The developers previously announced that the Black Ops Cold War beta will go live first on the Sony PlayStation and will be followed by the other consoles. Although the leaks didn’t reveal the full schedule of the beta, it’s easy to determine the rest of the schedule by looking at the previous Call of Duty betas.

On the next weekend, October 15 to 16 will be the turn for Xbox One/PC fans to try the open beta. Best Router for Gaming: Top Gaming Routers In 2020

0
Best Gaming Routers

For most gamers, routers may be overkill. But if you are after a performance with low latency and advanced features, here are some of the most recommended gaming routers in 2020:

Asus RT-AC86U

asus-rt-ac86u-wi-fi-router-promo-shot-2968201

This is perhaps the top overall routers there is for gaming. Considering its price, it is believed to be the best when it comes to performance and features.

It has a 1.8 GHz dual-core processor and has a great finish in latency tests. This gaming router also reached the incredibly fast speeds on the 5 GHz band of any wireless router, not including Wi-Fi 6 models.

Asus RT-AC86U also has an app and web control interface which includes a service engine and lots of other optimization ways for your connection. It is also a proud holder of a gamer-friendly design that is not too over the top.

This gaming router is perfect for everyone who wants an upgrade but refuses to purchase more than what their gaming actually needed.

Additionally, this will also have a newer version later this year. This version will finally be able to support Wi-Fi 6.

TP-Link Archer AX6000

Technically, this isn’t a router for gaming. However, this Wi-Fi 6-equipped router is arguably the fastest in the market today. Its latency performance is incredible either, equalling other gaming-minded TP-Link routers. Its Tether app also incorporates helpful networking features.

Admittedly, now is still a bit early for Wi-Fi 6. But if you want your network to be future-proof, whether for gaming purposes or not, this is a perfect router for you.

Although this isn’t exactly what you can call cheap, it’s a bit more financial-friendly compared to Wi-Fi 6 gaming routers.

Amplifi HD Gamer’s Edition

amplifi-hd-gamers-edition-wi-fi-mesh-router-promo-shot-4289962

Aside from gaming-minded features and design, if multipoint mesh networking is what you’re looking for in a gaming router, this will be the one for you. It’s not that jaw-dropping when it comes to speed tests but with plug-in range extenders that are so easy to use, it is amazing in spreading a stable and speedy Wi-Fi signal.

Additionally, its unique design is attractive and doesn’t require too much space. It even has a touchscreen on the front and LED lights on its base, making you consider sitting out in the open where this router performs better.

Aside from that, Amplifi HD Gamer’s Edition has in-app easy-to-use features. These include a low-latency mode that will allow you to adjust your connection and avoid lag on your devices.

D-Link DIR-867

d-link-dir-867-router-promo-shot-1429796

This router is one of the least expensive for gaming. But despite its price, it has an incredible performance too.

According to some studies, this gaming router has the fastest average speeds on the 2.4 GHz band both on lab-based and home-based speed tests. It has also beat a number of wireless routers that significantly cost more on the speedier 5 GHz band.

While most die-hard gamers will prefer more gaming-focused features for enhanced performance and experience, this router will suffice for most average players. D-Link DIR-867 includes a service engine that lets you prioritize gaming traffic over any other network traffic. This is already enough especially if you want something that won’t leave your bank weeping.

Note though that the stock for this model is already running low.

Asus ROG Rapture GT-AC2900

asus-gt-ac2900-dual-band-gaming-router-1-5191625

Although this gaming router doesn’t offer the same top speeds available with Asus’ Wi-Fi 6-equipped GT-AX11000, this still performed well in numerous tests.

When it comes to average download speed, latency, and range, Asus ROG Rapture GT-AC2900 is an undeniable good router. On top of that, it also has the same commendable suite of gaming features included in other gaming routers from Asus. These include a quality of service engine you can customize and game-and-platform-specific open NAT port-forwarding rules.

If you keep on losing every game that you play, it perhaps occurred to you that you’re just not that good of a player. But if these losses are fueled by a continuous lag in the most crucial situations, that is a different story.

While other games combat lag with an Ethernet port, you’re maybe one of many who prefer wireless connection. In that case, what you need is a better router for gaming.

Choose one of the above-mentioned gaming routers. All of them are winning deals.

