Resident Evil 8 is a title that has been cloaked in mystery ever since it was first announced during the PlayStation 5 reveal showcase. With the in-depth details surrounding the game being few and far between, as is to be anticipated of a forthcoming Resident Evil game, the Resident Evil 8 showcase that happened a few hours ago was a much-needed information dump for waiting fans. One particular detail likely shocked a lot of players during the showcase.

Ever since the game was first revealed, fans have drawn a lot of comparisons to Resident Evil 4, as there were a lot of resemblances between the two titles. Both take place in an unknown region, populated with gothic architectures and castles.

To see him revived into this robed, hefty, jolly man in a cart is certain to make a lot of old-school fans nostalgic.

This begs the question of how else will Resident Evil 8 compare to Resident Evil 4. With speculations of a possible remake of Resident Evil 4, it will be exciting to see how Resident Evil 8 is identical and different from its contemporary. It also has to live up to the colossal success of Resident Evil 7, which left a lot of players excited and fascinated for what’s to come.

In addition to the Duke, quite a lot of new content was revealed for Resident Evil 8. However, one detail that stood out to fans watching is the exclusive PlayStation 5 demo for the game. The demo for Resident Evil 7 featuring Clancy Jarvis drew in a lot of fans and unveiled bits and pieces of the story that was to arrive in the full game.

Honestly, a lot of details about the overarching story for Resident Evil 8 have been announced already, but a lot of the lore revolving around these new characters and environment will probably be shown in detail in the demo.

Resident Evil 8 Confirmed To Have Free Next-Gen Upgrade

The first time Capcom announced Resident Evil 8, the company only confirmed that the upcoming title would be released on the PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X. For how many months, the developer and publisher didn’t mention anything about the last generation of consoles, and whether or not it would be released on the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.

Understandably, this lack of confirmation made fans wonder if they would have to upgrade to the newest generation of consoles if they want a chance to play the latest iteration in the Resident Evil franchise. Fortunately, Capcom has finally broken its silence and confirmed that this doesn’t have to be the case.

During the Resident Evil Showcase event that took place recently, the company finally announced that Resident Evil 8 (otherwise known as Resident Evil Village) will be playable on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Not only that, but this version will be releasing at the same time as the next-generation version.

In other words, those fans who are having a difficult time trying to obtain a copy of a next-gen console or those who simply don’t plan on upgrading will be able to play the game on their older consoles this May 7, 2021 when Resident Evil 8 gets launched.

To make things even better for fans, Capcom also confirmed that players who have a copy of the game for either the PS4 or Xbox One will be able to upgrade their version for free. In this way, fans will be able to see and experience what the new and improved versions have to offer without spending extra money.

That being said, some fans have been wondering why Capcom didn’t confirm the PS4 and Xbox One versions early on. If anything, the company seemed hesitant to do so. Although Capcom didn’t explain why this is the case, there are theories regarding this.

A few months back, the developer initially hinted at the possibility of a PS4 and Xbox One version for Resident Evil 8. However, it’s worth noting that at that time, it didn’t make any promises. Fans speculate that Capcom was having a hard time trying to scale back the game in order to accommodate the capabilities of the older consoles. Now, it appears that everything is in order, seeing as the company confirmed the last-gen versions of Resident Evil 8 during the showcase.

Even though Resident Evil 8 is officially a cross-generation game now, the next-gen versions will still have exclusive features and benefits. Asides from the fact that the newest generation of consoles will have even better graphics and performance, Resident Evil 8 won’t have any load times.

As such, the overall experience that fans will have while playing the game will be significantly better and smoother. In other news, PlayStation 5 users have the privilege of being able to test out the game earlier than others. Specifically, a PS5-exclusive demo is now available for fans to download on the PlayStation Store. Smash Bros Ultimate’s Sephiroth Is Capable Of Inflicting 59,000 Damage

Last month, it was revealed that Final Fantasy 7’s fan-favorite antagonist, Sephiroth, was joining the coveted Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster of playable characters as a DLC fighter. Now that over a month has passed since his reveal, fans are now beginning to discover just how powerful he is.

Based on experimentation, it turns out that Sephiroth is stronger than we would have ever thought. If you specifically follow a checklist to ensure that everything has been set up correctly, the villain is capable of dealing incredible damage in just one hit—up to 59,000% to be specific.

