breakthrough point. A company may not know about something important for years and see the insight with the help of machine learning (ML) and AI. So, for example, AI can match search queries with social and demographic data of Internet users and create a unique selling proposition.
  • Ability to analyze trends and predict future outcomes. ML methods are becoming more advanced and predictions are getting more accurate. This feature can be used, for example, by financial institutions: banks will be able to evaluate the solvency of creditors based on their past behavior.

Obviously, artificial intelligence will not make management decisions, but it will be able to quickly analyze the data of thousands of customers and provide you with outstanding visual reports (using special software) that will give you a clear picture of your business. And then, you can confidently go to new business victories.

Natural Language Processing

Software engineers develop methods that allow computers and humans to interact. With natural language processing (NLP), computers can read, interpret, and understand language. Typically, the processing is based on the intelligence level of the machine, deciphering human messages into information that is meaningful to it.

NLP is a text data tool that allows you to extract the main meanings of texts (customer reviews, social media posts, or whatever). The machine is able to generalize them and highlight key themes and moods. In fact, the capabilities are much wider. With the help of NLP and the right algorithms, you can draw almost any conclusion.

Where is AI-based text analysis applied?

AI is often used in all sorts of analytics and marketing. For example, you can track the average tone of reviews and opinions for a given issue. Social networks use such algorithms to find and block malicious content. AI is also used when collecting information about users to display personalized ads.

In addition, textual data analysis is indispensable in scientific research, for example, in medicine. If you combine large databases with medical records and medical prescriptions, then AI is likely to be able to identify unknown patterns and help treat chronic diseases.

The financial industry (from large companies to single traders) can be the beneficiary of AI-based data analysis. The economy works according to certain rules and huge computing power can give a fairly accurate forecast of events in the financial market.

Conclusions

The data itself is a raw material of little value. However, data is a reflection of reality. The more accurately we analyze it, the better we understand the world, business, and any other area. AI has revolutionized data analysis and insight extraction. The insights that a business owner gets through AI can bring millions of dollars in profit.

However, AI is not a CEO or a manager. It helps to turn huge tables or boring texts into beautiful graphics and theses, but it’s your responsibility to lead your company into the future. Therefore, it is critical that people quickly adapt to the new technologies of our digital age and learn how to cooperate with the digital brain.

There is no doubt that the quality of AI insights will improve over time. Computer performance will increase, and machine learning algorithms will become more accurate. At the same time, the amount of data and competition will also grow. Therefore, it is quite possible that in the coming years, we will see the rapid development of business and the growth of innovation. Today, it is important to understand the possibilities of AI and apply them now!

Microsoft asks users what features could ‘encourage’ more frequent use of Bing mobile

0

Microsoft is taking extra steps to lure more people into using Bing. Recently, the software company sent its customers an email for a survey asking them what “could potentially encourage you to use Bing mobile app more often.”

It is undeniable that ChatGPT helped revitalized Bing, but this AI integration seems insufficient. And now that Google is releasing its own AI products, Bing is slowly losing the fame it gained months ago. With this, Microsoft is continuously rolling out new features to Bing. Recently, it even tried to involve Bing users in deciding on what to release in the future.

New Bing possible features
by u/Top_Engineer524 in bing

According to one Reddit user who shared a screenshot of an email, Microsoft sent a survey about different Bing-related questions. One that stands out is an item asking users about various features they would love to see on Bing soon. The choices include the addition of more AI tool recommendations, an AI community, AI chat characters with personalities, fewer limitations and restrictions, and performance and reliability enhancements. The survey also gives users the option to choose all items listed, according to the screenshot.

The list is all interesting, but many users who participated in the conversation on the Reddit thread expressed favor for the improved limitation policy of Microsoft over Bing.

“It appears that Bing has a tendency to assume that users are easily triggered or prone to panic attacks when searching for topics like true crime or even aspects of Asian culture from the past,” commented one user. “Whenever the chat bot encounters something even remotely disturbing, it immediately censors it, which undermines its usefulness for research purposes.”

