Kick Back and Relax with Rust’s New Boat Update

Facepunch Studio’s Rust is known to be a ruthless sandbox game, that’s why this latest update will catch you by surprise. Well, except for the fact that you can now smack someone to death with a paddle, the update is pretty much relaxing.

For this month’s update, boat venders have been added to Rust i.e. there are now fishing villages available where you can purchase boats. The rowboat, for instance, will cost you 250 scrap, while the inflatable one costs 400.

For these new fishing villages, Facepunch Studio added three to the game, all of which vary in size. These villages are known as safe zones, so any kind of violence is prohibited. In fact, any signs of hostile action will result in death.

Among the many new items you will find in these fishing villages are scuba gear, as well as a kayak. To be fair, calling it a kayak is a bit generous, given the fact that it basically looks like a bunch of junk.

Nevertheless, it does the job well. Just like the Sunburn DLC boogie boards, you will be able to put the kayak on the water once you’ve crafted it. With your new mode of transportation, you can use the kayak to paddle your way down the coast.

In the event that you do get attacked, you can use your paddle as a weapon. Well, the paddle is basically a rusty spade with some piece of metal attached to the end, so it’s not surprising that you can use it to hurt your enemies as well.

In order to travel using your kayak, pressing LMB means you paddle left, while RMB means you paddle right. This means that if you want to move forward, you have to alternate between these two paddles. Paddling backward is also possible by holding the back key, which is the S by default.

My Singing Monsters Now Has a New Battle Mode

Developer Big Blue Bubble has recently celebrated the eighth anniversary of My Singing Monsters, a top-grossing mobile game, by releasing their biggest update so far. Update 3.0 adds a new battle mode called the “Colossingum,” which is an arena where Monsters can train and participate in musical battles.

Not only that, but the Monsters can also take part in quests in order to be rewarded with awesome costumes, which is also another recently-added feature.

You can take out Level 5+ Monsters from the Natural Islands and then bring them to the Colossingum, where you can train them and then consequently sign them up to do quests. To make things simple, here’s a summarized list of the update features as listed on Gamasutra:

  • Anniversary Month – A month-long celebration featuring exciting new offers and sales each week.
  • The Colossingum – A Colosseum-inspired new Island where players can train and battle their Monsters.
  • Colossingum Quests – PvE (Player vs. Enemy)-style challenges that award Medals, Monster costumes, and more.
  • Monster Costumes – Stat-boosting Monster accessories earned in Colossingum quests or purchased with Medals.
  • Trophies – Prestigious awards earned in special Colossingum quests that can be displayed proudly on your Island.
  • New Decorations – A collection of stunning Colossingum-exclusive Decorations.
  • Redecorated Gold Island – A festive Anniversary Month makeover bursting with balloons, streamers, and more.

Battle Royale-like Super Mario Game Revealed for Nintendo Switch

Surprise, surprise! A battle royale-like version of the original Super Mario Bros. game has been announced during the Super Mario Bros. 35th Anniversary Direct. Super Mario Bros. 35 is a competitive online battle game wherein you – and 34 other players – play Super Mario Bros. 

The catch, however, is that the enemies you defeat in your course get sent to other players’ games. This definitely brings a whole new twist to the classic Super Mario Bros. Check out the announcement trailer below:

Super Mario Bros. 35 will also feature an item roulette function as well as a set of pickable strategies. This will allow you to prioritize who you send your enemies to. It’s quite similar to Switch’s Tetris 99, and it will only be available Nintendo Switch Online members. This is definitely unfortunate news for those who aren’t subscribed to this feature.

Here’s how it works: the game’s eShop page states that each of the 35 players will be given the same timed stage. However, you need to defeat the enemies to not only earn extra time but to beat the other players as well.

You can also use the coins you pick up along the way to purchase in-game items such as power-ups to help you ensure victory.

Super Mario Bros. 35 will only be available from October 1 until March 31, 2021. That being said, this isn’t the only notable game announced during the Anniversary Direct. Nintendo has also announced Super Mario 3D All-Stars for the Switch.

Gameplay for The Witcher: Monster Slayer Revealed

Last week, it was announced by CD Projekt that the franchise is getting its very own AR mobile game. At that time, we really didn’t have a lot of information about the game yet, except for the fact that it would be a location-based AR RPG similar to Pokemon Go.

