Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Announces Christmas Day Villains Only Tournament

Nintendo has recently announced a special tournament in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for Christmas Day. Spearheaded by the newest DLC fighter Sephiroth, the “Dark Reunion” tournament will run from December 25 through December 28, 2020. The catch is that only those playable characters who welcome the darkness can participate.

One of the reasons why Super Smash Bros. Ultimate still remains relevant to this day is its variety of online tournaments which usually follow a theme to keep things interesting. For instance, Nintendo announced an Online Open tournament a few months ago that lasted for a month, just as the stay-at-home lockdowns due to the coronavirus were underway.

There was also a Mushroom Tournament in the past, which featured power-ups from titles such as Earthbound and, of course, Super Mario Bros. Another tournament in the past had a lightweight theme, which only allowed the fluffy and light playable characters.

This time around, the Dark Reunion tournament will focus on villainous fighters, perfect for celebrating the release of Final Fantasy 7’s Sephiroth.

The early Smash Bros. games didn’t feature a lot of villains, but this has slowly changed with each newer version that got launched. Now, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate players can choose from over 70 playable fighters, with the company stating that more will be added in the future.

Given the sheer number of characters in the game, it doesn’t come as a surprise that fans also have a lot of options when it comes to villains. As such, those who participate in the upcoming tournament will have plenty of fighters to choose from.

That being said, the Dark Reunion tournament seems like the perfect opportunity to test out the latest fighter Sephiroth and see how well he does at a competitive level. Other fan-favorite antagonists will also be present, including Meta Knight, Dark Pit, King Dede, Bowser, and Dark Samus.

While Nintendo’s decision to add Sephiroth to the franchise should have been more obvious given the fact that Cloud was introduced in Smash 4, it still came as a pleasant surprise when the Final Fantasy 7 antagonist was announced for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Many fans were undoubtedly excited, with some even clearing the Sephiroth Challenge as fast as possible to unlock him early. On the other hand, other players were saddened by the fact that his addition meant that the possibility of Geno as a DLC fighter would no longer be a reality.

That being said, it remains to be seen if Sephiroth will seamlessly squeeze right into the already-established meta, or if his addition will change some things. He may be capable of swift ranged attacks thanks to his long sword, but his height makes him prone to getting hit easier. We’re definitely looking forward to seeing how fans utilize Sephiroth’s strengths and weaknesses during the upcoming Dark Reunion tournament.

With the release of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s 10.1.0 patch, many of the fighters received buffs that could potentially help them survive longer in a competitive match.

We expect that the upcoming competition will have a massive turnout, especially since doing well in in-game tournaments earns players spirit rewards which can be used to purchase a variety of items in the World of Lights Shop.

LEAK: Prince of Persia Sands of Time May Have Switch Version

The Prince of Persia series, in general, is pretty well-known, but arguably the most popular game in the franchise is probably Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. As such, it doesn’t come as a surprise when countless fans were overjoyed at the news of its remake.

Even though the remake was initially only announced for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, a leak from Ubisoft itself has revealed that the game may be getting a Nintendo Switch version as well. Developer and publisher Ubisoft has been notoriously leaking valuable information about games lately, with Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time being one of them.

Fans were able to gather quite a bit of information just by checking out the Ubisoft store pages, especially when it comes to Nintendo Switch versions. The information was discovered by Reddit user NayamAmarshe, who was quick to post their findings on the GamingLeaksAndRumors subreddit.

They shared a screenshot and a link to Ubisoft’s Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time store page as proof. At the time of writing, Ubisoft still hasn’t updated or changed the page, and the Switch option is still available.

As you can see, the game’s page has the “Switch” option available on the list of platforms for those who want to preorder Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. It’s worth mentioning that if you do choose the Switch option, the page removes the “Add to Cart” button available on the other platforms and changes it to a simple “Sold Out,” along with the words “Out of Stock” above it.

However, the fact that it’s not available now doesn’t cancel out the possibility of the game getting released on Switch in the future. Ubisoft hasn’t addressed this leak just yet to either confirm or deny its verity, but leaks by the company were proven to be accurate in the past, so fans have a good feeling about this one.

Along with the fact that other retailers have also created a listing for the alleged Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Nintendo Switch version a few months ago, this leak is undeniably becoming even more credible.

Even though there’s overwhelming evidence that leads to the game possibly receiving a Switch version, all this information should still be taken with a pinch of salt, especially since Ubisoft hasn’t officially announced this yet. Plus, so many things could still happen between now and the game’s official release.

For one thing, there’s a chance that a simple technical error may have caused the Switch option to appear in the list of platforms even though a Switch version isn’t actually available or planned. Another possibility is that a Switch edition for Prince of Persia: Sands of Time is truly in the works, but it won’t be released at the same time as the others. At this point, it’s anyone’s guess and we’ll just have to wait and see how this plays out.

That being said, we’re definitely crossing our fingers that this leak is true, especially since a Switch version of the game would be extremely convenient given how handy and portable the Nintendo Switch is. It may not be as powerful as the other platforms, but this fact alone will most likely keep the console relevant for a long time — at least until a newer, more enhanced version gets released.

