Pokemon Go Teases the Addition of Shiny Ditto

Niantic’s highly popular AR mobile game, Pokemon Go, has been celebrating the Pokemon franchise’s 25th anniversary in a variety of ways. One of these ways is the special Pokemon Go Tour: Kanto event. One reason why this event is so exciting is because not only will it feature the original 151 Pokemon, but the event offers Pokemon Go players the chance to encounter and catch a Shiny Mew for the first time in the mobile game’s history.

Fans already have a good idea about what to expect in this event, as Niantic has done a great job at sharing all the necessary details. For instance, it has been confirmed that purchasers will have to choose between a Red or Green Version, and both of these options will have increased Shiny Rates for particular Pokemon from the Kanto region.

That being said, one of Pokemon Go’s recent tweets seems to suggest that Shiny Ditto will be one of the featured Pokemon during the Kanto Tour—or, at the very least, it will be rate-boosted.

Now, it’s worth mentioning that Niantic already confirmed in the past that the Pokemon Go Kanto Tour will feature all the Shiny forms of the original 150, so it doesn’t really come as a surprise that Shiny Ditto would be included. However, according to the official Kanto Tour event page on Pokemon Go’s website, “only certain Pokemon will have an increased chance of being Shiny when encountered in the wild.”

Because of this disclaimer, players assumed that only a particular pool of Pokemon from the event will have a boosted chance of being Shiny. In other words, they thought that this would only apply to the specific Pokemon that are exclusive to either the Red or Green version of the tour.

While the developer’s tweet simply said that it had some additional details to share about the upcoming Kanto Tour, the tweet came with a specific image that captured the attention of the fans. Even though the image may seem vague, long-time Pokemon fans who are—at this point—experts when it comes to the nuances of the franchise’s video games, have pointed out that the accompanying picture could only suggest Shiny Ditto.

For starters, fans have noticed that the only time they see “Oh?” show up above a Poke Ball in Niantic’s AR mobile game is when they capture a Ditto that’s using the appearance of another Pokemon. The next reason for this ongoing theory has to do with the color of the capture-text.

Once a Pokemon has been successfully captured, the words written above the Poke Ball typically show the Pokemon’s name. Most of the time, the color of this particular text is white—unless the player catches a Shiny, in which case, the text’s color is yellow.

Seeing as the tweet showcases an “Oh?” with a yellow text, there’s only one possibility that makes sense. Based on all this gathered information, it’s highly likely that the pictured Poke Ball contains a Shiny Ditto inside of it. Since, as mentioned, Niantic already confirmed that there would be Shiny forms of all the original Pokemon, fans believe that the Pokemon Go Kanto Tour will put a special spotlight on Shiny Ditto somehow.

What this could entail is anyone’s guess as of this moment. For now, we’ll have to wait and see what Niantic’s “additional details” will be all about.

How Does Fortnite Look in 2021?

When it was first released in the middle of 2017, nobody expected Fortnite to take the world by storm in the way it did. Not only was it the most popular video game on the planet at one stage, but it also spawned endless lines of merchandise and copycat games, hoping for just a fraction of its success.

Now it’s 2021. Is Fortnite still the dominant force of the current gaming landscape? This article takes a closer look for the answer.

Recent happenings 

Even though Fortnite has already generated billions of dollars for Epic Games, the creators haven’t simply sat on this success. They have continually introduced updates and new features to the game. This has helped to keep the product fresh for original players while also ensuring there’s a lot of content for everyone to enjoy.

As for recent happenings, Fortnite continues to introduce characters from other franchises as useable skins. These skins include the likes of Kratos from God of War, Halo’s Master Chief, and Predator from, well, Predator. Epic has also been tinkering with Fortnite’s in-game economy to both appease players and keep the pace up. Although other than relatively small updates, no game-changing tweaks have been made recently.

No longer the flavor of the month? 

At one point, Fortnite was the number one title on YouTube and Twitch. Massive names in the gaming world such as Ninja and Myth were constantly covering the game. Now in 2021, however, it isn’t the flavor of the month any longer. Valorant, Fall Guys, Among Us – these are the types of games that have become more popular with the big names in the streaming world.

With that said, Fortnite hasn’t exactly disappeared off the face of the earth. It continues to have a high ranking in the top ten of Twitch’s most-watched games. It may not turn back into a global phenomenon, but it’s clear Fortnite still has a prosperous future to come for 2021 and the rest of the decade.

No in-person events for the year 

Due to the current pandemic, Epic Games has made the decision not to hold any in-person Fortnite events in 2021. This includes the traditional Fortnite World Cup. Even though this is a blow to the eSports community, fortunately, tournaments will still be ongoing digitally.

