Sony’s PlayStation 5 Outsells Microsoft’s Xbox Series X|S By A Staggering Five Times In Japan

A few days ago, Sony launched the PlayStation 5 which marked the transition of the popular brand to the next generation of video game consoles. Even though the PlayStation 5 is only a week old, Sony has immediately released the console’s first update, which is reported to bring quality of life enhancements to the next-gen machine.

As of writing, the exact details of what the new update will bring to the PlayStation 5 are still unknown, but Sony mentioned that “This system software update improves system performance.” However, in spite of the shortage of details, it seems that the latest update won’t be as colossal as what some fans might expect, provided that its total file size is just 866MB.

In addition, it is possible that Sony will be revealing the patch notes soon, so PlayStation 5 owners who are hesitant to download the update can wait for the company to reveal more details on what changes it brings to the console.

Of course, provided that the PlayStation 5 is a new piece of equipment, some owners have already come across issues with the new system, and these issues range from minor to major problems. The most significant issues that some owners might come face with their next-gen consoler relates to its Rest Mode feature.

Similar to the PlayStation 4, the PlayStation 5 lets players put the machine in Rest Mode to be able to run the console on low power while still being able to download software and updates. Sadly, some players are reporting that they are encountering a critical error that pops up after the console is put into rest mode.

The majority of players who have encountered this error were forced to reboot their PlayStation 5 to its factory settings, while more severe cases reported bricked consoles. As of the moment, the only solution to prevent encountering this error is to turn off the PlayStation 5’s rest mode feature.

It is still unknown whether the latest update will address this problem, but this will soon be known as more people download the latest firmware update. Aside from the rest mode issue, other PlayStation 5 owners are reporting issues when transferring files from the PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5, running PS4 games through an external hard drive, and connectivity issues with the DualSense controllers as well as the download queue bug.

It is also worth noting that some owners checked whether the update addresses the download queue bug but to no avail. Fortunately, it seems that there are no other major problems with the PlayStation 5 aside from the rest mode error and a few minor problems, but hopefully, the latest update will also be able to fix some of the minor problems that currently exist in the PlayStation 5 consoles.

Gears 5 continues to add to its unusual collection of DLC characters by including WWE’s most iconic trio – The New Day. For those unfamiliar in the wrestling universe, WWE’s The New Day consists of the former WWE Champion Kofi Kingston, big ball of sunshine Big E, and video gamer Xavier Woods.

Named Austin Creed in real life, Woods has been involved in the gaming community for a while now, from his YouTube channel UpUpDownDown to his special appearances at gaming conventions and his quest to host shows on the new G4.

Woods was also present during the E3 2019 to introduce Escape Mode in Gears 5 alongside fellow wrestling superstars Tyler Breeze and AJ Styles, so he’s definitely more than familiar with the game’s chainsaw hacking action.

For reasons only known to the Xbox marketing team, The New Day aren’t even the first wrestler to sport the COG armor and wield a Lancer. Batista was included in the game a few months ago, followed closely by his finishing move, Batista Bomb, as an execution animation.

With Gears 5’s Xbox Series X|S update, Batista was also able to replace Marcus Fenix in the main campaign if players wanted the wrestler to fulfill his acting dreams. The game also features a couple of Spartans from Halo: Reach and a set of characters from Terminator: Dark Fate as multiplayer options.

Xavier Woods revealed the animated look that he and his tag team partners will receive in Gears 5 via a new tweet a few hours ago. The reveal comes along with a new update for the game that introduces a chunk of new maps, characters, and even a weapon from the past games in the franchise. However, it appears that The New Day will be participating in the game sometime after that, as there’s no sign of the colorful unicorn loving trio in today’s patch notes.

While fans await the appearance of The New Day in Gears 5, they can consider trying several other titles where the wrestlers are featured. Obviously, the group has been consistent playable characters in WWE games for years, such as in the recently released WWE 2K Battlegrounds.

A more outside of the box cameo comes in Brawhalla, developed by Ubisoft, where platform character Xavier Woods fights alongside Roman Reigns, Macho Man Randy Savage, The Undertaker, and several more WWE superstars are available as skins for existing characters. Woods is also featured in Super Bomberman R along with other Konami guest characters and exclusive mascots. As a Bomber, Xavier can spawn a wrestling ring to defend himself from nearby explosions.

