PUBG Rumored To Have Tournament-Style Game Mode

It has been a rollercoaster ride for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds recently, with the game banning over 2 million cheaters on mobile, as well as reaching $3.5 billion from microtransactions alone.

This new update hasn’t been officially confirmed, but there’s a rumor that a tournament mode will be made available to PUBG soon. Many players of the game were really excited when Ranked Solo was officially confirmed, while they had to wait over three years for a Ranked Mode to be released at all.

That said, a recent leak has claimed that a brand-new mode will be making its way to this renowned title. This mode was described to have tournament-style gameplay, which is a big change from the usual battle royale format.

A leaker otherwise known as PlayerIGN has stated that the alleged new mode will be called Vostok. It’s said that Vostok will be a blend of FPS and the auto battler genre also known as auto chess. This type of mechanics was popularized by the mod DOTA 2 Auto Chess.

Now, this kind of genre is more strategic and turn-based, giving you the chance to not only recruit but to upgrade your units. These units would then “auto-battle” the opponent’s units, just like in your regular game of chess.

In the video that PlayerIGN posted, the leaker claims that Vostok will be composed of 1v1 battles wherein each player will fight it out with limited spawns. Players would have three lives each, and each encounter is done by rotations where they get the chance to upgrade gear or win money. This goes on until one player wins.

If you’ve played PUBG before, you’d know what a big change this will be if this rumor is proven to be true. After all, the game usually only receives updates that don’t really switch up the gameplay drastically.

Based on what we can understand from this leak, Vostok seems to be a completely new game. Although PlayerIGN states that existing elements from PUBG would be incorporated while simply adding a new twist to the game.

That being said, please do take this rumor with a grain of salt, since there are no official announcements yet. If it were true, though, it would definitely be a very interesting take on PUBG.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is currently available on PC, PS4, Stadia, Xbox One, as well as mobile devices.

Bungie Bluntly Denies Rumors Regarding Microsoft Buyout

In a recent GamesBeat podcast, a rumor emerged that Bungie and Microsoft had a talk regarding a possible buyout. However, this fell through because they weren’t able to agree on a price.

A Eurogamer article also happened to strengthen this rumor by saying that it heard these rumors independently. Now, this hearsay was spread enough that Bungie CEO Pete Parsons had to bluntly deny the reports.

Although, we’re not exactly sure which part Parsons is denying – the fact that the discussion fell through, or if there was a buyout discussion between the two companies, to begin with.

However, Bungie made a follow-up statement via a representative:

screenshot-pvplive-net-2020-09-15-13_38_26In case you didn’t know, Bungie was once a part of Microsoft when it acquired the studio all the way back in the year 2000. That was when they made Halo an Xbox exclusive. Fast forward seven years later, Bungie became independent once again, only to sign up with Activision for a publishing deal for their Destiny franchise that was meant to last ten years.

However, things didn’t work out well with that arrangement, and Bungie decided to separate with Activision in 2019.

Later on, Venturebeat’s Jeff Grubb – the one who initially mentioned the rumor – tweeted that his comment wasn’t supposed to mean that an official movement towards a buyout was underway.

Upcoming dogfighting title Star Wars: Squadrons won’t exclusively be available on the Epic Games Store, as you can also get it on Steam and Origin, depending on your preferences. However, the Epic Store has something up its sleeve to persuade you to get the game from them.

That is to say that preordering Star Wars: Squadrons from the Epic Store entitles you to a free X-Wing Glider which you can use on Fortnite.

https://twitter.com/EpicGames/status/1305524198501224449?s=20

This all-new glider is one of the cosmetic items included in the game’s preorder bonus items. The X-Wing probably won’t mean much to players who don’t play Fortnite, however, a lot of people do play it. As such, an exclusive glider would probably be a very tempting offer to a lot of fans.

On a related note, EA also released a Star Wars: Squadrons cinematic around the same time. This cinematic trailer introduces Titan Leader, who is the head of the Imperial squadron.

Star Wars: Squadrons is definitely taking a really interesting perspective, as the Imperials appear to be viewed as the hero faction in the trailer. The upcoming title’s dogfighting looks pretty good, too, but we’re definitely looking forward to what the storyline has to give us.

