Tell Me Why Chapter 1 Is Now Available for Free

Following the footsteps of Life is Strange and other titles from developer DONTNOD, the first chapter of the Tell Me Why video game is now accessible for free across the different platforms that it’s available to play on.

The episodic narrative adventure game was initially launched in August of last year, garnering positive reviews from players and critics alike. Given the developer’s repertoire of games, the addition of Tell Me Why essentially cemented the heartfelt formula that DONTNOD has utilized across its point-and-click adventures.

In this fairly recent game, DONTNOD continued to weave representation into its narrative, including representation for the LGBTQ+ community and fighting against stigma towards mental health issues. Tell Me Why was able to win several rewards, including a Game for Impact award at last year’s The Game Awards. Other than that, many fans enjoyed the game for its Alaskan scenery.

Similar to many DONTNOD titles, Tell Me Why is an episodic adventure game. This type of games are usually released by episodes as well, although in this case, the game only has three episodes. The first episode or chapter is now available to play for free for PC and Xbox One users.

Players take on the roles of the two main characters in Tell Me Why. Tyler and Allison are twins who not only revisit their past, but confront it together. Being twins, both are endowed with twin telepathy, which allows them to communicate with each other without having to say a word. Not only that, they can even share their memories with one another.

However, it appears that their memories don’t always coincide, and as the player, you’ll have to make difficult choices and choose between the two memories in order to progress in the game. Some fans believe that Tell Me Why is set in the same universe as Life is Strange, so much so that they view it as a part of that franchise.

In Tell Me Why, Tyler and Allison reunite in their hometown of Delos Crossing, Alaska after 10 years in order to sell their childhood home. Tyler had to leave the place when he was a kid for admitting that he murdered his mom in self defense, as she seemingly reacted violently to his transition—at least, this is what Tyer and Allison believed for all these years.

In the game’s present time, Tyler is more confident in who he is and is fully living his life as a trans man. His sister, on the other hand, has been struggling with her mental health due to what happened when they were younger, along with the lack of guidance and therapy.

Progressing through the game will reveal more information as to what really happened all those years ago, as well as more information about their elusive father’s identity. When Tell Me Why was first release, the gaming community criticized it for being priced at a whopping $29.99, especially since it can be completed around 10 hours.

Amber Isle, an upcoming indie game inspired by none other Animal Crossing: New Horizons, is in the works. Developed by Ambertail Games, Amber Isle transports you to a peaceful island set in a prehistoric society, wherein you take on the role of a human amidst adorable dino citizens. The indie social sim lets you take care of a “crafting business for your prehistoric neighbours.”

The overall aesthetic of Amber Isle is cute, with each character being stylized and made after different kinds of dinosaurs. In an interview with PlayDiaries, Ambertail Games’ founder Jordan Bradley said that dinosaurs just aren’t used enough in media. And if you think about it, it’s true—and it’s such a shame as well, because there are so many different species of dinosaurs that could be great in mainstream media.

“There’s so many, it’s like Pokemon in real life. There’s so many of them with different shapes and different creatures and sizes, abilities,” said Bradley.

As mentioned, Amber Isle is inspired by Nintendo’s Animal Crossing: New Horizon, a highly popular life simulation game for the Nintendo Switch. That being said, there are some parts of Animal Crossing: New Horizons that Ambertail Games doesn’t want to implement in Amber Isle, such as the redundancy in conversations. Capcom had its Monster Hunter Digital Event a few hours ago, and one of the exciting things unveiled during that event is a brand-new trailer for Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. While a simple trailer isn’t something that would be considered as an incredible reveal, what makes this one special is the fact that also included the game’s release date.

This is perhaps one of the biggest reveals about Monster Hunter Stories 2 ever since it was initially announced back in September 2020. In case you’re not familiar with this upcoming game and its franchise in general, it started as a combination between Pokemon and Monster Hunter.

As such, players could capture and train a variety of monsters found within the Monster Hunter series. Not only that, they could then use these monsters in turn-based battle, just like in any Pokemon game.

Asides from the fact that the new trailer revealed Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin’s release date—which will be on July 9, 2021—it also detailed a handful of new and interesting information for fans to ponder on. For one thing, and this is probably what fans are most curious about, the trailer delved into some of the new monsters that will be added to the upcoming RPG.

Legiana and Anjanath were featured in the trailer, which means that players can expect monsters from Monster Hunter World to make an appearance in this installment. Other than those two, Pukei-Pukei, Kulu Ya-Ku, and Nergigante also starred in the trailer. However, we have yet to know if Nergigante will be included in the game as a “monstie,” or as an enemy monster.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin’s official website also underwent an update, which confirmed that Paolumu from Monster Hunter World will also be present. As for the monsters that are not from World, there’s Mizutsune. But this makes sense as well, knowing that it will be making an appearance in Monster Hunter Rise too.