Fall Guys Stoked One of the Most Divisive Gaming Arguments: “Tryhard”

Fall Guys

On August 13, 2020, Tik Toker Mubeen Momodu divided the Fall Guys community by reacting on a twitch clip by streamer Robert “Bobbywasabi” Wilson.

♬ Originalton – fallguysclipsz

In the clip, Wilson was having an intense game of Fall Guys. This elicited a negative reaction from Momodu who said, “This is the reason why I stopped playing video games, this game has been out for a week and people are this tryhard at a party game.” He then elaborated that getting so competitive in the game will lose all its fun.

According to him, players can be classified into two groups: the casual player and the “tryhards.”

Casual players, as Momodu described, are those who play Fall Guys as a pastime where they have fun regardless if they win or lose. On the other hand, tryhards are ones who play with rolled-up sleeves and skull-hugging headsets, not willing to become any less than the champion.

Momodu said that tryhard gamers lose the enjoyment of every game that they play for the rest of the players.

This statement has then successfully reignited one of the messiest gaming arguments in the online gaming community for the last decade: Should you play to win or should you relax and play with the hope that winning will come naturally?

The question can truly be absurd for some. After all, the main idea of every game is to let users play until they win, which will then obviously result in added fun. However, this didn’t stop gamers from insulting opponents or teammates who seem to be taking the game a bit too seriously by labeling them as “tryhards.”

Because of the newly lit discussion, a lot of memes making fun of amateur gamers who desperately want to go pro are now spreading online. Most of these memes feature a sweat-drenched gamer staring intently and leaning towards their screen.

The tryhard stereotype was extended even on in-game skins. One example is Fortnite’s soccer kit cosmetics which is now generally known as the shooter’s tryhard uniform.

So if you even won while wearing the soccer jersey, it’s most likely that you receive a message from your opponents labeling you a “sweaty tryhard.”

Cyberpunk Meets Horror Adventure in This New Lovecraftian Game

From Stormling Studios and Iceberg Interactive, a new Lovecraftian horror adventure game is brewing. Transient is a game that takes place in a city called Providence, which is supposedly the last place where the people can survive in an otherwise post-apocalyptic planet.

You play as Rudolph Carter, hacker extraordinaire, who ends up coming across a terrifying truth in the midst of trying to solve a mystery. This “truth” is so horrifying that Carter is on the brink of losing his sanity, questioning his very existence in the process – a classic for most cosmic horror games.

Transient beautifully blends cyberpunk and horror together, in a first-person adventure where you have to solve puzzles and do a lot of hacking.

If you’re a fan of H.P. Lovecraft, you might even recognize the name Rudolph Carter. This is because Carter – a war veteran and occult scholar – is a recurring character in a lot of Lovecraft’s stories.

That being said, Iceberg Interactive is not new to the cosmic horror genre. In fact, they are responsible for publishing other cosmic horror games such as Conarium and The Darkness Within.

Transient’s key features, as noted on the official Stormling Studios website, is as follows:

  • H.P. Lovecraft meets Cyberpunk. Delve deep into an obscure dystopian world and hold firm to your consciousness while you explore enigmatic networks where change is permanent but reality is only temporary.
  • To find out what is going on, traverse between real and artificially created worlds
  • Ominous but lush graphics created with Unreal Engine 4
  • Secrets and easter eggs
  • A haunting and atmospheric soundtrack.

highresscreenshot00004-5920435

By the way, Transient will be powered by Unreal Engine 4, which means that you can expect the gameplay to not only be immersive, but the visuals will be amazingly advanced too.

The game is scheduled to be released by October 2020 on Steam, but you can download the demo right now as well. There’s been a lot of Lovecraftian horror games being released this year, but we welcome them all with open arms.

Fortnite Hackers Earn Over Rs 8.7 crore Every Year

Fortnite, one of the most played mobile games, is currently involved in a legal dispute between Epic Games and Apple. Although aside from having legal issues, it also has what it takes to become a gold mine for cybercriminals.

8f9484f10eb14f85a189fb6117a57026-9657250

Hackers of Fortnite earn about $1.2 million (almost Rs 8.7 crore) a year through selling stolen accounts and in-game skins. They first collect thousands of stolen Fortnite accounts together before putting these in the auction within private Telegram channels. Their selling price would range between $10,000 and $40,000 per log.

According to Night Lion Security, a cybersecurity consulting and investigation firm, the supply and demand for stolen Fortnite accounts are so expansive and lucrative in the black market.

