FIFA21 has officially revealed its Team of the Year (TOTY) for the past calendar year, and FIFA Ultimate Team players will have an opportunity to unpack these remarkably rare and high stat player cards in the next couple of days.

While these particular player cards will only be in packs for a limited amount of time, this is the best time of the year most Ultimate Team players are waiting in order to complete filling out their teams, since the TOTY cards usually have the best stats in the game.

During the previous year, the top players were nominated based on their performances. In the end, 70 nominees were accepted, and according to the official FIFA 21 website, more than 10 million votes were counted to determine the best eleven TOTY candidates.

The TOTY forwards are:

  • Kylian Mbappe of Paris Saint-Germaine
  • Robert Lewandowski of Bayern Munich
  • Cristiano Ronaldo of Juventus

The TOTY midfielders are:

  • Joshua Kimmich of Bayern Munich
  • Kevin de Bruyne of Manchester City
  • Bruno Fernandes of Manchester United

The TOTY defenders are:

  • Manuel Neuer of Bayern Munich
  • Alphonso Davies from Bayern Munich
  • Sergio Ramos of Real Madrid
  • Virgil Van Dijk of Liverpool
  • Trent Alexander-Arnold of Liverpool

https://twitter.com/EASPORTSFIFA/status/1352662319344582661

Some fans are accusing EA of upping the game’s difficulty levels to encourage more spending, but players are likely to spend a lot for these player cards, nonetheless. It’s not shocking that players from Bayern Munich are a consistent feature across the entire TOTY, provided their dominance of the Bundesliga and Champions League Crown.

The rest of the winners had standout performances in their own respective teams. These are widely regarded to be the best player cards in FIFA 21, but how these TOTY cards will change the meta of Ultimate Team is yet to be seen.

New Call of Duty Mobile Marksman Rifle and Burst AR Revealed

Call of Duty Mobile Season One confirmed a few new contents arriving in the game in just a couple of days. These new guns will be introduced in New Order, but not all of them will be available at launch. Players will have to finish seasonal challenges in the game if they want to obtain these new weapons.

Call of Duty Mobile is restarting its season count, bringing new opportunities to its gaming community. While Call of Duty Mobile has been around for over a year, its fan base frequently sees new additions in game modes, maps, and weapons to play on the go. As a mobile shooting game, it does offer a slightly unique experience from the other main Call of Duty games.

The Call of Duty Mobile SKS weapon has been teased for a couple of days as the gaming community guessed on what it could be from a shadow. A few hours ago, the official Twitter account of Call of Duty Mobile has confirmed that the SKS is joining the Marksman Rifle lineup during the next season for players looking for precision-based shooting. The SKS is a powerful gun in both Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Call of Duty Warzone, so players should find an identical potency in its damage output and semi-auto firing ability.

https://twitter.com/PlayCODMobile/status/1353220991346855937?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1353220991346855937%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fgamerant.com%2Fcall-of-duty-mobile-season-1-burst-ar-marksman-rifle%2F

The second new gun arriving to Call of Duty Mobile is the FR .556. This is a strong burst-fire assault rifle that can easily unload a few shots into a target and kill them with a single pull of the trigger. While the FR .556 has had various names throughout the history of the Call of Duty franchise, the gun has held its reputation as the most powerful burst-fire weapon in most games. Players can expect good mobility mixed with controlled firing damage that is certain to down opponents.

While both guns have already appeared in past titles, Call of Duty Mobile fans have yet to experience them in the mobile game. The guns are certain to find a place higher in the existing meta, but it is still unknown if they will make it to the top or be doomed as a mid-tier option.

https://twitter.com/PlayCODMobile/status/1353009600480628736?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1353009600480628736%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fgamerant.com%2Fcall-of-duty-mobile-season-1-burst-ar-marksman-rifle%2F

Hopefully, these guns don’t end up destroying the game’s current balance. New guns in the game can usually enter with unbalanced stats and for some time the community is compelled to deal with a broken gun.

Regardless, these new guns have been tried and tested in previous games which gives the gaming community hope for their successful introduction in Call of Duty Mobile.

Among Us Sold More Than 3 Million Copies On Switch In Launch Month

Among Us is one of the most successful games last year, as a matter of fact, it is one of the biggest surprise hits of all 2020. The game originally released in 2018, but thanks to the quarantine restrictions, it found significant success that is probably unmatched in gaming history. So when it was revealed to be receiving a Nintendo Switch port last month, many became hyped. Since that reveal and launch, the game has had a lot more success.