Details about the upcoming game’s plot have also been unveiled. Just like the original title, players will once again have a Rathalos companion. However, this one is different because it has black wings. This Rathalos is special because it’s capable of either saving the world or causing its doom, and the player character is responsible for ensuring that it’s not the latter.

One of the companions players will encounter in Monster Hunter Stories 2 is Navirou, who happens to be the felyne companion of the first game’s main character. Other than that, players can expect that a new weapon type will be added to the upcoming game, seeing as the trailer showcased footage of a player wielding a bow while in battle.

In the first game, the protagonist could only choose between the great sword, sword and shield, hammer, or hunting horn. So, it’s great that this sequel adds one new weapon type to the list, especially since the mainline titles have 14 different kinds of weapons.

Last but not least, it looks like Monster Hunter Stories 2 will offer some kind of interesting feature. At the end of the trailer, it’s showcased that there will be some missions that can be done with a friend. Capcom hasn’t mentioned anything about this detail yet, however, so we’ll just have to wait.

Fans Can Now Pre-Order Physical Versions of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl

The Pokemon Company recently announced Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl, which garnered polarizing reactions from the gaming community and long-time fans. Nevertheless, these are remake titles that fans have been asking and waiting for for nearly seven years now, so it’s still worth celebrating.

These upcoming titles were announced during last month’s Pokemon Presentation, which revealed the fresh new art style. It may be a jarring difference to the aesthetic we know and love, but this new style isn’t all that bad either. It focuses more on a cute, chibi look, transforming Sinnoh and its characters into this aesthetic.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl will officially be released some time this year for the Nintendo Switch, and both will be available at $60. It’s been a couple of weeks since the games’ initial reveal, and now it seems that fans will be able to start pre-ordering the physical versions of both titles. The storefronts offering pre-orders include GameStop, Best Buy, and, of course, Amazon.

Even though interested fans can start pre-ordering the remakes from a variety of storefronts, there are still no concrete details as to when both titles will be released. During the Pokemon Presentation at the end of last month, a release window of “late 2021” was the only information given.

Because of this, the storefronts and retailers haven’t listed down anything specific yet either. In fact, Amazon simply wrote down December 31, 2021, as some kind of placeholder for the meantime. However, speculations that have been circulating about claim that the remakes will most likely launch within early-to-late November. This is because many mainline Pokemon titles were previously released in November as well.

That being said, it may be recommended that fans don’t jump in right away in pre-ordering these physical versions. At the moment, the company hasn’t revealed what kind of pre-order bonuses will be included, if there will be any at all. Sometimes, these bonuses also vary and depend on the storefront, so it may be best to check out all the retailers first and what they have to offer before diving in.

It’s also worth mentioning that the pre-orders available right now are only for the remakes’ physical versions. Players probably won’t be able to pre-order the digital version until we’re much closer to their release date in the latter half of the year. If the Pokemon Presentation was anything to go by, it seems that Pokemon fans have a lot to look forward to this 2021.

ICYMI, the presentation revealed the very first open-world Pokemon RPG in the franchise, along with the announcement of the remakes. This RPG is entitled Pokemon Legends: Arceus, and it will also be set in Sinnoh like Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl.

However, the difference is that the Sinnoh region found in Pokemon Legends: Arceus will be one from the past. That premise alone is very intriguing, and we can’t wait for The Pokemon Company to reveal more details as months pass by.

Among other things, there’s also a Pokemon MOBA game in the works called Pokemon Unite. This upcoming title is still in its beta stages, but it’s still limited to Android users for now.

Fans of Facepunch Studios’ Rust have been aware that a console version of the game is in the works ever since 2019, even though the developers haven’t been sharing much about it. Although, for the past recent years, the studio has been constantly teasing its fans that these console versions are almost done, and now, it appears that this is truer than ever—a release window has been confirmed.

According to Double Eleven, Rust’s console edition will be hitting the market in Spring of this year. The multiplayer survival game will be heading to both the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One. Unfortunately, a specific release date wasn’t announced, but seeing as Spring is really quite near already, these console versions feel closer than ever before.

The console editions recently entered their beta phases, and Facepunch Studios gave away keys to a select number of fans who play video games on their respective PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. The fact that the developer is testing out the game in this way gives us hope that the ports are almost ready to be released within the next couple of months—especially so if beta testers only have positive things to say.

Seeing as it’s a multiplayer-only title, players will be able to encounter a variety of other players as they roam across the desolate world. If worse comes to worst and looters are afoot, players can even fight and kill one another.