On the lower end of the scale, sellers of stolen Fortnite accounts earn an average of $5,000 every month, or $60,000 per annum. This will total at an overall average of $40,000 every month, or $480,000 per annum for each seller.

In 2017, Fortnite was launched with a feature called the battle royale format where 100 players will compete to be the last surviving player in a remote island.

fortnite2fblog2fpatch-v-1-6-fortnite-battle-royale2ffortnite_br_key-art_w-logo_eng-1920x1080-3e2ce1453476b725fa59e7aeb6ecb90e4b75a0df-8309906

This popular game, being available on multiple platforms, easily acquired a huge following that reaches over 30 million players.

To check for the validity of a Fortnite account, you can do it by loading a list of email/password combinations into the correct software.

According to DonJuji, an esteemed cracker in the underground hacking community, the high-end Fortnite cracking tool will average between 15 and 25 thousand checks per minute or almost 500 account checks per second.

Epic Games, Fortnite’s developer, is exerting effort to stop these mass account checks by limiting the number of logins for every IP address.

However, as stated in one report, hackers can work around this restriction by using expensive proxy rotation services, like Luminati or OxyLabs, to gain a new IP address per their request.

The value of each hacked Fornite account will depend on the character’s in-game skins. These digital costumes are what adds value to the accounts which makes them the core of the entire underground market for Fortnite.

As many successful crackers said, an average success rate of 10-15 percent can be generated by checking for skins on Epic Games logins.

For example, for every batch of 20,000 checked accounts, a seller will have about 2,000 skins. These skins are then packaged and sold as a single “log”.

Based on the report from Data Viper, a threat actor intelligence research and brand monitoring platform, most breaches involving stolen user data are the doings of hacking groups like Gnostic Players and Shiny Hunters. They are then considered indirectly responsible for instigating the whole criminal economy involving stolen gaming accounts.

Aside from Fornite, Roblox, Runescape, and Minecraft are three more games that are greatly profitable in the black market.

As a study shows, adding a variation of +33 percent, or 186 million for every game, will bring a total gross profit of $700 million per year for just the four video games.

fortnite2fbattle-royale2f10br_launch_web_getfortnite_header_1920x881_1564595345506-1920x880-040e4ca48d3989284a24a8ab12d6a73ed4b2b3ed-9665918

An added revenue of 30 percent, or $30 million a year, can be generated through tallying black market sales for each available video game. This makes the whole market of hacked video games an industry that generates a billion-dollar per annum.

The demand for this market is even more increasing due to the Covid-19 global pandemic. Staying at home gives people a great amount of extra time for video games, hence the need for gaming accounts.

As of today, video games companies are still not able to slow down this underground market. For high-end hackers, this means they can still continue selling stolen accounts and earn between six or seven figures a year in revenue.

Blizzard Released PC Requirements for World of Warcraft: Shadowlands and You Might Have to Upgrade

0

Blizzard recently revealed the release date for World of Warcraft: Shadowlands during Gamescom 2020. However, along with that announcement, they also revealed a vital piece of information necessary for you to play the game smoothly.

The minimum and recommended PC requirements for Shadowlands have now been made available and this might mean bad news for many PC gamers out there. For one thing, every single requirement has been increased since the previous expansion for World of Warcraft.

In other words, the CPU, GPU, and storage requirements have been upped. It appears that the only thing you won’t need upgrading is the RAM since Shadowlands and Battle of Azeroth seem to be consistent in that department.

screenshot_full_-_cinematic_4-1868051

Possibly one of the biggest changes, however, is the fact that World of Warcraft players are now required to have a Solid State Drive (SSD) for storage. To be fair, having an SSD was always a recommendation when playing the game, but Battle of Azeroth allowed for a 7200 RPG HDD.

Shadowlands, however, now asks for a minimum requirement of 100GB SSD, which also happens to be its recommended storage, too. For the CPU, the minimum requirements have been increased from Intel i5-760 or AMD FX-8100 up to an Intel i5-3450 or AMD FX-8300.

On the other hand, the recommended specs have been changed from Intel i7-4770 or AMD FC-8300 to Intel i7-6700k or Ryzen 7 2700X.

