Genshin Impact Celebrates Diona’s Birthday With Free Gifts

In celebration of Diona’s birthday, Genshin Impact gave away two gifts for free to its players. However, it’s worth noting that one of the two items currently serves no purpose, but that may change in the future.

Diona is one of the newer characters that got launched along with Version 1.2. Her introduction is somewhat memorable because not only is she a cat-girl (the internet loves cats!), Diona is the very first four-star character to be released by miHoYo after the game’s launch.

If you find yourself in need of a Cryo or bow user who also happens to be a support character, then definitely try out this adorable bartender. She’s a fairly versatile character though, as many Genshin Impact players have also used her as a DPS when the right kind of build is used.

Diona may not be as powerful as Ganyu, but she can hold up on her own pretty well. She’s definitely a worthy Cryo/bow character to have on your team, especially if you want to stick to a completely free-to-play playthrough.

Even though she’s a beloved bartender in Mondstadt’s Cat’s Tail Tavern, she actually hates alcohol and wants to eliminate the nation’s wine industry. As a matter of fact, she even goes so far as to call herself the “Wine Industry Slayer.” Ironically, the entirety of Mondstadt love the drinks she makes.

During her birthday this year, Diona admits in her message that she tried to concoct the “worst-tasting cocktail ever” by creating a powder out of Golden Loach Pearls and pouring it into the drink. However, she didn’t get the kind of reaction she wanted and the patrons loved the weird drink she made.

Along with the birthday message, Diona also gives you 10 Loach Pearls as well as her signature recipe called “Definitely Not Bar Food!” If you haven’t experienced cooking this dish yet, you can do so by preparing Mondstadt Grilled Fish with the beloved bartender.

When eating, Definitely Not Bar Food! restores about 10% of the maximum health of the character you’re using as well as an extra 150 HP. Sadly, this recipe doesn’t really offer a lot of benefits when compared to other foodstuffs in Genshin Impact.

On the other hand, Diona also offers you 10 Loach Pearls. As mentioned, these pearls aren’t really good for anything right now. They can usually be acquired when you catch Golden Loaches in the Liyue area, specifically near Dihua Marsh and Stone Gate.

Compared to other birthday messages from other characters which contain extremely useful items like Talent or Character Ascension Materials, Diona’s Loach Pearls can’t be used for any kind of crafting or for increasing the stats of your characters. But to be fair to Diona, though, Kaeya’s birthday message last year didn’t include Talent or Ascension Materials either.

Genshin Impact players have been speculating the purpose of these Loach Pearls, with theories stating that they may be used for something or for someone at some point in the future. After all, the idea that miHoYo just decided to give its players a useless item is something that’s hard to grasp.

If the pearls will be truly good for something soon, though, fans hope that it won’t be used for Ascension given how hard they are to obtain.

Ash Gets One of Strongest Pokemon From Sword and Shield In Pokemon Journeys

As with every new generation of Pokemon games, Pokemon Sword & Shield introduced a bunch of new monsters found in the Galar region for players to catch and train. And although Gen 7 didn’t introduce new fossil Pokemon for unknown reasons, Gen 8 both added new fossil Pokemon and gave fans an intriguing twist on the concept, allowing players to mix and match fossils to make 4 unique Pokemon – Arctovish, Dracovish, Arctozolt, and Dracozolt.

Another surprise the developers gave fans this year was a new take on the anime, with Pokemon Journeys having Ash and his friends wander to various regions from episode to episode as opposed to wasting the whole season in the newest region.

This has allowed Ash to assemble quite an impressive team of Pokemon so far, and now with the anime’s 50th episode recently airing in Japan, Pokemon Journeys has given Ash his 5th new Pokemon, the Galar fossil Pokemon Dracovish.

In the latest episode of Pokemon Journeys called “Galar Fossils! Stick ‘Em Together!,” Ash and his friends visit the Galar region again, where they meet two researchers, including Cara Liss, who shows up as a clumsy scientist in Pokemon Sword and Shield.

Pandemonium happens when the group starts to combine fossils, and while Ash’s partner Goh catches a Boldore, the pair are given their own fossil Pokemon, with Goh getting an Arctozolt while Ash notably getting a Dracovish.

