Nintendo Announces Super Mario 3D All-Stars for Switch

How time flies! In celebration of Super Mario Bros.’ 35th anniversary, Nintendo has announced the release of Super Mario 3D All-Stars for the Switch. This is a collection of the optimized versions of three other Mario games, namely Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy.

Not only that, but this collection will feature an in-game music player mode, which will allow you to listen to all the songs and music featured in all three games. Just like in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, all tracks can be played even when the screen is turned off.

Everything in the collection has updated Joy-Con controls with rumble, and you can still even make use of the motion controls in Super Mario Galaxy if you want to. All three games will have optimized resolutions, but there will be an updated 16:9 aspect ratio for Super Mario Sunshine.

Nintendo also revealed that the physical copies of Super Mario 3D All-Stars will be limited. Additionally, it appears that the game will only have a digital release until March 31, 2021. We’re still waiting for more information from Nintendo as to whether or not they will be releasing the collection again sometime in the future.

Fans are also a bit disappointed to find out that Super Mario Galaxy 2 is not a part of Super Mario 3D All-Stars. It’s possible that Nintendo has future plans for this game, but for now, it’s suspiciously absent from the Super Mario recap in the big Mario 35 Direct and there’s no news yet if they will be releasing it for the Switch anytime soon.

Also, we noticed a small disclaimer on the Super Mario 3D All-Stars product page. It states that you’ll need an extra set of Joy-Cons if you wish to play Super Mario Galaxy in co-op on a Switch Lite.

However, Nintendo has clarified that Joy-Con motion controls will only be used in Super Mario Galaxy for the star pointer in docked mode. In handheld mode, on the other hand, you can use the touch screen to control the star pointer.

Super Mario 3D All-Stars will be released for the Nintendo Switch on September 18, but you can go ahead and either pre-order it or add it to your wishlist via the Nintendo eShop.

Hello Games Working on a New ‘Huge, Ambitious Game’ Like No Man’s Sky

Hello Games No Man's Sky

Hello Games’ big game, No Man’s Sky, has the trajectory that has been followed by only a very few games. Its hype was huge, its launch was a disappointment, and for over three years, its fans demanded special exceptions for refunds on Steams and later paid for a full-size thank you billboard. This is probably one of the most remarkable comebacks in videogame history.

The developer of No Man’s Sky, Hello Games, recently launched The Last Campfire. It offers a very different and smaller sort of gaming experience. However, the studio confirmed that they won’t stick to that gaming style anymore.

In fact, Sean Murray, one of the founders of Hello Games, told Polygon that they currently have another “huge, ambitious game like No Man’s Sky” brewing in their studio. Although he didn’t elaborate on the game details, he instead shared the ideas he learned from the launch of No Man’s Sky. In the end, he was proud to say he didn’t really regret the path that the game took.

Murray said that every Indie game developer will have to face a difficult choice, like how it was hard for him to actually know what’s the right path for No Man’s Sky at that time of its launch. He described his interest and excitement on building the game as being in a rocket ship, launched towards the sun while building the rocket on his way up.

He then added, “Where we’ve ended up with the game (No Man’s Sky), where we have hundreds of millions of hours played and a really happy community and all of that kind of thing, you know, I’m okay with that deal that we did, right?”

The deal he’s talking about is presumably a sort of reference to Hello Games’ marketing partnership with Sony. This partnership was what let to the game being included in Sony’s presentation at E3.

Being publicized by Sony made No Man’s Sky a source of high expectations. However, it also caused some dismay among fans when the game seemed like it’s become exclusive in PlayStation 4. Fortunately, a few days after its PS4 release, the PC version came out next.

However, despite Murray’s unregretful attitude towards No Man’s Sky’s trajectory, he also said he doesn’t wanna go down that exact same road anymore. According to him, that process was extremely hard for the staff of Hello Games and he wouldn’t want to put anyone on that same experience again.

