Being a Nintendo Switch Online subscriber has always had its perks, and we doubt that this will change anytime soon. In fact, subscribers who live in North America will soon be given the chance to play Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled for free for a limited time only.

For those who are unfamiliar, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is an intense yet fun-filled kart racing video game that features characters from the highly-beloved Crash Bandicoot series.

Fun fact: the Nintendo Switch is actually the very first console from Nintendo that requires its users to become members of a paid subscription service in order to avail of the platform’s online services. The downside is that this offer is only available to those members who live in Canada, Mexico, and the United States. The game’s free trial will run from December 30, 2020 through January 5, 2021, so interested subscribers should definitely take note!

It’s worth mentioning that there’s a difference between a demo and a free trial. A demo places restrictions on the game itself so that players who test it out won’t have access to the complete experience.

On the other hand, a free trial — which is the case for Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled — offers the full version of the game to players, even the local and multiplayer co-op features. The catch is that it won’t be available for free forever, and players can either choose to purchase the game or leave it be.

If we use the previous free trials as a basis, then it’s highly possible that Nintendo will offer the full Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled game at a discounted price during the trial just in case players have fun with it and decide to purchase the complete game.

Amazon UK and US Bestselling Games of 2020 Revealed

As one of the world’s biggest retailer, it is always eye-opening whenever Amazon announces its yearly video game sales. In a lot of ways, it shows what fans have been most interested in all throughout the year. As Amazon just revealed its 2020 sales numbers for the UK and the US, Nintendo showed up big, as did FIFA 21 and Cyberpunk 2077.

The bestselling game in both the UK and the US should not be a surprise. It was Animal Crossing New Horizons which broke tons of records all over the world. The game dominated the whole year in which gamers acknowledged a video game that let them explore the outdoors, talk to friends, capture critters, and participate in fun-loving and good-natured activities. The retail edition of Animal Crossing New Horizons took the number one spot on the list, and the digital edition took the number five position.

The second bestselling game in the US was also released by Nintendo which is the critically acclaimed Super Mario 3D-All Stars. One thing that could be adding to the sales is the limited-time nature of the game.

The game will no longer be available for sale on March 31, 2021, so Nintendo fans interested in getting the game need to act fast. The next few games on the list were more Nintendo titles that came out a few years ago including Mario Kart 8 Deluxe at the number three spot and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate at number four.

The first game not from Nintendo on the US list is Cyberpunk 2077 at number six, perhaps the most popular but also the largest controversy of the year. To enter the list while only being launched in the last month of the year is very remarkable.

Of course, it is possible that preorders had something to do with its success, with a lot of purchases coming months in advance. The only other non-Nintendo title on the US list is The Last of Us Part 2 which held the ninth position.

Between the UK and US list, Nintendo dominated on both. The aforementioned Nintendo games crossed over on both lists, but Hyrule Warrior Age of Calamity, Just Dance 2021 on Switch, Ring Fit Adventure, and the Switch edition of Minecraft all made appearances.

The final list in the UK was a little more diversified. The bestselling game was still Animal Crossing New Horizons, but the top two game was FIFA 21, and with sales numbers being incredibly high, two editions of the game entered the top ten on both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night Confirms Classic Mode In Upcoming Update

It has been officially confirmed by the developers that the next free update coming to Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night will include the long-awaited Classic Mode. The metroidvania type game was first funded through the Kickstarter platform, and fans were looking forward to it partly because Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night marked Koji Igarashi’s return to “Igavania.”

On the other hand, the team developing the 2019 title promised that fans would be able to enjoy post-launch content, and they didn’t disappoint. The months after the game’s launch saw the release of several updates, one of which introduced Bloodless as a playable character.

Other updates added a randomizer for those fans who enjoy replaying the game a couple of times, a Boss Revenge mode that introduced four boss characters that are playable, and a color wheel to assist players with character customization.

That being said, there are two more modes that are heading to Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, which will surely boost the game’s replayability. First up, we have the VS Mode, which doesn’t offer the typical 1v1 experience that players would expect from this kind of mode.

To spice things up and keep things interesting, players can match with others via local or online where they are placed in an environment where they have to survive. Participants will have to find a way to cause damage to the other players as they explore the massive castle.

On the other hand, there’s Bloodstained’s Chaos Mode. Don’t be fooled by its name though —  it is simple and straightforward. It’s essentially a boss rush type of game mode wherein players can obtain randomized pickups. There’s also a variety of subgoals in order for them to earn more items and equipment.

It has already been confirmed that these two modes will go live some time during the first half of 2021. In other news, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night also has a Classic Mode that’s expected to release soon, specifically during the first month of the new year.

The announcement was made on the game’s official Twitter account last week. Expected to launch in January 2021, Bloodstained’s Classic Mode takes both the player and the game itself back to the 1980s, where the franchise took inspiration from a popular 2D action game.

