Upcoming Horror Game ‘Saturnalia’ Reveals New Trailer and Release Date

Developer Santa Ragione and publisher Quantum Astrophysicists Guild recently revealed via a new trailer that the survival horror game Saturnalia will be released some time in 2021. Along with this announcement, it has also been confirmed that the upcoming title will be exclusively released on the Epic Games Store.

Saturnalia was initially announced in October of last year with a short yet intriguing teaser. Not a lot of information has been revealed by the developer since then, that is until the recent release of the new announcement trailer. Interested players now have new intriguing footage to chew on at least until the game’s release next year.

From what we know so far, Saturnalia is a survival horror adventure that takes place on December 21, 1989 — the day of Saturnalia, which is “the most popular holiday on the ancient Roman calendar.”

You won’t be controlling just one character in this game, though. According to Santa Ragione, you will get to “play as a cast of characters exploring an isolated village of ancient ritual.” In other words, you will be given the opportunity to play each different character until every single one of them dies.

Each character represents one life, and once all the characters get killed off, you will be able to restart the game and play again. There’s an interesting catch, though: the structure of the village will be completely different every time you begin a new game, which means that you will be provided with a brand-new experience.

The description of the recently-released gameplay trailer introduces the village of Gravoi, which seems to be the first time that the village’s name was mentioned. Among other things, the trailer also showcases the perspective and actions of the different characters you get to play as in the game, as each one tries to go through the streets and alleyways of the village with simply a flashlight or the light of a match.

The trailer description states that Saturnalia is about investigating “the lives of ordinary citizens determined to embrace the old ways – or defy them.” As such, you are tasked to explore the village in an effort to look for answers and “discover haunting secrets.”

Asides from Saturnalia’s unique visuals, the most disturbing part about the new trailer is arguably its narration. You can hear a feminine voice speaking in the background talking about the village of Gravoi and the holiday of Saturnalia as if reading through the notes of a tour guide.

As the trailer continues, the background music also increases in tempo as the narrator’s questions match the confusion conveyed by the characters running through the village’s streets and narrow corridors.

If you’re the type of gamer who enjoys the thrilling rush that survival horror games provide, then Saturnalia may just be a game you’ll enjoy. You can keep tabs on the game by checking its official website.

Saturnalia is set to release on PC in 2021 via the Epic Games Store. Santa Ragione and Quantum Astrophysicists Guild have yet to announce when the game will be released on other platforms.

Cyberpunk 2077 Sales Reach 13 Million Despite Turbulent Launch

According to a new announcement by CD Projekt Red, it appears that Cyberpunk 2077 was able to sell 13 million copies despite the fact that the game’s launch and the title itself were right in the middle of widespread controversies.

The long-awaited action-RPG by developer CD Projekt Red was officially launched last December 10 after receiving multiple delays in the past. Its launch wasn’t as smooth-sailing as everyone wanted or expected, however, as players were extremely disappointed by Cyberpunk 2077′s performance, especially on the consoles.

Some were able to find humor within the countless bugs and glitches currently present in the game, but many players went ahead and asked for a full refund from the storefronts where they bought the title. Despite this though, it appears that the game is still going strong in terms of sales.

cyberpunk2077_what_can_i_get_you_rgb-en-9247873

In a recent report, CD Projekt Red reveals that Cyberpunk 2077’s digital and retail sales, when combined, both reached 13 million across the different platforms. In addition, the developer also confirmed that this amount already factored in all the refunds according to the submissions received from physical and digital stores.

The only refunds not accounted for are the retail copies that developer CD Projekt Red will be refunding directly. The developer’s management team noted in the report that the information was disclosed in an attempt to contain the effect that all the unfavorable reviews may have had on Cyberpunk 2077’s investors.

While it may seem that the game still did well in terms of sales despite all the negative feedback, CD Projekt Red still has reason to worry. According to a report by VGC, the game’s investors are allegedly considering a class-action lawsuit against the developer for “misrepresentation in order to receive financial benefits.”