Little Nightmares 2 Releases Creepy New Launch Trailer

Little Nightmares 2 is set to release within the next few days, and to mark the occasion, Bandai Namco has released a creepy new launch trailer. For those who may not know, this upcoming atmospheric game is a direct sequel to the highly acclaimed Little Nightmares game from 2017.

Developed by Tarsier Studios and published by Bandai Namco, the original game was incredibly well-received, garnering praise and acclaim for its terrifying atmosphere, challenging puzzles, and horrific characters and art style.

Fans have been looking forward to its sequel for more or less four years now, with hype for Little Nightmares 2 steadily increasing as we draw closer and closer to its launch. As a matter of fact, the soon-to-be-released puzzle-platformer horror adventure game is one of the most awaited horror titles this year.

The new launch trailer begins with Mono, Little Nightmare 2’s protagonist, entering a staticky TV screen. The trailer, which goes on for only less than 2 minutes, continues with a sinister background music as both Mono and Six—the protagonist of the first game—try to figure out the various puzzles thrown their way.

The trailer also shows gameplay footage of the duo coming across horrifying enemies, peppered with different positive comments from some of the earlier reviews. As the trailer reaches its climax, the music and the trailer itself also increase in intensity as well as speed, with both Mono and Six running away from different enemies and avoiding capture.

One scene showcases the duo being chased by a massive creature that looks akin to Little Nightmare’s twin chefs, followed by footage of Mono evading a multitude of ball-jointed doll arms that are trying to catch him. As the intensity dies down, the trailer showcases Mono climbing out of a sewer.

Arguably the most intriguing part about this trailer is near the end, where there’s a scene seemingly showing Mono without the paper bag covering his face. Based on this, we assume that there’s another purpose for this particular headgear asides from it simply being the character’s aesthetic.

Seeing as Little Nightmares 2’s release date is almost upon us, it’s clear to see that both Tarsier Studios and Bandai Namco aren’t holding back when it comes to the promotion of this highly anticipated game. In fact, the publisher recently dropped a commercial for the game featuring Derren Brown, a well-known English mentalist and illusionist.

In this ominous commercial, Brown explains dreams and the concept of nightmares, breaking it down into simpler terms. He then delves into what causes these nightmares to take place, as incredibly hair-raising CGI takes place behind him.

Taking the time to watch both the launch trailer and this commercial, it’s easy to see why Little Nightmares 2—and the franchise in general—appeals to gamers who enjoy horror, especially those who particularly love atmospheric ones.

Little Nightmares 2 is set to release on February 11, 2021 for PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game, on the other hand, will be released later in the year.

More Solo Content Is Coming To Red Dead Online

So far, this month has been a big one for Red Dead Redemption and its fans. For starters, Rockstar Games announced that Red Dead Redemption 2 would be releasing a brand-new vinyl soundtrack containing songs that haven’t been released before. Now, Red Dead Online, which is the online portion of the cowboy adventure, will be getting more solo content for players to enjoy.

For those who haven’t experienced the open-world adventure and everything it has to offer just yet, Red Dead Online initially began as a component of Red Dead Redemption 2. However, Rockstar Games eventually expanded on the online title and made it into its own game.

In a recent Newswire post on Rockstar Games’ official website, the developer mentions that Red Dead Online players can look forward to free gifts and rewards. Not only that, they can expect “new employment opportunities for solo players.” At the moment, Red Dead Online players have a variety of jobs to choose from (otherwise known as specialist roles).

Once a player is able to progress in the line of work they previously selected, they gain access to specialty skills and items that would otherwise remain locked and unavailable for use. Since Rockstar Games has confirmed the fact that new job opportunities are on the way for Red Dead Online, this most likely means that fans can look forward to new items and skills as well.

On another note, the Newswire also notes that Red Dead Online had more new and returning players in December of last year compared to any other time since the title was initially released in beta mode. Needless to say, this is definitely good news for the developer, especially since Red Dead Online used to have so many game-breaking bugs that players once abandoned the online title entirely.

The last time Rockstar Games introduced new employment opportunities in Red Dead Online, it included moonshining and bounty hunting. This time around, however, the developer has been noticeably secretive about what possible careers are heading to the cowboy game.

Still, this doesn’t make this news any less exciting for dedicated players worldwide, especially for those who have already maxed out the already existing jobs. New players who want more choices when it comes to specialist roles would benefit from this, too.

That being said, there’s one other thing that Rockstar Games has yet to reveal, and that’s the release date of this upcoming solo content. The Newswire only says that the update will be “coming this year,” and since the year just started, this release window isn’t much to go by.