This format of gameplay will be familiar to most retro gamers. Classic Mode has players controlling the character called Miriam, charging through five different levels containing powerful demons and monsters. The gameplay follows a linear 2D path, so there’s no need to worry about getting lost.

Classic Mode offers players three difficulty levels, and if the mode lives up to its retro gaming inspirations, then fans will definitely need to consider adjusting its difficulty if needed.

That being said, this wouldn’t be the first time that Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night returned to its Castlevania roots. Previously, Inti Creates made 2D sprite-based versions of Bloodstained that served as a companion to Metroidvania. That was definitely interesting and the spin-off series that was created out of it was commendable.

Fortnite Adding Weapon Attachments Soon – Leaker

It goes without saying that Fortnite is not a stranger to leaks, as it appears almost every other day a new upcoming event or feature is speculated to be arriving to the hit free-to-play battle royale title. While many may consider rumors and leaks to be unfavorable to the success of a game, others may say that it helps build excitement for what a game has next in-store, and the continuous success of developer Epic Games’ popular battle royale can be considered evidence of just that.

Fortnite has allowed its players to experiment with a massive collection of items over the past years, from the usual assault rifles, shotguns, and pistols, to the crazier Big Chill weapons and Pumpkin Launcher. As the title is consistently introducing new content in order to keep it as fresh as possible, another new feature has been leaked possibly involving weapon customization has fans hyped for what’s to come.

In spite of the recent leaks of a bizarre Gnome Gunsand, even more details on weapons seem to have emerged. On Twitter, reputable and famous Fortnite leaker HYPEX revealed that it seems that a new “Weapon Mod Slots” mechanic is currently in the works by the Fortnite development team at Epic Games.

While what this new feature leads to isn’t totally sure for the time being, there are a few theories as to what exactly this possible new feature could mean. One theory is that the developers will allow its players the opportunity to equip their weapons with particular attachments like adding a scope to a pistol, or adding a silencer to an assault rifle while inside the game, essentially removing the need for dedicated weapons such as the Suppressed Pistol.

Some fans are also speculating that this new feature could allow players to customize weapons in ways that provide them certain abilities and perks. Players have emphasized that this seems rather likely, as this is a feature that was included in Fortnite’s poorly received Save The World mode, which let players craft customized weapons to their liking.

2020 has been an incredible year for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, with the game receiving numerous new content for fans to enjoy. Prince of Persia Remake For PS5 Upgrade Path Announced

Players who will buy the Prince of Persia The Sands of Time Remake on the Xbox One or PlayStation 4 will have access to a free next-gen upgrade, as announced by an update made on the Ubisoft Store. The publisher finally revealed the remake back in September during a much-awaited Ubisoft Forward event. Such a revelation came on the heels of a long cycle of leaks and rumors, many of which have since been proven precisely.

In many elements, the announcement wasn’t at all what fans came to anticipate. Noticeably, the reveal trailer for Prince of Persia The Sands of Time Remake featured graphics that failed to meet those of a great standard.

This resulted in bad fan feedbacks, which forced Ubisoft to delay the game out of its originally scheduled January 2021 launch to March. And just recently, the publisher hadn’t made any announcements about what Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 owners could expect with regards to the return of Prince of Persia.

As reported by a ResetEra user, the listing for the Prince of Persia remake on the Ubisoft Store recently got updated to reflect that owners of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 SKUs will be able to upgrade to the next-gen edition without paying anything extra.

A short note on the game’s listing states that “Purchase Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One and upgrade your game to the next-gen version (PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X) at no additional cost.”

As of writing, there is no word as to whether or not the free next-gen upgrade will also translate to enhanced graphics for the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. Additionally, Ubisoft has yet to verify how precisely it plans to enhance upon what was initially shown in the reveal trailer of the remake.

Intriguingly, though, a comment from Syed Abbas, Ubisoft India’s Managing Director, mentioned that the poorly received visuals were actually a choice of style. “It was not a problem of timeline or budget,” Abbas revealed in an interview with The Mako Reactor.

The March 2021 Prince of Persia release will close out a huge fiscal year for Ubisoft. By then, the French game publisher will have launched highly anticipated titles such as Watch Dogs Legion, Immortals Fenyx Rising, and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla since the beginning of its 2020-2021 fiscal year back in April.

Once the fiscal calendar starts in April 2021, the company aims to kick off their plans of releasing new games including Rainbox Six Quarantine and Far Cry 6, both of which were postponed a few weeks ago.

Fans Speculate That Poison Ivy May Be Featured In Gotham Knights As A Villain

Information about Gotham Knights has been scarce since its reveal except for the odd interview here and there. Since 2021 is just around the corner, however, fans can start expecting a wave of information to come in the forthcoming months.

