Disgaea 5: Complete Will Be Free For A Limited Time on Nintendo Switch

Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny was announced during the Nintendo Direct Mini today. Of course, this comes as great news for long-time Disgaea fans. However, it’s understandable if those who haven’t played any games from the franchise to be somewhat wary about jumping into it on the sixth title.

Fortunately, you now have the chance to try out the series, all thanks to Nintendo. Among the many reveals and announcements during the Direct Mini, they also declared that Disgaea 5: Complete, the previous entry, will be available for free as a part of Nintendo’s latest Game Trial.

In case you don’t know, Game Trials is a program that’s a part of Nintendo Switch Online. As the name suggests, it puts select games on free trial periods so that you can try them out. It’s worth noting that these are the complete versions of the games, so you can download and play as much of the title as you want for the duration of the trial.

Once it’s over, you can decide to pay and continue where you left off. It’s actually very convenient. Nintendo launched Game Trials last year with a free trial of Mario Tennis Aces, and very soon, it will be Disgaea 5.

That being said, the Game Trial for Disgaea 5: Complete will run from September 23 through September 29. Being a game considered to be one of the biggest time-killers on the Switch, six days might not be enough to fully immerse yourself into this tactical RPG.

However, this should still be enough time to make interested players decide whether or not they want to get the game for themselves.

Should you wish to delve into the entire Disgaea franchise, the complete versions of Disgaea 1 and Disgaea 4 are also available on the console. In other words, you definitely have a few options to choose from.

Ray Tracing Now Supported on Fortnite PC

Epic Games has announced via a blog post that ray tracing has finally made its way to Fortnite. This can be enabled along with Nvidia’s DLSS feature for those players using supported Nvidia GPUs and DirectX12.

The update doesn’t have any surprises up its sleeve, though; you will find the usual improvements that ray tracing has to offer. For instance, improved reflections and shadows are a big part of the changes you’ll find, along with ambient occlusion and real-time global illumination.

However, you can see the improvements for yourself on your gaming pc for fortnite. Epic and Nvidia have teamed up to make a custom minigame map in creative mode. This minimap is meant to boast all these new features that come with ray tracing, but it’s full of little challenges wrapped in a shiny and reflective package.

That being said, Nvidia’s DLSS feature also plays a big part because it increases the frame rate when you’re using ray tracing. This makes sense if you think about it since the use of ray tracing is still pretty taxing for many GPUs.

Nvidia is actually offering three different performance options with DLSS, which gives you the option to choose between either graphical fidelity or performance as a whole. The update also has the Nvidia’s Reflex feature, and this works to lessen CPU pressure during scenes that are quite heavy on the GPU. Square Enix clarifies Final Fantasy 16 will be PS5 exclusive

The confusion, broken promises, and uncertain announcements continue to haunt PlayStation 5’s recently concluded live streaming event.

Sony opened its PlayStation 5 Showcase with a reveal trailer for Final Fantasy XVI. It was the only title in the event whose footage was captured on a PC while mirroring the capabilities of Sony’s next-gen console. The rest of the featured games were all captured running on the PlayStation 5.

Final Fantasy XVI’s trailer ended stating that the game will be a PlayStation exclusive but will also be released on the PC. However, Square Enix clarified in a special announcement via its official channels without mentioning other platforms aside from the PlayStation 5.

When the media followed up with Square Enix, it stood up to its announcement stating that. “We have no further information on if Final Fantasy 16 will be released on platforms other than the PS5.”

I asked Square Enix about the PC version of FF16 since it's not mentioned in the official trailer or press release.

This looks like a classic case of miscommunication between the publisher and PlayStation. Final Fantasy XVI was from the start a PlayStation exclusive, with more ports to be announced later down the line. For example, the recently launched Final Fantasy VII Remake specifies that the game will be exclusive for the PlayStation 4 for one year only.

What likely occurred here was Sony immediately jumped the gun and didn’t clarify if a PC version of the game really exists. Analysts predict that Final Fantasy XVI will be released on the PC six months after its launch on the PlayStation 5, and on other platforms a year later.

Microsoft promises orderly Series X preorders in nod to PS5 chaos

Microsoft has guaranteed fans that they will soon announce exact preorder times for the Xbox Series X/S, in a heedless nod to Sony’s chaotic PlayStation 5 presale.

Last Wednesday, a few major retailers began their preorders for the PlayStation 5 without pre-warning fans, despite the fact that Sony stated to its community that preorders will start by Thursday.

However, retailers in the UK including Game, GameStop, Target, and Walmart had already declared that they are sold out of their given PlayStation 5 stock only hours after the next-gen console’s release dates were revealed.