Now, gameplay for The Witcher: Monster Slayer has been revealed via the game’s official Twitter account.

It’s safe to say that it wasn’t an exaggeration when they described this game to be like Pokemon Go, though. We can see that you also walk around holding your handheld device, encountering monsters along the way which you have to fight.

The monsters are plotted on real-life locations, and during your battle, you have a floating digital sword that you use to either attack or block the enemy’s advances. You will also see health and stamina bars on the screen during battle, as well as buttons that will initiate the Witcher’s abilities.

If you want to take a break from all the vicious fighting, you can also do so. The Witcher: Monster Slayer also has more relaxing activities, such as taking quests from NPCs.

Developed by Spokko, Monster Slayer will also take into account the kind of weather you’re having or the time of day you’re in. In other words, you definitely won’t have the same quarry every day.

Highly-Anticipated Kickstarter ‘Scarlet Republics’ Makes Its Way to the Nintendo Switch in 2022

Just like Eiyuden Chronicle, Scarlet Republics is yet another successful Kickstarter project. In just 10 hours, the game has already surpassed its initial goal of $11,820 (€10,000). The Kickstarter describes Scarlet Republics as the outcome if “Fire Emblem had a love-child with Divinity and a Joe Abercrombie book.” Honestly, we’re intrigued.

This is a turn-based tactical RPG that has a mix of both Western and Japanese gameplay mechanics. Plus, we’ve heard that the storyline will be rich and immersive as well.

Scarlet Republics is set in a fantasy world known as Corsano, which takes great inspiration from the art of Leonardo Da Vinci and the Italian Renaissance. The game deals with themes of conquest and vengeance, among others.

Here are the game’s key features, as enumerated on their Kickstarter page:

  • Outwit the Enemy with Masterful Tactics: In Scarlet Republics you guide a squad of mercenaries in turn-based combat. The game features 7 unique classes divided over 20 playable characters. It’s up to you to pick and mold your squad to suit your playstyle and strategies.

  • Did We Mention Choice?: Large parts of the game, including entire battle-maps and quests, are choice specific and it is impossible to see it all in one playthrough. The game features 4 different main endings, but the fate of individual characters or factions may differ vastly across these.
  • Machiavellian Politics and Scheming City-States: The game is set in a low-fantasy world in the country of Corsano. Inspired by the Mediterranean, the Renaissance and the vineyards and olive groves of Italy and Greece, Corsano is a land of vibrant colors, heady spices, merchant lords, pirates, politics, intrigue and, of course, war, as different city-states and princes vie for control and dominion over the country. 
  • Da Vinci’s Imagination and Dramatic Tango: The game’s art style is inspired by Renaissance art and the sketches of the master Leonardo Da Vinci. The soundtrack mixes classical fantasy with inspirations from tango and flamenco for a dramatic sunset vibe. Scarlet Republics is scheduled to be launched in 2022 for both gaming consoles such as the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation, as well as the PC. The project is still ongoing and the team has started adding stretch goals as well.

VR gamers everywhere can now enjoy Cook-Out: A Sandwich Tale on both Oculus Quest and Rift. Cook-Out is a whimsical cooking game that allows you to play with up to four people, working together to serve hungry enchanted creatures with sandwiches and other meals.

You will have a variety of customers, from mice to werewolves, and other kinds of beasts. Just like your average cooking game, you need to make sure that your customers remain happy. As such, you need to collaborate and communicate with your fellow chefs to serve the food on time. In a press release, producer Gustav Stenmark states:

“Food, fun and games are three of the very best ways to get together with friends, and with Cook-Out, we’re excited to be delivering all of those things. Co-op games are always at their wildest when everyone is scrambling to work together, and Cook-Out will definitely keep you on your toes. Within a few minutes you’ll all be barking orders like a line cook, trying to figure out who’s supposed to be grabbing the ketchup and who needs to cut the cheese.”

Cook-Out: A Sandwich Tale gives you to option to either play solo or with two to four friends via the multiplayer mode. When playing with others, the game gives each player a selection of different ingredients, forcing everyone to cooperate and work together to create the perfect meal.

It has over 50 levels across 18 towns, so you will definitely have a blast going through each one. The game also features an Endless Mode, giving you and your friends more opportunities to work and laugh together.