For now, WB Games Montreal via the official Gotham Knights Twitter account has left us a little surprise for the holidays in the form of a festive image wishing the fans a Happy Holidays. Since the excited fans barely have anything concrete to hold onto, they have begun analyzing the image for possible clues or any kind of information about the upcoming game.

For instance, fans have begun speculating that the image has discreetly hidden the game’s release date through the Flying Graysons poster. On the other hand, others believe that the dates on the poster could just mean that WB Games Montreal plans on revealing a major announcement on that day or perhaps a trailer.

There’s another theory that was derived from that image though, and that’s the possibility of Gotham Knights featuring a fan-favorite villain. According to ComicBook.com, the Flying Graysons poster mentions that the circus will be situated in Robinson Park while it’s in Gotham.

Now, those who have been fans of the DC Universe for a long time know that Robinson Park has been Poison Ivy’s base of operations in the previous comic books. So if this speculation is correct and Poison Ivy really will be included in Gotham Knights, then perhaps Robinson Park will be where the players will go in order to fight her.

Since Gotham Knights is set in, well, Gotham, it’s not hard to speculate that it will feature a long list of villains that Batman had to contend with. Poison Ivy is arguably one of the most popular villains in the area, so it would make sense for her to star in the game.

That being said, it’s worth mentioning that WB Games Montreal hasn’t confirmed anything just yet regarding this and for now, everything is purely theoretical and should therefore be regarded with a pinch of salt. After all, there’s always the possibility that this poster means nothing at all and the developer just wanted to randomly include it for aesthetic purposes.

As far as official announcements go, WB Games Montreal has only revealed a handful of villains for Gotham Knights. Included in this list are Talon, Mr. Freeze, and the Court of Owls. A gameplay video of Gotham Knights was previously showcased where the characters faced off against Mr. Freeze, but there was no such footage for the other confirmed antagonists.

In that case, it’s safe to assume that WB Games Montreal will most likely do a couple reveals as well as share more details about the highly-anticipated title in the upcoming months, especially since we’re drawing closer and closer to Gotham Knights’ release window with every passing day.

Steam, the famous online video game retailer, has had its most successful Christmas day sale yet, with a massive increase in players from 2019 to this year. The tracking system managed by Valve for Steam revealed that on Christmas Day, there were almost 23 million concurrent Steam users just before 7 AM PT. The day after Christmas displayed even higher numbers, hitting almost 25 million concurrent players on the 26th and 27th.

Call of Duty Mobile is a Huge Hit in China

Call of Duty Mobile has finally been authorized to launch in China. Activision and Tencent began the long authorization process last October of 2019, reworking the mobile game so that it fits China’s standards. The title was finally approved by the Chinese government in August of this year, and Call of Duty Mobile was released on Christmas Day, December 25, 2020, to a massive number of excited fans.

The availability of Call of Duty Mobile’s Chinese version was revealed through its official Weibo page, which is one of China’s biggest social media platforms. Since its official launch last week, the game already reached over 300 million downloads — this number still doesn’t include the new outpour of Chinese gamers.

In addition to that, early reports state that there were more than 70 million pre-registrations from China leading to Call of Duty Mobile’s official release. This will definitely provide a significant boost to the game’s population, which was already massive to begin with.

In celebration of the game’s release in China, developer Tencent released a brand-new trailer. This isn’t just any trailer though, it’s a live-action one featuring local Chinese celebrities. It’s a great concept because it showcases Call of Duty Mobile and everything it has to offer while providing viewers and fans with familiar faces to look at.

The game getting launched in China officially makes Call of Duty Mobile a worldwide mobile title. In other words, fans from all over the globe can play with or against each other as long as a supported device is used. Players will need a strong internet connection in order to play though, but asides from that, it’s essentially a free to play mobile game with a little bit of in-app purchases available.

Even though Call of Duty Mobile isn’t as popular as the other main titles in the Call of Duty franchise, it can’t be argued that the mobile title is quickly on its way to becoming a billion-dollar game. Compared to the other Call of Duty games, this mobile version takes all the positive and well-received elements of the other entries and seamlessly blends them all together into one game.

Call of Duty Mobile players are treated to a variety of new and exciting content as the mobile title continues to grow — from seasonal holiday events to a dynamic battle pass system. The game recently launched Season 13, which has also introduced new content and features.

Now that a massive number of Chinese fans have joined the fray, we’re definitely excited to see how this official global launch will impact Call of Duty Mobile and its development. That being said, it’s worth mentioning that the Chinese version of the mobile title does have a few differences.

This isn’t surprising though, since most if not all games that get released in China have to make sure that they fit into the country’s cultural standards first before the community of fans can play them.

As a matter of fact, other popular titles such as PUBG and Fortnite also have Chinese versions that have been altered to comply with the government’s rules and regulations. In any case, we’re sure that the game wasn’t altered too much to affect its gameplay.
