Koei Tecmo Giving Away Free Armors In Celebration of Nioh 2 PS5 Release

Something amazing is arriving in Nioh 2 next month! To commemorate the launch of the Nioh Collection on the PlayStation 5, developer Koei Tecmo has announced that they will be including free armor sets for fans to celebrate the event. The sets will be available to download between February 5 to 26 so there’s still time to grab a copy for those interested.

The collection contains Nioh 2 Remastered: The Complete Edition and the free update will consist of two armor sets in particular – the Sohaya deserter garb and ornate gold. The only requirement is that players must ensure that they have a version of the game installed on their PlayStation 5 between the dates mentioned above.

A tweet was published on the official Twitter page of PlayStation, which features the two new armor sets, both of which look rather enchanting. This might allure gamers to pick up the game for the PlayStation 5, but it’s worth mentioning that this is available for a limited time only.

Nioh 2 was originally launched back in March 2020 as a PlayStation 4 exclusive. The action RPG works as both a prequel and sequel to 2017’s Nioh. Developer Team Ninja has also hinted at the probability of new announcements, which might mean a new Nioh game arriving in the foreseeable future. Whatever the fallout, fans will certainly be hyped about what could be revealed.

However, as of writing, it appears that the exclusive free armor sets are only limited to the PlayStation 5 of the Nioh Collection although there is a PC edition of the game arriving as well.

Pokemon Go Reveals Upcoming Hoenn Commemoration Event

In preparation for the huge Kanot event coming next month, Pokemon Go has been holding exclusive commemoration festivities themed around the various generations of the franchise. It began with the newest addition, Pokemon X and Y’s Kalos region, and has been running backward, with the Sinnog region festivities scheduled to end this Sunday.

This means the next region to be featured in the game is the Hoenn region from Gen 3, particularly the Pokemon Emerald, Sapphire, and Ruby titles that were launched on the Gameboy Advance and later remade for the 3DS as Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.

The festivities will start in Pokemon Go next Tuesday, January 19, at 10 AM local time and end on Sunday, January 24, at 8 PM, which provides players online five days or so to take advantage of its one of a kind offerings.

Of course, Pokemon native to the Hoenn region will show more often, which includes the three starters of the featured title: Mudkip, Torchic, and Treecko. Niantic also mentioned that lucky players will also have the chance to encounter the shiny form of Aron.

For raids, Bagon, Aron, Ralts, Mudkip, Torchic, and Treecko will appear in 1-star raids, while Absol, Spinda, Grumpig, Mawile, and Breloom will appear in 3-star raids. Anyone who engages in 5-star raids will have the chance to encounter one of the two Legendaries featured in the cover of the games – Sapphore’s Kyogre and Ruby’s Groudon.

Players are encouraged to capture both of the Legendaries as doing so will reward them with 10 Kyogre Candies and 10 Groudon Candies respectively. Niantic will also be offering a free bundle that contains three Remote Raid passes to aid players in challenging the two Legendary Pokemon. It will be available for download from the in-game store on Tuesday.

Emerald’s Legendary cover Pokemon, Rayquaza, will also be in the game, but to challenge it, players will have to finish all the Timed Research tasks during the event. A Rayquaza captured during the game will know the exclusive Charged Attack move, Hurricane, and will come with 3000 XP as well as a Silver Pinap Berry. There will also be a chance that a shiny Rayquaza will be encountered during the event.

Developer Niantic has massive plans in store for the Kanto event. For starters, it’s actually two different celebrations, as players will be given the option between Red and Blue versions, with each version offering exclusive Pokemon, similar to the main games. Players will be tasked to try and capture all 150 original Pokemon, with several of them having a chance to show up in their shiny forms for the first time ever.

Call of Duty Warzone players haven’t been satisfied with the game recently. Whether it’s cheaters flooding the game, overpowered weapons, or the unlimited stim glitch that does not appear to be getting addressed properly, the gaming community is getting discontented. One specific issue that has players in pandemonium right now is the integration of Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War into Call of Duty Warzone.

A few weeks after the release of Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War, the game got an update that allowed it to share player progression, unlocks, and a lot more with Call of Duty Warzone. Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Remake To Be Revealed In February – Rumor

Pokemon fans have been spoiled with new content these past few years. The Nintendo Switch console has seen the launch of various major Pokemon game releases. First, came the more casual Pokemon Let’s Go remakes of the original Pokemon Yellow.

Then came Pokemon Sword and Shield, the first main series Pokemon launches on the Switch. Now, if rumors are true, remakes of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl are next. And the latest rumor points they may be announced sooner than anticipated.

Spanish news outlet Pokemon Center reveals that it has sources close to The Pokemon Company confirming that Pokemon Diamond and Pearl remakes for the Nintendo Switch will be unveiled next month.