Pokemon Go trainers are wrapping up a very impressive month as the first events of the Season of Celebration festivities come to an end, but things aren’t slowing down for January 2021. In addition to an exciting New Year event, fans are also in for a treat thanks to new and returning Mega Raid and Legendary bosses.

Similar to the events for December 2020, the Battle Raid Lineup for January 2021 looks to include constant improvements and several bosses coming and going after just several days. Blizzard Offers Overwatch As Free To Play Until January 4

Overwatch, one of Blizzard’s famous online multiplayer titles, will be free to play until next year, January 4. In spite of being launched way back in 2016, the game has been inside gaming news a bit lately. It even got a surprise new map just a few weeks ago. The new map, called Kanezaka, is located just below the current Hanamura map. The game’s director, Jeff Kaplan, stated that fans can even look up and see Hanamura’s castle. Aside from this, there are supposedly some easter eggs associated with Overwatch 2 hiding in the new map.

On top of this, there has been a healthy number of conjectures surrounding its much-awaited sequel, Overwatch 2. It was originally announced during last year’s BlizzCon, and not much information was revealed since the event.

In the same trailer in which Kanezaka was revealed, Kaplan stated he understands that there has been a scarcity of Overwatch 2 update. However, he also mentioned that players will learn more about the upcoming game in February’s BlizzCon 2021.

Meanwhile, Overwatch is going to be offered as a free to play title until January 4, 2021, as a free trial. Gamers who want to try the game can play as much Overwatch as they want totally free of charge until the aforementioned January deadline.

In addition, the game is also on sale on the official website of Blizzard at 25% off. It was originally $20, but now fans can buy it for just $15. Overwatch: Legendary Edition is also on sale on the same website, but for an even larger discount at 50% off. It was initially sold at $40, but now players can buy it for $20.

GTA Online Introduces DJ Missions In New Update

In an interview with beatportal, Rockstar Games’ Music Director Ivan Pavlovich touts that these real-world performers who have become GTA Online NPCs are “not tacked-on in any way,” as they have also been integrated into the new update’s storyline.

Since these new characters play a crucial role, Rockstar Games has introduced brand-new DJ Missions for players to complete. Doing these missions will supposedly help the new artists settle into the game, and in fact, players should be able to start doing these missions by now.

According to Pavlovich, Rockstar Games decided to add The Music Locker in an effort to create a safe space where players can relax and escape from the troubling reality brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Asides from the official opening of The Music Locker though, GTA Online now has two new radio stations for players to tune into. One of the new stations aims to make Joy Orbison’s pirate station more popular, while the other one streams the live sets from The Music Locker itself.

Among other things, the Newswire that details all the new content that arrived in GTA Online also mentioned two new vehicles that players can acquire, namely the Dinka Veto Modern and the Grotti Itali RSX sports car.

In addition to that, players can also enjoy several bonuses that came with the Cayo Perico Heist update, as well as discounts.

With all that said, it definitely makes sense now why Rockstar Games touted this to be the biggest musical update so far in the history of GTA Online.

CryoSpace Is A Sci-Fi Horror Title Set To Release In 2022

Developed by Kuklam Studios and to be published by Games Operators, Cryospace is a sci-fi horror PC game that’s set to launch some time in 2022. The title may still be in the works right now, but several screenshots, videos, and other details about it have already been revealed.

Cryospace follows the story of a regular maintenance guy who just happened to get involved in a series of bizarre events. Seeing as he’s an ordinary person, the main protagonist doesn’t have the skills and capabilities of a soldier or a fighter, yet he has no choice but to run and fight for his life.

Waking up from cryo-sleep inside a spaceship that’s floating around in the middle of nowhere, the protagonist is the only one who can help the other frozen crew members wake up and survive. Just because he’s the only one who was able to wake up on his own doesn’t mean he’ll remain alive forever though.

Before he gets to save others, however, the protagonist needs to save himself first by finding a way out of the cryo-tube and then look for both food and oxygen to stay alive. Since he’s the only one who can help, he’s tasked with the heavy responsibility of saving the rest of the crew from either death or eternal cryo-sleep.

The thing is, the spaceship they’re on isn’t anywhere near other planets, celestial bodies, or even other spaceships. However, it appears that strange alien creatures are on board the ship with them, lurking in the shadows.

Once the protagonist gets to awaken the other members though, they can start to form a colony or group of survivors on board the ship. The rest of the crewmates consist of a variety of people, including soldiers, other workers, and even colonizers whose goal is to populate undiscovered or far away planets.

That being said, the formed colony of survivors will have to work and fight together for everyone’s sake. However, one problem is that oxygen and food supplies are limited and won’t be enough if the protagonist wakes every member. As such, players have to decide which crew member is useful to the protagonist, while the ones that aren’t as useful can be put back to cryosleep — at least until their situation becomes better.

