Fans have been wondering why Valorant doesn’t have an infinite free-for-all mode yet, and Riot Games has finally clarified why. At the moment, the studio is developing a version of the FFA mode that’s specially designed for Valorant, but it’s simply not ready for release yet.
Valorant, Riot Games take on the multiplayer tactical first-person hero shooter genre, has been incredibly popular in the gaming community since last year when it was first launched. Despite being compared to other similar hero shooter titles such as Apex Legends or Overwatch, Valorant continues to stand out from the rest.
Games that are within this genre usually have a deathmatch mode, which is a mode that usually ends quickly and has a clear winner at the end of the match. What fans have been asking for, however, is an infinite version of this for Valorant—or at least a much longer version compared to other titles. And it seems that Riot Games is already working on it.
In a recent tweet, Principal Producer Jared Berbach explained why an infinite free-for-all mode won’t be added to the game soon. If you take a look and consider the currently available FFA deathmatch mode in Valorant, players are already as active as can be. So this means that even though this particular mode isn’t as crowded as the other available modes, the players who do participate in it are committed.
Of course, this only covers those Valorant players who are happy and content with the brief deathmatch matches wherein there’s a winner. However, it appears that Riot Games wants to expand upon this and ensure that most if not all the players are happy.
But in order to create an infinite FFA mode, or at least one that lasts much longer, Riot Games will need to change the game from the inside and make tweaks and adjustments to its tech. Berbach further explains that Valorant, as it is right now, doesn’t offer the option for players to join in the middle of a match. Valorant’s code needs to be tweaked in order for the game to check for players who want to jump in and join the fun.

Of course, this will need some time. It’s not easy to recode a game or the modes within it, so there’s still no release window or estimated time frame as to when an infinite FFA mode for Valorant will be available.
Without a doubt, fans will be thrilled to hear this news, even if there’s no exact date yet. They say this kind of mode is perfect for warming up or for practicing the various agents like the most recent Astra. Besides, this will give Valorant players a specific place to fool around and just have fun, leaving the other, more serious modes to the similarly serious players.
Even though this mode will take some time before it’s fully complete, Berbach assures fans that the wait will be worth it once it’s launched. That being said, there are other players who think that this kind of mode is not that necessary and is therefore a waste of time, especially when there are game-breaking bugs still on the loose.
Some Overwatch fans may think that the hero Tracer is the game’s official mascot, but if you think about it, it would make more sense if the adorable Pachimari gets this title. In fact, it seems that Blizzard Entertainment is aware of just how popular this creature is in the community and is making an effort to lean into that popularity outside of plush toys and other merchandise.
In a recent announcement, the company has revealed that a new Overwatch challenge is on the horizon, and one that specifically revolves around Pachimari. Just like the other challenge events in Blizzard’s first-person shooter, you’ll be given about two weeks to complete the various objectives successfully if they want to gain access to the PachiMarchi content.
If we look back to the previous challenge events, which were usually linked to a particular hero like Symmetra, Mercy, or Hanzo, these challenges required players to have 9 wins in no specific game mode.
Winning 3 times means you would get a profile icon or a spray, and you’d still unlock more or less the same kind of items upon 6 wins. Winning 9 times, however, makes a lot of difference—you’d usually obtain some kind of special skin that’s related to the challenge.
On the official Overwatch Twitter account, Blizzard announced the PachiMarchi challenge along with a brief teaser video. The announcement video reveals that the challenge event will begin on March 9, 2021 and will come to a close on March 22, 2021. The tweet itself seems to imply that some kind of brawl will take place during the duration of the event, stating that players should “set up for a sizzlin’ cephalopod showdown.”
The teaser video begins with a bunch of Pachimari stuffed toys raining from the sky onto the ground, which could be a hint of what we can expect from this challenge event. Even though Blizzard has yet to reveal what the purpose or objective of this showdown will be, it’s safe to assume that there’ll be an absurd amount of Pachimari involved somehow.
One other thing worth noting is that the stuffed Pachimari toys were raining on the Hanamura map, which leads us to believe that this particular map will also play a part in the event. Although this makes sense, given the fact that the Hanamura map features the machines wherein these Pachimari toys can be found.
However, we have no clue just yet about what Blizzard has planned and what we can expect to experience in this event. All we know for sure is when it will start and end, and that it will most definitely feature Pachimari.
Basing on previous events though, we’ll most likely be seeing new cosmetic items that can be unlocked. Plus, these items are most probably going to be themed around Pachimari. Overwatch already has a decent amount of Pachimari profile icons, but we wouldn’t be surprised if Blizzard decides to add more for the event.
Of course, these are all speculation for now until Blizzard officially reveals more details. There are a ton of possibilities though, and we look forward to seeing if we got some of them right.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons was perhaps the most successful game of 2020. Nintendo’s animal social simulator sold over 30 million copies in less than a year. The numbers are just part of the story; the game has also won several awards. Animal Crossing: New Horizons has now been awarded yet another game of the year award.
The game’s commercial popularity is undeniable, as it is currently the Switch’s second-best-selling title. One aspect of the game that is obvious is that it was a critical success. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a well-received game with a Metacritic score of 90 as of this writing. Fans chose Animal Crossing: New Horizons as one of the best games of 2020 in the Famitsu Dengeki Game Awards 2020, and Nintendo’s simulator took home the prize.
The recipients of the Famitsu Dengeki Game Awards 2020 have been announced, with nominations including games published in the calendar year 2020. While there were some hard hitters last year, there should only be one Game of the Year, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the winner.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons was also named Best Game in China and Most Valuable Creator. The game was released at a perfect moment in many ways when the world was shut down and a lot of people were trapped indoors due to the global pandemic. Animal Crossing: New Horizons provided players with an environment to explore and a place to socialize, so it’s no surprise it was a huge hit on the Nintendo Switch.
Sucker Punch Productions and Ghost of Tsushima also earned five nominations. It’s also helped that the game was based on Japanese history and was well-received. Meanwhile, the indie game Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin did exceptionally well at the Famitsu Dengeki Game Awards 2020, winning three trophies.
MAR10 Day is approaching, and Nintendo is commemorating the occasion with a game sale for select Nintendo Switch games. Mario Day, or MAR10 Day, has been known among Nintendo fans, and The Big N has commemorated it with a variety of discounts and events over the years. This year is no exception, as Nintendo has discounted a number of Mario games for a limited time.
The Nintendo Switch’s popularity is undeniable at this stage. With the exception of the Wii in 2008, the Switch saw the greatest year of any console ever in 2020. Mario was a huge part of that, and now Nintendo is hoping to capitalize on that by offering discounts on some of the most popular Mario games.
While the games discounted for MAR10 this year may not be among the most successful Mario games on the Nintendo Switch, there are still some highly rated and fan-favorite titles. There’s a good mix of single and multiplayer titles.

