Apex Legends Fans Say Goodbye to Wraith’s Naruto Run Animation

When Apex Legends received a major update on Monday, it included a bunch of new content such as a new collection event, crossplay support, as well as the launch of the Flashpoint limited-time game mode.

Sadly, the update also downgraded something of Wraith’s, who is Apex Legends’ top-tier assassin legend. The battle royale genre has been saturated as of late, but what makes Apex Legends stand out from the rest is its ability to let players take on the roles of legends.

These legends are basically similar to the player-characters you’ll find in other shooter titles like Valorant and Overwatch. Apex Legends is set in the same world as Respawn Entertainment’s Titanfall series, and given how well the title is doing right now, it’s safe to say that it’s a worthy competitor to highly-acclaimed games such as Fortnite and PUBG.

What’s more, the free-to-play title has been consistently growing and improving itself thanks to its frequent updates and LTMs.

That being said, developers sometimes have to make difficult choices and necessary sacrifices to balance out the characters and consequently make the gameplay experience even better.

This is exactly the case with Wraith, as her running animation had to be changed. The running animation in question is an apparent reference to the way ninjas run in anime series’ such as Naruto.

The distinctive running style was made even more popular when a newscast was able to catch a participant during 2019’s ‘Storm Area 51 Movement’ Naruto-running in the back.

https://twitter.com/TitanfallBlog/status/1313227462415876098?s=20

Most players had a few laughs out of the iconic Naruto-run animation, but sadly, fans have noticed that she has an unfair advantage compared to the other legends. More specifically, Wraith’s Naruto-run causes her to hunch her back, which makes her a significantly harder target than those legends who run in an upright manner.

Besides, Wraith already has a pretty high win rate and this run animation simply makes her even more overpowered than she already is. As such, the ninja run had to go. It’s a sad yet fair decision on Respawn’s part, especially since Wraith is already considered to be one of the best legends to use in Apex Legends Season 6.

In the most recent patch notes, the studio acknowledged that Wraith’s running animation was indeed “iconic” and that the team didn’t want to let go of it. However, it was ultimately the best way to nerf Wraith without having to make any other changes to her kit.

That said, Respawn might even consider making Wraith’s abilities more powerful, but it all depends on how she performs post-nerf.

On another note, players can expect the meta to make some changes as well in the upcoming months. This is because by November, Apex Legends is expected to have a bunch of new content and changes coming to the competitive season.

In addition to that, dataminers recently reported that the newest legend in the game will be Horizon, even though there have been rumors floating around suggesting that Valk would be coming to Apex Legends.

We’re definitely going to miss Wraith’s Naruto-run, but Apex Legends’ new update has all kinds of new features as well, which will surely ease the pain.

How to Gather Lollipops and Candy for Animal Crossing New Horizons Halloween Event

0
spooky-item-feature-edited-780x450

With the Fall update going online last week, the Halloween season is taking over Animal Crossing New Horizons by storm. Because of the Fall update, pumpkin crafting materials are now available in-game to farm and harvest. Pumpkins can be used to customize and craft various Halloween-inspired items called Spooky Set.

The Spooky Set is comprised of 17 various Halloween-themed items. A few of which can be purchased from the Nook’s Cranny in order for players to learn and craft the DIY recipes received from villagers.

However, some recipes and items of the Spooky Set can only be obtained during the exclusive Halloween event on October 31 and will require candies to purchase. Luckily, Animal Crossing New Horizon enthusiasts and YouTube Mayor Mori has revealed a few methods in gathering more candies for the Halloween event.

For starters, players can purchase candies from the Nook’s Cranny for 120 Bells each. Sadly, Tommy and Timmy are only going to sell one candy per customer each day. The event is still a few weeks away which means players still have a lot of chances in obtaining candies up to October 31. However, given how random items are provided in the game, optimizing the collection of candies is the best way to guarantee a player gets all of the items included in the Spooky Set.

Apart from purchasing candy on their own island, players can visit a friend’s island via the Dodo Airlines to buy candy at the Nook’s Cranny over there. However, similar to one’s own Nook Crann, they will be able to purchase only one candy per day.

Another way of obtaining extra candies is to make a secondary character and play them to purchase candy from the Nook Cranny. Each island resident can purchase their own candy every day and then drop it anywhere on the island for the main character to pick up.