No details regarding when in February the revelation will be made, nor what type of event the games will be announced at were disclosed. Fans will have to wait for additional information about the rumored Pokemon Diamond and Pearl remake announcement.

However, the Pokemon Center does have one other rumor to share, in addition to the apparent reveal window. The site believes that their sources also confirmed that Pokemon Sword and Shield will take more from the original titles than other Nintendo Switch Pokemon remakes. Particularly, Pokemon Diamond and Pearl will feature traditional Pokemon capture mechanics, instead of gameplay changes because of Pokemon Go’s influence.

This last rumor is sure to cause more questions than it resolves, however. Pokemon Let’s Go took many freedoms compared to the original Pokemon Yellow game. Pokemon fans were perplexed regarding the changes but were grateful for the Pokemon Let’s Go games for what they were. Those main fans would surely like to see Pokemon Diamond and Pearl’s remakes be more legit. Changing how Pokemon are caught is one huge modification and it probably hints at other big changes.

Pokemon Diamond and Pearl’s release window does coincide with another rumor making rounds on the internet. That rumor hints at a new Nintendo Direct showcase planned for the last week of February. In November 2020, Famitsu revealed that Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town was nearly done with its development. Now, new information from Famitsu has once again circulated. Specifically, new screenshots for Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town reveal the game’s character customization tools.

Compared to the past Story of Seasons games and even the Harvest Moon ones, it’s safe to say that this latest entry in the franchise has the most extensive character customization options so far. Long-time fans of both Story of Seasons and Harvest Moon know that usually, the games under these two franchises either only offer a few preset options or a preset character that you can’t customize at all.

For instance, players could only choose between either the brunette Naomi or the blonde Claire in Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town. These two were the only options if players wanted to play as a girl character. This time around, though, it appears that Story of Seasons will be offering its players with a wide array of customization options, which is something that many fans have been requesting for a long time.

Based on a few screenshots from Famitsu, Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town players will be able to customize their character’s eye color (including a heterochromia option), hair color, clothing, hairstyle, as well as skin color.

If players happen to get tired of the hairstyle they started the game with, they can still change it later on in the game by going to a hair salon. In the same way, other clothing options will also be made available to the player as they progress through the game, such as winter clothes and more.

New Pokemon Snap Will Be Set In New Region

Revealed only a few days ago, New Pokemon Snap is one of the titles that has been announced to release this year in celebration of Pokemon’s 25th anniversary. According to the announcement, the upcoming title is set in a brand-new location called the Lental region.

The Pokemon Company initially revealed New Pokemon Snap last year, much to the fans’ surprise. The upcoming title serves as a follow-up to the initial Nintendo 64 game, and many fans didn’t expect that this kind of sequel was in the works.

Nonetheless, many fans of the original classic game are hyped for this upcoming release, especially since New Pokemon Snap will be released on the Nintendo Switch. In other words, it will offer similar gameplay that fans loved while incorporating new and improved graphics. Asides from this fact though, fans are looking forward to New Pokemon Snap because it will be set on Lental region, a new locale that fans haven’t been to before.

Since it’s a new place, not a lot of details have been revealed about Lental region just yet, even in the game’s overall lore. However, just like the original Pokemon Snap, the upcoming Nintendo Switch title will have players traversing through an expansive island to survey and take photos of a variety of Pokemon.

From what we can see so far, New Pokemon Snap will play similarly to the original Nintendo 64 game, but one of its differences is that it will no longer be set in Pokemon Island. As for the Lental region, the announcement made by Nintendo of America in its official Twitter account states that it is made up of a bunch of different islands.

No matter the area though, players will still have the same classic experience of observing different Pokemon as they meander through their natural habitats. That being said, fans are now wondering how New Pokemon Snap will handle the current Pokedex.

Out of the 151 Pokemon, Pokemon Snap for the N64 only included 63, so it’s highly possible that New Pokemon Snap won’t be including all 898 Pokemon that’s currently a part of the overall franchise.

New Pokemon usually get introduced in the series during a mainline title, and at the moment, there’s nearly 1,000 Pokemon entries overall. We doubt that New Pokemon Snap will be the one to help the series reach this milestone, especially since it’s only a spin-off game. However, given the fact that it’s going to be set in a new region, there’s still a slight chance that this will be the case.

Along with the announcement, Nintendo also dropped a trailer for New Pokemon Snap, which showcases the mesmerizing environment and landscapes in Lental. One thing that was noticeable is the upcoming game’s graphics and visuals. It’s clear to see that the different aspects of the game, including its Pokemon, are now of high quality—this is something that many Pokemon fans have previously criticized the franchise for.