It’s the same for the GPU requirements, as there has been a step up as well. Minimum requirements are now Nvidia GTX 760 2GB or AMD RX 560 2GB or Intel UHD Graphics 630 from Invidia GT 560 2GB or AMD HD 7850 2GB or Intel HD Graphics 530.

There has been a boost in the recommended requirements, as well – from Nvidia GTX 960 or AMD R9 280 to an Nvidia GTX 1080 or AMD RX Vega 64. That said, the requirements for the GPU has always been quite high for World of Worldcraft, considering the scale of this MMO.

It will be difficult for those who are simply on the edge of the minimum requirements. World of Warcraft has always been an MMORPG that embraced players no matter the PC setup. However, some gamers may have to consider getting a new PC or laptop after the announcement of these new requirements.

Minecraft Dungeons Has More Updates to Come

Recently, Mojang announced Creeping Winter, a new and upcoming DLC for Minecraft Dungeons. This news brought smiles to players’ faces, as it meant new content for the dungeon-set roleplaying game.

However, many fans wondered one thing: will this be the last major update that Minecraft Dungeons will experience? Fortunately, the executive producer David Nisshagen made sure to inform us that updates can definitely be expected in the future.

In the Minecraft Dungeons Diaries, Nisshagen also discussed his plans regarding the future of the game:

“We also want to have, for the base game – for everyone – lots of continuous free updates that just makes the game better and better over time. So we will have things like end game content, end game features – where players who want more of a challenge and want to tickle their treasure collection fancy a bit more, they will have lots of stuff to look forward to.”

There’s a lot to look forward to in Creeping Winter. For one thing, you have the daily trials, where you are given a new trial every day which you need to complete under specific criteria.

They also added another mechanic called “slippery ice,” which is a recurring concept in many RPG’s. This will add a whole new dynamic to the way you fight creepers, for instance.

Minecraft Dungeons has been well-received since its release, keeping even Diablo players entertained. At the same time, it’s friendly enough even to the younger fans who want to delve deeper into the gaming world.

The game is currently available on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One, while the Creeping Winter DLC will be available on September 8.

Eiyuden Chronicle Raises an Impressive Total of Over $4.5 million on Kickstarter

1500x500

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is a highly-anticipated RPG labeled as the “spiritual successor” to the famous Suikoden series. Gamers have been so impressed with what the game has to offer that its Kickstarter campaign has garnered more than $4.5 million!

With that in mind, Eiyuden Chronicle is now the third-biggest video game Kickstarter project. Rabbit & Bear Studios’ initial goal was only around $500,000. However, since the campaign was able to surpass that amount drastically, the developers decided to add other stretch goals which they were able to reach completion.

Image

These stretch goals included the following:

  • Hero Mode – Plumb the depths of special randomized dungeons with your chosen party and take on unique challenges not found elsewhere in Allraan. Plan your team wisely, as certain members will be stronger against specific foes. Be careful though, because your party members will tire over time, making fights harder as you explore deeper into the unknown!
  • Asynchronous Mode – At this stretch goal, you will be able to share your party and fortress town as AI-controlled data with other players, allowing them to battle your army without you even being online.
  • Fortress Town Asset Pack – This set of visual assets will allow you to customize your fortress in the style of a Japanese or Chinese castle, setting you apart from the rest! This is the third piece of FREE Digital DLC for backers.
  • Battle Defense Mode – At this stretch goal, invaders will periodically attack your Fortress Town as the story progresses. Build a Citadel to strengthen your walls, train defensive troops and develop weapons to protect your citizenry from those that would ransack your home.
  • Another Story: Seign – In this DLC side story, you will take control of Seign in an adventure told from the empire’s point of view.

Not only that, but because of the amazing support and funding, Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes will have Brazilian, Korean, Russian, and Portuguese localization.

img_boss-1982173

Much like Suikoden, Eiyuden Chronicle will feature a cast of characters – over 100 to be precise. Also, it’s worth noting that Yoshitaka Murayama and Junko Kawano will be reunited in this game, both of whom played huge roles in the development of Suikoden.

The game will feature your average turn-based combat as well as a fortress town you are tasked to rebuild. The game has so many features that it’s hard to list down everything, but what do you expect? That’s what happens when you reach all your stretch goals.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is planned to be released on multiple gaming platforms such as the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.