The discounted games this year might not be as well-known as the discounted MAR10 day games from last year. Super Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe were all heavily discounted last year, but they aren’t on the list this time around, at least not yet. It’s surprising that Super Mario Odyssey, for example, hasn’t been mentioned. Maybe the game will ultimately be discounted in the eShop on March 10th, but it hasn’t been mentioned yet.
With games like the well-received Super Mario 3D All-Stars – which is about to be removed from shelves entirely since being published after last year’s MAR10 Day – one would imagine the Mario title to have gotten a discount as well. Meanwhile, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury was just released last month, so it may be too early to discount the platform adventure.
League of Legends: Wild Rift, which is the mobile version of Blizzard’s highly popular League of Legends, is currently available in its beta form throughout different countries. For instance, Android users from the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore already had access to the game’s close beta since last year. However, The Americas have yet to enjoy Wild Rift’s beta, despite having a massive playerbase for the franchise.
When the mobile game was first announced, Riot Games initially wanted to include North and South America when it was launching its open beta program for Wild Rift in Spring 2021. Since many countries were already playing the game thanks to their open betas, some western fans took to using VPN in an effort to pass through any restrictions and play on another country’s servers.
Now that the open beta for The Americas is drawing closer to its release date, Riot Games released an announcement discussing those players who make use of VPN applications, as well as attractive incentives in order for the western fans to catch up with the rest.
The announcement came in the form of a 3-minute video from Ben “Draggles” Forbes, who is the game’s communications lead. In the video, he showed his gratitude towards those players who were able to wait patiently for the open beta’s upcoming release. Now, the purpose of this open beta is to see and test how stable the network is for both North and South America, so only players from those areas will be able to take part.
As for those who have been using a VPN, they will need to transfer or change their account information to the Americas. This means that all their progress will be erased and they’ll have to start from square one. Although, if the player made some purchases for their account while using a VPN, they will receive a refund at “some point after the game is launched.”

Even though the players’ progress will be lost forever, it’s great that Riot Games still acknowledged VPN users in this cordial way. There have been other studios or developers in the past who punished their players for changing their regions or making use of workarounds, like Valve for example. This is a path that Riot Games could have easily taken, but it chose not to.