Aside from these, players can also get extra candy from villagers. However, players must first wear Halloween costumes and visit their neighbors on Halloween. If a villager is impressed with the player’s costume, they will give a candy.

During the same event, giving Jack a candy will reward players with a replica of his outfit. After obtaining his costume, players can dress up like Jack and surprise unwary villagers into giving more candies. It is worth noting that players can only scare each villager once while wearing Jack’s outfit.

While there are numerous ways of gathering candies until the Halloween event, there is another kind of candy players will need to obtain called lollipops. Lollipops are Jack’s candy and it’s what players need to give to him in exchange for the Spooky Set items only available from him.

To gather lollipops, players should share their candies with villagers on October 31. In exchange for the candy, villagers will either give a random spooky DIY recipe, spooky item or lollipop. As of writing, this is the only confirmed way of getting lollipops. Therefore, attending the Halloween event with as much candy is a great idea.

Demo Details About Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory Has Been Leaked

screenshot-www-youtube-com-2020-10-07-18_14_51

During this year’s Tokyo Game Show, Square Enix revealed that there would be a playable demo for Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory, but it didn’t reveal a lot of information about the demo asides from that.

The developer only said that fans can expect the demo sometime in mid-October and that it will only be released in Japan, although a Western release was also being considered during that time.

Now, we have more details about the demo, and it’s all thanks to Microsoft. For more context, it appears that Microsoft made a mistake and unintentionally published Melody of Memory’s demo page on the Xbox website way earlier than it was supposed to.

Of course, the company had to quickly take down the page, but not before a lot of fans were already able to peruse its contents and read the information found there. In fact, one fan who goes by ALumia_Italia on Twitter was able to take a screenshot of the page.

https://twitter.com/ALumia_Italia/status/1313539709239468033?s=20

As you can see on the posted screenshot, the Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory demo will have four Field Battle Music Stages and 2 Co-Op Music Stages. The Field Battle Music Stages are the different levels that you can play in either the World Tour Mode or the game’s story mode. As for the Co-Op Music Stages, well, the name itself is already self-explanatory.

The page also notes that if you try out the demo, you will not be able to transfer your saved demo data to the full game. This also means that if you earn any achievements from playing the demo, you will have to obtain them all over again once you purchase the full title.

In any case, this makes sense since the Field Battle Music Stages are pretty much intertwined with the game’s story mode.

It’s definitely worth noting that the accidentally-published content was posted to the English version of Microsoft’s Xbox site. An Xbox page containing information on the demo’s Japanese version was already made before.

So, the fact that the published content was in English could indicate that Square Enix decided to release a demo on the Western side of the globe after all.

screenshot-www-youtube-com-2020-10-07-18_14_33

That being said, the page didn’t mention when the Melody of Memory demo will be released in either Japan or the West, so we’ll continue to play the waiting game for now. We believe that fans won’t have to wait too long, though.

After all, the demo’s initial release date was sometime in mid-October, and since we’re already on the second week of the month, we’re sure that more details about the demo as well as its release date should come to light anytime soon.

Once the Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory demo is launched though, you can expect that it will play like your usual Kingdom Hearts game. We can say this with certainty because eSports player Kasumi Ashizawa tested it during the Tokyo Game Show, and he said that the controls worked similarly to the other games in the franchise.

Dataminer Leaks Apex Legends’ Halloween 2020 Skins

One great thing about Apex Legends is that fans always have a lot of new content to look forward to once a new update goes live. The title’s Aftermarket event as well as the crossplay support update was recently launched, which is undoubtedly a gold mine not only for the players but for the dataminers as well who want to provide the fans with a quick preview of Apex Legends’ future.

One great example is the fact that just today, players were rewarded with information regarding the upcoming skins that will be included in the Halloween event. This information came from a reliable Apex Legends dataminer known as Shurgtal.

Shurgtal took to Twitter today to reveal information about the new Halloween skins, which we expect to be available on the October 22 update. That being said, there’s nothing surprising about these skins, as they look pretty similar to what Respawn Entertainment released last Halloween season.

