Nintendo Switch Hits Milestone Breaking Sales This October Ahead of Next-Gen Releases

The Nintendo Switch continues its colossal success in the United States with another huge month as it posts its most powerful October sales yet, only several days before the release of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The Nintendo Switch has been extremely successful for the Japanese gaming giant since it was released back in 2017. In August, the console outperformed the lifetime sales of the NES and is on its way to surpass the sales of the Nintendo 3DS. The Switch has also exceeded the lifetime sales of its most recent predecessor, the Wii U, which was treated as a relative failure for Nintendo.

This year has been specifically successful for the Switch, partly due to the lockdowns and quarantines enforced in relation to the existing global pandemic. A few months ago, the Nintendo Switch faced supply shortage problems amidst rising console sales thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, and some of its games, such as Animal Crossing New Horizons, witnessed immense popularity, surpassing sales expectations to sell more than 22 million copies and becoming the second bestselling title on the Nintendo Switch behind Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

In a news release from Nintendo, the company states that the Switch sold more than 735,000 units in the United Sales solely in October. According to the statement, it’s the second-highest October sales of any video game console ever, with the first being the sales of the Wii back in October 2008, which totaled to more than 807,000 units.

The October sales of the Nintendo Switch marks the 23rd successive month that the console held its spot as the bestselling video game console in the United States. In addition, the Switch has sold over 22.5 million units in the United States since its launch, while it has sold over 63 million units all over the world.

It appears like Nintendo is setting up for a successful November as well as it revealed a new Switch bundle exclusively for Black Friday. Aside from the console itself, the new bundle includes a free download code for the digital edition of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe along with a three-month membership for Nintendo Switch Online, which will let owners play online, just for $299.99. Those who want to avoid the chaos on Black Friday will be able to purchase the bundle earlier than the yearly sale event as it will already be available beginning November 22.

jbareham_180301_2346_nintendo_switch_0034_mario-0-3886198

The success of the Nintendo Switch has apparently revived Nintendo after it struggled with the Wii U for a couple of years. The success of the Switch can be credited to its hybrid nature, being both a home console as well as portable.

While the Nintendo Switch still has a lot of ways to go before it catches up with the company’s other bestselling consoles of all time, the Game Boy and Wii, but it’s absolutely on the right track to do that will all the milestones it is achieving.

Fortnite Last Laugh Bundle Featuring Joker and Poison Ivy Leaked

maxresdefault-3-9

The reveal trailer for Fortnite’s most awaited Last Laugh Bundle consisting of Midas Rex, Poison Ivy, and The Joker skins have been leaked before the bundle is scheduled to release.  These DC antagonist skins were revealed a few months ago, and this new clip provides fans a glimpse at what they can expect when Poison Ivy and The Joke run unrestrained in the streets of Fortnite.

The Last Laugh Bundle was revealed last August, three months before its expected release. This retail bundle will include two of the most heinous villains in the DC universe – Poison Ivy and The Joker. The bundle also contains a new Midas skin, an array of other cosmetics, and a thousand V-Bucks.

The bundle will be available for purchase digitally and physically for console owners. However, Epic Games has yet to confirm how mobile and PC players will be able to buy this new bundle.

As is tradition when Fortnite launches a new exclusive skin bundle, the contents of the bundle are flaunted in a trendy cinematic video trailer. This was also the case when the X-Force skins were launched, and has been the case for the beginning of each season.

While the trailer typically airs on the day the skins are launched, the Last Laugh Bundle’s trailer has been leaked ahead of schedule. Thanks to reputable Fortnite leaker iFireMonkey, the trailer for the new bundle has been uploaded on Twitter. It showcases Midas Rex, Poison Ivy, and The Joker in action and also provides a glance at several additional cosmetic items.

However, even fans that do not plan to buy the bundle have something to take away from the trailer – the C4 bomb seems to be making a return to Fortnite. The immense explosive power of the C4 has been taken out of the game for a while, but it seems safe to conclude that it will be making a comeback on November 17.