Star Wars: Squadrons is scheduled to launch on October 2.

New Details Revealed For the Civilization 6 DLC Included in New Frontier Pass

The developers for Civilization 6 have recently revealed details for the newest DLC that will be included in New Frontier Pass. New Frontier Pass is a six-part pack and features new downloadable content bi-monthly, along with new leaders and game modes.

The last DLC pack was released in July, and it only had one civilization (Ethiopian) and the Secret Societies game mode. Although the previous pack only had one civilization, it did have alternate personas for Catherine De Medici as well as Teddy Roosevelt.

Now, this upcoming DLC for Civilization 6 will be full of new features, such as two civilizations, a new map, and even a new game mode.

These two new civilizations are going to be Gaul and Byzantine, both of which are situated in Europe. That said, we don’t know who the leaders of the new civilizations will be, so it would definitely be interesting to find out given that these two regions were deeply involved in historical conquests.

Among the other things included in the DLC, you’ll find the Dramatic Ages game mode. For this new mode, every age advancement that takes place will put your civilization in either a Golden Age or a Dark Age.

For the Golden Age, your civilization will experience a boost in citizen loyalty. On the other hand, there will be rebellion and unrest during the Dark Ages.

This anticipated New Frontier Pass DLC will also include a brand-new map script called Highlands. This map script will feature hills and mountains, which will give you strategical challenges.

screenshot-gamerant-com-2020-09-15-12_15_05

Last but not least, you will also find two World Wonders in this upcoming pack, namely the Biosphere and the Statue of Zeus. The former will give out bonuses basing on adjacent marsh and rainforest tiles. On the other hand, the Statue of Zeus will give out free military units, among other things.

Although we still have no clue who the leaders will be, the revealed content for this DLC has already been pretty exciting in and of itself.

You can play Civilization 6 on multiple gaming platforms like Linux, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and even on your iOS device.

Valorant Glitch Possibly a Teaser for Next Agent

Riot Games has already previously announced that Valorant’s Act 2 will end on October 13. In other words, this means that Act 3 will quickly follow suit, which also means the introduction of a new Agent.

So far, Riot hasn’t released any information on the 13th Agent just yet. Given the fact that there’s a month left in Act 2, players are now scrambling to find any hint or details regarding the upcoming Agent.

That said, we may be getting an in-game teaser, as Reddit user ‘unofficialchicken’ has come across a very strange, glowing orb in Valorant before disappearing.

Strange Green Glowing Orb I Found in a Game of Spike Rush on Split from VALORANT

This took place during a game of Spike Rush, which is a mode where different-colored orbs are spread all throughout the map. Unofficialchicken’s team was left speechless after seeing the floating orb.

Some people in the Reddit thread commented that it’s possibly a glitch, as it looked like Sage’s slow orb mid-explosion. Strangely enough, however, is that Sage was not in the game during that time.

Meanwhile, others think it’s residual effects from a previous animation, or perhaps a glitched-out powerup orb. On the other hand, there are some who think that this could be a teaser for the new Agent.

What made fans consider the possibility that this was a teaser is because of the way the orb faded out. The animation that the specter displayed before disappearing didn’t look like a glitch at all.

screenshot-www-reddit-com-2020-09-15-11_35_08This wouldn’t be the first time that Riot added a teaser for a new Agent in-game, though. In Valorant’s Act 1 Battepass, Riot added a cutout figure of Killjoy on Split’s sneaker store before she was released in Act 2.

In a similar fashion, the Act 2 Battlepass features a Tier 48 banner called ‘The Way Forward.’ This also appears to be a teaser for the backstory of an unknown Agent. If you look at it closely, the banner found on Act 2 appears to have the same color palette as the glowing orb.

These are all speculation for now, but we personally think the evidence is piling up. We may not have solid proof just yet that the glitch and the banner are connected, but Act 3 is fast approaching.

With just a month left before the new Act, Valorant fans are definitely looking forward to seeing what and who Riot will bring to the table.