Cook-Out is the 11th game from Resolution Games and it is now available for the Oculus Quest and Oculus Rift for $19.99 USD

TapBlaze and PM Studios have officially confirmed that Great Pizza, Good Pizza is now available on the Nintendo Switch eShop. Previously only available on Steam as well as on iOS and Android devices, this adorably stylized cooking game gives you the chance to run your very own pizza shop.

A New Rhythm Game by the Creators of Guitar Hero is Coming This November

We finally have a release date for Fuser, the new DJ rhythm game by Harmonix, the studio who created world-renowned Guitar Hero. Only a few hours ago, the official Fuser Twitter account posted that the game will launch this November 10.

What makes Fuser different from the previous rhythm games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band is that instead of hitting notes perfectly, you assume the role of a DJ who plays in large music festivals. In this game, you get to mix and match different songs, such as “Rock The Casbah” and “In Da Club.” The stage is all yours!

Also, Harmonix gave the excited followers a sneak peek of the game’s collaborative multiplayer mode. For this mode, you will be able to take turns with up to four players at the decks.

Fuser also features unique stages that are heavily designed with certain themes in mind. You will find some sample screenshots below:

Your success heavily depends on how well you are able to entertain the crowd using your original mashup performance. As mentioned, Fuser will be released this November 10 on PC and other consoles currently available.

Although, there’s no news about the game being ported to the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X just yet.

Prepare for an Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Super Mario Crossover Next Year

Nintendo is currently celebrating the 35th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. and there has been a whole lot of Mario-related announcements today. Even Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been included in the party, with Nintendo announcing during the Super Mario Bros. 35th Anniversary Direct that there will be Mario-themed furniture in the game next year.

That being said, having Mario-themed furniture isn’t new to the Animal Crossing franchise. In fact, all the previous games in the series have added Mario-themed furniture. Originally, though, you could only get these special furniture via events and promotions.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf, on the other hand, had special Fortune Cookies at Nook’s shop, which you could get using Play Coins. (Play Coins could be earned by using the 3DS’ pedometer.) These Fortune Cookies had all kinds of prizes, and most if not all were Nintendo-themed, including Super Mario, Legend of Zelda, and more.

The Mario-themed furniture in previous Animal Crossing titles featured a Fire Flower, a Green Pipe with a Piranha Plant, as well as a Super Mushroom. Mario Kart items were also included, such as the Triple Red Shells for example.

There were also flooring and wallpaper that were themed after Super Mario Bros. World 1-1. If you acquired all these items, it definitely turned your Animal Crossing room into a brand-new game.

So far, Nintendo only announced Mario-themed furniture, but this could possibly be a stepping-stone for the company to include other Nintendo-themed items in the future to Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

This crossover won’t take place until March 2021, so there’s a lot of waiting we have to do. For now, though, there will be an Autumn update that’s scheduled to go live soon.

We don’t have an idea as to when this update will go up, but it’s currently Autumn in the Northern Hemisphere and the game has already had some seasonal changes.

New Valorant Patch Unintentionally Made Omen Too Powerful That Riot Removed Him From Game Temporarily

Riot Games recently released a new Valorant patch, where they tweaked the game’s hit effects as well as nerfed Killjoy and Sage. One other thing that this new update has brought about is a very powerful Omen, although this was done unintentionally.

Players have recently discovered that Omen could be made invincible through the use of a simple glitch. If you haven’t seen the glitch in action yourself, you can check out a video of it below:

Now, this isn’t the only Omen glitch, though. Around the same time, another glitch also appeared wherein Omen can get past the spawn barriers that block the players’ path before the game officially starts.

This means that you, the player, could get into a really favorable position before anyone else. Well, positioning isn’t that important when you’re literally invincible, but it’s a glitch nonetheless.

Riot initially thought that they were able to fix that bug, but they were mistaken.

Omen was completely removed from the game yesterday, but Riot has announced that he will be brought back later this afternoon with a new hotfix patch to solve the glitch. The schedule is as follows:

  • APAC/OCE regions in 2 hours (2pm PT)
  • EU/CIS/TR regions in 8 hours (8pm PT)
  • NA/BR/LATAM regions in 12 hours (11pm PT)

This means that players who mainly use Omen don’t have to wait too long.