It’s safe to say that with each new Pokemon game that gets released, the graphics and overall quality edge closer and closer to what the fans have always wanted in a modern Pokemon title.

Apex Legends’ Kings Canyon Map Has Returned

After what feels like forever, fans will once again be able to experience Apex Legends’ Kings Canyon map in this rotation. After being noticeably absent for most of Season 7, the original map is finally available to play on once again. Although Kings Canyon will only be around for a limited time, it has brought with it a special addition.

In the area that was once known as Skull Town, Kings Canyon will have the Mirage Voyage party ship there instead. Long-time Apex Legends players may be familiar with this party ship, as the Mirage Voyage was first introduced to the game in Season 3 during the first Holo-Day Bash’s Mirage Town Takeover.

With the release of Apex Legends Season 7, not only was Kings Canyon replaced with the new map Olympus, it was completely taken out of the map rotation. While Olympus is still a part of the current rotation, fans will be able to head on over to Kings Canyon until January 21, 2021, for a little trip down memory lane.

Not only will it offer a bit of nostalgia for those players who were able to experience Kings Canyon the first time around, the returning map gives current players the chance to discover a new secret. In the Mirage Voyage, players will find a voice recording in the cabin that will give players lore to ponder over.

More specifically, the audio recording is apparently from Mirage’s mother himself. It’s a truly heartbreaking recording to listen to though, as Mirage’s mother sounds incredibly tired and she seems to be having a difficult time trying to recollect her memories.

With this newfound lore, it seems clear that Mirage’s mother had Alzheimer’s, yet she was able to remember a couple of their family members. One of the people she mentions is Mirage’s Uncle Droz, who happens to be a Titanfall 2 pilot from the 6-4 faction.

On the other hand, his mother also mentions Davis, who is yet another character in Titanfall 2. Davis eventually creates The Last Resort faction alongside Droz.

Asides from the Mirage Voyage, however, the Kings Canyon map offers other fun and exciting content and features to Apex Legends players. For one thing, there’s another ship floating above the map, and it has a billboard promoting the fact that Salvo has joined the mercenary organizers for The Syndicate. For those who don’t know, The Syndicate is an Apex Legends tournament.

Many fans speculate that this is some kind of teaser for the highly awaited Season 8, where Apex Legends players may learn more about Salvo as well as the intriguing planet that was mentioned in the Season 7 quest called Family Portrait.

In other news, a couple of leaks and rumors have been circulating as Apex Legends Season 7 slowly draws to a close. For one thing, a datamine for the game indicates that Fuse may be joining Apex Legends’ roster of playable characters.

Fuse was previously leaked before Season 7 started; in fact, many believed that he would be the new Legend for that season before Horizon was officially revealed. Speaking of Horizon, one of the developers from Respawn Entertainment implied that the highly popular Scottish character may be getting a nerf in a future update, and as expected, not a lot of fans are happy about it.

Apex Legends Developer Reveals That Horizon May Be Getting Nerfed In The Future

The release of Apex Legends Season 7 brought about the introduction of Horizon, a Scottish astrophysicist, who quickly became a fan-favorite Legend to play in the game. Her popularity doesn’t come as a surprise though, given her amusing voice lines (“When you’re a master of black holes, relativity becomes… well, relative”), her fun and upbeat personality, and how extremely powerful she is.

However, now that Season 8 is just around the corner, the team behind Apex Legends may be planning to nerf the much-loved character due to a statistic revealed by one of the developers. Ever since Respawn Entertainment’s hero shooter battle royale was launched, Wraith has always been the character that most players chose.

Wraith overshadowed all the other characters in terms of pick rate, win rate, and win encounter rate—even including competitive matches. Now, however, the crown has been passed over to Horizon, who dominates overall win rate these days.

Thanks to Horizon’s abilities, players who use her are able to crowd control, have advantageous positions, as well as move fast to escape danger. Even though Respawn Entertainment already nerfed Horizon during the most recent Fight Night Collection Event, it appears that the Legend will be receiving yet another nerf in the future, according to Apex Legends live balance designer John Larson.

According to Larson, however, it appears that Horizon’s tactical ability is once again in line for yet another downgrade. Although, the developer states that they will try to avoid any major changes as much as possible.

This plan to nerf Horizon was revealed by Larson in a reply to a post on the Apex Legends subReddit. In his reply, Larson states that Horizon will most likely receive the same kind of treatment that Wraith and Pathfinder received since she now holds the top spot for win rate.

While Horizon and Wraith nearly have the same encounter win rate, Respawn Entertainment intended for Horizon to be an incredibly powerful Legend upon her release simply because many other Legends in the roster were underpowered when they officially became a part of the game’s roster.

