Developer Techland Promises To Reveal Dying Light 2 Details In 2021

Developer Techland has been worryingly silent about the development progress of Dying Light 2, which has left many fans wondering if the game will be released at all. Fortunately, the developer has confirmed that “fresh updates” are coming regarding the highly-anticipated title and will most likely be revealed some time in 2021.

This sequel was initially revealed during the Microsoft E3 2018 press conference. Shortly after, Techland announced that it was expecting to release Dying Light 2 around Spring 2020, but obviously, this expectation could not be made possible.

The team working on the upcoming survival horror action RPG decided to push back its initial release date saying that it needed more time in order to attain the developer’s overall vision of what it wants the title to be. Since then though, Techland has remained mum and fans have been starved for information.

Earlier in the year, the website Polski Gamedev claimed that Dying Light 2 was reportedly in disarray and that the team working on it is disorganized. However, Techland quickly refuted the report by saying that the article was not correctly translated into English and that everything is in allegedly “good shape.” Fans will have to see that for themselves though once more information gets revealed next year.

According to DSOGaming, one of the Techland developers working on the franchise wrote on the Dying Light 2 Discord server promising that “fresh updates” about the game will be shared in 2021. The message was posted by a dev who goes by Uncy_Techland on the server, and the message partially says: “We’ve been, er, dying to update you all on how development has been going. We’ll have fresh updates about Dying Light 2 coming in the new year!”

If we’re being honest though, this kind of development isn’t much and it may not be enough to keep fans interested for long, especially considering how long Techland has remained silent about it. Still, the fact that the developer will finally reveal new information about Dying Light 2 gives us a bit of hope. Besides, it’s nice to know that it hasn’t forgotten about its fans just yet.

The only thing we’re wondering about now is when, exactly, will Techland share the new updates. We’re definitely curious to see how Dying Light 2 has changed and improved since the developer talked about it more or less a year ago.

In any case, there is still Dying Light-related content fans can dive into while patiently waiting for updates on the sequel. For one thing, Techland gave its fans a couple of reasons to revisit the original Dying Light game in the form of DLCs. The developer released the Hellraid DLC a couple of months ago, which is an arcade game mode based on another Techland project that has the same name.

Fans of Nintendo might not know exactly what 2021 will offer, with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2’s launch date still uncertain and several games not yet revealed. The latest Kirby game to be released was Kirby Fighters 2 on the Nintendo Switch back in September. Perhaps more than any other Nintendo series, Kirby is an experimental franchise. Koei Tecmo Shuts Down Official Websites After Falling Victim to a Cyber Attack

It appears that the European branch of renowned publisher Koei Tecmo, popularly known for titles such as Nioh and Dynasty Warriors, has been an unfortunate victim of a cyberattack, which has caused the company to shut down its official American and European websites in an effort to curb the attack.

Developer and publisher Capcom was also a victim of a ransomware attack last month, but it doesn’t look like Koei Tecmo’s situation is as critical as that. The Capcom hack was definitely a big one, as the personal details of the company’s employees, as well as other sensitive information concerning the company, were leaked.

Ever since that fateful day, a myriad of information surfaced online, including Capcom’s future plans and details about certain games. For instance, character and plot details for the highly-anticipated Resident Evil 8 were leaked due to that cyberattack. Not only that, games that Capcom has yet to announce were revealed as well, which has left fans wondering what the company will do and how it will attempt to unveil the leaked information in the future.

In a report by DualShockers, Koei Tecmo revealed that the company’s European branch experience a cyberattack. Because of this, it’s highly possible that over 65,000 user accounts registered on Koei Tecmo’s official European forums may be in jeopardy.

An investigation has been conducted and apparently, the sensitive information that were most likely put at risk include mail addresses, account names, and passwords — although the last one is reportedly in an “encrypted state.” On the bright side, the conducted investigation confirms that credit card details and similar information were not compromised.

To try and control the situation, Koei Tecmo has indefinitely closed down its official websites for both the American and European branches. If you go ahead and visit the website, you will only be greeted with a plain white page that has an error message on it that goes: “Due to the possibility of an external cyberattack on this website, it is temporarily closed as we investigate the issue.”

That being said, this cyberattack is still shrouded in mystery and not a lot of information about it has been revealed. Although, one theory states that the hacking took place on December 25.

While it may be as severe as the ransomware attack that hit Capcom, it’s still unfortunate that such a thing has befallen Koei Tecmo. On the bright side though, employees and users can rest easy knowing that their sensitive and personal information will not be leaked for the entire internet’s perusal.

However, it’s highly recommended that those who use Koei Tecmo’s websites, whether European or American, should update their log-in details as soon as possible.