While Ash was anticipated to acquire at least one more Pokemon in the anime to gain a complete team, Dracovish is a significant addition for various reasons. Dracovish marks the first fossil Pokemon Ash has officially obtained, and the new Pokemon is also Ash’s first Pokemon originally found in the Galar region, not considering his Galarian Farfetch’d.

On Twitter, user ThePokeRaf pointed out that Ash getting a Dracovish has marked the longest gap between the beginning of a new series of the Pokemon anime and Ash acquiring a Pokemon from the latest generation as well. In addition, it just so occurs that Dracovish is one of the most popular and most powerful Pokemon in the competitive side of Pokemon Sword and Shield.

The Dragon and Water-type Pokemon has a lot of factors that make it in the current meta such as it is only weak to Fairy and Dragon-type attacks while resistant to many others. In addition, the Pokemon’s Strong Jaw ability powers up bite attacks such as Crunch as well as its signature move, Fishous Rend which also doubles its power when Dracovish moves before its enemies.

‘Leaked’ Release Date for Rainbow Six Quarantine is Incorrect, According to Ubisoft

Recently, there was a leak that circulated which claimed that Ubisoft’s Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Quarantine was going to be released in March 2021. However, Ubisoft has refuted this by stating that the upcoming tactical shooter won’t be released any time soon.

This particular leak was discovered on a Ubisoft Connect page, which listed March 2021 as the game’s launch date. Sadly, this listing seems to be a mistake. The upcoming co-op title was announced by developer and publisher Ubisoft back in 2019, and it was supposed to be released in early 2020.

However, like many titles last year, the developer had to keep delaying its release. Now, Rainbow Six Quarantine’s earliest expected release window is some time in late 2021. So when fans found out that the game might be released earlier than expected, they were naturally thrilled.

Unfortunately, a Ubisoft representative was quick to quell those expectations, as they told IGN that the date on Ubisoft Connect’s listing was inaccurate. Ubisoft expects that Rainbow Six Quarantine will most likely have a release window within the 2021-2022 fiscal year. In other words, the game could be launched some time between April 2021 and March 2022.

With the upcoming title having been showcased during E3 2019, it’s actually been quite a while since Ubisoft shared a major progress update to the patient fans.

In case you don’t know, Rainbow Six Quarantine is a spinoff of Rainbow Six Siege’s Outbreak mode. As such, the upcoming title will play similarly to Outbreak in that players will be sectioned off into three-person squads in an effort to stop an alien pathogen from spreading.

Now, you may think that alien or zombie modes in video games are common and, at this point, overrated. However, what makes Rainbow Six Siege’s Outbreak different is the fact that the game heavily emphasizes on teamwork, utilizing environments that could cause damage, as well as precision shooting.

Outbreak was set in Truth or Consequences, a small town in New Mexico. After a Soviet probe crash-lands within the area, an extraterrestrial virus got loose and, as you can imagine, caused all kinds of havoc.

Rainbow Six Siege’s Outbreak became an incredibly popular mode to players, which led Ubisoft to quickly work on a spinoff—only this time, it was going to be a full game instead of a mere game mode. Given its background, we assume that Rainbow Six Quarantine is going to be set in the same place during the same plague.

From what we can infer from the E3 2019 trailer, Rainbow Six Quarantine will most likely feature the same playable operators from Siege, so previous fans probably won’t have to spend a long time trying to master the familiar characters.

Ubisoft previously revealed that it plans on launching the game on last-generation consoles first. However, the company hasn’t revealed much else about this aside from that. Given the lack of updates at this point in the game’s development, though, many fans are understandably worried. In fact, some have begun asking if the game has been canceled or not.

The developer and publisher has already pushed back Rainbow Six Quarantine’s release date twice. Ironically, the second reason for its delay in 2020 was due to the coronavirus pandemic.

For now though, all we can do is wait for Ubisoft to reveal any tidbit of information regarding the upcoming title. We’re sure that once it’s ready, waves upon waves of information will be revealed.