SuperData is a research company that looks into digital gaming data. While looking at the details of Among Us’ Nintendo Switch version, the company discovered that it was remarkably successful during its Nintendo Switch release month.

SuparData’s information shows that Among Us’ Nintendo Switch version sold more than 3.2 million copies since it released last December 15, 2021. This detail is for digital sales only, which is obviously all of Among Us’ sales because it does not have a physical edition.

How to access the new Among Us 'AirShip' map early on Nintendo Switch

What is even more impressive is that the sales figures are only for the month of December. SuperData’s numbers are solely for the whole month of December alone, so because Among Us released last December 15, those approximated 3.2million sales occurred in just half a month.

In addition, the estimates do not include digital editions that have been refunded. In the case of Among Us, it requires a Nintendo Switch Online subscription to be able to play the game. It would not be a huge surprise if some players refunded the game because of this feature. However, SuperData’s figures claim that the numbers aren’t significantly affected because of the refunds.

As far as other December digital sales are concerned, Pokemon Go dominated the mobile side, Cyberpunk 2077 was the bestselling PC title, while Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War was the bestselling console game.

Moving forward, there is a lot to anticipate in Among Us this year. Success for the title is one of them, along with the new map which should be arriving anytime soon. Developer Innersloth should be more than glad about how well the Switch edition did, as Nintendo should be as well.

While Nintendo’s hybrid console appears like the perfect fit for the game, it is possible that a PlayStation and an Xbox version will be arriving soon as well.

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic Allegedly In Development

A new Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic game is allegedly under development based from various sources, and the game will be coming from a gaming studio that is not EA or BioWare. Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic is widely considered to be one of the best uses of the Star Wars license in video gaming history, and the two titles in the franchise thus far are endeared by fans for their admiration for their source material accompanied with poignant choices, character customizations, and unique storylines.

While Knights of the Old Republic has been inactive aside from ports to other consoles, including a mobile version, there have been some developments over the years that have implied it would become a larger part of Star Wars video games in the future.

The creation of the game’s character Darth Revan as canon had players discussing about what this could mean for future games focused around the Sith Lord. With Lucasfilm revealing a few weeks ago that it would be making Star Wars video game license more open to companies than just EA, the possibility of more Knights of the Old Republic increased, though other games, like Ubisoft’s Star Wars game, have been revealed first.

According to a post from VGC that cites various sources such as Star Wars insider Bespin Bulletin, there is a new Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic currently in the works, and that it is being made by a gaming studio that is not EA or BioWare.

sub-buzz-14872-1558642993-7-9022605

According to Bespin Bulletin, the insider found out that Jason Schreier had revealed that the game is not being created by EA, while other credible sources verified that there is indeed a new Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic game in development.

While news of this new game is a big development in its own right, the fact that it is being made outside of EA and BioWare is also surprising. Supposedly, the game is being developed by a studio that is not a household brand, but that does not necessarily mean it’s being created by an odd choice – just not one that’s instantly recognizable. A new Knights of the Old Republic title from a less traditional but experienced development team might be the new start the franchise needs after its long absence in the industry.

Altdeus: Beyond Chronos Is Making Its Way To Steam And PSVR

We have great news for fans of mecha adventure video games. Originally launched for the Oculus Quest 2, MyDearest Inc. will be bringing Altdeus: Beyond Chronos to Steam and PlayStation VR on February 19 and April 15, respectively.

In case you’re unfamiliar, Altdeus: Beyond Chronos serves as a sequel to Tokyo Chronos, as it takes place 300 years after the events of the previous game. This time around, the sci-fi VR title has super-soldier Chloe as its main protagonist.

Chloe has one mission, and that is to save planet Earth from the Meteoras—enormous aliens who have already succeeded in overpowering and conquering the surface of the Earth. Similar to Pacific Rim, you have to fight and defeat these creatures by utilizing massive robots called Makhia. These mechs are incredibly powerful, and can help you with tactical defenses all while carrying and utilizing rail cannons in the midst of battle.

ss_501ea2c58b1dbb715feefa351c3f985a95bf5d7c-1920x1080-8986156

You can also explore the planet’s final stronghold known as Augmented Tokyo while in Adventure Mode. In this mode, you can interact and get to know the different residents who live in this underground city. Not only that, you have the opportunity to attend and enjoy concerts from Noa, who happens to be a virtual celebrity and Chloe’s co-pilot at the same time.

Altdeus: Beyond Chronos has multiple endings, which makes it a great game to replay if you want to know how all the endings go. The Libra system helps you discover different paths to take, while the Ariadne system allows you to travel back in time so that you can make different decisions.