“All of the above but if I had to choose one, it’d be less restrictions,” commented another.

Interestingly, as indicated in the survey, this specific question is meant for the mobile Bing app. This is not surprising, nonetheless, since Microsoft has always been vocal about its intention to have a better grip on the mobile market. Starting with Bing is probably a good start for Microsoft. Moreover, given that it is easier to access search engines using handhelds, it is not a surprise that Microsoft wants to focus more on improving the mobile version of Bing first. Unfortunately, catching up with Google Search won’t be easy for Bing. According to the latest data from StatCounter, Bing only has 2.77% of the worldwide search engine market share, which is not even half of Google’s 93.12% share.

iOS 17 Beta For iPhone Downloadable Today With These New Features – iPhone News

0

Apple’s WWDC 2023 is happening! Among the expected reveals will be the brand-new iOS 17. Well, various news outlets are saying that the iOS 17 beta will be available after today’s keynote at WWDC. But there are specifics.

The iOS 17 beta will only be available today, a few moments after the keynote, for members of Apple’s Developer Program.

For members of Apple’s free Beta Software Program, on the other hand, a public beta of this will be available in July, so they will have to wait.

However, the update will be released to the general public this September, when the new iPhone series will launch.

New features

Here are the new features of the iOS 17 beta:

  • New lock screen mode – iOS 17 will reportedly include this new mode that presents information like calendar appointments, notifications in a smart home display style, and the weather forecast. This new mode will reportedly appear when the phone is locked and in a landscape position.
  • New accessibility features like Personal Voice – Apple previously previewed new iPhone accessibility features coming to iOS 17. Some of them are Assistive Access and Personal Voice, but the latter is quite more intriguing. Personal Voice allows users at risk of losing their ability to speak to create a voice that sounds like them within just 15 minutes, for use when communicating with other people.
  • Next-generation CarPlay – Apple first previewed this during WWDC 2022, saying it will support various displays, widgets, and integrations with car functions like climate controls, the instrument cluster, and the FM radio. This time, media outlets are saying it will finally be present in iOS 17 beta, with the first vehicles to support this, such as Audi, Ford, Jaguar, Volvo, and more.
  • Journal app – Apple is also said to be developing a journaling application for its iPhone that can compete with the likes of Day One. This app, reportedly debuting with iOS 17, will combine note-taking with a social element, such as enabling the user to ask the device to write a journal entry about their walk to work.
  • Mood tracking in Health app – The new iOS 17 beta will also ensure you stay on top of your well-being. iOS 17 is said to include new tools for tracking emotions and managing vision conditions via the built-in Health app on the iPhone.

Other features expected with iOS 17 are the Wallet app revamp, Find My enhancements, the iMessage Contact Key Verification security feature, SharePlay enhancements, AirPlay enhancements, app sideloading within European Union countries, and the expansion of unwanted alerts tracking.

How to download the iOS 17 beta

Unlike in previous years, installing the new iOS 17 beta simply by installing a developer beta profile will not be possible. Apple will require a certified developer ID and password that should be verified.

With this, Apple will prevent regular users from installing the first iOS 17 beta, also addressing the issue of people downloading a beta version on main devices, but it stops working.

Here are the steps on how to download the first iOS 17 beta for registered developers:

  • First, choose the Settings app on your iPhone.
  • Then, tap General and Software Update.
  • Lastly, tap Beta Updates and enable iOS 17 Developer Beta once available.
  • It will then prompt on your screen once available.

The same is followed for the Mac, iPad, Apple Watch, and Apple TV.

Samsung’s Newest Bespoke Appliances Treat You To A More Sustainable, Stylish Lifestyle – Samsung News

0

According to Dictionary.com, “bespoke” is defined as anything custom-made based on the specifications of the person ordering the bespoke product, such as a bespoke suit.