Capcom Cup 2020 Canceled Due To COVID-19

When it comes to competitive gaming, tournaments are the backbone of the genre. During the past year, a lot of tournaments made modifications because of the ramifications of the coronavirus pandemic.

As the year begins, however, safety provisions will likely persist as planned tournaments and events are forced to adjust to an online presence. One of the biggest markets affected by the global pandemic is fighting games.

The fighting game scene is usually a social one, uniting players across the globe in competition. Throughout the past year, however, a few large scale yearly fighting game tournaments across the United States, including CEO and Combo Breaker, were canceled or switched to an online-only format.

In the past, yearly fighting game tournaments such as Arc System Works’ Arc World Tour and Bandai Namco’s Tekken World Tour, boasted on hosting multiple qualifiers across the world. These leagues were also limited to online events, with Capcom’s own tournament suffering the same fate.

The Capcom Pro Tour was originally delayed because of the concern of the pandemic’s effect on offline play. During the summer, the Capcom Pro Tour launched things off with a few online qualifiers. The climax, Capcom Cup 2020, was set to take place on February 19 to 21 in the Dominican Republic.

However, a month after the reveal, Capcom released an official press release stating that the Capcom Cup finals will be canceled due to rising COVID-19 cases. The event will shift to a two-day online season final and is scheduled to take place on February 20 and 21.

One of the main criticisms about online gameplay in fighting games is the unstable netcode. To put things in perspective, the difference between losing and winning a game is left to player skill in an offline setting. However, during online play, there are far too many factors that leave things to chance.

Dropping frame rates, throttling speeds, and lag spikes are just a few of the major discrepancies that might disturb the flow of gameplay on both parties. Most of the time, it’s enough to drop game-winning sequences altogether.

As fighting games are now played online a lot more these days because of the global pandemic, a few fighting games have rallied towards embracing rollback netcode or enhancing the online experience altogether.

Titles like Guilty Gear XX: Accent Core Plus R and King of Fighters 2002 UM experienced record milestones in player count as a result. One of Tekken 7’s selling points for its Season Four launch was the promise of an improved netcode. The positive feedback following Season Four’s enhancement also reflected on its increased player count during the beginning of the season.

Retailers Are Already Selling Cyberpunk 2077 At Discounted Prices

Following the countless controversies surrounding CD Projekt RED and Cyberpunk 2077, the action-RPG is already being sold at discounted prices in different retail stores. It hasn’t been long since Cyberpunk 2077 was released—specifically, a little over a month has passed—yet the game can already be purchased for half its initial price.

As you may or may not know, the game didn’t have the kind of launch week that most of us expected. When Cyberpunk 2077 was finally released in December, after how many years of waiting, fans were disappointed to find that the game was riddled with a plethora of bugs—some of which were game-breaking.

Most of these issues came from the console versions, particularly the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game’s console versions performed so badly that many players requested full refunds. While many believe that Cyberpunk 2077 will get better once everything has been ironed out via hotfixes, Amazon, Best Buy, and other similar retailers have still chosen to greatly reduce the game’s price.

Those two aforementioned retailers, in particular, have reduced Cyberpunk 2077’s original $59.99 price to $29.99. Although, there are a few limitations when it comes to what appears to be a great deal. So far, none of these retailers are slashing the price of the game’s digital versions.

In other words, interested players who only own the digital version of either the PlayStation 5 or the Xbox Series X won’t be able to take advantage of this price drop, since these versions don’t have disk drives like the physical ones.

Not only that, owners of either PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, or standard PlayStation 5 consoles never got to experience a drop in price for Cyberpunk 2077. Plus, it’s worth mentioning that we don’t know how long these discounted prices will last, as it may not be permanent.

That being said, Amazon and Best Buy reduced the game’s price on their respective storefronts shortly after developer CD Projekt RED was once again heavily criticized in recent days. For more context, there was a recent report revealing that the footage used to promote the game during E3 2018 was not real or “faked.”

Within that same report lies another claim stating that CD Projekt RED wasn’t even done coding Cyberpunk 2077’s underlying gameplay systems during that time. As you can imagine, this caused another controversy to ensue.