In a tweet posted by the official Twitter page of Xbox, the company guaranteed its fans that they would confirm the specific times that preorders for the Xbox Series X/S will go live. Last week, Microsoft announced that preorders for Microsoft’s next-gen consoles will start on Tuesday, September 22.

In the UK, Microsoft already affirmed that preorders will go online at 8 am on September 22 via multiple retailers including Very.co.uk, AO.com, John Lewis, Smyths Toys, Curry’s PC World, Argos, Game, Amazon, and the Microsoft Store.

On a tweet last Wednesday, Xbox took the chance to promote the Xbox Series X/S November 10 global launch date. On the other hand, PlayStation confirmed that the PlayStation 5 will be released across two dates in November.

The PlayStation 5 will start distribution on November 12 for $500 for the standard edition while its Digital Edition will cost $400. Meanwhile, Microsoft confirmed that its next-gen consoles will cost $499 for the Xbox Series X and $300 for the Xbox Series S.

PlayStation 5 sold out a day before Sony’s official pre-order date

Multiple retailers have declared that they no longer entertain preorders of the PlayStation 5 temporarily since they are already sold out, despite Sony telling fans that preorders for the next-gen console will begin tomorrow.

In the United States, retailers such as Best Buy, GameStop, Walmart, and Target put up their preorder sites live just hours after Sony’s PlayStation 5 Showcase last Wednesday.

PS5 pre-orders will be available starting as early as tomorrow at select retailers.

All of them were sold out except for Best Buy whose website encountered technical difficulties which resulted in angry fans going to Twitter and lambasted the company into the daily trending topics.

A spokesperson from Walmart announced they will have more PlayStation 5 consoles available for preorders via its physical stores. Meanwhile in the UK, Smyths and Game also began taking preorders for the PlayStation 5 a day before PlayStation UK stated that they would.

Both retailers instantly sold out of PlayStation 5 Digital Edition consoles which were revealed to have limited supplies compared to the standard edition. As of writing, Game doesn’t have any listings for any PlayStation 5 products.

In the meantime, Amazon UK opened preorders for the PlayStation 5 standard edition Thursday morning and declared it was sold out in just 30 minutes. They also opened preorders for the Digital Edition a few hours later and it sold out in even lesser time.

Sony already sent out invitations to fans who were able to preorder the next-gen console directly from the PlayStation website. However, they will only be able to buy the console this Friday.

Here’s Your First Look at the PlayStation 5 retail box

Sony has released the first photos of the PlayStation 5 hardware retail box. Last Wednesday, Sony finally revealed that the PlayStation 5 will be released beginning November 12 in select areas and November 19 for the rest of the world.

Sony also announced the prices for both of their next-gen consoles with the Digital Edition costing $400 and $500 for the standard edition. The PlayStation 5 will be first distributed in South Korea, Australia, Mexico, Canada, Japan, and the United States. The rest of the world will receive copies of the console a week later which includes Asia, South Africa, South America, Middle East, and Europe.

Sony also confirmed that several first-party PlayStation 5 games will now cost $10 higher at $70 per game which follows an industry-wide trend of having more expensive games on the next-gen consoles.

Luckily, the platform holder announced that several games previously revealed as PlayStation 5 exclusives will also be launched on the PlayStation 4 such as Spider-Man Miles Morales and Horizon Forbidden West.

Two new monster hunter games coming to the Switch next year

During the Nintendo Direct Mini Partner Showcase, Capcom announces Monster Hunter Rise and Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin are set to be released to the Nintendo Switch in 2021.

The next installment in the hunting action RPG franchise, Monster Hunter Rise, will be launched on March 26, 2021, Capcom confirmed last Thursday.

It will be followed immediately by Monster Hunter Stories 2 in the summer of 2021. According to Nintendo, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin will let players take on the role of a Monster Rider who becomes friends with notable creatures from the Monster Hunter franchise and goes on an epic journey together.

During the Nintendo Direct Mini Monster Hunter presentation, the game’s series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto explained that the word “Rise” in the title points out to the ability of hunters traversing cliffs and utilizing the vertical environment as well as the studio’s desire to make a game that makes their fans burst with excitement.

Based on the trailer, Monster Hunter Rise will allow players to explore cliffs and hard to reach areas using a small monster called Wirebug. Game director Yasunori Ichinose added that players can carry these small bugs everywhere which allow them to climb various places that look impossible to reach.

In addition, there will also be different actions available when riding the Wirebug which can be used to attack. Utilizing these attacks with various weapons will be what the game’s combat is all about. Capcom will also launch three new Amiibos alongside Monster Hunter Rise which when used will allow players to receive an exclusive layered armor.