Fortnite Adds X-Wing Glider From Star Wars

Fortnite’s fourth season is jampacked with new superhero content from Marvel. For instance, the game has added superhero skins such as Iron Man, She-Hulk, and Wolverine in their Battle Pass feature.

Not only that, but Fornite has also recently added the Stark Industries to the map, along with new superpowers. Now, their latest addition to the item shop is from Star Wars, another popular Disney franchise.

Star Wars has made its way to Fortnite yet again with the addition of the new X-Wing Glider. As of right now, it’s available for 1,200 V-Bucks in the game’s item shop. During the previous Star Wars x Fornite collaboration, there were exclusive skins for characters from The Last Jedi, such as Kylo Ren and Rey.

Not only that, but players could also purchase the Y-Wing Bomber Glider last time. Now, on the other hand, you can get your hands on the X-Wing as a glider.

New Star Wars items usually get added to Fortnite as a way to promote upcoming movies or video games. For example, a Stormtrooper skin was added to promote the release of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

In this case, the X-Wing Glider is a promotion for Star Wars: Squadrons, which will be released on October 2. As a matter of fact, you can get the glider for free if you preorder Star Wars: Squadrons.

Around the same time the X-Wing Glider was added to the shop, a new animated short for Star Wars: Squadrons was released by EA. It makes sense that these two were released at the same time, though, since the animated trailer featured an X-Wing.

As such, we wouldn’t be surprised if this marks the start of a promotion that will bring more Star Wars: Squadrons content to Fortnite. If this does happen, we will likely see more spacecrafts or pilot attires in the game, since Squadrons is a spacecraft combat title.

Similar to the other gliders you can use in Fortnite, you simply hold on to the bars found at the bottom. Given the fact that Fortnite’s current season features Marvel-themed cosmetics and Star Wars-themed items, we’re curious to see what situations this combination will bring about.

Ooblets is an adorable farming and relaxing farming game, but the twist is that you collect creatures and have them compete in dance-offs. It’s currently still in early access, so it hasn’t had a lot of updates yet. That’s why its first content update is quite a big deal to fans.

The Nullwhere Update (Update 0.4) will be adding a new Halloween-inspired region to the game, complete with new characters and even its very own storyline.

https://twitter.com/ooblets/status/1305569427644010496?s=20

The official Ooblets Twitter account says it’s similar to Mamoonia, which is another explorable location with its own storyline. Basing on the teased screenshots, Nullwhere has green mist, creepy trees, and even characters who have dressed up as ghosts.

The Ooblets art style is so adorable, though, so it’s highly unlikely that this Nullwhere update will be as spooky as the announcement makes it seem. That said, you can definitely expect some Ooblets humor such as sly and witty retorts. Perhaps we’ll even have some Halloween-themed dance-offs or a new spooky Ooblet you can add to your collection.

eh5clshu8aih_bf

Nevertheless, the fans seem taut with excitement with whatever this update has to offer. The free update will go live sometime this month for those who already own the game. By the way, Nullwhere will be a permanent region in the game, so you can regularly get your dose of Halloween at any time.

Ooblets is available as an early access title for PC via Epic Games Store and Xbox.

New Genshin Impact Story Teaser Revealed

0
screenshot-gamerant-com-2020-09-15-07_39_42

Genshin Impact was first announced last year, and now, the game’s release date is fast approaching. It was initially thought that Genshin Impact was comparable to Breath of the Wild, but now we can see that they are completely different games, except perhaps for the aesthetic.

When you first take a look at the game, it can be confusing. However, we now have a clear understanding of what the game is exactly. Genshin Impact is an action RPG with open-world gameplay. What’s more, players are able to switch between 4 different characters in the middle of the fighting.

Some parts to Genshin Impact’s storyline have been available on the game’s website in the form of manga, but a story trailer was released today and this further explained the game’s story. The teaser talks about how the in-game city of Mondstadt used to be ruled by a tyrant.

The narrator, whom we assume is the current Archon of wind, tells us the story of how he came across a young bard who led a rebellion against the tyrant. The rebellion was successful and the ruler was defeated.

Some fans have speculated that the backstory is probably that of Venti’s, who is a character known to be quite mysterious. Also, Venti looks pretty similar to the boy in the video. A comment on the teaser even says that Venti is probably a reincarnation of the boy.