To make matters worse, studio head Adam Badowski’s response to these reports seems to admit that at least some of the allegations surrounding the game were correct. In his response, Badowski says, “It’s hard for a trade show game demo not to be a test of vision or vertical slice two years before the game ships.” Although, he does dispute the claim that the footage used was fake.

In other Cyberpunk 2077 news, several CD Projekt RED employees actually didn’t think that the game would be ready for release in 2020. This assumption was based on Cyberpunk 2077’s development progress back in 2019. In fact, some staff members allegedly believed that the game wouldn’t be ready for consoles at least until 2022.

If these reports are true, then no wonder Cyberpunk 2077’s release in December 2020 didn’t go as well as we had all hoped. With CD Projekt RED facing several controversies—even a lawsuit—industry analysts are beginning to think that the studio might be bought out at some point in the future.

UK Man Receive Fine for Breaking Lockdown Rules to Play Pokemon Go

As all of us are aware, the world has been greatly impacted by the coronavirus pandemic and as such, most countries are currently under lockdown in an effort to stop the virus from spreading. The lockdown restrictions request that individuals refrain from having social gatherings and, as much as possible, to not leave their homes unless it’s absolutely necessary.

So yes, going outside just to play Niantic’s AR mobile game Pokemon Go is an absolute no-no under these restrictions. However, it appears that not everyone understands the severity of the situation and continues to leave their house despite lockdown rules. As a matter of fact, one man from the UK was recently fined for breaking said rules just to play Pokemon Go.

According to BBC News, a man traveled 14 miles (from Bedworth to Kenilworth) to look for Pokemon to add to his Pokemon Go collection. He basically admitted this fact to Warwickshire Police and was given a £200 fine (this would be around $270 if converted) for breaking the lockdown rules.

On behalf of the police, a spokeswoman told BBC, “We would like to remind people they must not leave or be outside their home unless they have a reasonable excuse.” Surprisingly, some people still think that traveling several miles to play Pokemon Go is an acceptable reason—it’s not.

In fact, this actually isn’t the first time that an individual broke lockdown regulations for Pokemon Go. Back in 2020, an Italian man and his daughter were stopped by the police after they were caught outside trying to catch Pokemon. According to the man, he needed to “hunt the Pokemon.” Of course, he was reportedly charged for his actions, although it’s not clear what the Italian police charged him with exactly.

While the recent fines and legal issues revolving around Pokemon Go have been caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and its consequent lockdown regulations, Pokemon Go players used to get in trouble for different reasons in the past, especially when the mobile game was first released.

At the peak of its popularity, it wasn’t surprising to hear stories or news report about Pokemon Go players sneaking into private property in an effort to look for and catch Pokemon. Not only that, there were several instances as well when Pokemon Go players would try to catch Pokemon while driving or crossing the street, which led to lethal consequences for some.

To be fair to Pokemon Go’s developer, Niantic has always had warning messages that requested fans to play the game as safely as possible. In fact, to adjust to the current global situation, Pokemon Go was even tweaked to make sure that fans can still enjoy the game amidst the lockdown. Although, some of these adjustments have long since been reverted.

Unfortunately, this hasn’t stopped some players from disobeying the rules. With the second variant of COVID-19 being discovered, which is potentially more dangerous than the first, we hope that this kind of unlawful behavior will soon come to an end.

Seeing as there are vaccines being distributed already, Pokemon Go players will definitely be able to go back to their usual Pokemon-catching routine at some point. For now though, it’s best to stay at home and stay safe!

Hitman 3 Releases Exhilarating Launch Trailer

At this point, it’s safe to say that this third and final entry in the Hitman franchise is turning out to be the biggest game by IO Interactive so far. Not only will it introduce six brand-new maps for players to explore, but Hitman 3 more or less acts like a hub where long-time fans can find content from the previous titles.

Since Hitman 3’s release date is almost upon us—January 20—fans have been dying to find out what the developer has been working on for the last 2 years since it released the second Hitman game. Fortunately, the studio just dropped a new launch trailer in celebration of the upcoming release, and it gives fans a good idea of what to expect.

The launch trailer highlights Agent 47, as he brutally kills off various targets. Asides from the gripping action, the trailer also showcases the latest venture of the iconic assassin, with several scenes featuring familiar characters who were initially introduced in past titles.