Sephiroth’s addition to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s already jam-packed roster was initially announced during The Game Awards 2020, much to the fans’ surprise and delight. The announcement video featured a scene that was probably the most-talked about moment of last year’s event—a scene that showcases Sephiroth supposedly piercing Nintendo’s Mario with his sharp longsword.

Last year’s The Game Awards was definitely a night to remember for fans of the silver-haired villain, as Sephiroth and Cloud were also under the spotlight for another game in that event. Specifically, Final Fantasy 7 Remake was nominated for Best RPG category, and then consequently won.

Sephiroth’s limelight didn’t end there, though. Nintendo also released a video showcasing all of his skills and abilities on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, as presented by game director Masahiro Sakurai. Given all this information, there’s still so much that fans can learn about the beloved villain.

For example, YouTuber Nintendo Unity recently uploaded a step-by-step video explaining what you need to do in order for Sephiroth to deal damage up to 59,000% with just one strike. However, the process is complex and there are a lot of things you need to set up first before such power can be achieved.

For one thing, the video says that the best move to use for this is Sephiroth’s Gigaflare attack. Apparently, using this attack on your enemy in a 1v1 setting will more or less deal a base of 47% damage. Sounds easy enough, right? Well, that’s not necessarily the case.

The video lasts 8 minutes long, and it fully details what you need to do in order for that Gigaflare to reach its peak performance. You need to utilize a specific stage, rival, items, check the necessary settings, and more.

Even though there’s still so much to learn about Sephiroth, the Super Smash Bros. community is already discussing and speculating which character will be the next one to join the roster. There have been rumors recently stating that perhaps characters from the Tales franchise will be the next ones in line.

In fact, there’s one leak that specifically features Tales of Symphonia’s Lloyd Irving and Tales of Vesperia’s Yuri Lowell. At this point, we can’t gauge the verity of this leak, as there were some leaked DLC fighters in the past who never saw the light of day.

Although Nintendo has been on a roll in introducing new fighters to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s already massive roster, we don’t think that fans will ever get enough of these new characters. We’re not complaining though—keep them coming, Nintendo!

PUBG v10.2 Update Is Now Live

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds v10.2 is now online and it brings new vehicle emotes, improvements to ranked mode, a new Coupe to drive, and a lot more. With PUBG Season 10 well on its way, this is not a big update, but one that is outlined to provide players several new features and support a few of the game’s eSports initiatives.

Possibly the first thing that players will notice in the new patch is the new Coupe RB – a fast two-person vehicle. It can reach speeds of up to 150 kilometers per hour, and while it can’t fit a full team of four, it does provide more protection compared to a bike. Players can find the new vehicle in the Sanhok, Miramar, and Erangel maps, but not on the new urban map Haven, which was added when PUBG Season 10 was launched last month.

Another vehicle-associated improvement in the update is the new Vehicle Emotes, which allow players to use emotes while in the air while using Motorbikes. PUBG update v10.2 came to test networks several weeks ago and included the Reputation System.

The aforementioned system is being installed to designate whether or not players are well-behaved or toxic toward each other. A reputation level will be shown next to a team member’s name ranging from zero to five. A low-level reputation indicates the player was reported for bad gameplay, team killing, being rude, and a lot more.

In a struggle to support eSports, the update also includes a few exciting ways to watch PUBG’s PGIs event. In-game screens will show live-streamed portions of the event. In addition, there will be an eSports tab from the main menu to watch the PGIs.

However, this feature is for PC players only, so for those who play PUBG on consoles or mobile, they will have to watch the PUBG Global Invitationals elsewhere.

Resident Evil Village Demo: The Maiden Now Available On PS5

During the recently concluded Resident Evil Showcase, Capcom revealed that PlayStation 5 owners can now download an exclusive Resident Evil Village Demo, The Maiden, beginning today. The short online event was chock-filled with a few other major revelations, as well. Most notably, the publisher confirmed that the highly awaited survival horror game will be available on the current-gen, last-gen, and PC in May 2021.

The event also revealed a brand new story trailer, which featured more insight about what protagonist Ethan Winters will have to fight with this time around. Capcom additionally provided a first look for the Resident Evil Village gameplay, complete with news that the merchant from Resident Evil 4 has returned. Apparently, what has also made a comeback is Capcom’s affection for getting innovative with its pre-release demos.