However, they come in new color palettes, which is exciting in its own way. The Banshee Queen Loba skin can be considered as an exception to this rule though, as she was only added to the game around May this year.

Among the other new content to look forward to, Apex Legends will also be introducing a brand-new LTM called Shadow Royale. This information comes from a different dataminer this time known as Biast12, and they say that the new Shadow Royale mode will work similarly to the Shadowfall mode from last year, but this one will have a few changes.

The difference is that Shadow Royale won’t be a case of Shadows versus alive players. This time around, the mode will be like your regular Apex Legends match, but you will be able to come back as Shadows so that you can help your living teammates win the match.

In addition to that, Shadows will also experience some improvements, such as having a more potent skill set like the ability to regenerate health.

Information from Biast12 didn’t end there, though. The dataminer also revealed that reports of a new legend known as Horizon was uncovered within the most recent patch. Biast12 goes on to say that Horizon’s coding came as a surprise, as they predicted that the next legend would be Valk.

We still don’t know anything else about the new legend Horizon and what their abilities may be. However, given how often they’re being talked about in social media, more details about them might be released and hopefully soon.

At this point, Biast12 feels like a gift that keeps on giving — yet there’s more. The dataminer went on a data deep dive and found new information regarding the Nintendo Switch variant of Apex Legends.

So far, Respawn Entertainment has been adamant about not revealing anything about the Switch update, but Biast12 was able to discover a line of code that would reveal an error message if there’s no connection to Nintendo Online Service.

Understandably, this isn’t a lot of information and it definitely doesn’t reveal much to those players waiting for a release date. However, the fact that the update now has code regarding the Switch version could mean it’s coming soon.

Activision Blizzard Shuts Down French Office

According to a recent Bloomberg report, Activision Blizzard’s Versailles, France office will be officially closed. Back in 2019, Activision Blizzard’s French office hired about 400 workers. This French location was responsible for many things, such as handling the press, customer support, localization, and even marketing for the video game publisher’s games in Europe.

However, the future of the office has been significantly shaky as of late due to the company laying off a hefty amount of employees. More specifically, a massive number of 134 workers received their severance packages at the beginning of 2020.

An anonymous source tipped off Bloomberg saying that Activision Blizzard initially planned to move a considerable amount of French employees to the London office. However, this did not go through due to two reasons.

First was the advent of the coronavirus pandemic, which, as you know, required everyone to stay home and self-quarantine. The second reason was the complications brought about by Brexit.

At the moment, we don’t know what will happen to the employees from the French location, and we have yet to wait for Activision Blizzard to make a comment regarding this.

On another note, an investment group that stood as a steward for Activision Blizzard shareholders asserted that CEO Bobby Kotick earns way too much. However, the United States Securities and Exchange Commission clarified the reason for this by saying that Kotick has privileges that authorize him “multiple bites at the apple” due to “multiple, overlapping award provisions.”

In addition to that, some of the bonuses Kotick receives far surpasses the overall pay that many other CEOs in the video game industry receive.

screenshot-www-activisionblizzard-com-2020-10-07-16_45_10

This most recent news of Activision Blizzard’s downsizing came in a timely manner. It’s quite amusing in a sad way how the company has been boasting its “record results” in its earnings reports, yet employees have been protesting the working conditions and the pay inequity.

In August, an Activision Blizzard internal spreadsheet was publicized to the world, revealing how there’s an incredible pay difference between those executives who are at the top of the tower and those employees who are merely working in quality assurance and customer support.

During this time, the U.S. Blizzard employees were sharing and comparing their salary figures and gathered the human workforce together to try and demand not only better treatment, but an increase in pay as well.

Similarly in 2018, a comparable situation occurred when Activision Blizzard dismissed about 800 employees, which was more or less 8% of the company’s staff.

The layoff announcements were made during an earnings call, which is also when the top dogs ironically congratulated themselves for breaking yet another earnings record. It appears that history really does repeat itself.

Many are aware that Activision Blizzard is one of the most successful companies in the industry and this cannot be argued. Based on what we have learned from Activision Blizzard, there is a difference between being ‘extremely successful’ and being ‘merely successful,’ and it appears that the awful exploitation of its workforce is a requirement to become the former.