The ship itself is full of life-threatening dangers such as traps that the protagonist needs to look out for as well as the alien lifeforms. On the bright side, players can acquire debris and scraps and then utilize them to create new structures that will greatly improve their defenses.

Another vital element of Cryospace’s gameplay is fighting off the alien creatures that found their way inside the spaceship. As the protagonist continues his exploration through the ship, players will learn more about the events that took place that led them to where they are now. KFC Announces Its Own Gaming Console With Built-In Chicken Warmer

With every year that passes, there’s never a time when we aren’t in complete awe of how far technology has come. It appears that technology will continue growing and changing, reaching heights that have never been reached before.

This time around, we are once again stunned as KFC, the fast-food chain, has revealed the very first gaming console that has a built-in chicken warmer. Yes, you read that right. The KFConsole, which is powered by Intel, is a bold invention that gives us a glimpse of what the future holds for gamers all over the world.

Gone are the days when we have to decide if we want to keep playing video games or eat some delicious, warm chicken. It’s quite obvious that this invention should’ve come sooner! That said, while the KFConsole is basically just a marketing stunt, Intel’s claim that it’s a real product that truly works is unwavering.

This sensational creation was revealed on Twitter by one of Intel’s PR staff, Mark Walton. The company responsible for the one-of-a-kind hardware is Cooler Master, which is mostly known for specializing in the creation of PC cooling systems that are high in quality.

Most of the time, Cooler Master’s products are made to disperse or mop up heat. However, it appears that the company was able to find a way to turn that heat into something useful. Although, “useful” may be too strong of a word to describe this. Still, Cooler Master was able to utilize it in a unique and amusing way.

From what we can see on the KFConsole website, it appears that Cooler Master didn’t simply shove an oven inside the device. The hardware was designed in collaboration with TimePlay, a Swedish hardware modder, and it appears that KFConsole takes the heat from the CPU and then redirects it into the integrated chicken warmer.

It’s incredibly well-thought-out, as it even has its own specs. The KFConsole utilizes the Intel Nuc 9 Extreme Compute Element. These were created by Intel for the purpose of being installed inside a gaming PC, but the Nuc 9 mini-PCs as a standalone product is a real thing and are known to be incredibly powerful.

As a matter of fact, Intel’s “Ghost Canyon” Nuc 9 performs similarly to many high-end gaming laptops, and that’s no small feat. In addition to the hardware already built in the Nuc 9 are two Seagate BarraCuda 1TB SSD cards as well as a GPU that’s swappable, although it’s an unspecified ASUS one.

The announcement of the KFConsole may be incredibly amusing to many, but if it were truly to be launched as an actual console you can purchase and get delivered to your home, then it would most likely be capable of running most modern AAA games.

In addition to all these incredible features, the console also has a heated chamber where you can keep your fried chicken nice and warm to be eaten at a later time. Steam’s Winter Sale 2020 Has Officially Launched

Since 2020 is nearing its conclusion, Valve’s digital storefront Steam has finally started its Winter Sale and is now allowing users to start casting their votes for the annual Steam Awards. Just like all the other seasonal deals such as the Autumn Sale from a few months ago, the Steam Winter Sale offers incredible discounts on a multitude of games.

This year has seen Steam breaking records, as the total number of nomination votes from this year’s Autumn Sale exceeded the ones from the previous years. Steam has chosen over forty games for players to vote on, divided across ten different categories.

If you decide to participate in this year’s Steam Awards and cast your vote, you will be given a Winter Sale trading card for every vote you make. It may not be much, but those who enjoy collecting Steam’s trading cards will most likely be pleased by this as they can increase their collection.

This year’s Steam Winter Sale will run from December 22, 2020, through January 5, 2021 (10 AM PST). The ability to vote for the Steam Awards, however, will only run until January 3, 2021 (9 AM PST). The winners will be revealed thereafter.

Ghost of Tsushima has been voted as Famitsu’s Game of the Year by Japanese celebrities and developers, making it the publication’s first North American title to win the prestigious award. Sucker Punch Studio’s Feudal Japan-set action game released just a few months ago, instantly getting acclaim from Wester players and critics alike. It made quite a blast in Japan, too, where it continues to be welcomed with open arms.

As a PlayStation exclusive title with a one of a kind setting and art style, the open-world adventure sold like hot cakes in western regions, breaking PlayStation 4 sales records. Intriguingly, Ghost of Tsushima likewise didn’t fail to move the needle in Japan.

Each year, Famitsu magazine holds a games survey among Japanese celebrities and developers. This year’s results from the voting came in to unveil that Ghost of Tsushima won the top honor by getting voted as 2020’s Game of the Year.

Seeing Ghost of Tsushima receive awards is great. On top of basically giving Assassin’s Creed fans the Feudal Japan-based experience they have been patiently waiting for, it counts among high-quality games to discover the time period in impressive detail.

It is certain to witness the project served as a labor of love from Sucker Punch, too. From the black and white Kurosawa mode and innovative Photo Mode choices to the free post-release multiplayer content and its lack of microtransactions, Ghost of Tsushima appears to be a breath of fresh air.