That being said, Altdeus: Beyond Chronos stars several popular names within the Japanese anime industry. For one thing, the game’s characters were designed by none other than the distinguished LAM, who once worked as a graphic designer for ATLUS on renowned titles such as Persona 5.

Not only that, but famous J-Pop singers have gathered together for a song entitled Desire by ASCA. MyDearest’s game director, Haruki Kashiwakura, said that the fact that Altdeus: Beyond Chronos is heading to both Steam and PSVR means that even more gamers within the video game community will be able to see and experience “this amazing world we spent so much time making.”

ss_1c340be6a57e5acb7a44089c93591d596ddab2a3-1920x1080-3511346

Altdeus was extremely well-received when it launched for the Oculus Quest, so much so that it was a highly rated game on the console’s store with several positive reviews. As such, Kashiwakura said that he was confident that other VR fans who use other platforms will be able to appreciate and enjoy everything that Altdeus: Beyond Chronos has to offer.

That being said, it’s worth noting that games such as this, while definitely intriguing, caters to gamers who enjoy the visual novel type of video games. If VR, mecha, and visual novels fit right into your niche, then definitely give Altdeus: Beyond Chronos a shot.

The sci-fi adventure, when released, will be priced at $29.99 on either Steam’s digital storefront or on the PlayStation VR.

All Resident Evil Village Similarities and Connections to Resident Evil 4

Resident Evil Village, the eight mainline game in Capcom’s long-running horror franchise, has a lot of similarities and connections to the franchise’s most acclaimed title, Resident Evil 4. The franchise first started in 1996 with Resident Evil on the original PlayStation, a game that helped define the survival horror genre as well as revivify a long history of zombies in the video game industry. The franchise now consists of over a dozen games, with seven numbered titles and a myriad of other spinoffs.

To build up hype for Resident Evil Village, Capcom unanticipatedly launched a new gameplay trailer alongside a new PlayStation 5 exclusive demo. The demo, called The Maiden, puts fans in the shoes of the titular Maiden as they look for a way out of a scary castle. The demo doesn’t contain any combat, rather focusing more on horror and atmosphere, but another demo featuring combat will be launched for all platforms in the near future.

resident_evil_village-4642023

The new Resident Evil Village gameplay trailer revealed a couple of features and similarities that have been borrowed from Resident Evil 4. The forthcoming game’s focus on direct combat, as compared to Resident Evil 7’s harsher focus on survival, is identical to the fourth installment’s reimagination of the franchise as a third-person shooter action romp.

Resident Evil 4’s most iconic character, Merchant, who emerges frequently to sell the player guns and ammo, will also get a successor in the form of a new character The Duke. Both games are also set in frightening European towns featuring a castle as a significant landmark.

In addition to the single-player horror experience provided in Resident Evil Village, the development team has also revealed a new multiplayer game called Resident Evil RE: Verse. The multiplayer game will allow PvP combat between four to six players, with various characters and locations from across the series’ horrifying bioweapons including Resident Evil 3’s Nemesis.

maxresdefault-6574926

The multiplayer game will be available for free to those who buy Resident Evil Village, making it a fun bonus incentive for fans of the title and a big mark of how the franchise has changed since Resident Evil 4.

Resident Evil 7 was considered a return to form for a franchise that promoted survival horror but gradually transitioned into an action-packed shooting series. With Resident Evil Village, Capcom appears to be sticking to what the past game did well, while also consistently pushing the envelope to deliver what players want.

Unlock a Secret Weapon in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla With a Glitch

screenshot-www-youtube-com-2021-01-25-08_00_29

There’s a multitude of things that players can do in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Fans of this latest installment in Ubisoft’s long-running franchise have been slowly discovering the hidden secrets and Easter eggs discreetly hidden throughout the game’s world. This time around, fans have discovered one forceful way to unlock a new lethal weapon, and that’s by hitting a bunch of rocks.

Bugs and glitches are always expected of any massive game such as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Developer and publisher Ubisoft has done a great job so far in containing these technical issues, and there are only a few that players can truly call game-breaking. Although, there was one instance where a glitch allowed players to obtain a lot of opals by “killing off” the training dummies.

That said, this latest discovery is somewhat similar to that glitch in a sense that the Isu bow is probably not meant to be obtained that way. YouTuber JorRaptor recently uploaded a video showcasing how other players can earn the “Noden’s Arc” hunter bow just by hitting rocks.