An exclusive Resident Evil Village demo called The Maiden is now available to download exclusively on the PlayStation 5. However, The Maiden does not feature any of Resident Evil Village’s combat encounters or weapons.

As a matter of fact, the demo does not contain combat at all. Instead of playing as Ethan, the game’s protagonist, players will take the role of the demo’s titular Maiden. The goal of the character is focused on finding a way out of the castle, an experience that will allow players to become fully immersed in the visuals and audio that will be on display in Resident Evil Village. While this demo will be exclusive on the PlayStation 5, Capcom has plans to launch a separate demo across all platforms on an undefined date this spring.

Soon after the Resident Evil Showcase ended, news of the demo’s launched caused players to flock to the PlayStation Store. And it did not take long for the PlayStation Store to start crashing due to the weight of the overwhelming demand.

As of writing, however, it seems as though everything should be business as usual. Anyone who wants to drop into Resident Evil Village’s creepy castle via The Maiden demo can do so now. Luckily, the road to the next mainline Resident Evil entry is nearly at an end.

It has been a long and winding road, too. Many fans may remember that cursory information regarding Resident Evil Village hit the web ahead of Capcom’s summer 2020 announcement, thanks to leaks from insiders.

Story spoilers popped up late last year because of a data breach on the publisher’s servers. Soon enough, players will get to experience Ethan’s next fear-inducing adventure for themselves.

Capcom Reveals Resident Evil 8 Release Date

Ever since Resident Evil 8 (otherwise known as Resident Evil Village) was announced during the 2020 Future of Gaming event by Sony, it has been one of the most highly awaited next-gen games. Since its initial announcement though, Capcom has been treading lightly when it comes to reveals, ensuring that it doesn’t say too much before the game’s launch.

While the Capcom security breach last year leaked crucial information about the upcoming title, there was still a lot that we didn’t know. Fortunately, the Resident Evil Showcase took place recently, an event dedicated to the Resident Evil franchise as a whole, along with news about its future. Thanks to the recent event, we now know that Resident Evil 8 is set to release on May 7, 2021.

Resident Evil 8 is the most recent game in Capcom’s highly acclaimed horror series that has been around since 1996. When Capcom announced the upcoming title last year, the company was hesitant to reveal if whether or not the game will be released on either the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.

This was mainly because the developer created the game with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in mind, so performance is expected to be optimal in those two platforms. Sadly, Resident Evil 8: Village won’t support VR systems unlike Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.

That being said, the game is now available for pre-orders, and there are three different editions on offer—regular edition, deluxe edition, and collector’s edition. The standard version will come with the base game as well as the RE: Verse multiplayer component. On the other hand, the deluxe edition will consist of various bonuses, along with cosmetics based on Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.

Pre-ordering this will also allow players to obtain the “Survival Resources DLC Pack” and the “Mr. Raccoon Weapon Charm” cosmetic. For those who want to go all out, Capcom also announced a collector’s edition, which includes a poster, an art book, a Chris Redfield statue, and more.

If pre-orders are made through the PlayStation Store, players will earn a mini soundtrack. Not only that, interested players are also given the option to purchase both Resident Evil 8: Village and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard thanks to a digital bundle.

The game’s release date coincides with Resident Evil’s 25th anniversary, which Capcom has big plans for. For one thing, Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness—the original Netflix series—is expected to release later within the year. Not only that, the Showcase event revealed Resident Evil 8’s multiplayer component, RE: Verse, as well as the fact that Ubisoft’s The Division 2 will contain Resident Evil content. The New Pokemon Snap was announced during the summer, and while the reveal brought excitement to fans of the original Nintendo 64 game, Nintendo was fairly silent about the details of the game. Fortunately, the developers have recently opened up, offering more information about the upcoming game. Now included in this downpour is a live-action, environmental-themed advertisement dedicated towards the title’s Japanese fans.

The unanticipated sequel to the Pokemon-centered photography simulator has been making rounds over the past few months. The company made a shocking move a few days ago by releasing a new trailer for the New Pokemon Snap which included the title’s official launch date.