The leaked Last Laugh Bundle trailer featured more of the bomb being used than it did of the DC characters. DC fans will be excited as they have recently been overwhelmed with Marvel skins but expert Fortnite players will definitely be delighted or saddened by the return of the C4.

Having several of the most popular superheroes from Marvel make their appearances in the game has been great, but there are also a lot of DC characters that would be amazing to have joined the massive roster of skins. The Flash, Martian Manhunter, and Superman would make interesting additions to Fortnite, but for now, DC enthusiasts should be satisfied receiving a couple of villain skins. It will be exciting to witness how The Avengers will face Batman’s greatest enemies.

Nintendo Asks Fans For Their Legend of Zelda Preferences

It appears that Nintendo has been asking fans about their Legend of Zelda preferences. Whether they prefer the 2D games over the 3D ones, or which musical piece they think is the most relaxing, Nintendo wants to know the fanbase’s thoughts.

A few hours ago, the official Twitter account for Nintendo of America has shared a series of polls, and most of them don’t seem to be that interesting except for the one that asks if fans prefer 2D or 3D.

Ever since Nintendo released Ocarina of Time, the first Legend of Zelda game with 3D graphics, the company began releasing a series of 3D games for the franchise such as Wind Waker and Breath of the Wild.

However, a couple of 3D titles that have a top-down perspective were also released, such as Phantom Hourglass and the more recent remake of Link’s Awakening.

So far, the results are significantly varied. At the time of writing, 81.1% of the 38,435 votes went for 3D while only 18.9% voted for 2D. That being said, there’s a small chance that the company is trying to gauge the fans’ interests for potential Legend of Zelda titles.

However, the more realistic reason is that Nintendo probably just wanted some fan interaction to take place, all while promoting its Nintendo Power podcast. The said podcast was even mentioned on the posted tweet itself.

Nintendo also posted two follow-up polls underneath the first one. The second poll asks fans which song from the Legend of Zelda franchise is the best piece to relax to. So far, out of the 40,077 votes, Zelda’s lullaby is winning with 45.6% while the Sun’s Song comes last with 3.7%.

As for the other options, Epona’s Song has 23.8% of the votes while Song of Time took 27%. The Legend of Zelda franchise has always been known for having superb soundtracks.

The last poll has to do with the game’s weapons, more specifically, if players find it more satisfying to defeat enemies with a bow or sword. If you’re a long-time Legend of Zelda fan, you know that these two are Link’s most common weapons, with the Master Sword being his signature weapon.

wallpaper-7-thumb-2633611

Unsurprisingly, the sword option is, so far, winning by a long shot with 69.8% of the votes. It’s fun to assume that maybe Nintendo would bring back Link’s Crossbow Training, one of the franchise’s side games, if the bow was winning. But then again, the company is probably just looking for fan engagement on its official American Twitter account.

That being said, many fans are looking forward to the next main installment in the Zelda series, namely the direct sequel to the highly-acclaimed Breath of the Wild. It was such a well-received game that many consider it to be one of the best Legend of Zelda games out there.

However, the 2D entries in the franchise are also pretty good, and it wouldn’t do anyone good to discredit that. The Zelda series probably wouldn’t be the way it is now without starting off as tiny pixels on a screen, starting with the initial Legend of Zelda game from 1986.

Whether 2D or 3D, Zelda games always have a unique charm to them, and these polls are great reminders of just how enjoyable its series of games are.

The Last Of Us 2 Will Support PlayStation 5 DualSense Controller’s Haptic Feedback

The PlayStation 5 releases today in the United States and while excited fans wait for their consoles to arrive, startling updates have been appearing regarding its critically acclaimed DualSense controller. It appears The Last of Us Part 2, a game launched on the PlayStation 4 with no official PlayStation 5 updates revealed as of writing, is already utilizing the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback technology to improve its gameplay on Sony’s next-gen machine. Naughty Dog’s’ sequel to the well-praised The Last of Us game came out a few months ago on the PlayStation 4 and was a massive financial success for the Sony-owned gaming studio.

