Target’s PS5 Restock Immediately Sold Out

Gamers who have been trying to get their hands on a PlayStation 5 have been having a hard time doing so ever since pre-orders for the console went live last year. With retailers constantly running out of stock, delivery drivers stealing the console, and sometimes delivering the wrong item, it’s almost impossible to get a PS5 with no bumps along the way. There was a time recently when a big retailer had the console in stock, though, but for only a quick moment.

When the PlayStation 5 was released—and even before that when pre-orders were ongoing—scalpers wasted no time in selling the console on websites like eBay for outrageous prices. If you think about how much people were willing to pay for a PlayStation 5 even before it was officially out just goes to show how in demand this console was and is.

However, at some point in the middle of the night, Target restocked on PS5s. There were rumors recently claiming that Target would have a PS5 restock very soon. These rumors turned out to be true, and as expected, the console was sold out in a flash.

Just like what the rumor predicted, the console’s purchase opportunity took place some time between 3 AM and 7 AM. As soon as it went live, Target’s limited stocks were gone almost immediately. Understandably, many interested customers who weren’t as quick as the others were upset and disappointed by this.

While there were some lucky customers who finally got to purchase this newest console generation for the PlayStation, many weren’t as lucky, with some even sleeping through the drop.

It’s quite incredible how in-demand the PlayStation 5 is right now and how, after months of its release, countless people are still having trouble obtaining one. As a matter of fact, the console has yet to officially launch in India, but the pre-orders have long since sold out.

It’s not just the PlayStation 5 either; Microsoft’s Xbox Series X is still in high demand even today. About two months have already passed since both consoles got launched, yet there seems to be no sign that the hype and demand for both of them will die down anytime soon.

As such, it would definitely interesting to see how long the PlayStation 5 will be in demand for before the hype slowly dwindles and dies. Naturally, the hype surrounding a brand-new console will always die out eventually—there’s nothing a company can do to retain the demand for it.

There’s the Nintendo Switch, for example. Although admittedly the hype and demand for the console wasn’t as high compared to the PlayStation 5, Nintendo also experienced similar issues. In fact, we wouldn’t be surprised that the Nintendo Switch Pro, if it were to be announced, would receive the same kind of treatment that both the PS5 and the Xbox Series X/S have been receiving for the past few months.

At this point, all we can do is hope that obtaining a highly praised PlayStation 5 console will be easier to do in the forthcoming months.

Genshin Impact Will Add Support For Mobile Controller on iOS

MiHoYo’s hit action RPG Genshin Impact has certainly kept its players on the edge of their seats in spite of the game only being released late last year. With new content arriving this year, including unique playable characters and exclusive events, mobile players of Genshin Impact will likely be hyped to learn that the developers are preparing to bring mobile controller support into the system, particularly for iOS users.

Genshin Impact is currently free to play across multiple platforms such as the PlayStation 4, PC, Android, and iOS devices. However, the development team has noticed that iOS owners have been extremely vocal in their demand to be able to play the game using their default controllers.

Since miHoYo was able to implement the ability to change the game’s controls in one of its earlier updates, it appears the developers have heard their community’s cries and ultimately decided to enforce mobile controller support in an upcoming version update.

In a recently released developer discussion post, miHoYo answered some of their fans’ most frequently asked questions and provided several details on the upcoming v1.3 update for Genshin Impact. Some of the most considerable changes include improving how the Resin system works and being able to plunder unused items in the game.

However, the development team also made a short statement that players who have updated their Apple devices to iOS 14 and above will be able to use their portable controllers in the game. For gamers who prefer using controllers, this is specifically helpful in quests and dungeons that require heavy action or demand fast reaction times.

Once fans have updated their game to v1.3, the game will be able to support the following controllers: PlayStation DualShock 4 Wireless Controller, Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, and Xbox Wireless Controller (Bluetooth Version).

For iOS-exclusive Bluetooth controllers, the developers stated that the game will only provide partial support. Sadly, for non-iOS players, no official detail has been confirmed if a similar controller support will be integrated on Android devices.

7-11 Japan Giving Free Gold Monster Hunter Rise Amiibo

Fans looking forward to Monster Hunter Rise will have an opportunity to receive a special edition Amiibo from 7-11 Japan. As a franchise popular for collecting unique gear, fans will want to win these exclusively rare Monster Hunter Rise Amiibo.