To be fair, several betas have already been released for Genshin Impact, so it’s not surprising that fans have been trying to collect lore.

screenshot-gamerant-com-2020-09-15-07_40_50

More information regarding the game will definitely be revealed after its release, but this is the clearest backstory we’ve had so far. That being said, we probably won’t get Genshin Impact’s complete story on launch.

This is because the upcoming title is designed to be ongoing, similar to a live service game. On the plus side, this spiritual successor to Honkai Impact will be free-to-play.

Genshin Impact will be available for free starting September 28 on mobile devices as well as on PC and PS4. Meanwhile, a Switch version is currently being developed.

Fall Guys trapped its worst players inside Cheater Island

Fall Guys’ developer Mediatonic has invented a secret place, called Cheater Island, to make fun of the game’s most deceitful players.

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout players that have been enjoying the game since it was released on the Epic Games Store and Playstation Plus must have certainly noticed the game’s worsening cheating issues. This is not a new issue to Mediatonic since they have acknowledged the presence of hackers and cheaters in their game.

https://twitter.com/FallGuysGame/status/1305486780851007489

Cheating and hacking issues are common, especially in online games. However, it seems Mediatonic has had the worst of it and has implemented a unique approach in dealing with these kinds of players.

Instead of banning the players that were caught cheating, the developers put the players inside their own type of hell – Cheater Island. The developers announced that they initially planned that those players who were sorted into Cheater Island would be “falling forever”.

Allegedly, during the early days of Fall Guys, there were not enough cheaters to enter a full game. However, this didn’t last long as a lot of cheaters soon filled the island.

The social media is now full of videos of a whole lobby of Fall Guys players who are cheating and are now playing with each other inside Cheater Island. Most probably, the ones who uploaded these videos are cheating too thus, their presence on the island.

However, all good things must come to an end. Cheater Island has been closed and players who are caught cheating have been handed the ban hammer.

Everything You Need To Know About The New Trending Game Black Myth: Wukong

maxresdefault-25

Black Myth: Wukong may not be as famous as the other next-gen console games but it has already drawn the attention of fans after the release of its jaw-dropping gameplay trailer.

This is the first major project from Chinese indie developer Game Science and it seems astonishingly ambitious. However, Game Science’s founder, Feng Ji wants fans to “just forget” the recently released footage since it was really intended to attract other developers to join his studio and because he feels the trailer doesn’t portray the team’s best work.

Black Myth: Wukong’s Developers

The developers behind the now-famous Black Myth: Wukong is Game Science – a Chinese indie game developer based in Shenzhen and Hangzhou. The studio was established last 2014 by a team of former Tencent developers.

A few of the games released by the studio on PC and mobile include F2P games such as Art of War: Red Tides and 100 Heroes. Before starting the studio, most of the developers were working at Tencent’s Quantum Studio where they were creating an MMORPG called Asura West which supposedly didn’t work well for Tencent. Although, it is uncertain if this is the exact reason why the team separated from Tencent.

While Game Science is still a juvenile studio, they are utilizing the early announcement for Black Myth: Wukong to invite new talents to help finish the game.

Black Myth: Wukong Plot

While the developers haven’t revealed in-depth details about the game’s story, what is publicly known is that Black Myth: Wukong is based on the classic Chinese story, Journey to the West – one of the four of classic Chinese literature.

screenshot8-1597917756351-5558806

A part of the main story features Sun Wukong, also called the Monkey King, who appears to be the main protagonist in Black Myth: Wukong. In Journey to the West, the story features Wukong from birth to his incredible journey to learn Taoism and become immortal while becoming proficient in combat and language. He also learns 72 forms of heavenly transformation which allow him to morph into various animals and objects.

Black Myth: Wukong Release Date

Game Science hasn’t announced a specific release date yet for Black Myth: Wukong but have revealed that they are aiming to release the game on the PC and certain consoles. A FAQ on the developer’s website states that the game “shouldn’t take 500 years” to complete so fans can only hope that Black Myth: Wukong will come sooner than later.