Xavier Woods may not have been contracted by the restored G4 as a host just yet, but featuring along the side of his teammates in an upcoming Gears 5 update still looks like a win. Although Big E recently began a solo career on Friday Night SmackDown, projects like this and the ongoing podcast show of The New Day show that the team is still united as friends in and out of the ring.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Adds Two New NPCs For Winter Update

Animal Crossing: New Horizons was only released earlier this year, yet it has already received a variety of new features and content thanks to its regular updates that don’t cost a single cent. Each new major event or holiday in New Horizons also means the addition of several new activities and furniture for players to enjoy.

Now, Nintendo and players alike are getting ready for the release of the latest update, which is scheduled to go live this November 19. This time around, fans can look forward to a bunch of winter and holiday-themed content and events.

Among these new inclusions, it appears that Animal Crossing: New Horizons will be bringing in two new NPCs. The first one will make an appearance during Turkey Day, which is the game’s version of Thanksgiving, while the other one will arrive during the Christmas season.

That being said, these two will be more than just visitors. Based on the new Winter Update trailer, the two new special NPCs will be asking assistance from the players, asking them to do a variety of tasks related to their respective holidays.

First up we have Franklin, who is a turkey that shows up on your island during Thanksgiving or Turkey Day. When he arrives, he will ask you for help as he cooks a fantastic Thanksgiving feast for all the villagers.

Since he’s known to be a professional chef, he will most likely do most of the cooking. However, you can still help him in other ways. Based on the trailer, we can see that players are expected to collect a variety of ingredients upon Franklin’s request, which will be used for the dish he’ll be making.

It will do you some good to help him out, too. After all, successfully assisting Franklin during his time of need will most likely earn you some cool rewards, as this is the case for other NPCs that visit your island during a specific holiday or event.

On the other hand, the second visitor is named Jingle, who is a black-nosed reindeer who will show up on your island on Toy Day or Christmas Eve. As you can imagine, Jingle will be asking festive requests from New Horizons players.

After you talk to Jingle, you will be tasked to carry around a sack of gifts around your island as you give them out to the different residents. In other words, you’re basically going to act as the Santa Claus on your island.

It looks like a pretty interesting activity to do during the holiday season, especially when you’re on vacation and have nothing else to do. Besides, just like Franklin, Jingle will also offer some neat rewards after you help him.

Among other things, the new Winter Update will also be bringing other new features to the table, such as new hairstyles and reactions. In addition to that, players will finally be able to expand their in-game house’s storage space.

Players will also be able to transfer saved data, which is something that many fans have been asking for since the game’s initial launch. Last but not least, fans can look forward to a brand-new free update some time in late January, according to the trailer. That being said, there’s a bunch of stuff you can do until then.

Players Can Expect Big Things From Sea of Thieves This 2021

If you’ve been keeping track of Sea of Thieves and its updates, 2020 was a great year for both the game and for developer Rare. The action-adventure pirate game received a slew of new content thanks to the regular stream of updates, as well as hit a milestone in terms of player count.

More specifically, Sea of Thieves reached 15 million players this year, which is definitely a cause for celebration. That being said, it seems that Rare has set its eyes on bigger things next year, and according to executive producer Joe Neate, players can expect the pirate adventure title to get even better in 2021.

That being said, people and companies alike are looking forward to 2021 hoping for a fresh, new start, including Rare.

Sea of Thieves was released way back in 2018, and it was definitely not as fleshed out then as it is now. Thanks to the continuous updates released by Rare, the new features and content slowly turned Sea of Thieves into the beloved game that it is today.

From changes made to its PvP mode to brand-new modes in general to even the addition of dog companions, the hardworking team behind Sea of Thieves transformed the bareboned video game from 2018 to a complex and enjoyable multiplayer adventure.

At this point, it’s hard to deny that 2020 brought great things to Sea of Thieves, which is saying something given how turbulent this year is due to the pandemic. So if the executive producer says that 2021 will be even bigger, then we should all be excited.

We can’t even begin to imagine what Sea of Thieves has in store for all of us next year! For now, all we can do is guess, although Neate did tease fans that the Shrouded Ghost might be added in the future.

Whatever it is that Rare has planned for the future of Sea of Thieves will surely be exciting. Hopefully, we don’t have to wait too long.

As we all know, next-generation consoles have already been released, and this seafaring action-adventure by Rare is, let’s say, going with the flow. More specifically, Sea of Thieves received a significant update on the Xbox Series X and S which greatly improved the game’s performance.