Usually, an Amiibo provides special advantages in-game for players who use it, ranging from storing save data to getting special items. A lot of Nintendo games have had Amiibo support over the years, but only several of those come with a golden finish. Sadly, this exclusive edition set of Amiibo is not available for purchase, as the collection will only be solely available from a local 7-11 convenience store in Japan.

The special Amiibo set comes with three figures, based on different beasts from Monster Hunter Rise. Fans will instantly recognize the Palamute, which is a dog mount, as well as the Palico, which is the popular feline sidekick in the Monster Hunter franchise. The third Amiibo is the signature monster of the new game, Magnamalo. While these three figures will be available to buy in their standard colors, the gold edition will be much difficult to obtain.

The only way fans can get these golden Amiibo will be to win a contest via 7-11 Japan. To join, players will have to buy a digital download card for Monster Hunter Rise. Purchasing a card from January 25 to April 11 will earn a ticket into the contest.

As of writing, there is no detail on when Capcom will reveal winners, or how many players will be chosen as winners. Additionally, the Amiibo designs that have been posted online are just concepts and are not yet final.

Amiibo reveals are typically worth checking out because of their unique designs and in-game advantages. For fans of different franchises, the figures also serve as an extra collectible aside from the gameplay experience and this golden Amiibo collection will most likely join the rank of the most expensive Amiibo ultimately.

The other upside is that this Monster Hunter Rise collection will not be taken advantage by scalpers. Since it is a contest depending on chance, anyone who buys a download card will have the opportunity to own these Amiibo.

With this said, these collectibles have come under fire in the past for being a kind of physical DLC. Hearthstone Reveals New Mini-Set and Battlegrounds Update

Blizzard revealed its upcoming plans for Hearthstone a few hours ago, and they are coming fast, with a mini-set set to arrive in Darkmoon Races as well as a few Battlegrounds updates due out in just a couple of days.

Hearthstone is Blizzard’s hit digital card game, which sees players provided access to various unique game modes. While the game is free to play, it also includes preferences to purchase cosmetics, a new season pass in the form of the Tavern Pass, and card packs to assist in rounding out a player’s collection should they be interested.

Lately, the monetization inside Hearthstone came under fire for the way it was forcing its players to spend more bucks thanks to weak reward offerings from the free Tavern Pass variant. The development team has since iterated on the system a couple of times, with its last myriad of changes the best received yet, but the aberration of a battle pass controversy sadly changed the attention away from the game’s most recent DLC, Madness at the Darkmoon Faire.

Blizzard revealed its forthcoming Hearthstone updates a few hours ago, and they continue in the same vein of pledging content additions and improvements that more recent revelations have established. First and foremost, Blizzard revealed that the game is receiving a mini-set called Darkmoon Races, which adds thirty-five cards into the game.

These cards will be available to buy until May 11, 2021, for $15 or 2000 Gold, and purchasing the mini-set will give players all copies they need of every card. Blizzard also revealed that Hearthstone Battlegrounds will be receiving an update, with two new heroes, Greybough and Tickatus, coming along with two new minions, Ring Matron and Soul Devourer. Both Hearthstone Battlegrounds and the Darkmoon Races update will be available on the 21st of January.

Blizzard will also be releasing updates to Duels mode on the same abovementioned date, where players will now be able to pick between three Hero Powers rather than just two, and between 6 treasures rather than the usual 3.

Increasing depth to the mode is extremely needed, as its main design and gameplay are still remarkable but with its restricted offerings at launch, things grew boring over time. Adding that much more difference should help make Duels a much desirable game mode for months to come.

Returnal Pre-Order Exclusive Suits Revealed On Amazon

A special preorder bonus for the PlayStation 5 exclusive game, Returnal, was recently announced via Amazon. The new third-person shooting game is being developed by Housemarque and is scheduled to release on March 19, 2021.

Returnal is advertised as a science fiction psychological horror game and is a departure from the developer’s usual formula. The Finnish video game developer is popular for making arcade-style games with an extreme focus on gameplay above all else.

However, with Returnal, the development team appears to be putting more focus on its characters and story based on what was shown in the reveal trailer from last year. Now that the game is only a couple of months away from launch, it is only natural that preorders have started to go live, and with them are exclusive preorder bonuses.

Players who will avail the Returnal preorders through Amazon Deutsch will receive two additional suits. The translations for the two suits read as “Astra Model 14 Takiter Suit for Selene” and “Astra Model 9 Prototype Suit for Selene.”

As of writing, the bonus only appears to be available via Amazon Deutsch and it is uncertain if the suits are simply cosmetics to make players look cooler or have in-game effects. The price for this Returnal preorder is €79.99 which is approximately $97.