Genshin Impact Automatically Censors ‘Controversial’ Words in Chat

screenshot-www-youtube-com-2020-10-07-15_32_56

Ever since its release, many players have fallen in love with the world of Genshin Impact and all its features. The free-to-play RPG has been on a steady rise towards the top. In fact, it’s considered to be the biggest global launch so far of any Chinese title, with over 21 million pre-registrations throughout different platforms.

Even though the game originated in China, it has found a huge audience internationally. This is why many players have been understandably disheartened when they found out that certain words like ‘Taiwan’ and ‘Hong Kong’ get automatically censored in the chat.

Senior Analyst Daniel Ahmad explains on Twitter why Genshin Impact has this kind of censorship. Ahmad points out that since miHoYo is a developer based in mainland China, it also has to follow the many rules and regulations that are being set there.

In these regulations, you’ll find a list of words and content that aren’t allowed, especially if they are considered to be a danger to “China’s national unity.”

screenshot-www-youtube-com-2020-10-07-15_31_39

The senior analyst continues his explanation by saying that even though these laws are required in Chinese games, they aren’t necessarily compulsory outside of China. As a matter of fact, this is exactly why Chinese developers sometimes create a separate Chinese version of a game aside from a global version, as these two will have different content.

Ahmad cited PUBG Mobile as a great example, as this battle royale was developed by a Chinese company called Tencent. Thus, words like ‘Taiwan’ are also censored out as decreed by the law.

In line with that, this actually isn’t the first time that games have censored the word ‘Taiwan.’ Nearing the end of August, players discovered that the classic title Baseball Stars 2 had gotten rid of any and all references to both Taiwan and Taipei after it was ported.

In this case, ‘Taiwan Dragons’ was changed to simply ‘Dragons,’ and we speculate that this is most likely caused by the increasing political strain between Taiwan and China. From what we can see, Chinese developers are committed to following China’s laws and policies by regulating in-game content.

That being said, this situation goes farther than just in-game censorship. Back in 2019, Hearthstone player Blitzchung was banned by Blizzard for voicing out his support towards the 2019-2020 Hong Kong protests during a post-match interview.

Later on, Blizzard decided to reduce his ban from a year to only 6 months, and they even reinstated the money he won. However, Blizzard stood by their decision by saying that Blitzchung’s sentiments breached the policies that he agreed to.

It’s rather unfortunate, but it’s highly unlikely that miHoYo will be removing Genshin Impact’s censorship. For now, all we can do is sit, wait, and hope that the developers decide to release a global version so that players will no longer be restricted by China’s rules.

That said, the censorship doesn’t seem to be too much of a big deal, though, since more and more individuals have been downloading the game. In fact, the mobile version alone has had 17 million downloads already.

Monster Hunter Rise for the Switch Won’t Have Voice Chat Support

1
screenshot-www-youtube-com-2020-10-07-10_21_49

Fans are looking forward to Monster Hunter Rise for numerous reasons, one being the fact that it’s the first installment in the franchise to be built from the ground up for the Nintendo Switch. The bad news is that the game won’t have voice chat, despite it supporting a co-op mode of up to four players.

Capcom confirmed this sad news during an interview with IGN. Players will have the ability to type messages, perform gestures, or create quick commands in order to communicate with other players. However, the hardware itself won’t support voice chat and the Switch Online mobile app won’t have this feature either.

When IGN asked for an explanation as to why this is the case, they only responded by saying that they “cannot comment on Nintendo Switch hardware features.” That being said, we’re not altogether surprised by this given Nintendo’s meager attempts at trying to make voice chat a thing on the Switch previously.

Some time in 2017, a few months after Nintendo released the Switch, they also introduced phone-enabled voice chat for the game Splatoon 2. If you wanted to use this feature, you simply had to download an app, plug in your headphones, and then invite your Switch friends to the same virtual room so that you could talk to each other.

screenshot-www-youtube-com-2020-10-07-10_21_49

Three years have passed and this is still the case, the only difference is that more games support this feature now compared to when it first started. There is a range of games that support this phone-enabled voice chat — from first-party multiplayer titles like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate to third-party games like Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3Dragon Quest Builders 2, and even Stardew Valley.