South Korean multinational manufacturing conglomerate Samsung is embodying everything about what being bespoke means in its new catalog of appliances. But they’re adding a twist: making its appliances also sustainable. Here’s the news.

Samsung is launching its newest lineup of home appliances soon, which will be called Samsung’s bespoke appliances.

SmartThings AI Energy

Since Samsung’s SmartThings launched in 2013, it has enabled homeowners to connect, monitor, and control various smart home devices in a quicker and easier way possible. With this, they can connect their Samsung smart TVs, appliances, speakers, and brands, such as Philips Hue, Ring, and Nest, all from a singular app.

This time, Samsung is beefing up its SmartThings. They are soon launching the SmartThings’ AI Energy Mode, a feature in its technologies and products that can help reduce carbon emissions and save energy by up to 70 percent.

SmartThings AI Energy Mode will be launched in 65 more countries very soon.

‘Bringing Calm to Our Connected World’

Last year, the company also unveiled SmartThings Home with six services. This year, it is introducing more advanced features that will follow the theme, “Bringing Calm to Our Connected World.”

This means that all of Samsung’s current Bespoke products can be connected to Wi-Fi and utilized, operated, and maintained just with smartphones or any device that carries the SmartThings app.

Furthermore, Samsung’s Bespoke products are not only purveyors of sustainability but also style. For instance, Samsung’s Bespoke refrigerators allow users to customize their panels, colors, and textures according to their unique preferences.

Shop a Samsung Bespoke refrigerator with a discount

And the surprises don’t end there. USA Today reported that Samsung’s Bespoke 4-Door French Door Refrigerator with Beverage Center is now available at $1,200 off its original price tag.

This fridge features color-swappable panels that can be customized to match your kitchen design concept.

It is also laden with features such as the solid temperature delivery to prevent freezer burn, an ideal temperature to keep food from spoiling, the door-in-door system that lets homeowners reach the beverage center without opening the entire refrigerator, and a flex temperature drawer that can be set such as giving you more freezer room or more fridge space. Fantastic, isn’t it?

But wait, there’s more. The Samsung Bespoke Side-by-Side Refrigerator with Beverage Center is also offered with up to $700 savings!

“The technologies we are showcasing at Bespoke Life 2023 are built on the idea that the simplest but most important step is making a change to how things work in everyday life,” JH Han, Samsung DX’s CEO, wrote in his editorial published on the official Samsung website.

Samsung DX is a division in the company that combines its mobile and consumer electronics businesses into one unit, called DX, short for device experience, banking on its emphasis on user experience.

Han said Samsung would announce more about these products at the Bespoke Life 2023 event this June 7th.

Twitter’s Trust And Safety Head Resigns Amid Anti-Transgender Video Controversy – Twitter News

0
person holding black iphone 5

Twitter nowadays looks like it’s hostile against and not a friend of the transgender community.

The social media platform’s head of trust and safety, Ella Irwin, confirmed on Friday she has resigned from the company, news on Reuters said. This was after the owner, Elon Musk, endorsed an anti-transgender film on the platform.

But it has been a ‘once-in-a-lifetime experience’

Despite Irwin’s resignation, she said her stint at Twitter has been a “once-in-a-lifetime experience.”

“I know there’s been a lot of speculation regarding what happened,” she tweeted. “I did resign but this has been a once-in-a-lifetime experience and I’m so thankful to have worked with this amazing team of passionate, creative and hardworking people. Will be cheering you all and Twitter as you go!”

Irwin’s Twitter account, @ellagirwin, is still up on Twitter as of press time, and it has not been deactivated.

She is the second trust and safety executive to quit Twitter since the billionaire acquired the platform and implemented policies that sounded controversial to netizens.

Since Musk took over Twitter last October, it has spurred controversial policies, such as sacking many of the platform’s staff, suspending journalists, readmitting banned accounts, and charging fees for previously free features, among many others.

“I don’t care,” Musk said. “I’ll say what I want to say and if the consequence of that is losing money, so be it.”

