More PlayStation 5 stocks available compared to when PS4 was launched

Sony confirms that there will be more PlayStation 5 stock during launch compared to when the PlayStation 4 when it was released in 2013.

The news came from Sony boss Jim Ryan who talked to Washington Post and revealed that there would be more PlayStation 5 units available than the last time Sony released a console. Jim Ryan said:

“For quite some time, in the early part of COVID, that picture was far from clear. Just as the supply things were unclear, would there be any market? Would anyone be allowed to go outside? Would any shops be open? This has been a year like no other. But all of that just reinforced our resolve, and the path we determined at the start of the year was absolutely the right one.”

Based on reports, over 2 million PlayStation 4 systems were sold two weeks since the console was launched and a million sold on day one of the sales. News reports suggest that Sony booked 60 Delta planes to assist in faster shipping of the PlayStation 5.

Sony also denied reports that the company is cutting PlayStation 5 production by a whopping 4 million units because of yield issues. Preorders for the PlayStation 5 are now live and reserved units seem to run out quickly.

The PlayStation 5 is scheduled to be released on November 12 on selected regions and November 19 for the rest of the world.

Spider-Man 2018 remaster will be free on Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition

Right after the PlayStation 5 Showcase last Wednesday, Sony finally confirmed an old rumor which fans suspected all along – Spider-Man: Miles Morales will come with a remastered PlayStation 4’s Spider-Man base game.

However, the remaster will only be included in the Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition which costs $70, similar to other PlayStation 5 games created by first-party developers. The Ultimate Edition also comes with all The City That Never Sleeps DLCs from the PlayStation 4 game as well as three new costumes.

As for the remaster, Insomniac Games says its visual assets have been totally upgraded to take advantage of the PlayStation 5’s upgraded features. This includes enhanced lighting and better-looking character thanks to enhanced hair, eye, skin, and facial animations.

The remaster will also feature ray tracing, augmenting reflections as well as ambient shadows. The upgrade will also include improved touches such as more NPCs and cars moving in the city. Similar to Spider-Man: Miles Morales, the remastered PlayStation 4 masterpiece will offer 60fps performance mode.

In addition, players can expect that the remaster will also take advantage of the haptic feedback feature of the DualSense controller and the console’s 3D audio. Both Spider-Man: Miles Morales and the PlayStation 5 remaster of Spider-Man 2018 will both be available at the next-gen console’s launch on November 12.

Apple Will No Longer Update Fortnite On Mac

Fortnite will no longer be receiving updates on Mac computers – this includes the battle royale itself and the Save the World modes. In a recent post, Epic Games stated that Apple will no longer allow them to release updates on that platform.

The game’s battle royale mode, on the other hand, will still be playable on MacOS. However, the downside is that players will be stuck playing the v13.40 Fortnite build since they can no longer update the game.

And so, the legal battle between Epic Games and Apple continues. It’s really quite sad, but to make up for it, Epic Games will be issuing refunds to Mac users who purchased Save the World packs.

Valorant Plans To Have New Casual Games Modes

There have been a lot of team-based battle royale shooter titles added to the gaming world this year, but a lot of fans have flocked to Valorant. Even though it was only released in June 2020, a lot of players already consider it to be one of the best team-based shooters.

However, the developers haven’t gotten ahead of themselves and are thankfully still conscious of the many ways the game could improve. In a recent interview with US Gamer, it was suggested that more casual gameplay modes would be a great addition to the title.

Like most online games, Riot Games has released several updates for Valorant and this will continue as developers will keep needing to refine the game and fix bugs. That being said, game director Joe Ziegler mentioned that having a “social downtime” in the game would be great.

This would be highly appreciated by many players, as the game modes right now – Rush, Deathmatch, and Plant/Defuse – are all competitive.

Without a doubt, only having three game modes would get tiring real fast. As such, Ziegler talked about wanting a game mode where players could play a warm-up game before a competitive match, or just chill out.

We can already imagine how players will welcome a mode like this, although how this new mode will be implemented remains to be seen. However, it’s clear that Riot Games wants players to relax and unwind too, rather than just constantly be involved in stress-inducing matches.

Valorant also has ideas for future updates to its competitive elements and characters. Aside from the overall improvements made to the game, Zieglar says that every time they decide to add a new thing to the game, they want it to be “disruptive.”

Monster Hunter Rise Features New Animal Companion Types

Monster Hunter World is beginning to wrap up, but fans don’t have to be sad because Capcom will be releasing Monster Hunter Rise to the Nintendo Switch, an all-new title that was included in the most recent Nintendo Partner Showcase.