Although the nerf hasn’t officially gone live yet and it’s still in its testing stages, Larson provides different options in which they can make some tweaks and adjustments to Horizon’s tactical ability. “Looking at her tactical alone there are all sorts of dials we can turn including vertical lift speed, horizontal speed/acceleration, ejection speed/time, cool down, weapon accuracy, and the list goes on,” he states.

Capcom Giving Away Free Resident Evil Village PlayStation Avatar

Having recently revealed the forthcoming Resident Evil Showcase, Capcom has announced that they are giving away a free avatar on the PlayStation Store that all PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 owners can download via a redemption code.

The Resident Evil Showcase will go online this Thursday, January 21, with What’s Good Games’ Brittney Brombacher to host the virtual event. During the showcase, Capcom plans to reveal a new trailer, as well as debut a first-look gameplay for Resident Evil Village.

Capcom has several other surprises in store for their upcoming online event, too. In commemoration of the horror series’ 25th anniversary, the publisher will hold a close beta testing for an unrevealed Resident Evil multiplayer game, which should get additional details during the showcase.

Fans can currently sign up for an opportunity to participate in the beta by registering on the official website of the game. To be considered, applicants must be 18 years old and have a Capcom ID linked to the Resident Evil Ambassador program.

Now, Capcom is utilizing PSN avatars to build up the Resident Evil Village excitement. For an unannounced period of time, PS4 and PS5 owners can log into the PS Store and redeem a free avatar of a cryptic vampire lady.

No one knows what the unrevealed Resident Evil multiplayer game brings as of writing. Capcom’s last attempt at an online multiplayer title with the franchise came in the form of Resident Evil Resistance, a mode bundled with last year’s Resident Evil 3 remake.

To the satisfaction of many players, Resident Evil has enjoyed revivals in the previous years. Its return to the forefront started with the 2017 release of Resident Evil 7, which marked a major departure from the franchise, as players were set in a first-person perspective.

Resident Evil Village will serve as a direct sequel of that narrative, answering a plethora of lingering questions from both the 2017 smash hit and the series’ expansive story arc. Because of a data breach that affected Capcom’s servers back in November 2020, it appears leaks might have spoiled some of Resident Evil Village’s main narrative beats.

Twitch is Partnering With Samsung

Samsung, the multinational conglomerate from South Korea, has had a long history tied to the gaming industry. The tech company has even participated in specific marketing events for different popular video games, such as Fortnite when it released skins inspired from the Galaxy Note smartphone line.

Now, it appears that Samsung Electronics will be diving even deeper into the competitive gaming scene. This time around, Samsung and Twitch Rivals North America have secured an exclusive deal.

For those who are unfamiliar, Twitch Rivals is a series of online tournaments where different streamers have to compete against one another across a variety of titles. The most recent event for this was a duos competition in Call of Duty: Warzone worth $75,000.

This partnership between Samsung and Twitch was announced last January 13, 2021, and this collaboration will last the whole year. According to Samsung’s press release, the Samsung Galaxy will be “the exclusive mobile device partner of Twitch Rivals North America.”

Deadline states in a recent report that this partnership was officially formalized during the 2021 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) when the Twitch Rivals broadcast was held. There are a couple of elements to this collaboration. For instance, there will be new Twitch Rivals Mobile Challenges; Mobile Mondays, a tournament series that will last the entire year and will offer all kinds of rewards; and “crossover events” where streamers will play mobile games together.

The press release by Samsung also mentions that “Mobile Gaming Heroes” will debut some time this year, which will consist of those content creators who host exclusive streams, create original content themselves, and take part in different events that are related to Twitch Rivals.

In other news, the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event was hosted shortly after the partnership was officially announced. This latest event revealed various new pieces of technology by Samsung, such as the Galaxy Buds Pro earbuds and the Samsung Galaxy S21 smartphone line.

Twitch may be right in the middle of a few controversies recently—from the numerous DMCA takedowns that many content creators have experienced, to the platform removing the highly popular “Pogchamp” emote after the model said some very controversial comments regarding the storming of the U.S. Capitol last week—but the platform continues to grow and thrive amidst it all.

Only recently, Spanish streamer David “TheGrefg” Martinez broke the record for concurrent viewers on the platform. On January 11, 2.4 million users were watching him reveal the most recent Fortnite Icon Series skin.

That being said, the video game community hasn’t always reacted well to exclusivity deals such as this. This can be seen in the way gamers had such a negative reaction to when YouTube Gaming had exclusive streaming rights to Call of Duty and Overwatch League in 2020.

As such, we’re curious to see how the community will react to this partnership between Samsung and Twitch Rivals. Who knows? Perhaps the fact that the collaboration will be focusing more on mobile events won’t cause such an uproar.

That being said, it will only be a matter of time before more collaborations such as this will surely crop up in the future.
