CD Projekt RED Announces The Witcher: Old World Tabletop Board Game

The Witcher franchise offers fans different forms of entertainment to consume—from books and a TV show to a video game series. It appears that CD Projekt RED wants to expand this even more, as the developer has partnered with GO ON BOARD to release The Witcher: Old World, an upcoming tabletop adventure board game.

The tabletop RPG is set to have a Kickstarter campaign that will launch in Spring, while the final product itself is expected to release by April 2022. As you can infer from the title, The Witcher: Old World will be set way before the adventures of Geralt of Rivia.

According to the announcement, the board game is meant for 2-5 players who take on the role of Witchers who have “recently completed their brutal training” in either one of the different schools, namely School of Wolf, Viper, Cat, Bear, or Griffin.

Naturally, as professional monster slayers, players have to traverse the different regions of the Continent to accept contracts, eliminate vicious monsters, and make difficult choices that could alter the game completely. Other than that, players also have the option to fight other Witchers.

The crowdfunding campaign for The Witcher: Old World will begin on May 2021, and it will give the community of fans a chance to provide their thoughts and feedback while the RPG is still in production. From The Witcher’s official website, it states that those who back the Kickstarter will be given “a chance to have a significant impact on the contents of the game, as well as the stories it features.”

As for GO ON BOARD, it is a Polish publishing company who released the tabletop games Valhalla in 2018 and Titans only last year. For this exciting upcoming project, the publisher has called on the help of Polish designer Lukasz Wozniak for the game’s, well, design. Without his help, The Witcher: Old World wouldn’t be brought to life.

As of this moment, the upcoming tabletop RPG will be released in both English and Polish, while negotiations are still ongoing for it to be released in other languages.

The release of The Witcher: Old World will surely add a whole new depth to The Witcher universe, and will expand on the lore that author Andrzej Sapkowski has already established in his incredible fantasy series.

Fans of The Witcher franchise have been gobbling up loads of content recently. For one thing, the second season of Netflix’s highly popular The Witcher series has been confirmed already. As a matter of fact, season two is expected to air some time this year.

Not only that, Netflix announced last year that it’s also working on a prequel series entitled The Witcher: Blood Origin, which is supposed to be a 6-part series. Similar to The Witcher: Old World, this prequel series will also be set years before the time of Geralt, and will feature the very first Witcher and his adventures.

BlizzCon started all the way back in 2005, and it’s basically a period of time when the fans and the company’s creators come together to celebrate the different games in Blizzard’s repertoire. During BlizzCon, fans can usually look forward to various teasers for upcoming or unannounced projects, as well as sneak peeks into forthcoming content.

Other than that, BlizzCon also has panels for Blizzard employees and the like, who share to fans behind-the-scenes content. Because of the ongoing pandemic, however, BlizzCon 2021 will be completely digital and interested gamers can watch the event for free.

According to the announced schedule, the event’s Opening Ceremony will begin on February 19 at 5:00 PM EST. Now, it’s probably best to tune into this segment of the event, even though it’s just the opening ceremony, as it will feature brand-new reveals.

Black Desert Mobile Players Can Have Archer Class Characters Starting February 16

Finally! Black Desert Mobile players will be able to create Archer class characters beginning this February 16. Pre-creation for the agile class is already available now, which allows players to personalize their new character to their hearts’ content before the feature officially goes live.

Based on the mobile title’s Roadmap for 2021, many fans expected Pearl Abyss to introduce Shai to the game this month. However, because of different balancing issues that that the game is currently going through, the developer decided to delay Shai’s release to March and bump up the Archer’s release instead.

So, fans who are disappointed can rest easy knowing that Shai will eventually be released in Black Desert Mobile. For now, though, the nimble Archer will be made available to the players very soon.

For a better understanding of who the Archer is, Black Desert Mobile’s February 9 patch notes describe him as the “forgotten son of the goddess Slyvia and protector of the world.” What makes the Archer an attractive option for many players is because he’s considered to be one of the fastest classes in the entire game.

Pearl Abyss has made some changes to the Item Drop Rate in Hadum. More specifically, players will now be able to find Inscribed Glyphs, Blazing Chaos Chrystals, and Rift Totems among the potential drops.

The Pet Skill Level cap has also been tweaked, making pets useful for this new yet more difficult content. Black Desert Mobile’s “Petscension” allows the maximum skill level of players’ Pets to be boosted up to 20. Although, do note that this is only applicable to Pets that are already in Tier 6.

Nintendo has been putting forth game trials as part of its online membership lately, as Dead Cells was lately made available as a trial through Nintendo Switch Online. Now, a chaotic couch coop multiplayer title is next on the list.

Overcooked 2 was well-received and received good reviews when it launched a couple of years ago. While it still is a popular game, there are likely many who have not yet had the opportunity to play it, so it being a game that is temporarily free with Nintendo Switch Online is a great gesture from Nintendo.

Not only has Season 8 started, but the hero shooter battle royale is also celebrating its 2nd anniversary. To celebrate this milestone, Apex Legends’ second Anniversary Collection event has recently launched, making it the first event for this new season.

Understandably, you’d need to grind a lot in order to achieve these, but they’re not impossible to do, especially since you’ll have 12 weeks to try. Besides, successfully completing these challenges will earn you a weapon charm as well as rare badges.

Sadly, Nintendo Switch users who plan to play the free-to-play first-person battle royale won’t be able to join in this year’s Anniversary festivities, given the fact that the event will conclude on February 23 and the Nintendo Switch port won’t launch until March 9.

On the other hand, Niantic didn’t hold back in terms of the in-game Avatar cosmetics and event-exclusive stickers. These outfits and items would definitely make the players’ in-game characters match with the dreamy, whimsical Pokemon.

Asides from these, Niantic confirmed even more exciting additions for the event. The developer states in a recent post that Pokemon Go’s Valentine’s Day 2021 event will feature paired Pokemon in the wild, like Volbeat and Illumise or Plusle and Minun. Pokemon such as Eevee, Luvdisc, and Woobat will also be made available to players through the hatching of Eggs.

If a player is lucky enough, they may even get to stumble upon Feebas as a wild encounter, or perhaps obtain either Gardevoir or Gallade that has the unique attack Synchronoise after evolving Kirlia. There’s also a chance that players will be able to encounter a Spinda that has a heart pattern if they manage to finish off Field Research tasks successfully.

A lot of the Pokemon that were previously mentioned will also be featured in Raid battles. More specifically, One-Star Raids will feature Illumise, Volbeat, Feebas, Munna, Ralts, and Espurr; Three-Star Raids will include Espeon, Gardevoir, Umbreon, Gallade, Togetic, and Alomomola; and players can expect Five-Star Raids to feature Latias and Latios. Lastly, Mega Raids will have Pidgeot, Gyarados, and Ampharos.

Pokemon Go fans can also look forward to a Valentine’s Day Collection Challenge, which gives players the task of catching 12 different Pokemon—both Latias and Latios included. Before the Valentine’s Day event kicks off, though, players can participate and enjoy in this year’s Lunar New Year event, which runs from February 9 through February 14.