Unfortunately, Capcom didn’t release a lot of information about the upcoming title, as the announcement trailer was only 2 minutes short, and the Monster Hunter Direct was only 15 minutes. Nevertheless, the fans were able to get a glimpse of the title’s gameplay, setting, and monsters – enough footage to whet their appetite for the game.

Aside from the new beasts you can expect to slay in Monster Hunter Rise, we would like to take a moment to discuss the new support characters aka companions you will meet in the game. These companions will assist you in exploration and battle, making your experiences a little more lively.

First and foremost, dog lovers can hunt with canine companions now at long last. This is actually a first in the Monster Hunter series, with the announcement trailer even showing off one of these Canyne Buddies called a Palamute at the beginning.

Your character can ride on top of these creatures in order to journey through the lands at a much quicker pace. In fact, they can even climb walls! The stamina for these creatures doesn’t decrease, so you can ride as fast and as far as you want.

Canyne’s are an attack-type support, which means that they can also assist you when it comes to battle. There are some scenes in the Monster Hunter Direct footage that shows the Canyne companion to be holding a blade in its mouth.

On the other hand, there are the Felyne Palico companions, which have been an unexpected return to the franchise. Unlike the Palamute, these companions will focus more on supporting your character rather than attacking enemies.

You can bring up to two companions with you, and it’s up to you what companion combination you want to bring. You can even adventure with two Canynes or two Felynes if that’s what you feel like doing.

However, this won’t be the case for multiplayer mode, as you can only bring one Buddy per player. This is possibly implemented to avoid making your party from becoming too overpowered.

That being said, Capcom really knows how to make their fans happy, as they also announced Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin on the same day. More information on both titles will be revealed during the Tokyo Game Show this year.

Monster Hunter Rise will be available on the Nintendo Switch this upcoming March 26th, 2021.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light’s Ghosts Will Undergo Important Changes

Bungie has been teasing us with awesome Destiny 2: Beyond Light news and updates recently – including today, when they revealed that they’ll be making some important changes to Ghosts this November.

You will be able to find this announcement from the company’s This Week at Bungie article, and it goes into specifics about the changes you can expect. Fans have been asking Bungie for Ghost customization in Destiny 2 for quite some time now.

This is so that players can separate functionality from visuals, allowing more flexibility as a result. Fortunately, Bungie has finally agreed that Ghosts require a much-needed overhaul.

The Ghost 2.0 update’s purpose in Beyond Light is to advance the build-crafting ambition of Destiny. Going forward, Ghosts will be blank slates and fans will be able to choose their shells based on aesthetics without having to worry about its perks.

Each Ghost Shell will have access to the same customization options, and source or rarity won’t matter. Of course, the Generalist Shell will be an exception to this, as this is the uncommon rarity Ghost that’s given to new players.

However, the novelty Kill Tracker, as well as the Leviathan Boss Kill displays, will still remain on their particular Ghost shells even after the update.

Ghosts will have 10 energy levels and 4 most slots after November 10. Namely, these are the Experience, Tracking, Economic, and Activity mod slots. The last slot can only be unlocked after you Masterwork the Ghost shell.

Also, each slot can only accept its own mod type. In other words, an Experience Ghost Mod, for example, can only be used in the Experience mod slot. That being said, Bungie plans on releasing a default selection of mods to players, which will include most of the Ghost perks available right now but in mod form.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light will also feature brand-new mods as well, and these will be acquired from gameplay. If you check the Collection tab, you will be able to see the source of all mods in order to help those Guardians who are keeping an eye on a specific Ghost build.

The new Ghost mods featured in Bungie’s update article are Blinding Light and Greater Core Harvest (Vanguard). However, since both of these are annual mods, they will expire a year after they became available.

Blinding Light gives you a 12% boost to XP gains, while the latter gives you the chance to loot an Enhancement Prism.

Last but not least, Destiny 2 players can now have a glimpse at how the new dark UI background will look like when you’re viewing inside of an inspection screen. All this new information, along with the provided screenshots, just goes to show that players will have quite a lot of mods to hunt in Beyond Light.

This all-new Ghost system appears to be the best of both worlds, as it recognizes the player’s progress while at the same time, provides new means for those players who want to try out a more modern build.

Jessie and James Are Leaving Pokemon Go

Jessie and James are saying goodbye to Pokemon Go’s universe, but this doesn’t mean they won’t leave without a bang. On the plus side, their departure means that Niantic has increased players’ chances of encountering them.