Anti-transgender film

Irwin’s resignation came after the publication of a full-length film that hurls against the transgender community, posted on Twitter. Even the billionaire reposted the movie on his Twitter account.

The film, titled “What is a Woman?”, is a 2022 online movie by Matt Walsh of The Daily Wire, a conservative news website and media company. “What is a Woman?” urges intolerance of transgender people and opposes medical intervention for transgender children.

Even Musk reposted the film on his Twitter account, tweeting, “Every parent should watch this. Consenting adults should do whatever makes them happy, provided it does not harm others, but a child is not capable of consent, which is why we have laws protecting minors.”

The film has already garnered over 89 million views, and the Twitter CEO’s repost of it has already garnered over 140,000 retweets.

A politician also supports the film, replying to it with a “100” emoji.

Meanwhile, netizen @Cryptosilky1 called the video a “masterpiece.”

“He is on humanity’s side. Which side are you?” said @mtmikey11, on the other hand.

This was not the first time Twitter had done something to hurt the transgender community. Last month, as previously reported on PVP Live, Twitter quietly and covertly removed a particular statement in its policy that had been protecting transgender people from hateful conduct on the platform.

New Stuff From Webex: Meetings On The Road, Technology For The Speech-Impaired – Cisco Systems News

0
cars on roads

Webex is a company under Cisco that develops and markets web conferencing, video conferencing, and contact center as a service applications. It was founded in 1995 and acquired by Cisco Systems in 2007. It is based in San Jose, California.

Whether it is about hosting meetings with your team members in the company or simply as a way to connect with friends virtually, Webex has been helping people interact better with technology. Webex can provide video conferencing, screen sharing, cloud calling, group messaging, chat, file sharing, virtual event hosting, and many more.

It is why using Cisco’s Webex in certain aspects of life truly means a lot. For instance, Cisco is tapping this company of theirs to help the speech-impaired and enable people to host meetings while on the road. Here’s the story.

Voice for the speech-impaired

Human beings are, naturally, communicators. Thus, connecting with family and friends has been vital to daily life.

However, for the speech-impaired, communication can be a struggle.

That is why Webex by Cisco inked a partnership with Voiceitt, an artificial intelligence-powered program for people with non-standard speech, hoping this tie-up will give “voice” to the speech-impaired.

Through learning the distinctive speech patterns of the users, Voiceitt’s technology enables these people challenged by speech impairment to be understood in countless new ways. Voiceitt’s real-time captioning and transcription will integrate with Webex to reach more people worldwide.

“Webex’s mission is to enable everyone to do their best work, and enable them to share their voices and capabilities and be able to collaborate no matter what their situation,” Amit Barave, Webex by Cisco’s vice president for product management, said in the company’s recent news release. “We want Webex to be a truly inclusive platform for any kind of interaction that results in collaborative value. That’s what the Webex platform — and our partnership with Voiceitt — is all about supporting.”

Meetings on the road

Have you ever encountered yourself keeping your patience the best you can while on the road or shouting at other drivers while in traffic because you are running late for a meeting?

Well, that dilemma is about to end. Webex by Cisco is reportedly launching a new collaboration app that will be equipped in some Audi cars starting next year.

The company told the media it is working with CARIAD, Volkswagen Group’s software developer, and HARMAN, a Samsung subsidiary, to create the “first app for hybrid work” in cars.

“We’re on a mission to transform the connected car into another extension of the hybrid workplace. Our work with leading manufacturers like Audi will empower customers with a safe and seamless way to stay connected and be productive regardless of where or how you’re working,” said Cisco’s Jeetu Patel, Cisco’s executive vice president, and General Manager for Security and Collaboration.

Is meeting while on the road safe, you ask? Well, the app’s features are designed to prioritize safety above all. Webex will only be on audio-only mode while the car is in transit, so drivers can still participate in meetings without taking their eyes off the road. On the other hand, when parked, drivers can view meeting participants, shared content, and closed captioning.

What do you think of these new stuff from Webex?