To the satisfaction of many, the game was scheduled for release this April 2021, only a few months since the trailer was posted. Listings for the New Pokemon Snap started to go live on different retail sites, unveiling more details about the game.

The previously unknown information includes the price – the game will cost $59.99 – and the game’s total download size. Perhaps the most intriguing fact players learned in the new surge of information was discovered on Nintendo’s website. Following a brief description of the game, there is a reminder that the game will support online play in some kind of way.

This new, and probably wackiest, glance into the New Pokemon Snap can be viewed on the NintendoEverything official YouTube site. The brief, 15-second footage kicks off with a thrilled kid holding a huge camera, ready to engage on an adventure.

The close-up quickly falls back to show a tropical setting, a large but closed gate, and a similarly clothed adult whose wild excitement is something to behold. With an electrifying fist bump, the clip transitions to some beautiful, in-game footage of those charming Pokemon.

The short advertisement features a wide variety of items and creatures from the game in quick succession. The first shot shows a sleeping Dodrio, which may call to mind a few instances in the original game when the player can wake sleeping Pokemon for special photos.

Next, a Torchic is seen happily setting an apple on fire. Anyone who has played the original Nintendo 64 game will remember apple-like Pokemon food as one of the first items players can acquire and it seems like the delicacy will be making a comeback to the New Pokemon Snap.

The pace quickens at this point, displaying a Pikachu on the beach playing with an apple, an enthusiastic Grookey and Pichu, and a Pidgeot flying towards the camera with a Magikarp in its talons.

While quick and short, this New Pokemon Snap advertisement showcases some interesting elements of the game and hints towards possible items and enjoyable Pokemon photo ops. More details are certain to come out before the game’s launch in April, though it may not be as fun to watch as this advertisement.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint on PC is Free for a Limited Time

When Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint was released back in 2019, it didn’t really receive the kind of attention that its developer and publisher probably wanted for it. Garnering only mediocre reviews, the game didn’t gain support and popularity.

Many of those who tried it out said that the online tactical shooter wasn’t very good technically, as it had a lot of glitches and bugs that no player would really want to deal with. Not only that, its storyline wasn’t anything special and didn’t hook you in, even with the help of Jon Bernthal, popularly known for his roles in The Walking Dead and Punisher.

That being said, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint has undergone many changes since then, thanks to the various updates released by Ubisoft. Luckily for those who haven’t played the game before, it’s currently available for free on PC until January 24. If this is the kind of game that you play and you want to try it out, head on over to either Ubisoft Connect or the Epic Games Store to get your hands on it.

Not only that, you will be able to transfer your progress over to the full game if you decide to purchase your own copy once the free trial ends. Doing so will give you a chance to keep on playing the game even after this event is done.

If you haven’t played Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint when it first got launched, it’s your typical online shooter which takes place in Auroa, a set of fictional islands situated somewhere in the Pacific Ocean.

You play as special forces colonel Anthony Perryman, who is tasked to explore and investigate the islands due to a series of strange events revolving around Skell Technology, a manufacturer of futuristic arms.

However, things don’t go well for Perryman, and he finds himself head-to-head with Cole Walker (played by Bernthal), a former Ghost Recon colonel, and his fellow ex-military soldiers. Even though the game’s plot was set up to be interesting, it ultimately left many players disappointed. In fact, some even claimed that the supposedly intimidating main antagonist could already be killed in the first mission alone.

In any case, Ubisoft has incorporated a bunch of changes via updates since last year, so we’re definitely intrigued to see if whether or not the limited-time free offer will bring about a surge of new players, or if they will also leave disappointed like the first batch.

While it can’t be denied that turning the tables around for a game that has been labeled as a disappointment isn’t easy, it’s definitely not impossible. Games like Sea of Thieves and Star Wars Battlefront 2 were able to drastically change for the better thanks to various updates, so there’s still hope left for Ghost Recon Breakpoint.

Fortnite Players Discover Pesky Invisibility Glitch

Fortnite is well into Season 2 Chapter 5, and everything is going full speed ahead. This season, just like the one that came before it, is full of familiar faces that help the game embrace its current theme, “Zero Point.”

However, new content means new bugs and glitches as well, and it appears that Epic Games’ battle royale is being plagued by a new one that turns a player invisible during a match. Popular YouTuber Glitch King delves deep into this new exploit in a recent video, which allows players to remain invisible for an indefinite amount of time by using the cloaking device.