Fans can probably hold on to this. Based on No Man’s Sky’s success, seeing as it retain its regular appearance on Steam’s Top 100 List, it seems like Hello Games already learned a lesson or two. This can be deduced as them having the stability and experience to never repeat their past downfall.

Murray, however, said he’s not exactly sure how to handle this next ‘huge and ambitious game.’ This is after Hello Games surprisingly launched its latest release, The Last Campfire, last week on the Epic Games Store.

He also said that as he looked back, he’s not so sure if every press opportunity and things of this sort that they grabbed before is truly super important to the outcome of their game. In fact, in 2016, even the Sony Worldwide Studios president, Shuhei Yoshida, was also skeptical of Hello Games’ approach. He actually said that their PR strategy is not great at all.

New Hashashin Class Appears in Black Desert SEA and Black Desert Mobile

Pearl Abyss has announced that a new class has been added to both Black Desert SEA and Black Desert Mobile, an open-world action MMORPG. Since this update has been officially launched, you will now have the ability to meet up with the Hashashin class as well as claim rewards whether you are using a PC or a mobile device.

The Hashashin is very much like an assassin, and he is a warrior of Aal, his native Valencian god. Hashashin has the awesome ability to control sandstorms and blend with sand. This doesn’t come as a surprise, though, since GM Joel describes him as an “assassin of the desert.”

Not only that, but he has the ability to quickly disappear and reappear in battle, all while summoning whirlwinds made out of sand to inflict damage to his enemies. He uses a Shamshir and as for his combat style, it’s best described as close to mid-range.

That being said, Black Desert is currently hosting a series of events in celebration of Hashashin’s arrival. Only until September 16, adventurers will be rewarded with all kinds of special items such as Cron Stones.

For those who log into Black Desert SEA, a Radiant Adventure Box will be given as a reward. For the entirety of the event, you will be able to acquire extra buffs as well via the Hot-time event.

On the other hand, Black Desert Mobile players whose Hashashin’s will reach level 60 before September 28 will be rewarded with two items: a Jade Ring and Jade Bracelet. As a matter of fact, this will be the first time that Abyssal-grade accessories are given as rewards.

In addition, you will be able to receive a Level 60 Character Generator Coupon if you level up Hashashin to level 50. This coupon can be used to receive an Ascended or Awakened character. If you want to receive items by doing something completely easy, simply log into the game every day until September 30.

Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne was originally a PS2 game that was released in 2004. Now that technology has greatly developed and games have been receiving remasters left and right, Shin Megami Tensei 3 HD is currently in the works for the PS4 and Nintendo Switch.

Previously, we were only able to get a peek at the new game thanks to Atlus’ live stream. Now, however, a new Japanese trailer has been released, flexing Shin Megami Tensei‘s new and improved visuals.

This makes it the second trailer for the game, the first one being revealed during a Nintendo Direct Mini. We can also see Dante in this new trailer, who is a character from Devil May Cry. Fun fact: he also made an appearance in the PS2 version as well.

That being said, do note that this won’t be a full remake of Shin Megami Tensei III: NocturneThis means that this new version will still look pretty much the same as the original one, although it will definitely be more smoothed over visually.

Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD will be released in Japan this upcoming October 29, but it will be released to the rest of the world by Spring 2021.

Grab Borderlands 2’s Commander Lilith DLC for Free

For just this month, you can get Borderlands 2’s Commander Lilith DLC for free on the Epic Games Store. Released way back in 2019, Commander Lilith & the Fight for Sanctuary is a Borderlands 2 DLC that was used as a way to hype up Borderlands 3.

You, the player, will come to the aid of Lilith and her companions the Crimson Raiders. There has a been a Dahl invasion, and you will be fighting alongside Lilith, doing all you can to protect Pandora.