The scarcity of information regarding this preorder bonus is a bit unusual. When Demon’s Souls, another PlayStation 5 exclusive, announced that it had preorder content, specific details came along with the reveal to inform fans of what exactly they would be receiving.

In comparison, gamers are left to think if the Model 9 and Model 14 Returnal suits are simply skins or something more. On top of this, there is no confirmation whether or not this content will become available in other markets.

While the game does look amazing from both gameplay and narrative perspective, this bizarre preorder situation might hurt the game long before players get their hands on the game. There appears to be a breakdown in communication between the developers and the gaming community but it might not necessarily be the development team’s fault.

Sometimes sellers prematurely release information that was not meant to be announced yet to the general public for some time. The fact that this preorder for the Model 9 and 14 suits only appears to be available on Amazon Deutsch implies that this is what happened here too.

Whether or not this is an error, it is still a tough start for a title that looks promising. Hopefully, the chaos revolving around Returnal’s preorder suits will not discourage fans who are interested in trying the game out.

Latest Trailer for Bravely Default 2 Showcases New Job Classes

One reason why fans love Bravely Default so much is because of its job system. For one thing, each job class has a different outfit for each character, and players can utilize all kinds of strategies when jumping into battle.

Fans of the franchise will finally get to experience Bravely Default 2 very soon, and the upcoming title’s marketing team is going full steam ahead with its reveals. Recently, a new trailer for the game was dropped, which showcased new job classes that players will be able to choose from once the sequel is launched.

Before revealing the different jobs, the trailer also showcases the Snow Country of Rimedahl, giving fans a peek at one of the five kingdoms of Excillent. It will be in this ice-cold country that the game’s heroes will encounter bearers of the Asterisks, otherwise known as the crystals that give players these job class options.

That being said, the first character to make an appearance in the trailer is Martha Lancer, Guardian of the Dragon Cave, who is the bearer of the Dragoon Asterisk. Once players obtain this particular Asterisk from her, their characters will be able to jump higher than ever before, and then crash-land onto their enemies.

While the Dragoon class is common in Final Fantasy games, this class was known as Valkyrie in the first Bravely Default game.

Next up, we have the Swordmaster Asterisk, the holder of which is Gladys Kelly, the friar of the Rimedahl Church. This job class focuses more on counterattacks and tactical sword-wielding. The Swordmaster class isn’t new to the Bravely Default franchise, though, so long-time fans should be familiar with this one and how it works.

The Priest Asterisk is also held by another member of the Rimedahl Church, namely Helio the Inquisitor. Naturally, this class is all about protecting allies from evil and giving them support, much like how Bravely Default’s Bishop worked. Some of his abilities shown in the trailer include Regen, Reraise, and Holy Mist. Fans who tried out the Bravely Default 2 demo would have benefited greatly from having a Priest on their team, especially since the demo’s difficulty level was quite high.

The bearer of the Oracle Asterisk is the high priest of the Rimedahl Church known as Dominic. This job is best described as a “mage that delivers the word of law,” and that pretty much sums up what an Oracle does. Oracles support the party by controlling not only the elements, but even time.

Last but not least, the trailer showcases the Salve-Maker, which isn’t a new job class. Characters with this job class is capable of creating items that have different purposes and can even help in battle, such as attacking, defending, or supporting. Glenn Booth holds the Asterisk for this, who is known as the Mayor of Enderno.

In the first Bravely Default game, the Salve-Maker had an ability called Compounding, and based on the trailer, it looks like this Asterisk will still have this as its main ability.

That being said, there’s more to Bravely Default 2’s job classes than these, and the developer may even reveal more as we get closer and closer to the game’s release date.

Microsoft Confirms That Yakuza And Other Titles Will Be Added To Xbox Game Pass This Month

Without a doubt, the Game Pass is one of the best things about Microsoft’s Xbox, as the subscription service gets added with a variety of new games constantly. This time around, the company has revealed the next batch of titles that will be made available on the service, and it not only includes highly acclaimed titles but brand-new ones as well.

The Xbox Game Pass is definitely one great way to remain updated when it comes to new games, as they become immediately available on the platform on the first day of their release.

Speaking of brand-new games, the first one to join the Game Pass library is Cyber Shadow this January 26. For those who don’t know, Cyber Shadow is an action platformer with a retro aesthetic, which takes elements from both Metroid and Ninja Gaiden and then beautifully mixes them together.