Shockingly, the sun set last September 26 – a day that Naughty Dog commemorates annually because of its relation to the game’s lore – without any statements on whether the sequel would be enhanced for the PlayStation 5. However, Naughty Dog’s Vice President Neil Druckmann did give fans a puzzling message suggesting that there will be more details coming in the future, which many guessed might be a reference to its multiplayer mode.

Though there are still no official announcements that The Last of Us Part 2 is being optimized for the PlayStation 5, reports from various gaming websites explains how the game is utilizing next-gen technology to its advantage.

While running the game in backward compatibility mode on the PlayStation 5, players noticed how the DualSense controller is enhancing the game’s gameplay experience. The bow is one of the most used examples to depict the method haptic feedback would work, so it comes as no surprise that this weapon in The Last of Us Part 2 feels a bit unique when utilizing it using the DualSense controller.

Reports mention the notable tension the player will be able to feel in the DualSense triggers while pulling back the bow in preparation for a shot. However, the bow is not the only thing that feels different.

ps5_dualsense_haptic-9102388

It appears that shooting other weapons in The Last of Us Part 2 results in a fulfilling react and even driving a motorboat causes the next-gen controller to rumble just like the boat’s engine. The DualSense also receives praise for the way it alerts players that they have hit an obstacle as well as how it changes its light effects to match particular elements of the game. In addition, God of War receives a quick mention of the effect of the Leviathan ax returning to Kratos’ hands and the way the controller moves when he opens his shield.

With the PlayStation 5 already on its way into the hands of fans, it is interesting to still be receiving unforeseen updates, especially about such a high-quality game like The Last of Us Part 2. The PlayStation 5’s DualSense controller could have been the upcoming generation’s latest gimmick, but it appears to add real substance to the gameplay. Developers and reviewers have been singing praises to the DualSense controller and fans will soon get their turn to witness what the PlayStation 5’s controller brings to the table.

Xbox Series X Owners Already Reporting Weird, Loud Noises From Console

0
xboxseriesxtech_inline1

Less than 24 hours after its release, the Xbox Series X owners are already reporting bizarre loud noises coming from the next-gen console, and some seem to be downright defective. After some really trendy theatrics commemorating the release of the consoles, the Xbox Series X is now being criticized to have more than its fair share of problems as reported by owners on Twitter.

It goes without saying that 2020 has been a year composed of almost totally of less fortunate situations for both PlayStation and Xbox as both next-gen consoles have been reported of having their own distinct set of problems lately such as the Xbox Live crashing on release day for the Xbox Series X|S and the PlayStation 5 proven to be susceptible to overheating problems in the incorrect situations.

Not to be surpassed, the Xbox Series X has been reported by various Twitter users making weird noises, supposedly not taking in discs. ScottJamison313 tweeted a video last Monday evening, just before the console’s official release, that featured the Xbox Series X making consistent fast-paced chirping sounds. Hours after Microsoft’s next-gen console’s release day, RWillows posted a video featuring the same problem.

However, the most controversial video came from drnickel, who documented his Xbox Series X not taking in discs, despite frequent attempts. It is uncertain if these problems are in any way related, but these clips are still not what gamers want to witness when trying out their next-gen purchase.

Specifically, in the case of drnickel, the only way to fix the problem is to have the console returned and have it replaced or repaired, and it calls the installation of the disc drive so near the system’s sidewall into question when Microsoft knew the machine would ultimately be packed up and sent off on nationwide and worldwide shipments.

Trying to get a new console replaced when supply is already scarce would most likely be annoying on its own, but consider the current global pandemic and the fact that there may be other owners with the same problem looking for a similar solution, and quickly the fix could become extremely difficult.

Hopefully, at least some of these problems can simply be explained or rectified by a software update from Xbox. The Xbox Series X is meant to be among us in years while providing top-tier performance, but these early videos might end up being a cause for worries. As of writing, Xbox has not issued any official statements regarding the videos.