Recent rumors also claim that Rockstar Games is allegedly working on a remastered version of Read Dead Redemption, although there’s no concrete proof of this leak just yet. That being said, let’s look at this positively—the fact that the developer revealed the future addition of new specialist roles likely means that these upcoming job opportunities will be made available to the game soon.

As such, it’s best to remain patient and wait for more news that will surely come.

Dead by Daylight Releases More Stranger Things Cosmetics

At the point, most people who consume media have seen Stranger Things—or have heard of it, at least. The TV series was first released in 2016 and has seen tremendous success and popularity since then. As such, it didn’t come as a surprise when the supernatural horror series made its way to Behaviour Interactive’s asymmetric survival horror video game, Dead by Daylight, in 2019.

More specifically, the game introduced the iconic Demogorgon as a new killer, as well as Nancy Wheeler and Steve Harrington as two new survivors. Now, Behaviour Interactive has announced that a new outfit collection for the in-game Stranger Things cast is set to release. The Dead by Daylight “Moments of Growth” collection will not only include new skins for the playable survivors, but for the Demogorgon itself as well.

This collection can be purchased from Dead by Daylight’s in-game store, and will have new outfits and even hairstyles for both Steve and Nancy, and a gruesome new appearance for the killer.

The Demogorgon skin, which is called the Geo Mutation, gives the monster a newer appearance wherein there are pieces of what looks like stone coming out of its body. Not only that, the skin also includes Armored Plate, Crag Claw, and Rock Jaw. The new outfits for the teen survivors, on the other hand, don’t look horrifying—albeit a little grubby.

Steve Harrington’s new outfit is called Highschool Hunk, and it gives the character his signature hairstyle from the TV series. It also features a matching striped polo and khaki pants look, making Steve really exude the same vibe that popular high schoolers have.

On the other hand, Nancy Wheeler’s Days of Rose outfit has her wearing a pink cardigan matched with an Indiana pink skirt, along with a pulled-back hairstyle with a pink headband. It’s clear to see that both of the character’s outfits for this collection were based on clothes they wore during the first season of Stranger Things. And while they don’t look fitting for running away from a bloodthirsty killer, it’s assured that at least they’ll look classy while doing so.

Dead by Daylight recently had an update, which introduced a variety of improvements to the game, including the UI and graphics in general. The update also revamped two major maps in the game, implemented more seamless animations for new survivors and killers, as well as changed the player HUDs.

In order to make use of these new cosmetics, players must first have unlocked the Stranger Things cast already. In order to do so, players simply need to get their hands on the Stranger Things DLC to make the survivors and killer available for use, and then purchase the Moments of Growth collection from the in-game shop for the skins.

The in-game shop also offers The Binding of Kin DLC, which has the latest killer known as The Twins and the newest survivor, Elodie Rakoto. At this point, Dead by Daylight has a sizeable amount of playable killers and survivors, and while some need to be purchased and unlocked first via DLCs, they definitely make the game even more interesting than it already is.

E3 2021 Coming This June As A Digital Event

The E3 Expo will be coming back in a new form this year, as the event will be utilizing digital platforms this 2021. E3 2020 was canceled because of the global pandemic, along with almost every other trade event that was due to occur all throughout the year.

The 2020 games launch schedule was thrown into oblivion by the restrictions and lockdowns, with games such as Resident Evil 3 and Final Fantasy 7 Remake seeing their release interrupted by shipping problems.

The unexpected move to telework also caused numerous games to be postponed, with the whole industry needing to adjust how it worked overnight. The sudden absence of an E3 led to replacement events but there was still a lot of concern about the upcoming games launch schedule for the rest of the year.

It seems increasingly likely that most gaming industry events until the end of the summer will need to be canceled because of the ongoing global pandemic. The Entertainment Software Association is preparing for a change, as it has revealed that E3 2021 will take place as a digital event.

There were rumors last year of a revamped E3 event for 2021, and those plans are now beginning to take form. According to reports, the ESA has made plans for this year’s online-only event. The ESA wants to hold multiple two-hour themed sessions with partners, alongside individual smaller streams.

Screen Rant has talked with ESA for further clarification on the price required for game publishers to participate in this year’s E3. The intent is for remote demos to be made available during the event. E3 2021 will be taking place on June 15 to 17, with a preview event taking place on June 14. The ESA has issued the following statement about the upcoming E3 2021.

It’s uncertain which publishers and developers will be involved in this year’s E3 event, but companies that left the show in the past, like Sony, might be willing to make a comeback to the fold. Then again, the individual events in 2020 received colossal viewership numbers, so there is still an audience for video game conferences that don’t hold the E3 name.