In other words, CD Projekt Red supposedly went against an SEC rule that states that it is against the law to trick a person or a group of people when it comes to security transactions. To put it simply, investors want their money back due to how badly the game has performed.

cyberpunk2077_what_you_lookin_at_rgb-en-1665336

To make things worse for the company, CD Projekt Red’s own staff is reportedly in disarray. Many of the employees who worked on Cyberpunk 2077 have been vocally upset with the company for how things turned out, along with frustrations regarding unrealistic deadlines and mandatory crunch times just so that the game gets released on time.

On top of that, a sizeable number of console players are upset with the company, especially after CEO Adam Kaciński stated that Cyberpunk 2077’s performance on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One were “surprisingly good” about a week before the game’s official launch.

Despite all the negativities surrounding Cyberpunk 2077 since launch, CD Projekt Red assures players that it will work on improving the game and the experience it provides. As a matter of fact, a hotfix update has recently been rolled out, which will supposedly fix a variety of issues found on both PS4 and PC.

As such, players who don’t want to abandon the game just yet will have to wait for CD Projekt Red to release all the necessary updates that will slowly fix Cyberpunk 2077 and make it a better game.

GTA Online and Red Dead Online Players Can Expect Snow and Freebies This Holiday Season

Players of Grand Theft Auto Online and Red Dead Online, two popular online titles by Rockstar Games, can expect free gifts this holiday season along with snowfall, among other additions. Rockstar Games has been working hard for the past couple of months in an effort to release more content for the two games.

Red Dead Online players especially have been looking forward to new content, as the game had been experiencing a content drought for quite some time. Fortunately, the holiday/winter season is the perfect opportunity to add extra content for players to enjoy.

As for Grand Theft Auto Online, the game recently received a major update in the form of the Cayo Perico Heist, so it’s not particularly in need of new content. Still, new additions are always welcome. The sizeable update is considered to be the biggest one so far for GTA Online, as it introduces a brand-new nightclub called The Music Locker and new music that players can listen to.

Of course, the most exciting part about the update is the new luxurious private island known as “Cayo Perico.” Elite members of society may go there to have fun and party, but little do they know that the island isn’t as perfect as they may think.

On the other hand, Red Dead Online recently upgraded and expanded the Naturalist and Bounty Hunter roles available in the game. Among other things, the online experience now has Legendary Animals and brand-new bounties.

For this festive season, however, players of both online titles will be able to experience new content that has more of a holiday theme.

screenshot-twitter-com-2020-12-23-11_39_04

If players go ahead and sign onto their GTA Online account, they will find that San Andreas is completely covered in fresh snow. To make things even more immersive, even the local vendors and in-game establishments have festive decorations and are selling a variety of items that fit the holiday season.

According to the Rockstar Games Newswire, players can also check out Legion Square if they want to take a picture of the Christmas tree situated there, or perhaps take a quick look at the festive decorations that adorn the interiors of their in-game Penthouses.

In addition, players who have been wanting to get a new car should visit Southern San Andreas Super Autos so that they can acquire the Grotti Brioso 300 for free. Although, keep in mind that this offer is only available from December 22 through December 30, 2020.

Meanwhile, Red Dead Online fans will also earn free gifts this season. Similar to Grand Theft Auto Online, the vendors and streets of Saint Denis are adorned with holiday decorations. Traversing through the game won’t be as easy as before due to the heavy snowfall, but players who visit the Pause Menu’s Benefits Page will be able to obtain free items that will help them power through the chilling weather.

There’s more where that came from though, so check out the Red Dead Online Newswire for a more detailed list of the freebies and new content.

In other news, Rockstar Games launched a standalone version of Red Dead Online in early December. Given the exciting new content released for the game, we expect that the franchise will see a boost in playerbase, especially since the standalone edition will remain at $4.99 at least until February next year.