Interested players will be able to play as a ninja known as Shadow. Shadow has a daunting task ahead of him, as he needs to battle his way through Mekacity, unlocking all kinds of abilities and saving his clan members in the process. So far, Cyber Shadow has impressed the video game community with its gameplay presentations, so it’s definitely worth checking out once it’s released on the Game Pass.

Another new title that is heading to the subscription service is Bloober Team’s The Medium, which will be available to play on the Xbox Game Pass this January 28. Deviating from its previous first-person horror game, The Medium will still be a horror title, but it will be following a third-person perspective. It also takes inspiration from other popular games such as Silent Hill and Resident Evil.

However, it’s worth mentioning that The Medium will only be exclusively available on the Xbox Series X. In other words, it will be the first console title available on the Game Pass that doesn’t support the Xbox One.

Asides from these two new ones, though, a bunch of other games will be making its way to the Game Pass on January 21. This includes popular games such as Desperados 3, which is actually one of the highest-rated video games of last year, as well as the debut of Control on the PC Game Pass.

Of course, indie titles like Donut County will be joining the fray too, while those who subscribe to the Game Pass using their Android will be glad to know that Outer Wilds will also be included in that lineup.

Last but not least, even more games from the Yakuza franchise will be added to the Xbox Game Pass this January 28, thanks to the Yakuza Remastered Collection. This collection will give fans the opportunity to experience Yakuza 3, Yakuza 4, and Yakuza 5 via the Xbox Game Pass.

The addition of these games also means that most Yakuza games will be playable on Xbox, and that fans are now just waiting for Yakuza 6 to be released on the service later this year. While it’s great that numerous titles are being welcomed into the service, many others are also being removed.

Recently, it was announced that Final Fantasy 15 and a bunch of other games will no longer be available on the Xbox Game Pass in February 2021. As such, definitely speed through those games as soon as possible before they’re removed next month.

New PUBG Titles Are Currently In The Works

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, more popularly known as PUBG, can be thanked for the incredible rise in popularity of the battle royale genre. Influencing popular titles such as Fortnite and Call of Duty: Warzone, PUBG can definitely be considered as a pioneer in this department.

Even though the game is no longer as huge as it used to be upon release, PUBG still remains popular even today. However, those who want something fresh will be glad to know that the game’s developer is brewing up something new to bring to the table, giving fans something to look forward to.

Kim Chang-Han, the CEO of Krafton, recently had an interview with Bloomberg about what the future has in store for PUBG and its franchise overall. The CEO states that Krafton will not remain as a “one hit wonder,” in fact, the video game company is currently working on a brand-new PUBG battle royale game for mobile, which is supposedly going to launch this year. Although, we have yet to see if this upcoming title will be able to obtain the same kind of success as the original PUBG.

Also, we can’t say for certain just yet how this upcoming mobile title will stand apart from the initial game or what kind of impact it will have on the franchise as a whole. However, the developer should be releasing more details about this within the next few months.

Among other things, Chang-Han also mentioned a “PUBG-related” game that’s estimated to arrive by 2022. Multiple platforms, namely PC and consoles, will supposedly be able to support this one. It’s worth noting that Chang-Han didn’t specifically mention that this game was going to be a part of the battle royale genre, so it’s possible that Krafton is working on a completely unique project.

In fact, there’s one other PUBG-related title set for 2022 that isn’t made to be a battle royale. Specifically, it was revealed during The Game Awards 2020 that the developer of Dead Space is currently working on a game entitled The Callisto Protocol that’s set in the PUBG universe.

Developed by Glen Schofield and Striking Distance, the upcoming sci-fi survival-horror title serves as a spiritual successor to the highly acclaimed Dead Space series. However, we have yet to find out how The Callisto Protocol is linked to PUBG asides from the fact that they are both set in the same universe. As we draw closer to 2022, though, we’re sure that more information will be revealed.

That being said, the existence of The Callisto Protocol is sufficient proof that the developer is more than willing to experiment and work on a PUBG-related game that deviates from its usual battle royale experience. While PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is an expansive multiplayer game, The Callisto Protocol is a single-player horror one.

With that in mind, we’re definitely interested to see what kind of PUBG-related game Krafton will be releasing in 2022. At this point, it could be anything.

For now though, while we wait for further information, the original PUBG will still be receiving regular updates for dedicated fans to enjoy.