This is definitely such an unfortunate way for Koei Tecmo to end the year, especially since the company had a relatively successful 2020. For one thing, Nioh 2, which was developed by one of Koei Tecmo’s subsidiaries known as Team Ninja, was released for the PlayStation 4 earlier this year. Players traversing the open world of Cyberpunk 2077 have discovered an incomplete section of the map that sends their characters falling into an endless abyss. New Footage of Monster Hunter Rise Shopkeepers Revealed

Seeing as there are only a few months left before Monster Hunter Rise gets officially released, Capcom has been steadily sharing and revealing more details about the upcoming game. In a recent announcement, the developer showcased three new NPCs that fans will encounter in the game, namely Kagero, Hamon, and Kisaki.

As shopkeepers, they will be able to offer new items, gear, or resources to the players. Of course, these won’t be given for free though — players have to purchase these items first. Hamon was showcased by Capcom in the past via concept art, but now the developer shared footage that shows what he would look like in-game for the first time.

That being said, here’s a little breakdown of the different shopkeeper NPCs and what they can offer you. First and foremost is Kagero, who players will meet in Monster Hunter Rise’s Kamura Village. Although Capcom didn’t really specify what kind of items Kagero will be selling, many speculate that the stock he has on offer won’t be too different from the shopkeepers found in the previous titles.

If this is the case, then Kagero will most likely sell consumable items such as barrel bombs and potions. In addition to that, players should expect to find coatings and ammo as well that are tailor-fit for ranged weapons. If players have enough zenny, then they can easily purchase these items from the shopkeeper without having to put in a lot of effort just to craft them themselves.

Hamon, on the other hand, functions as a blacksmith. After successfully completing a hunt, players would typically find themselves looting a variety of materials and resources from the felled monster. If the player has a certain gear in mind, then they can take these materials to Hamon so that he can create new weapons and armor out of them or perhaps upgrade the ones that the player already has in their inventory.

With regards to the weapons and armor, Capcom has actually been sharing short clips on the official Monster Hunter Rise Twitter and YouTube account that showcase the different weapons available in the game as well as the various armor and weapon designs that players can look forward to.

That being said, Hamon’s job as a blacksmith only caters to the hunters. As such, he’s not responsible for crafting items for the different animal companions. This is where the third NPC, Kisaki, comes in.

One thing that sets Kisaki apart from its fellow NPC shopkeepers is the fact that it’s a felyne. In Monster Hunter World, players could go to the blacksmith to get a myriad of items crafted and forged, whether it’s meant for the player or for the animal companion. This is no longer the case with Monster Hunter Rise, however.

This wouldn’t be the first time that a Monster Hunter title had separate shopkeepers for companion armor, though. The entries before World used this kind of approach and it appears that Rise is revisiting it.

The only difference this time around is that Kisaki will not only craft equipment for the hunter’s palico companion but for the palamute as well. It may be a hassle to have to go to different NPCs, but it’s a positive change in the long run as it declutters the menu when choosing something to forge.

PlatinumGames Shares Development Update of Bayonetta 3

More than three years have already passed since The Game Awards 2017, which is when Nintendo first announced Bayonetta 3. Information has been scarce since then, and fans were left to dissect and formulate theories out of the initial teaser trailer.

Now that 2020 is almost ending, there’s still not a lot of information about the upcoming Nintendo Switch-exclusive game, such as details on what interested players can expect once it’s released. On the bright side, PlatinumGames’ Hideki Kamiya recently shared another development update to the fans, reassuring them that everything is well and going smoothly.

Kamiya recently had an interview with Famitsu (via Gematsu), where he confirmed that the studio is still working on Bayonetta 3 and that its development is “going very well.” He’s aware of the fans’ growing concerns about the game due to the fact that there hasn’t been a lot of updates since its initial reveal. However, he guarantees that  “verifications of new systems have been going great.”

Bayonetta 3’s release date is up in the air as well, and fans can only speculate. There were rumors in the past that led fans to believe that the game would be launched in 2018. When that year passed by in a blur, fans began expecting it to release in 2019. As excited fans can see, that wasn’t the case either.

When PlatinumGames said that it would reveal big announcements in 2020, fans were crossing their fingers that Bayonetta 3 would be released some time this year. Sadly, there’s only a few days left of 2020 and still no sign of the hack and slash’s third installment.

However, if the game’s development really is going as well and as seamlessly as Kamiya says, then perhaps we can expect the studio to reveal Bayonetta 3’s release date by 2021. In the meantime, Nintendo Switch fans have been given the chance to revisit the series while waiting.