As for built-in voice chat on the Switch itself, this isn’t completely unheard of as well. There are numerous games that allow you to plug in a headset directly into the console so that you can converse with your friends or teammates, such as Fortnite and Overwatch.

Tech company Vivox even made their voice chat SDK (software development kit) last year, which is what Fortnite uses for the Switch. In fact, this kit is even available to any developer that wants to use it.

On the other hand, there are features in games – like Apex Legends’ ping system – that allowed you to easily call out enemies and gather supplies with a simple click of a button. This kind of feature demonstrates how it’s possible to cooperate and communicate effectively with teammates even without voice chat.

However, it’s definitely more fun to be able to talk and joke around with your friends when playing multiplayer games. This is especially so for those peaceful moments when you’re waiting for the others to change loadouts, or when you want to compare some loot.

It will already be 2021 when Monster Hunter Rise is scheduled to be released, and given the many technological advances so far, we fail to understand why this extremely popular title won’t have something as simple and as necessary as voice chat support.

Watch Dogs Legion Will Have Another Assassin’s Creed Crossover

0
screenshot-www-youtube-com-2020-10-07-08_02_00

If you’ve been a long-time fan of Ubisoft, you know by now that its open-world games have connecting characteristics. For instance, you know at this point that you can look forward to tight combat and enemy outposts, along with many points of interest.

What we’re trying to say is that if you play one Ubisoft title, you learn how to play all of them. That being said, two of the biggest franchises by Ubisoft have more in common than others.

Through a new post-launch content trailer, a Ubisoft member revealed that yet another character from Assassin’s Creed will be featured in Watch Dogs Legion. If you get the game’s season pass, you will ultimately unlock “Bloodline,” which is a story-driven tie-in that stars characters from the past Watch Dogs titles.

More specifically, players will be able to make use of Aiden Pierce, who is the protagonist for the first game, as well as Wrench, who is the sociable masked hacker from the second game.

screenshot-www-youtube-com-2020-10-07-08_02_00

What’s more, Watch Dogs Legion will apparently introduce a character named Darcy, who happens to be a member of the Assassin’s Order which you may know from the Assassin’s Creed series.

That said, Ubisoft hasn’t said anything about how this crossover will affect both game series. Is Darcy’s appearance simply a fun cameo, or is this an indication that Watch Dogs and Assassin’s Creed have a canonical connection?

In any case, this wouldn’t be the first time that these two games had a crossover. In fact, this has been happening ever since the first Watch Dogs installment. In one of the missions you can complete there, you’re assigned to take down someone named Olivier Garneau, a CCO for a company known as Abstergo.

When the mission begins, you hear Aiden say that Garneau is involved in some sketchy business, such as “patented genomes” and “genetic memory manipulation,” among other things. This definitely seems like something from Assassin’s Creed.

If that’s not enough proof, the mission’s title is “Requiescat in Pace,” which is a line commonly said by Ezio Auditore, the main character of three Assassin’s Creed titles. Not only that, but Garneau and Abstergo are Assassin’s Creed references as well.

screenshot-www-youtube-com-2020-10-07-09_29_53

Garneau made an appearance in the modern parts of 2013’s Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. During these portions of the title, you are able to snoop around the headquarters of Abstergo, which is the supposed evil organization in the world of Assassin’s Creed.

In the process of poking around, you end up learning that Garneau was known to frequently travel to Chicago, which is where Aiden Pierce is located as well. Fast forward to 2017’s Assassin’s Creed Origins and we meet Layla Hassan, who was once an employee of Abstergo.

If you check her laptop, you’ll come across evidence showing the deaths of important individuals in the modern-day storyline. Among the departed, you’ll find the name of Olivier Garneau.

In other news, Ubisoft also revealed that Watch Dogs Legion’s multiplayer mode will go live on December 3. You and other players will be able to take part in co-op missions as you roam around London.

PlayStation Plus Free Games For October 2020 Now Available

0
ps_plus_october_2020_rzkprjh

Players with an active PlayStation Plus subscription can now download October 2020’s free games into their consoles. This month, the two free games available for download are Vampyr and Need for Speed Payback. Players should make sure to log in and add these to their libraries.

As usual, both games will be available to all players with a PlayStation Plus subscription throughout the whole month. Once they have downloaded the games into their libraries, they will remain accessible as long as the player is subscribed to PlayStation Plus. However, players have mixed reactions about this month’s free games.