First and foremost, players need to go to Northumbria, which is located at the topmost part of the map, and then go to a particular lake. A small island should be visible from there. If players swim towards that island, they’ll find a pile of sparkling rocks.

Players then need to hit the rock a few times with whatever weapon they have equipped, as the choice of weapon doesn’t really matter in order to activate this. After doing so, players have to save and then reload the game at least three times—although they can reload it more than that for safety measures.

Voila! There’s a very high chance the following those particular steps caused Assassin’s Creed Valhalla to glitch out and add the Noden’s Arc into the player’s inventory. This Isu bow is undoubtedly an incredibly deadly weapon, and any player would want to bring it along with them.

After this glitch became popular enough to circulate throughout the community, Assassin Creed Valhalla’s narrative director, Darby McDevitt, posted on Twitter confirming that this wasn’t the “‘proper’ way” to to obtain Noden’s Arc. Although, he does admit that it’s a “clever brute force hack” that can be useful to speedrunners.

Of course, there’s a different way to obtain the Isu weapon, but McDevitt doesn’t further explain what the proper way is. It appears to be such a top secret item to unlock that apparently, no one has obtained it the proper way before. One reply on McDevitt’s tweet said that surely by now, someone must have already properly found it. However, the narrative director simply said that “someone almost has,” but didn’t provide any more information about it.

Dedicated Assassin’s Creed Valhalla fans will surely want to try and discover the proper way of obtaining Noden’s Arc. When that happens, it will probably be a cause for celebration, given how long this weapon and remained a secret. For now though, fans who just want to get their hands on the weapon as quickly as possible can simply follow the exploit.

Sea of Thieves Season One Release Date Revealed

0
sea-of-thieves-season-one

A launch has finally been provided for Sea of Thieves’ upcoming Season One and it will be here before you know it. Back in 2020, developer Rare made the revelation that its action-adventure game featuring pirates would be ceasing monthly updates in favor of three-month seasons for the current year.

Sea of Thieves was released in 2018 and got off to a rocky start. The game earned mixed reviews with most critics pointing to the scarcity of content available at the time. However, the developers looked at Sea of Thieves as a “game of service,” and later added a lot more content in the following months.

Ultimately the game turned into a huge success with millions of players and now, almost three years after its original release and only a few months after arriving to the Xbox Series X|S, the development team is continuing its “game as a service” policy with the new addition of seasons.

Rare posted on Twitter a few days ago to reveal that Sea of Thieves Season One will launch in under a week on January 28. The new season will last for three months and come with various updates and new content.

Player progress will tie into a wide array of season-specific challenges, both free and part of the premium pass. Few information exists, however, about what those challenges will be and as what will be added within the season in general.

Most of the fan reactions to the revelation were mostly positive, but some were concerned about the lack of information surrounding the first season. There are only a few days left before it releases and the development team has not disclosed additional information.

When compared to other titles that rely on seasons, this may look to be unorthodox. For example, Treyarch normally launches specific announcements for Call of Duty well before a new season drops in order to heighten the excitement for what is coming.

The absence of communication this close to release may be a bit concerning for Sea of Thieves players. The developers are taking the game in a new direction, yet they are not revealing any of the specifics. This in particular may be a bit of a turn-off for players who are considering buying the battle pass.

Fans may not be so willing to spend more cash if they are not made knowledgeable of what they will be receiving with their purchase. It will be exciting to see how the game will separate itself from other season-centered games.

New Cyberpunk 2077 Concept Art Reveals Johnny Silverhand’s Initial Appearance Before Keanu Reeves

0

Lea Leonowicz, CD Projekt Red’s Senior Concept Artist and Coordinator, recently shared a couple of concept art for Cyberpunk 2077, including ones showcasing what Johnny Silverhand’s appearance was before Keanu Reeves was involved in the game.

It was first revealed that Reeves would play a vital role in Cyberpunk 2077 as Silverhand during E3 2019. Still, no one expected just how important Silverhand would be in the overarching story of Cyberpunk 2077.

Before the events that take place in the game, Johnny Silverhand was a rockstar who essentially just wanted to see the Corps brought down to ruin. Reeves gave him the personality of a know-it-all—an extremist who had little to no filter and manners.

The way Reeves played the character was impressive and really worked well, so much so that some would even argue that Silverhand was the highlight of Cyberpunk 2077. However, it’s quite clear to see that Silverhand didn’t always used to look like Reeves, and Leonowicz’ concept art proves that.