Genshin Impact Version 1.3 Will Make Changes To Resin System

According to a recent announcement, it appears that Genshin Impact’s resin system will be undergoing major changes. The announcement was made by developer miHoYo a few hours ago, stating that the Original Resin gain for Genshin Impact Version 1.3 will be changed.

For those who only just started getting into the game, Original Resin is a crucial resource in Genshin Impact, as players need the energy from it in order to collect rewards. For example, players would need to use up a bit of resin if they want to obtain rewards from clearing Domain Bosses or event-exclusive challenges, or from Ley Line Blossoms.

Although it’s completely possible to do these challenges even without the resin, players wouldn’t be able to redeem the rewards, making their efforts somewhat useless. Fortunately, developer miHoYo will be implementing changes to the resin system that will positively impact the game as a whole.

On the Developers Discussion page, miHoYo answers and explains how these changes will result in players obtaining more resin overall. As soon as the newest version goes live, various Genshin Impact events that will need Original Resin are going to experience some changes.

Namely, events that don’t have Domain or Ley Line Blossom challenges will no longer require you to use up resin. Not only that, future large-scale events in the game’s world will no longer require the use of this resource.

There’s also great news for Genshin Impact players who purchase the Battle Pass. Specifically, more resin will be heading their way in the future. In Version 1.3, players who have the Sojourner’s Battle Pass will be able to obtain Fragile Resin x1 per 10 levels. This reward system will start at level 5 and will serve as a replacement for the Mystic Enhancement Ores that players used to get.

Besides, players don’t have to worry about receiving fewer ores because the developer also confirms that the valuable resource will still be distributed across other levels.

Since its global release last year, Genshin Impact’s free-to-play open-world experience took the gaming world by storm. Nonetheless, it has and will always be a Gacha game, so the title will always have consumable resources as a crucial part of its gameplay. However, the fact that miHoYo heard its fanbase and was willing to implement some changes is always a good thing.

Genshin Impact’s Original Resin system has always been an issue for many players, with many complaining that it limits the gameplay experience, especially for those who don’t want to fork over hard-earned money.

According to the Developers Discussion page, many players had an issue with the availability of the game’s Original Resin. Although there are different ways to earn the valuable resource, such as through Condensed Resin, there are numerous players out there who don’t enjoy using up precious hours just for grinding. Fortunately, those players will definitely enjoy what Version 1.3 has to offer.

Sadly, one aspect of this new resin system can only be enjoyed by those who have a Battle Pass. While many dedicated players will find no problem with this, those casual players won’t really see any major changes in resin gain even when Genshin Impact Version 1.3 gets launched.

Fortnite Soccer Tournament, Emotes, Skins Coming Soon

After bringing in rapping hamburger salesmen, bounty hunters, and superheroes, Fortnite will soon have an official representation of the world’s most famous sport – soccer. While big pop-culture and film crossovers typically make more headlines, developer Epic Games has collaborated with various sports leagues before addition to the game.

This includes bringing the other type of football to the game through official uniforms approved by the NFL and other skins inspired by the Air Jordan brand during Season 9. This week’s soccer-themed update is far more complex than either of those two choices, meaning that there could be interest in more partnerships with other leagues in the future.

Certainly, it appears that there is no stopping the crossover train when it comes to the hit battle royale title. The game recently wrapped up a huge crossover storyline with Marvel’s comic division, making storylines that are canon in that universe and introducing more characters into a gaming space than Square Enix’s Marvel Avengers.

The end of that season led to a story beat where characters from across various universes could join in Fortnite, making it more likely than ever that more characters from gaming, TV, film, and even the world of sports might emerge along the side the growing collection of crossover characters.

Now, Fortnite hits the pitch in more ways than one with emotes, game modes, and uniforms all from the world of soccer. The developers have collaborated with 20 soccer clubs from across the world, and players can pick from any of them when putting on the in-game uniform. Players will also be able to commemorate big moments with football star Pelé’s Air Punch emote, which is an official partnership between Epic Games and Pelé’s management company.

Players will also have the opportunity at receiving the Air Punch and the uniform by joining in the in-game Pelé Club tournament on January 20, with top players also participating in a contest for a real-life signature jersey.

Those who don’t win the emote can still buy it from the in-game store later in the week on January 23. For fans who just want to kick around a soccer ball for free, Epic Games has also added a football-themed island to Creative mode.

Players can join in teams of four for in-game tournaments to slam, punch, or kick the ball with a pickaxe towards the opponent’s goal. The mode comes complete with speed boosts and power-ups, making it a uniquely Fortnite version of the world’s favorite sport.