The troublesome duo made their way to Pokemon Go only last July 9, but they’re impossible to find directly unlike the Pokemon you encounter. All you can do is wait and hope that they come and find you instead.

For the last several months, trainers have been seeing Team Rocket balloons float by their screens at six-hour intervals. They usually show up around 12 a.m., 6 a.m., 12 p.m., and 6 p.m.

Most of the time, these balloons are only occupied by your regular Team Rocket grunt, but if you have your Rocket Radar turned on, you’ll have the chance to encounter a Leader instead.

That being said, only those players who are extremely lucky get to encounter Jessie and James, which they can proceed to battle against for a chance to win a Shadow Shiny Ekans or Koffing.

Usually, the duo battles with Pokemon haven’t evolved yet. Most specifically, Jessie with her Ekans, Scyther, and Bagon, and James with his Koffing, Sneasel, and Beldum. This means that as long as you have a moderately powerful Pokemon – at least – then you shouldn’t have a hard time winning against them.

If you’re a new trainer, however, or you don’t have strong Pokemon, it’s best to stock up on a lot of potions as the two will need to be defeated back-to-back.

Pokemon Go is a mobile AR game that’s available on iOS and Android, although quite recently they decided to no longer support certain operating systems and devices.

Undertale’s 5th Anniversary Concert Is Now Up On YouTube

Highly-acclaimed indie RPG Undertale celebrated its 5th anniversary this week, and among the many celebratory festivities was a full orchestral performance of the game’s OST. Of course, given the fact that we are still currently on lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic, this wasn’t a live concert.

Instead, the orchestral performance that was streamed was a recording from all the way back in May 2019, along with new content. So, if you weren’t able to receive an invitation to the show in Tokyo last year, this is your chance to watch and listen.

Music Engine, a Japanese orchestral group, was the one who performed the concert and they did so wonderfully, might we add. With their permission, the concert was streamed on the official Undertale YouTube channel.

We have to thank Kota Kawai for being the one who arranged Undertale’s original soundtrack for a full-scale orchestra performance. Not only that but Toby Fox – Undertale’s developer/writer/composer – also performed some pieces on the piano.

Undertale’s soundtrack has always been considered a gem by fans and critics alike upon release, with some even going on to say that it played a huge part in the title’s success. As such, it feels very fitting for us to celebrate the game’s 5th birthday with this wonderful concert.

Asides from the streamed performance, Toby Fox also gave us a very detailed progress report on Deltarune, Undertale’s follow-up game. There’s no definite release date yet for Deltarune Chapter 2, but Toby Fox is quite confident that they will be able to release it before 2020 ends.

Warner Bros. Clarifies That J.K. Rowling Is Not Directly Involved With New Harry Potter RPG

Highly-anticipated Harry Potter: Hogwarts Legacy was recently announced during Sony’s PlayStation 5 showcase. However, the series’ creator JK Rowling has been thoroughly criticized by fans and non-fans alike for a few years now due to her transphobic tweets.

To make things worse, Rowling’s newly released novel, Troubled Blood, features a cis-gendered male serial killer who wears feminine clothing in order to prey on women. Understandably, this caused a whole new controversy, as former fans are now upset that the entire Harry Potter franchise has been ruined because of her.

As such, it doesn’t come as a surprise that Warner Bros. has quickly clarified the author’s relationship with the upcoming RPG on their FAQ page. That is to say that she isn’t directly involved with the creation of the game’s story and development and that the title won’t feature a new narrative from her.

Although they do admit that the game, and every other project based on the Wizarding World, is based on the renowned Harry Potter series.

Also, they released a statement back in June after Rowling’s controversial tweets, although they didn’t specifically name her:

These statements and clarifications are much-needed and expected PR moves, however, they may not be enough to redeem the game for the hurt fans. After all, Rowling will most likely still receive royalties from Hogwarts Legacy.

Since fans want her to be held accountable for her discriminatory views, some are already calling to boycott the game. The argument “separate the art from the artist” rises up in this scenario, especially since the Harry Potter franchise has grown to include hundreds of collaborators beyond Rowling.

Of course, even developers of Harry Potter: Hogwarts Legacy have expressed hurt and shame for Rowling’s comments. It is without a doubt that a lot of the developers are fans of the franchise, but they feel betrayed by her.

Hogwarts Legacy showcased a very impressive trailer, featuring the grand school grounds of Hogwarts back in the 1800s. The title looks like a Harry Potter fan’s dream come true in so many ways, but we have yet to see whether or not it will succeed given its associations with J.K. Rowling.