Apex Legends Fight Night Event Trailer And Skins Revealed

The upcoming Apex Legends event, Fight Night, is likely to come soon, as its debut trailer video is leaking all over the internet. The battle royale game from EA and Respawn Entertainment are currently in its seventh season and players are used to the usual cadence of new content and gameplay improvements.

Following the release of a new season, which typically comes with several map overhauls and a brand new character to grind or purchase, a few smaller events pop up to keep the game interesting. New to this season is a character called Horizon, a Scottish astronaut that can manipulate gravity and deploy a black hole generator as its ultimate ability.

The ultimate move has a similar effect to the Gravity Star, one of the tactical weapons in Respawn’s past Titanfall games. The arrival of Horizon and the start of Season 7 coincided with the triumphant release of Apex Legends on Steam, which brought in a great number of new players who didn’t want to deal with EA’s Origin client.

As leaked by Apex Legends eSports participant PWS_Corruption on its Twitter page, the trailer video for the upcoming Fight Night event is now available in its full form, albeit in Japanese. Intriguingly, there is also a hidden tweet in Japanese on the official feed of Apex Legends, which is probably a region-locked promotion that regardless confirms the leak.

No matter the language, the graphics are all intact, displaying amazing new looks for all of the heroes of the game. The standouts in the clip are new legendary skins for Revenant, Bangalore, Loba, as well as a Pathfinder outfit for Revenant that gives him the yellow fedora and suit most famously sported by newspaper comics character Dick Tracy.

All these skins will come to the game at the beginning of the event along with a new Town Takedown. These events are character-specific tasks that arrive on the map to provide fans more variety during gameplay as well as a peen into the lore of some of the legends in the game.

In this case, Fight Night will revolve around a friendly robot Pathfinder and a melee-only boxing ring that players will soon be able to use on the newly introduced Olympus map. This is just one in a myriad of Town Takeovers to happen, with past events unveiling new details on Crypto, Wraith, and Octane, among others.

While the Steam release of Apex Legends might have been clouded by one other big launch that was still on the horizon, the game is trying to have long legs in an overcrowded genre even as it nears the start of its third year.

With exciting new characters participating in the world at a new video and the variety of gameplay that genre fans fancy, it is probable that part of Respawn Entertainment will be developing on this battle royale for quite a while.

Among Us Had Half Billion Active Players In November Alone

Developer Innersloth’s popular hit Among Us has approximately half-billion active monthly players last November 2020 alone, with a report by SuperData emphasizing how that number helps perceive the title as one of the most famous games in the world.

Among Us was first launched in 2018, but took some time to catch on until it started garnering steam among Twitch streamers, with the live show catering to hundreds, then thousands of new fans who then tried the game for themselves, eventually getting recognized as the Best Multiplayer Game of 2020 during The Game Awards 2020.

Among Us might be known as a PC game to those who watch its consistently high profile streams on Twitch, some of which, in the past have even been played by North American politicians – but its mobile player base has been considerably bigger.

840_560-3480937

That’s set to change once again as the game just released on the Nintendo Switch a few days ago and could see the needle move on the game’s gaming community shares slightly. While Among Us on the Switch is unlikely to significantly change the relationship between the mobile port of the game and its other available platforms, it does appear set to witness the game’s total player base increase even more than it already has.

A SuperData report helped emphasize just how famous Among Us already is, even before its release on the Nintendo Switch. The report states that approximately half-billion players were recorded for the game last month alone, making it what the company calls “the most popular game ever in terms of monthly players.”

The report also pointed out that, while the Among Us PC version contributed the most of the developer’s revenue with 64% share of profits generated, the actual player count on the PC for a mere 3% of Among Us’ total players.

e2aa1-16045983673056-800-7992646

Among Us still remains a famous option thanks to its accessibility, both in terms of price and platform. The game’s decent price tag of just $5 makes it easy to give it a try, and now that it’s on the Nintendo Switch, there are enough choices to reach most household demographics multiple times over.

Beyond these facts, though, Among Us, has also witnessed sustained reputation due to its simple premise – it is a game that is deep enough to appeal to competitive players but easy enough on its most basic level by almost anyone.