Surprise! League of Legends’ Newest Champion Revealed

0
egrwwllwaaaq9gu

Recently, Samira’s emote was teased in-game, which made players scramble to find out how to get the emote. Now, Samira is confirmed to be League of Legends’ newest champion, as revealed by Riot out of nowhere.

Otherwise known as the ‘Desert Rose,’ Samira is known as a “ruthless marksman” who can do both ranged and melee attacks. Awesome, right?

Samira has twin pistols as well as a huge sword, and we can see from the video that her moves mainly deal with dashing, whirling her blade around, as well as releasing a barrage of bullets at her enemies.

Samira is known to kill in style. In fact, she has a Style score which increases in rank as she attacks. Once she reaches the S Rank, she gets to unleash her most lethal ability. Also, Surrender @ 20 was able to data-mine more information about the newest champion a few days ago:

  • PASSIVE – DAREDEVIL IMPULSIVE
Samira builds a combo by hitting Attacks or abilities unique from the previous hit. Each one increases her Style, from “E” to “S” grade (6 total). Samira gains X% Movement Speed per grade.

Samira’s attacks in melee range deal an additional X magic damage, increased up to X based on the target’s missing Health.

Samira’s Attacks against enemies affected by Immobilizing effects Knock Up for 0.5 seconds and deal damage over 6 separate attacks. Samira dashes into range against targets slightly outside her Attack range.

  • Q – FLAIR
Samira fires a shot, dealing X physical damage to the first enemy hit. If this ability is cast towards an enemy in melee range, Samira will instead slash with her sword, dealing X physical damage.

Either hit can critically strike for 25% bonus damage. If cast during Wild Rush, Samira will strike all enemies in her path upon completion.

  • W – BLADE WHIRL
Samira slashes around her for 1 second, damaging enemies twice for X physical damage each and destroying any enemy missiles that enter the area.
  • E – WILD RUSH
Samira dashes through an enemy or ally, slashing enemies she passes through and gaining Attack Speed. Killing an enemy champion refreshes this ability’s cooldown.
  • R – INFERNO TRIGGER
Samira can only use this ability if her current Style rating is S. Samira unleashes a torrent of shots from her weapons, wildly shooting all enemies surrounding her 10 times over 2 seconds, each shot dealing X physical damage and applying lifesteal. Each shot can also critically strike.

This announcement definitely caught us by surprise, although we’re not shocked by the fact that Samira is the new champion. Still, we can’t wait to try her out and see where she fits in the rift.

Sacred Fire: A Psychological RPG Where Emotional Manipulation is Key

0
5462ccff0cd5e100b883eb85ab320906_original

Not a lot know about Sacred Fire, and we don’t blame you! Way back in 2017, there was a Kickstarter by Poetic Studio which was very successful, gaining over $65,000 from a goal of $50,000. There have been constant updates about the game on the Poetic Studio blog, keeping the fans up-to-date with anything regarding the game.

Although it took more or less three years, Sacred Fire finally has a planned release date which will be this 2021. Not only that, the game finally found a publisher – Iceberg Interactive, which is why the game was included in the Iceberg Ahead event.

screenshot-combat-4608350

More than anything, Sacred Fire is comparable to a visual novel rather than your usual RPG adventure game. As such, it’s understandable that not everyone would appreciate it. Basically, you’ll be following a set of story beats and you’ll have to make decisions that can affect what happens in the game.

Each decision has a percentage chance as to whether or not you will succeed. This all depends on stats such as Fear, Anger, etc. For a quick overview, Sacred Fire is set in Caledonia, which is basically ancient Scotland, way back when the Romans ruled Britain.

What makes the game so interesting is how you play the game, relying on psychological decisions and manipulation. In other words, you have to manipulate not only your enemies but your allies as well in order to succeed.

You also need to have a clear head: controlling your emotions and outsmarting the enemies are the way to victory. It’s a game quite similar to Disco Elysium or The Banner Saga and some of the decisions you have to make will be under a time limit.

screenshot-etain-4492757

Your character is also customizable, and you can choose the statistics such as Agility or Endurance. Of course, just like any good game, the character you play won’t be perfect. They will have “Blocks” that will be like an obstacle in your gameplay, such as anger, trauma, addictions, etc. Your ability to resolve conflicts and form relationships will play a huge part in your success.

As mentioned, Sacred Fire won’t be available until 2021, but you can check out more information about the game on their official website, or add it to your wishlist via Steam.