With a dramatic song in the background that would fit right in a James Bond movie, the launch trailer begins by showing off different locations that players will be able to visit in Hitman 3, such as the Mendoza map and its vineyards, the classic English manor of Dartmoor, and a nightclub in Berlin.

Of course, given as it’s a Hitman game, there will be more to these different levels than just set dressing. For instance, there are scenes in the trailer where Agent 47 goes in for the kill with the help of his environment. There’s one part where he basically drowns one of his targets in a toilet, while another scene shows the assassin shoving a guard off a balcony terrace.

As for its narrative, it appears that Hitman 3 will continue the plot that was set out in the previous title. For this third iteration, Agent 47 forms a partnership with Lucas Grey, his former enemy. The launch trailer showcases the duo teaming up on different missions—one scene even features both of them base jumping right into the Dubai hotel, which is an area that has been shown multiple times via the different previews for the upcoming game.

On the other hand, a staple character from the previous titles will also be present in Hitman 3. More specifically, one scene has Agent 47 seemingly searching for Diana, who is one of the “handlers” at the Agency. From what we can tell, Diana will most likely show up in person during the Mendoza segment of Hitman 3, as there’s a scene in the trailer where she’s at a balcony looking over the beautiful vineyard.

Overall, it’s clear to see that IO Interactive is working on its biggest title yet. Although, the upcoming release of Hitman 3 is bittersweet, as it probably won’t be awhile until fans will see Agent 47 in action again. As soon as the development for Hitman 3 officially ends, the studio will immediately start working on a brand-new James Bond game called Project 007. As such, this will probably take up all of the studio’s time and effort.

Apex Legends Officially Reveals Newest Legend for Season 8

Apex Legends recently released the newest chapter in the franchise’s Stories From the Outlands short film series, which confirms what many leaks have been saying: one of Salvo’s experts will be the next Legend to join the game’s roster of playable characters. He’s expected to officially appear in-game once Apex Legends Season 8 launches this February 2.

Like the other short films introducing new characters, Fuse’s “Good as Gold” cinematic reveals his backstory, highlighting his past with not only explosives, but his best friend who calls him “Wally.” Fuse and his best friend were both Salvo freedom fighters during their youth so that they could get away from the Syndicate—this is basically who organizes the Apex Games.

The duo had been through so much together, as they heedlessly blew up government oppressors while jamming to 80s rock. However, as time passed, their once incorruptible friendship began to break slowly until it eventually came crashing down.

At that point, Fuse spent more time participating in Salvo’s fighting pits rather than with his best friend doing the usual skirmishes. The breaking point of the pair’s friendship came when Salvo announced that it would join the Syndicate and that Fuse would participate in the Apex Games.

Fuse and his best friend had an argument, which resulted in Fuse losing an arm due to his former partner-in-crime throwing a grenade in fury.

Once Fuse officially joins Apex Legends, he will be tagged as the 16th Legend to join Respawn Entertainment’s first-person battle royale. What makes him so distinguishable from the rest is the fact that Fuse utilizes explosive munitions—makes sense, given his name.

While the four-minute “Good as Gold” cinematic trailer didn’t really expound on Fuse’s abilities, some dataminers have already dug up what could possibly be his ultimate and tactical abilities. A few days ago, dataminer SomeoneWhoLeaks shared a clip that showcases what they claim is Fuse’s ultimate ability called The Motherlode.

From what we can see from the clip, the ability has Fuse shooting out a bomb that not only deals about 70 damage upon explosion, but it also leaves behind a ring of fire that will go away over time. This ring of fire, however, can inflict 60 additional damage if enemy players are exposed to it for too long.

Asides from The Motherlode, Fuse allegedly has a tactical ability called Airburst Grenade. After what happened at the end of his dedicated cinematic trailer, Fuse will be joining Apex Legends with a robotic right arm. Now, according to animation files that have been leaked in the past, this robotic arm appears to be rigged with what looks like a grenade launcher.

That being said, Respawn Entertainment has also announced another addition to the game alongside the Salvo rebel. The 30-30 Repeater, which is Fuse’s most popular weapon of choice, is going to be available in-game as the first lever-action rifle.