While it isn’t surprising to hear that Among Us is famous, it is a bit amazing to realize that almost half-billion active players engaged in the game last month alone.

Pokemon is an entertainment franchise that is adored and popular all over the world. The franchise has crossed generational and global borders, so much so that one player unexpectedly helped name his nephew Zacian, after the legendary sword-wielding Pokemon in Sword and Shield. Therefore, it is not shocking to find a Pokemon-themed announcement in almost every aspect of a gamer’s life, whether it be in fashion, food, and technology.

Fans of the Pokemon franchise have an interesting partnership to look forward to this Christmas season as The Pokemon Company has announced a collaboration with famous eyewear fashion brand, JINS Eyewear. Working together to create and design eyeglasses and accessories inspired by Pokemon, hopeful fans can select their favorite starters and legendaries to wear on their faces.

Beginning today, up to 50 various frame models are ready for purchase at the JINS website. The team behind the JINS Pokemon Model line provided fans these many choices to reflect how the fans are able to select their first Pokemon at the start of each mainline game.

All currently available glasses are divided into four unique models – Kids Model, Johto Region Model, Kanto Region Model, and the Flagship Model. Each of these models will come in its own unique set of accessories including decorative stickers, cleaning cloth, and eyeglass case. Some of these designs are remodels of existing JINS frames but give a unique design or shape that focuses on a Pokemon’s famous character trait.

The Flagship Model features a few of the most famous Pokemon in the franchise such as Mew, Snorlax, Eevee, and Pikachu. Costing $140, each frame comes with a brown leather case and a cleaning cloth embossed with Poke Ball designs.

For enthusiastic Gen 1 fans, the Kanto Region Model has the designs of Squirtle, Charmander, and Bulbasaur in one arm of the frame and Pikachu in the other. They will come in a grey case and the cleaning cloth is designed with all the 151 Pokemon from the first region.

The Johto Region Model boasts of Gen 2 starter Pokemon: Totodile, Cyndaquil, Chikorita with legendaries Ho-Oh and Lugia. The white frame case and silver/gold cleaning cloth were outlined to pay respect to the mainline games, Pokemon Gold and Silver.

Meanwhile, the Kids Model has more Pokeball-themed features that tie in with the shadows of Mew, Eevee, and Pikachu. Accessories include a Pokeball frame case with a Rotom cleaning cloth. Frames from both the Johto and Kanto region costs $120 while glasses from the Kids Model are at $100.

Ubisoft Renewing Beyond Good And Evil Trademark

1
beyond_good_and_evil___vertical_grid_by_brokennoah_ddh9kmj-fullview

Ubisoft has just recently renewed the trademark for Beyond Good and Evil. The French-based gaming developer and publisher has long been developing a sequel to the 2003 cult-classic, so this renewal of trademark could mean various different things for Ubisoft and Beyond Good & Evil.

When a developer renews a trademark, rumors often come along with it. Although the renewal could easily be necessary behind-the-scenes paperwork, it also usually leads to good news, like how the game Skate 4 was announced last year after developer EA renewed the Skate trademark back in 2019.

There are various probabilities as to why Ubisoft renewed the trademark for Beyond Good and Evil. The least remarkable option is simply that Ubisoft is renewing the IP to maintain its ownership. Obviously, Ubisoft is happy with the development of Beyond Good and Evil 2, and the title ultimately releases soon. So the news of the trademark renewal doesn’t come with unexpected expectations for an unrevealed sequel. However, there are still other interesting things to think about with the trademark news.

bevl-std-store-landscape-2560x1440-2560x1440-657533412-9382403

The original Beyond Good and Evil game was launched seventeen years ago, and the similarly critically acclaimed Beyond Good and Evil HD remaster was launched back in 2011. In an industry full of frequent remasters and remakes, it appears like it would not be a bad idea to bring back the original game again, especially associated with excitement for the upcoming sequel.