The Senior Concept Artist and Coordinator recently shared a few art pieces dedicated to Cyberpunk 2077 on her ArtStation account. What makes these pieces even more interesting is the fact that a few of them showcase the initial appearance of Johnny Silverhand—way before Reeves was a part of the picture.

Instead of having the actor’s likeness, the conceptual version of the rockstar-slash-activist looks younger and doesn’t have a beard. Aside from that, though, his general look and aesthetic remained the same. He still has his sunglasses, his signature robotic arm, boots and matching leather pants.

Leonowicz’ astounding art gives us fans an interesting glimpse into how much or how little the character changed over the course of Cyberpunk 2077’s development. That being said, we have yet to see just how much Silverhand’s personalty and backstory have changed as well. Of course, we can’t glean anything regarding that from these images alone, but it’s definitely interesting to think about.

Even though characters like Silverhand, among others, have done a great job in making Cyberpunk 2077 even more immersive, such interesting highlights are, sadly, buried underneath all the controversies and ongoing issues.

Fortunately, CD Projekt RED is working hard to release stabilizing updates and hotfixes for the sci-fi title, especially for the last-generation consoles which bore the brunt of the issues. As a matter of fact, the studio released a major update last week that supposedly contained stability improvements and other similar fixes.

Unfortunately, this most recent update—while it did for a fact fix some issues—also introduced a game-breaking bug that halts a player’s progress during the Takemura mission. As expected, this caused even more backlash directed toward developer CD Projekt RED.

While fans appreciate the studio’s efforts in prioritizing patches and fixes, it’s unfortunate that yet another bug was added to the game.

New Game-Breaking Glitch Discovered on Cyberpunk 2077 After Recent Patch

0
screenshot-www-youtube-com-2021-01-25-07_45_53

CD Projekt RED recently rolled out a brand-new update for Cyberpunk 2077 in an effort to fix and improve the game slowly until it becomes the kind of title that it was supposed to be. However, the stabilizing update also brought with it a new game-breaking glitch that will completely hamper the player’s progress if they weren’t aware of the workaround discovered by fans.

For the unaware, CD Projekt RED launched the open-world acton-RPG Cyberpunk 2077 last year after several delays, and it is arguably one of the most controversial games to have ever launched in the history of gaming.

Even though fans’ main issue with Cyberpunk 2077 typically revolves around its myriad of glitches that lessen the overall quality of its gameplay, there are a couple of other more troubling controversies that have nothing to do with the bugs.

Last year, a few months before the title was released, CD Projekt RED was reportedly mandating crunch time to its employees. Not only that, CD Projekt RED’s co-founder Marcin Iwinski released a supposed apology that brushed over some of Cyberpunk 2077’s issues, including the discovery that the company only gave away PC codes to reviewers first in an effort to cover up the game’s actual state.

The fact that CD Projekt RED has a bunch of issues in and of itself is enough of a problem alone, but fans have to deal with all the bugs and glitches in Cyberpunk 2077 on top of it all—making them wonder if it’s even worth it to try and find the genuinely captivating game that’s supposedly hiding underneath the rough.

screenshot-www-youtube-com-2021-01-25-07_48_22

On the bright side, the studio is making good on its promise to prioritize and release stability updates and hotfixes for Cyberpunk 2077, and the first of many major patches was rolled out last week.

Unfortunately, the new update also introduced a brand-new glitch, and a game-breaking one at that. According to Kotaku, this bug is already pretty familiar to players. In previous versions of the game, there’s already an existing bug that can be found in the mission called “Down on the Street.” Specifically, Goro Takemura would fail to call the player character due to this particular bug, which consequently puts a stop to the player’s progress.

That bug may have been fixed, but this time around, the bug has evolved into something else—but the end results are still the same. Now, when Takemura calls, he doesn’t say anything at all and the call never gets completed because of it. As such, the mission doesn’t progress.

That being said, one fan found a workaround for this glitch. Specifically, Reddit user symtryx found a fix and posted it on the popular social site. Although it’s a bit convoluted, it does seem to work for some players.

"Wait a day for takemura to call" Stuck on phone bug FIX from cyberpunkgame

Thanks to helpful fans like symtryx, fans can go ahead and progress through the game. However, the fact that Cyberpunk 2077 has game-breaking glitches like this to begin with is undoubtedly troubling, to say the least.

At this point, it may be hard for CD Projekt RED to redeem itself. If it takes its sweet time working on fixes to ensure that everything has been set right, it would still receive backlash for taking so long in releasing necessary fixes. On the other hand, it would still receive criticism for rushing to release a fix that introduces even more game-breaking issues. Although, the former is arguably more preferable than the latter.