It has a lot of pretty cool features, such as increasing the level capacity to 80 and even giving you the option to start a new character once you’re at level 30. One thing that makes this DLC so great is that it gives you the option to skip the tutorial – thank goodness!

ss_ba0d77b4089078cfb425ddbe5bbb35704d74567a-1920x1080-2069092

During its first month, it was free on Steam. Now, it’s free again but this time on the Epic Games Store. This is great because Commander Lilith & the Fight for Sanctuary is the only DLC that’s not included in the Borderlands Handsome Collection that was given away for free last May.

This makes it a great opportunity to grab the DLC if you don’t have it yet. Once you have successfully downloaded Commander Lilith & the Fight for Sanctuary, you can start it anytime by going to the new “Fight for Sanctuary” area via a Fast Travel station.

You definitely shouldn’t miss out on this, since it will only be free for a limited time. The free promo will run for the entire month of September until October 2.

The Fall Guys official Twitter account has announced that there will be a new addition – or obstacle – in some of its current mini-games. Big Yeetus: a big, candy cane-colored hammer that will randomly appear out of nowhere to give you a big whack.

Big Yeetus was announced on September 2, and the Fall Guys Twitter account has not stopped talking about it since. They have retweeted various fan art for this newly-announced hammer, as well as tweeting teasers as to whether or not Big Yeetus is actually real.

In addition to that, they have also tweeted a request to actor Norman Reedus, asking him if he’s willing to become a voice actor for the said hammer. On the other hand, the game’s development studio Mediatonic is being more mysterious about it by tweeting: “Following a deluge of media enquiries, we would like to confirm that we are not offering official press comment on the existence of this so-called ‘Big Yeetus.’

https://twitter.com/FallGuysGame/status/1301194021981872133?s=20

That being said, despite the fact that the official Fall Guys Twitter account has been unbearably tweeting about Big Yeetus for more or less six hours, we can’t help but give them a free pass. After all, they did a wonderful charity campaign recently, raising $1 million for the charity Special Effect.

Check Out This Preview of Square Enix’s Luminous Engine World Editor

In case you didn’t know, Square Enix is currently working on a game for the PC and PS5 called Project Athia, which is still a working title by the way. We don’t have a lot of details about this latest project of theirs; all we know is that it was mentioned during a PS5 event that was held earlier this year.

Now, they’re currently using their in-house Luminous engine to make the game. A video that will give us an idea about how this engine’s world editor works has been released recently, as well. You can check it out below – it looks pretty cool.

This short video was a part of Luminous Productions’ presentation during the Computer Entertainment Developers Conference 2020 in Japan, which took place this week. The video shows us just how convenient and easy the Luminous engine is.

The engine’s auto-generation can easily add in trees and grass and so on, making it look like a game on its own.

As for Project Athia, Square Enix has confirmed that it will definitely come to the PC. From what we know so far, it’s an open-world third-person game about a woman in a world where there are monsters roaming about. Some scenes in the trailer show platform mechanics and it appears that the heroine may have some kind of superpower.

Despite not knowing a lot about Project Athia, we are definitely looking forward. So far, it looks like an addictive game that we won’t be able to put down!

It has been confirmed by Circle Entertainment that the turn-based strategy game Great Conqueror: Rome will be making its way to the Nintendo Switch eShop. The game is very similar to past strategy games on the platform, such as World Conqueror X and European Conqueror X.

Great Conqueror: Rome is set during a time when the Roman Republic is on the rise. As such, war is unavoidable, since many of the strong nations around the republic are fighting for supremacy.

It’s a wonderful strategy game that will really make you think of what to do next, as you control renowned Commanders such as Pompey, Spartacus, and Caesar, among many others. You also get to make improvements around your city as well as make important decisions that will greatly affect your game.

Great Conqueror: Rome has different game modes you can enjoy, namely Campaign mode, Conquest mode, and Expedition mode. The former allows you to relive history as you lead and rule across different countries. Conquest mode, on the other hand, allows you to create history. You get to choose a country and lead it to victory!

The last one, Expedition mode, is an extra mode if you want more of a challenge. For this one, you have to take on five different scenarios where you have to go through different battles, testing your leadership in the process.