Whether it will be a touch up to bring the game to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S generation, or a complete remake such as Final Fantasy 7 or what Capcom has done with the Resident Evil franchise, the trademark could imply to the return of the original game.

Aside from this news, there is also a Beyond Good and Evil movie adaptation arriving on Netflix. The movie is being developed by the same developer who created the hit Detective Pikachu film, Rob Letterman.

Letterman brought wit and humor to the successful Pokemon movie alongside some remarkable special effects. All of this is something that also would be expected in a great Beyond Good and Evil movie. The trademark renewal could surely have something to do with this, although the information of the trademark includes coffee tables, pens, stickers, books, comics, and gaming but didn’t mention anything about a film.

Beyond Good and Evil 2 might top the list of titles that players are waiting to hear more from after being revealed some time ago. It can be disappointing to go long gaps without considerable updates. While the renewal of the trademark may not bring the same level of excitement as massive gameplay reveals, it at least reminds the fans that Ubisoft is still very much invested in Beyond Good and Evil.

Hoa is a Ghibli-Esque Platformer Expected to Release in 2021

screenshot-www-youtube-com-2020-12-22-09_59_27

Fans of both Studio Ghibli movies as well as platformer games will be ecstatic to learn about Hoa, an upcoming Vietnamese game that seamlessly blends both of these wonderful elements together. Many individuals within the video game community have been looking forward to this game ever since the title was announced and a few teasers of the game were unveiled.

What makes it even more mesmerizing, asides from its charming art style, is its incredible soundtrack. Now, PM Studios released a brand-new announcement trailer ahead of its expected April 2021 release date for both Nintendo Switch and PC.

The word “hoa” is Vietnamese in origin and means “flower.” The choice of title makes sense because not only are KYX Studios and Skrollcat Studios based in Vietnam, but the game itself consists of a myriad of flower imagery or nature scenes.

Even though the video game industry has grown and changed so much for the past couple of years, Hoa will probably be one of the first Vietnamese titles to make its way to a highly popular platform such as the Nintendo Switch.

From what we know and can see about the title so far, it can’t be argued that Skrollcat Studio’s side-scrolling adventure definitely deserves some mainstream recognition. Not a lot of details about the game may have been revealed unlike other titles these days, but you only need to watch a couple of minutes of gameplay in order to understand the gist of the game.

Besides, one look and it’s already clear to see just how much the developer was able to capture the same calming art style present in Studio Ghibli’s works. As for its gameplay, it’s basically a puzzle-platformer. Hoa follows the main protagonist of the same name as she goes on an adventure back to her past.

The game’s environment is confirmed to be made out of hand-painted art, which honestly looks amazing. Hoa consists of a variety of characters that you will encounter along the way. Anything is possible in this charming and magical world, so much so that even the rocks are “alive and have personalities.”

https://twitter.com/hoathegame/status/1089230610088943618?s=20

The art and how the game plays aren’t the only reasons why so many are drawn to Hoa. The upcoming title also has an impressive soundtrack that truly soaks in the fact that it’s a Ghibli-esque game all while incorporating a unique Vietnamese sound.

Without a doubt, it’s definitely so exciting to see that Asian countries are slowly but surely making a name for themselves in the mainstream video game industry, such as Genshin Impact by Chinese developer miHoYo and now Hoa. This is definitely a huge step and could serve as an inspiration to other studios out there.

Hoa has been in the works for a few years now, and there were times when the developer was silent about its development for months. However, the ball started rolling for Hoa when it got featured in Nintendo’s Indie World Direct. Now, it has a Steam page available for those fans who want to add the game to their wishlist.

PlayStation Releases Exclusive Holiday Greeting Cards

christmas-holiday-2020-ps4-gift-guide-768x424

PlayStation Studios keeps the Christmas spirit going by releasing a set of exclusive holiday greeting cards for fans to spread the love. According to a PlayStation Blog post, the card’s designs commemorate a myriad of the best developers and games of the year.