Based on a new leak, the popular speedster The Flash from DC Comics is about to arrive in Fortnite as its next superhero crossover. One of the newest crossover characters was G.I. Joe Snake Eyes who became available a few days ago.

After a short period of G.I. Joe related teases, Epic Games officially revealed that the iconic Snake Eyes character was arriving to Fortnite. The hero’s depiction in the game proved to be as loyal as possible. Sporting his iconic black costume, Snake Eyes also received a pickaxe in the form of his katana and a matching back bling to complete the skin. The entire set of cosmetics arrived in the in-game shop for each nostalgic-feeling Fortnite player to enjoy.

Many gamers will earnestly remember Street Fighter 2 as probably one of the best fighting games in video game history. Releasing on the market in 1991, Capcom is now commemorating the 2D beat ‘em up’s 30th anniversary this February and has been asking fans on Twitter who their favorite character was.

Three decades ago, Street Fighter 2 hit home consoles and arcades and has since become a global success selling around 6.3 million copies since its launch. With such characters as M.Bison, Guile, Chun-Li, Ryu, and Ken, the series has gone down as an intrepid example of old-school gaming, surpassing other fighting game series like Virtua Fighter and Mortal Kombat.

Street Fighter 2 eventually became the model for modern fighting games, and in spite of the series not being what it once was, there are still several gamers who will think back to the more innocent times putting a lot of coins into arcade machines. It’s a critical part of video game history and fans are still discovering new things about Street Fighter that have avoided players for decades.

PS5 Is Finally Heading To Mainland China This Year

After a few months since its initial release, the PlayStation 5 will be introduced to a brand-new yet massive market this year. Specifically, the console is finally heading to mainland China, and will be sold there later within the year.

Stock for both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S probably will remain low or scarce for a while, and this is partially due to the ongoing pandemic and the fact that there are several issues regarding the consoles’ components.

At the moment, Sony has been having a difficult time trying to meet the demand for the PlayStation 5 in the countries where it’s currently available. Trying to grab a copy of the console has been close to impossible ever since its release last year, and one major cause for this is the scalpers who are quick to purchase the console only to sell them for ridiculously expensive prices.

That being said, it appears that these constantly low PS5 stocks haven’t affected the console’s sales as a whole. Before 2020 came to a close, Sony was already able to sell 4.5 million PS5 units. The incredible demand for this console will only increase as the months go by, especially since more and more exclusive games are expected to release this year.

A couple of months have already passed since the PlayStation 5’s initial launch in November 2020, yet this solid console hasn’t been released in every part of the world just yet. Niko Partners’ Senior Analyst, Daniel Ahmad, recently revealed on Twitter that the console will officially launch in China some time in Q2 2021.

For the unfamiliar, Q2 takes place during the months of April through June, which makes it a pretty narrow release window for those fans in mainland China who have been looking forward to the console’s release. This news was confirmed by Sony China itself, specifically by SIE Shanghai president Tatsuo Eguchi and vice-chairman Soeda Takehito.

The announcement video also features some of the titles that will be available along with the console’s Chinese version. The titles mentioned are Sackboy: A Big Adventure, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Astro’s Playroom, Destruction AllStars, Gran Turismo 7, Horizon Forbidden West, Ratchet & Clank: A Rift Apart, Returnal, and Demon’s Souls.

That being said, it’s highly likely that the Chinese version of the PlayStation 5 will only have a limited number of games available, similar to the way the Tencent Switch doesn’t have the console’s complete library of video games.

Of course, the release of this latest generation of console is going to be a big deal for Sony. However, there’s one major question that remains: how will the company release the console into China’s gaming market when it can barely keep up with the console’s current demand in the States?

Sony previously confirmed that it plans to ship out almost 15 million PS5 units this year, and it’s easy to see how China’s massive market will be able to easily help with this goal. Then again, there’s still no guarantee that Sony will be able to achieve these figures, especially since supply is incredibly low.

Bravely Default 2 features a new world to discover as well as a new cast, with players traversing across the lands of Excillant. However, for fans looking to get the inside scoop on the game, the Japanese information drops are the way to go. The newest details centralize on the Military Nation of Holograd, depicted as a nation with more than 300 years of history began when a single hero united the tribes of the barren wastelands.

The nation is aggressive, taking over neighboring countries and initiating conflict. While that might seem similar to the role of Eisenberg from the first entries in the franchise, Bravely Default 2 is breaking away from the previous titles, so expects the resemblances to end there.