Among other things, Apex Legends Season 8 will also offer over 100 new items for the upcoming Mayhem Battle Pass. Also, as previously announced, King’s Canyon has finally returned to the map rotation for a limited time only, but Apex Legends’ first map will be receiving a couple of changes in order to accommodate Fuse and his explosive entrance to the world of Apex Legends.

All Characters in Pokemon UNITE Will Receive Costumes – Leak

Not much has been announced about Pokemon’s forthcoming MOBA game Pokemon UNITE, but beta testers have leaked that the game’s playable characters will have costumes they can wear in battle which will be purchasable in the in-game store. Classic free-to-play MOBAs offer players in-game costumes at a price, which accounts for the majority of the game’s profit, and it looks like Pokemon UNITE will not be an exception to this stereotype.

Pokemon UNITE was announced back in June 2020 and was not well received by fans of the series. This was partly because of The Pokemon Company holding two separate Pokemon Direct announcement videos early in the morning, the second of the videos was exclusively centered on Pokemon UNITE.

The first Pokemon Direct concluded by hinting at a bigger announcement for the following morning’s update, many of which were expecting for the revelation of the Sinnoh remakes. Rather, Pokemon fans were with what appeared to be a generic MOBA game featuring some of the series’ most beloved Pokemon.

According to Pokekalos, a French Pokemon news site, Pokemon UNITE has started its second phase of beta testing in China. This second phase has unveiled that Scorbunny will be another playable character, but more essentially, every Pokemon can wear a collection of charming costumes.

Photos of these costumes were leaked as well including a Lucario costume inspired by the movie Pokemon: Lucario and the Mystery of Mew. Other cosmetics may not have as deep a meaning as Lucario’s but they add a stylish flair to the character’s overall look.

Other leaks from the news outlet have revealed additional gameplay as well as currency systems that were not revealed yet. More Pokemon have also been confirmed to be playable such as Crustle and Cramorant.

Pokemon will also be able to equip various items with unique effects and abilities the same as other MOBAs. Similar to other mobile games, Pokemon UNITE will offer players with daily log-in freebies including currency, character trials, and costumes for their Pokemon.

Regardless of the disappointment that Pokemon UNITE’s initial reveal may have been, it appears to have the capability to be well received once the game is officially launched. Sure, Pokemon hasn’t originally delved into the MOBA genre, but Pokemon UNITE appears that it could perform well.

In addition, every Pokemon fan will love dressing up their Pikachu in a snapback and a hoodie while battling enemy players.

New Scorestreaks Coming To Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War

Call of Duty Blacks Ops Cold War Zombies is seeing major additions soon such as a few extra scorestreaks to use against the undead. The scorestreaks in question should appear familiar to fans of the multiplayer mode of Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War, though, as these are a few of the more famous mid-tier scorestreaks.

While Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War’s buggy VTOL scorestreak is staying in the multiplayer, both Napalm Strike and the Artillery will be joining the fan-favorite zombie survival mode. Napalm Strikes will set zombies on fire, though it is unsure if the fiery carpet bomb will hurt players as well.

Both Napalm Strikes and Artillery will be accessible through the game mode’s crafting table. Similar to the recently added cruise missile, the scorestreaks should be effective, and they may come with the additional advantage of allowing players to go invulnerable while summoning them.

With the Chopper Gunner and Cruise Missile currently having this advantageous feature, allowing players to hold onto an extra “get out of jail free card” if they find themselves cornered, these new scorestreaks could become really helpful in zombies mode.

With Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War Zombies’ new scorestreaks able to be added smoothly to the crafting table, fans should be able to access both Napalm Strike and Artillery on the forthcoming Firebase Z map and Die Maschine. The updated version of Call of Duty Black Ops 2’s perk Tombstone will also be added into the game on February 4, providing players a few new mechanics to try out.

The new perk and scorestreaks will also be joined by the new Call of Duty Zombies intel, as the post confirms that fans will locate a lot of “audio logs, documents, radio communications, Dark Aether dispatches, and artifacts” in the new map, Firebase Z.