The holiday greeting card is just one example of Sony offering Christmas gifts to its supporters. It is a tradition that displays game-inspired experiences from throughout the year. Usually, PlayStation partners and friends from across the world help make the designs.

Included in the 2020 collection is a wide variety of game development studios with popular games throughout the year. Famous studios such as Naughty Dog, Insomniac Games, Bungie, Bethesda, Activision, and 2K to name just a few.

However, the list wouldn’t be complete without smaller development teams too, and PlayStation has them covered. There are several creative styles depicting indie game developers including Chucklefish Games, Studio MDHR, and Housemarque.

Some of the top games that saw releases on both the PlayStation 5 and the PlayStation 4 also have some designs here. Front and center are famous launch titles such as Ghost of Tsushima and Marvel’s Spiderman: Miles Morales.

However, next-gen cards also have nods to the critically acclaimed Astro’s Playroom and Demon’s Souls. This is just a small glimpse of the cards available on the blog post, with a few recognizable games and characters to collect.

The tradition of the PlayStation blog of posting exclusive holiday cards is surely a treat for players of the long-running studio. There are cool designs in the 2020 collection such as Deacon from Days Gone riding his motorcycle in the air with a bag of gifts.

There is some skill behind different offerings too including the recreation of iconic characters from Horizon Zero Dawn and Jin Sakai from Ghost of Tsushima. This series not only provides joyful tidings to fans but also remarkable artists into the spotlight.

With this said, not all the cards this year reach great heights. Compared to several of the highlights, there are specific cards that look to have less effort invested in them. Various options such as the card of Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War Zombies from Activision, just have a photo of a game model or character with a slightly festive theme.

While it is essential that PlayStation Studios display diverse studios, there are some development teams in the list that may have players thinking about why they’re included. In general, the exclusive holiday card series is an impressive tradition that presents a lens into the experiences that make PlayStation a great studio.

Heartbeat Sensor for Call of Duty Mobile Still In Development

untitled-1-45-758x426

Call of Duty Mobile has just received its winter-inspired Season 13, Winter War, a few hours ago with new content for fans to enjoy during the holidays. The new update also introduced new maps to the game as well as new weapons and more.

However, among the new content, the developers didn’t add the highly anticipated Heartbeat Sensor tactical item for Call of Duty Mobile. The Heartbeat Sensor has been a famous item in the Call of Duty series including Warzone and Modern Warfare. With speculations and rumors roaming around the possible integration of the Heartbeat Sensor into Call of Duty Mobile, players were expecting either confirmation or answers to why it’s still not in the game.

A fan asked about the matter in a subreddit post for Call of Duty Mobile Season 13 public beta last December 16. User Anarchy3199Chopper posted a question on the thread as to why the Heartbeat Sensor wasn’t added yet, in spite of being on the list of tactical equipment in the game. A developer answered that the item wasn’t supposed to be displayed on the list, but mentioned that the Heartbeat Sensor was still in development and could be added in a future update of Call of Duty Mobile.

maxresdefault-1452511

The Heartbeat Sensor can still make its way into the game but not likely during the current Winter War season. Until then, players can still use the much-anticipated item in other Call of Duty titles such as Warzone.

In addition, Call of Duty Mobile Season 13 still has a lot of content to keep players engaged this December. Winter War will be introducing new weapons, new multiplayer modes, battle pass, and more to Call of Duty Mobile.

The winter update also adds the famous Nuketown Russia map as well as the new multiplayer mode called Grind, where players have to carry their teammates’ dog tags across the map. In the meantime, the battle pass will provide free and premium content based on either Free or Premium Tiers.

codms13fullmain-1642693

There will also be seasonal events and challenges to keep players entertained along with the new Ski Town area in the battle royale mode to celebrate the winter season. Players can also in the season’s major event called On The Brink where they can be rewarded with a new mythic weapon and a new multiplayer perk to use.

While the Heartbeat Sensor won’t still be usable in the game, players can still enjoy the new content added to Call of Duty Mobile this week while they wait for the tactical item to be added.