While this twenty-year-old cult classic loot-based RPG is getting a brand new remaster for PC and consoles, it will not support cross-play. It turns out that bringing a beloved series back into the spotlight can be difficult.
Diablo 2: Resurrected is a remastered version of Diablo 2, the sequel to Blizzard’s PC game Diablo, which was released in 2000. The plot of Diablo 2 picks up right after the conclusion of the first game’s final act, with the unknown warrior unraveling under the pressure of absorbing the Lord of Terror’s presence into his own body, becoming a new prime evil for players to confront.
The Amazon, Assassin, Necromancer, Barbarian, Druid, Sorceress, and Paladin are among the latest heroes available to discover Diablo’s realm of Khanduras. Diablo 2’s plot is inextricably linked to Diablo 3’s.
Two of the main developers for Diablo 2: Resurrected spoke about how they have been trying to balance the original design and aesthetic of the game while bringing it into the modern-day with new graphics and quality of life changes in a recent round table interview with IGN Middle East.
Cross-platform play, which allows players to continue their progress across multiple consoles using cross-save, is one of these quality-of-life improvements. Diablo 2: Resurrected will be available on all modern platforms, but only on the same platform will players be able to play together.
Cross-play would not be allowed in the remaster at this time due to numerous problems with the game’s architecture that preclude it from running. “Cross-play was a cool idea, but it just wasn’t the right fit for the game since the game has different UIs, control schemes, and stuff like that. We brought in cross-progression because it felt right, and we wanted to make sure that no matter what console, or platform a player wants to play on, they are going to get the best experience.” Game producer Matthew Cederquist revealed to an interview with IGN.
Both Diablo 2: Resurrected and Diablo VI were just revealed in last month’s digital Blizzcon gathering, so it’s still uncertain when they’ll be out. In the meantime, Blizzard has been sharing a lot of information about the remaster and the next game in the franchise. Both seem to be promising new directions for the loot-RPG genre.

A few of the newest Xbox wireless controllers are having technical difficulties, with some of the keys failing to register when pressed. Microsoft, on the other hand, appears to be mindful of the problem and is working on a solution. Since November 2020, the new Xbox consoles, the Series X and Series S have been available for purchase.
Microsoft isn’t the only one with problems with its flagship console’s controller. Similar issues are plaguing Nintendo and Sony, especially in the case of the latter’s PlayStation 5, which has significant drift issues with its DualSense controls.
As a result, Sony is reportedly facing a class-action lawsuit alleging that its DualSense units violated consumer theft statutes and breached warranty agreements. Although the new Xbox controller issues have not yet resulted in a complaint, Microsoft faced a related lawsuit in 2020, and it appears that the company is now attempting to stop repeating its errors.
According to The Loadout, some of the new Xbox wireless controllers for the Series X and Series S have unresponsive controls, and the situation appears to be getting worse as more players buy the consoles. Jake, a YouTuber, posted a video on YouTube demonstrating the controller failure by repeatedly pressing the Y button in test mode and receiving no response.
Unfortunately, for some Xbox fans, this is nothing new, since the previous generation’s Xbox One console has similar controller issues. A Microsoft spokesperson told the world that the organization is aware of the problem and is working on a solution; however, no timeline for when the issue would be addressed was given.
“At Microsoft, we put all of our products through rigorous quality assurance testing and are committed to providing customers with an unparalleled gaming experience. We are aware some players may be experiencing unresponsiveness with their new Xbox Wireless Controllers and our teams are actively working on a solution. For the best experience, we encourage customers to visit Xbox Support for assistance.”
The updated Xbox controllers have a number of flaws, including the Y button. There have also been reports of non-responsive X and A keys, making the problem seem to be more severe. The use of low-durability components in the controller’s architecture, which was discovered to be a significant contributing factor in the PS5 drift problems, maybe one possible reason for these malfunctions. However, the cause of the Xbox controller issues is unknown at this time.
Although not all of the latest controller units have these problems, it’s disappointing that the issue has continued through console generations. Given this experience, Xbox fans may be wary of Microsoft’s pledge to resolve the issue.
It could have been addressed with the Xbox One if it was something the organization genuinely understood as a challenge and decided to address. Hopefully, Microsoft keeps its promise and fixes the issues until the crisis spirals out of control, as it did with Sony.
Those searching for information on forthcoming games should take note of the Future Games Show. The interactive gaming event Future Games Show will return this year, and earlier than anticipated, according to GamesRadar.
Various blogs and publishers have produced their own shows while gaming news gradually goes online for reveals. Despite the fact that the Future Games Show is a recent addition, it has continued to build itself as a reliable celebration. The showcase has made appearances at E3 and Gamescom, as well as hosting its own event. Even if there are several streaming shows in the works for 2021, it seems that FGS will return.

And with so many teams participating, there will almost certainly be a few highlights in the day. The publishers at Warner Bros. Games and EA have a number of big-name series, but these are only a few to keep an eye on.
Digital game shows, on the other hand, have recently received a lukewarm response. A few weeks ago, a Nintendo Direct lacked many anticipated games, and Sony’s State of Play did not impress the audience. At BlizzCon 2021, also Blizzard failed to deliver on Overwatch.
It’s difficult to tell whether this is due to the global pandemic or the time between console generations. However, there’s a good possibility that FGS won’t have many interesting announcements as well. Fans will have to wait to see what happens later this month in any event.