Great Conqueror: Rome will definitely be a great addition to the eShop, and we can’t wait for it to go live later this September.

Catch Indie Adventure ‘Welcome to Elk’ This Month

If you haven’t heard, there’s a very intriguing island exploration game called Welcome to Elk and it’s scheduled to launch this September 17. The art style is very cute and quirky, but the lives of these characters are based on the real stories of real people, and some are quite dark indeed.

If you head over to Steam, Welcome to Elk has a free fifteen-minute demo available that you can try out. The game begins with a dream sequence showing Frigg, the main character, singing karaoke with a llama. Pretty trippy, right?

Welcome to Elk has cute and fun minigames, which in this case, you have to make Frigg sing along by pressing the W, A, S, D keys on your keyboard. As soon as Frigg wakes up, you go to a pub with a friend, where it initiates yet another minigame. This time, you have to pour a perfect pint by tilting the glass.

ss_550e180157445c6c3d0e1b6da5246bc0b706d114-1920x1080-2406166

Given how this is the kind of quirky gameplay Welcome to Elk starts with, you’d expect it to be like this for the rest of the game. But no — after conversing with your friend about her family, you will be transported to a very distressing memory of a different family.

After that sad scene ends, the demo shows a black and white video of a man talking about the real-life terrible event of the characters present in the game. It appears that Welcome to Elk is full of these noir footage. Through them, developer Triple Topping says that you will be able to meet and get to know the people who inspired the creation of the game.

Welcome to Elk has definitely caught our interest and we can’t wait to play the full game once it’s launched later this month.

Flight Simulator’s First Major Update is Live, But Microsoft Suggests You Reinstall the Game

0
ss_e5fcc1edbd6b8fc657221b7fad432aef93064671-1920x1080

The very first major update for Microsoft’s Flight Simulator is now live, and just like most games, the patch should automatically install when you launch the game. However, the developers highly recommend that you should do a clean reinstall of the game, especially for those players who previously had a hard time installing the game initially.

If you wish to do a clean reinstall, you can follow the instructions for Steam here and for Microsoft and Game Pass here. That being said, you’ll want to make sure that all the files for Flight Simulator have been successfully deleted, though, especially if you downloaded the game through the Microsoft Store.

This is because the clean reinstalling process will not remove all the necessary files if you installed the game outside of the default location. Go ahead and manually search for anything under “Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe” or “MicrosoftFlightSimulator” and make sure that you delete all the files there.

ss_6b9f19f50b9dcde6e840708d9163aad84ae0df7d-1920x1080-5485670

ss_fdd873daf1fa9ff57d0b2c435b71cdc9c18b5aa7-1920x1080-8781608

With that being said, there really isn’t anything major we can see in the patch notes, which we will list down below:

STABILITY ISSUES

  • The title will no longer crash when different input devices/peripherals are disconnected
  • The title will no longer crash when the TBM 930 package is deleted

INSTALLATION ISSUES

  • The install process will no longer be blocked after a partial decompression of a package
  • The install process will no longer be blocked when a local user account includes non-ASCII characters
  • The install process will no longer be blocked after a failed connection to servers
  • The install process will no longer display an empty onboarding screen under certain conditions
  • The title will download a critical missing/deleted package to access the main menu even if the save data preference is set to offline (when an internet connection is available)

CONTENT MANAGER

  • The title will no longer automatically download packages that have been deleted through the content manager
  • The content manager will no longer get stuck in an infinite loading state when checked offline
  • The Creator name of the packages should now be properly updated

SIMCONNECT

  • Significant FPS drop when using Simconnect should no longer affect the experience

OPTIMIZATION

  • The performance of the title has been improved when the Display name plate option is set to active

MARKETPLACE

  • The correct currency is now properly updated in the marketplace.

However, despite the fact that there aren’t a lot of major fixes in this patch, it’s definitely still worth updating.