It was also through the Florida Mutineers that the Henriquez family that Fero did not commit suicide. Fero started his career back in 2014 when he was invited to join Denial eSports. He then went on to team up with Team Kaliber, 100Thieves, Team Envy, and lastly the Florida Mutineers.

Respawn Offers Apex Legends Players With Double XP for a Limited Time Only

Apex Legends Season 7 was released last week, and fans have been enjoying the many new features and content that came along with it. For one thing, the popular battle royale title by Respawn Entertainment has received a brand-new map called Olympus, a new hero known as Horizon, as well as introduced the Trident Hovercar to the game.

Just like every new season, Apex Legends’ battle pass has also received a couple of changes, which has led to the dissatisfaction of many fans. More specifically, this controversy stems from the way the new battle pass now handles levels.

Players now have to do a variety of challenges within a week in order to accumulate stars. Once they gain 10 stars during that week, their battle pass will increase by 1 level. However, Apex Legends players have been experiencing a bug recently wherein only gathering 9 stars within the week will cause their battle pass to reset.

As a result, the 9 stars that they have painstakingly earned will be rendered unusable. As expected, frustrated players voiced out their anger directly to the game’s developer. Fortunately, Respawn Entertainment was quick to fix and address the issue.

Apex Legends now has a new update that has remedied the problem. In addition to that, Respawn Entertainment will be offering fans double the experience when playing to make up for the bug. This will only run for a limited time though, so players should grind as much as they can now.

That being said, Apex Legends has been hit with more bugs than usual ever since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Although fans are surely happy about this double XP reward, it’s understandable that having to deal with so many bugs can get rather frustrating.

As a matter of fact, even Season 6 had a ton of bugs and glitches, so much so that some players began to abuse these glitches to ensure victory. Consequently, Respawn Entertainment had to ban those accounts for the sake of fairness.

At the same time, we can’t blame the team behind Apex Legends because the pandemic has been hard on us all. These bugs and glitches probably went unnoticed due to the fact that Respawn Entertainment has been working from home to ensure safety.

screenshot-www-ea-com-2020-11-13-16_21_59

Apex Legends’ team of developers still continues to work hard despite the ongoing pandemic, but Respawn Entertainment has also prioritized the health and safety of its employees, which is always a good thing.

As a matter of fact, the game’s director Chad Grenier has stated that the company refuses to impose crunch time on its staff just so they can release new updates and content. Mandatory crunch time is a video game industry practice that has controversy surrounding it, which is why Cyberpunk 2077 received a lot of criticism for perpetuating the unhealthy practice.

At this point, it definitely feels like Respawn Entertainment is an ethical company that listens to its supporters while prioritizing its staff at the same time. Without a doubt, Respawn Entertainment will definitely reap the benefits of these good practices in the future.

Tokoyo: Tower of Perpetuity Launches In Steam Early Access

screenshot-www-youtube-com-2020-11-13-15_08_30

Developed by //commentout and published by Playism, Tokoyo: Tower of Perpetuity is now officially available as a part of Steam Early Access. It’s an adorable pixel game that features “light social elements.”

The 2D action-adventure game follows a character who has somehow gotten trapped inside of a tower. The thing is, it’s not that easy to reach the outside of the tower because its structure changes every 24 hours.

A lot of individuals have attempted to escape this dynamic tower, but most have failed. It’s your turn now to accept the challenge and see how far you can go within a day. The game follows real-world time, which means that the 24-hour timespan given before the tower changes will follow real-world time as well.

Players from all across the globe have to try and reach the top of the tower within a day or else the tower will shift. The tower’s traps and tricks change on a daily basis, so it would be useless to memorize its structure. In addition to that, you have other players to contend with at the same time, so vigilance is key.

The tower contains a variety of passageways and branches for players to go through. To make your gameplay experience even more exciting, you can try passing through different areas to see where it will lead or what differences may have taken place.