Fortnite recently released version 15.21, which introduced the latest crossover—this time around, it’s from the Predator series. During a match, players have the option to fight against the franchise’s signature alien in the form of a boss battle if they want to obtain his skin.

That said, there’s a brand-new item that comes with it: the Predator’s cloak device. In normal circumstances, this cloaking device is supposed to grant players powers of invisibility for only a limited time, allowing them the chance to ambush enemy players.

However, this device hasn’t been working the way Epic Games wanted it to, and has now become a cause for annoyance within the community. Even though the crossover only went live recently, players were already able to find a glitch that could be exploited.

Basically, thanks to the glitch, players can remain in a state of invisibility until the end of the match or until that player in particular logs out of the game. Now, as one can imagine, this exploit offers plenty of opportunities for abuse, especially since enemy players can only see the outline of the invisible player when at a distance.

To make things worse, Glitch King’s video gives interested players an idea on how to fully take advantage of the glitch. After activating the cloaking device, players simply need to disconnect their internet connection. However, it’s essential to reconnect it immediately. When these steps are done successfully, the game will leave the player’s character indefinitely invisible.

In other words, players are free to do whatever they want during the course of the match, with little to no chance that enemies will be able to fight back. Since activating the glitch is simple to do, as can be seen on Glitch King’s video, any Fortnite player can do this exploit at least until Epic Games fixes it.

It’s normal for games to have bugs and glitches, no matter the platform and genre. However, if an incredibly unfair glitch such as this one is found in competitive multiplayer games, this leads to frustration and annoyance more than anything.

Fortnite, especially, is no stranger to glitches and many are quite unhappy with this fact, especially since more keep popping up with every new addition. While it’s great that Epic Games wants to provide players with a fresh experience with every new chapter or season, it’s unfortunate that this new inclusion is leaving players upset.

Reports Claim That Apple Is Developing Its Own VR Headset

Virtual Reality is becoming more and more popular these days, and it appears that a brand-new competitor will be entering the market. Recent reports claim that the multinational technology company Apple is making a high-class VR headset, which will supposedly mark its first steps into a more technologically advanced future.

A few reports have been circulating for the past couple of months revolving around Apple and the development of its reportedly new product. Asides from the potential VR headset, the company may also be working on a self-driving car. This project of Apple’s, which has been given the codename Project Titan, is expected to release by 2024—a decade after the project started.

The VR headset, on the other hand, is estimated to be released much sooner than that, specifically by 2022. According to Bloomberg, the upcoming headset will not only include VR, but AR technology as well. It will be used for more than just gaming too, as its capabilities allow it to be used for video and communications.

This sounds like a big step forward—and it is! Apple plans to make use of some of its most powerful chips for this device, supposedly even more powerful and advanced than any other Apple device released so far. In fact, the chips that are reportedly being tested for the headset are outperforming the processor of Apple’s M1 Mac.

However, the device has gone through several issues during its development, so the company is being realistic and cautious in its sales expectations. This isn’t something that Apple would usually do, though, as the company typically expects incredible numbers when it comes to its new devices.

However, it’s worth noting that the high-powered chips being tested and used for this product require a fan, which is something that Apple usually avoids when it comes to its mobile devices. For its design, the company decided to condense the headset nearer to the user’s face, removing that extra space that allows people to keep on wearing glasses.

We imagine that many will have an issue with this choice, but on the other hand, the VR headset can be fitted with custom prescription lenses. On the downside, Apple could run into another issue with this, as this could subject the headset to regulations revolving around the selling of products that have prescriptions.

Since Apple is a multinational company, it sells its plethora of products all over the world, and each country has its own varying rules about prescriptions. Of course, its biggest issue is probably is price, at least for the regular consumers who don’t have a lot of extra money to throw away.

The VR headset is expected to be far more expensive than its existing competitors, such as Oculus and the soon-to-release Samsung Odyssey VR headset.

In any case, despite all its ongoing issues that Apple needs to figure out, it’s expected that VR and VR headsets will only rise in popularity in the upcoming years. In fact, a recent study claims that by 2025, around millions upon millions of VR headsets will be used actively.