Scammers Are Fooling Online Shoppers Into Buying Fake PS5s

It’s been nearly a week since the PlayStation 5 was released in specific countries, and unfortunately, it appears that online scammers are already selling fakes to gullible shoppers.

We completely understand that most people are dying to get their hands on this brand-new PlayStation console, but we just want to quickly remind everyone that scammers thrive in situations like this, especially when demand is high and supplies are low.

While there are trustworthy and legitimate storefronts that restock and sell the console periodically, there are some individuals out there who may not have the patience to wait. Therefore, they end up looking for a PS5 online and purchase from sketchy sellers.

At the same time, we can’t blame people for their excitement, especially since it’s quite difficult to buy a PlayStation 5 right now given the fact that so many people want one, too. In addition, it’s possible that there’s not enough of the console in stock, as the sheer amount of people pre-ordering the PS5 is overwhelming.

Along with the fact that the console is undeniably too expensive, we can see why some people would turn to other options such as looking for and buying a PS5 from websites such as eBay and Craigslist. While the featured pictures may seem genuine, there’s no guarantee that you’re buying from a trustworthy seller.

In this case, the best example would be ERN, who posted on Instagram warning people about scammers and reminding them to be wary if or when purchasing a PS5 online. You see, the user found an online seller that had the new console on offer.

When ERN met up with the seller, however, things didn’t go the way he wanted. The seller gave him a PS5 box that looked legit, but the console inside the box was a fake, much to his dismay.

ERN proceeded to kick the fake PS5 console out of frustration, and honestly, he has every right to be angry. What makes things even worse was that the scammer sold the phony console for $1,000, which is more than the original price of a genuine PlayStation 5.

You really can’t be too complacent these days, especially since the PS5 is in high demand and scammers are rampant. If you do decide to buy a PS5 outside of official or trustworthy stores, then you need to make sure that what you’re getting is real by checking the product first before sealing the deal.

Even though Sony’s next-gen console can be purchased in several online stores, it may be for the best if you remain patient and wait for when legit stores restock the product, perhaps during Black Friday.

Besides, there have been a few predictions made claiming that storefronts might start selling PS5s for less six months after its release. So, it’s probably best if you buy one if or when that happens.

We understand if you don’t want to wait that long, but at the same time, you shouldn’t pass up the chance to purchase a discounted PS5 in the safest way possible. While we understand the desire to experience the console as soon as possible, having to wait a few months is much, much better than getting scammed.

Pokemon GO Adds Shiny Goldeen and Lake Legends Event Next Week

Next week, Pokemon GO will be holding the Lake Legends event, which will bring back three Legendary Pokemon into raid rotation and add the Shiny form of Goldeen into the game. This Pokemon GO event will also feature a number of water-type Pokemon spawning more frequently, making it the ideal event for Magikarp and Psyduck fans.

Niantic has made it a habit of organizing regular in-game events that features various Pokemon or types. These events help keep Pokemon GO fresh and give players the chance to capture rare and legendary Pokemon.

One of the highlights of these events is that the developers sometimes add new Shiny Pokemon to the game. While each Pokemon has a Shiny form in the main Pokemon games, these Shiny forms are only added to Pokemon GO periodically. The Lake Legends event will witness the comeback of the Legendary Lake trio, also dubbed as the Lake Guardians. The Legendary Pokemon are Mesprit, Uxie, and Azelf, and were first introduced in the Sinnoh region. They will be appearing in Max Raids starting November 24 until November 30.

However, these legendaries will be region-locked, which means different Lake Spirits will show up exclusively in various parts of the world. Luckily, Pokemon GO lets players use Remote Raid passes to participate in raids no matter where they are located.

Additionally, Niantic will also be adding the Shiny form of Goldeen to the game. Goldeen is a Kanto-based Gen 1 water-type Pokemon whose Shiny form turns the golden part of its body into red. While usually found near water bodies, trainers can utilize incense to attract the Pokemon more often for the whole duration of the event.

The hit game follows the adventures of Eivor, A Viking-turned-assassin, as they establish a settlement inside English territory in a bid to widen their influence and reach while also unfolding some mysteries soaked in Norse mythology.

It’s been an exciting release week for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, as the new entry to the popular franchise has been met with mixed reactions, and a more contradictory response than the franchise usually sees.