Both Vampyr and Need for Speed Payback gathered mixed reviews during their respective launch dates, but have since made a few decent upgrades to address some major issues. While these games might seem like niche offerings, they should bring happiness to players who love racing games or find the fusion of horror and RPG provided by Vampyr appealing.

Need for Speed Payback is an open-world racing game released in 2017. It has a few problems upon its sleeves but racing game fanatics are guaranteed to enjoy hours of entertainment with the game. Players will be able to immerse themselves in detailed vehicle customizations which let them construct the perfect car that suits them along with a decent story. In classic Need for Speed fashion, players will be able to drive real cars that are similar to their real-world designs.

Meanwhile, Vampyr introduces players into a mysterious world filled with horror themes and traditional action RPG components. Players will be taking control of Dr. Reid after he successfully transitions into a vampire and details his problems. By nature, he doesn’t want to kill or hurt other humans but the bloody appetite of vampirism makes this an extremely arduous task.

Reviews for Vampyr are mostly average with most critics giving it a seven out of ten rating. Despite this, Vampyr is full of amazing content that is worth trying, especially because PlayStation Plus subscribers are getting this game for free. One major problem with Vampyr is the ability to finish the game without killing anybody in a pacifist run.

October’s PlayStation Plus free games stand out among others for one particular reason – this is the last month of PlayStation Plus that doesn’t include the PlayStation 5. Along with the release of the next-gen console, players who will subscribe to the service will have access to the PlayStation Plus Collection which introduces the most popular games of the PlayStation 4 into the PlayStation 5 device.

New Valorant Map Revealed

0
screenshot-www-youtube-com-2020-10-07-07_12_29

For the past few days, Riot Games has been teasing fans with posts implying that something cold or related to ice was making its way to the popular first-person shooter Valorant.

Many fans took this as a sign that a new map was going to be added to the game and that it was going to be set somewhere that has a lot of ice. They were right, of course. Just today, Riot confirmed to the fans that a new map will be included in Valorant and it will be called “Icebox.” This new map is set to arrive with the forthcoming Episode 1, Act 3 update.

The end of Valorant’s Episode 1, Act 2 is almost upon us. In fact, the conclusion for the second Act will take place this upcoming October 13. Once Act 2 ends, the Act 3 update will immediately be launched, bringing with it numerous changes to the game’s ranked mode.

In addition to the newly-announced Icebox map, you’ll be seeing a new battle pass and possibly a new Agent as well.

Riot Games revealed the new map through a short teaser trailer. Given the arena’s name, Icebox will be set in a place that’s completely covered in ice. From what we can see, it appears that players will be able to battle it out from inside and outside of an iced-over dockyard.

As the trailer pans around the map to give us a good look at the area, we can see that there are enormous ship containers spread throughout the place. Wrecked ships are also present, as they are frozen solid into place.

Icebox is similar to Split in a way that it has a lot of ropes scattered around. That being said, fans were taken by surprise that Riot is releasing a map this early. When Valorant was released, executive producer Anna Donlon said that the studio only plans to release a new map every Episode and not every Act.

As such, it would make more sense if Riot released Icebox during Episode 2, which is supposed to take place after Episode 1, Act 3. On the other hand, Donlon did say that it’s possible that Riot would stray from the original plan, but we’re still surprised that they would deviate so early in the game’s life.

screenshot-www-youtube-com-2020-10-07-07_12_29

screenshot-www-youtube-com-2020-10-07-07_35_15

In any case, this unexpected map reveal comes as a pleasant surprise. At this point, it’s highly unlikely that fans would complain about a new map when they’ve been requesting for new ones for quite some time now.

The arrival of Icebox means that Valorant would have five maps now. At least this time, the new map will add a breath of fresh air to the game, especially for those who have gotten tired of the same, repeating maps.

We don’t know yet if Icebox will be released on the same day as Act 3, but if we base on Riot’s previous actions, the Ascent map was released around the same time as Episode 1 Act 1. In other words, it’s definitely possible for them to do the same with Icebox.

Act 3 will go live by next week and Valorant fans are definitely looking forward to all the new content that Riot has planned.