What makes Tokoyo: Tower of Perpetuity even more enjoyable is its customization options. Since you will be up against other players in real-time, you can freely customize and edit your character if you want to stand out among the rest.

There’s a variety of customization options available for your 2D sprite, such as colors, outfits, hairstyles, sparkles, and accessories. As previously mentioned, Tokoyo: Tower of Perpetuity has “light social elements,” which means that when a player’s character is eliminated, a gravestone will appear on the spot where they died.

Not only that, the player’s “last words” and “relics” will also appear on that same spot. This is definitely convenient for those players who don’t know where the danger lies, as the gravestone will indicate that a trap or something similar is very nearby.

screenshot-www-youtube-com-2020-11-13-15_09_01

More information regarding Tokoyo: Tower of Perpetuity’s Early Access state was revealed upon its release. More specifically, the team behind the adorable 2D game decided to release the title in Early Access after receiving the demo’s feedback during the Steam Game Festival.

That being said, the developer is still asking the game’s supporters to give any additional feedback they may have so that it can be polished and refined to perfection before its full and official release.

In any case, purchasing the Early Access version of Tokoyo: Tower of Perpetuity will treat you to all of the main features of the game. Not only that, but you will also be able to customize your sprite and utilize the social features available in-game.

We expect that Tokoyo: Tower of Perpetuity will remain in Early Access at least until the Spring of 2021. The game’s price will also see an increase once it gets fully launched in order to match the complete features and content that will be added to the game.

Epic Games Store Reveals the Next Batch of Free Games

0
screenshot-www-youtube-com-2020-11-13-13_34_03

As you may or may not know, the Epic Games Store has been offering games for free on a weekly basis for a while now. Epic Games’ digital storefront has been growing, competing against Valve’s Steam, and these weekly offers are only helping it increase its numbers.

Now, Epic Games has revealed the two upcoming games that will be free to download on its online store beginning this November 19. As usual, downloading these free offers means that you will be able to access and play them at any time, as they are permanent downloads and not just free trials.

In other words, it works the same way as buying the game but the only difference is that you won’t have to spend a single cent on it. If you’re skeptical about the free game on offer, it’s still worth downloading and adding it to your library because there won’t be any negative consequences. Who knows, you might even end up liking it once you actually try it out.

The two games in question are The World Next Door and Elite Dangerous, which recently had free content released for the game. Interested players will be able to download these two games from November 19 at 11:00 EST through November 26 at 11:00 EST.

ss_1d3391a2f4ed9881012e76755c6ea984242ee538-1920x1080-8927185

Albeit two completely different games, both still provide players with enjoyable gameplay and unique fun. First up is Elite Dangerous, a flight simulator that takes you on a journey through space.

The multiplayer space experience was initially released in 2014, but developer Frontier Developments still continues to support and update the game. As a matter of fact, Elite Dangerous’s Odyssey expansion was the most recent one.

In this game, you play as a pilot who gets to explore an open-world space environment. There is a variety of spaceships you can choose from in Elite Dangerous, which you will be using in order to traverse the galaxy. In addition to that, these spacecrafts all have their own abilities and features.

Those who decide to grab a copy of Elite Dangerous will definitely enjoy so much content that’s worth many years.

ss_07d45a67e43d721b6a4502f9ea4d8eacffc3efd1-1920x1080-6354672

On the other hand, The World Next Door is an indie action-adventure that was released in 2019. Developed by Rose City Games, The World Next Door has uniquely mixed together puzzle-solving mechanics with visual novel-esque storytelling.

In this game, you will be following the journey of Jun, a teenage girl who was able to go to a parallel world called Emrys because she was able to win a lottery ticket. Now, it appears that Jun is trapped in this world full of magical creatures, and she needs to find a way home before it’s too late.

Despite coming from different genres, Elite Dangerous and The World Next Door are two titles that will take you on a journey outside of our very own planet.

That being said, we hope that Epic Games won’t be delaying the free release of these two titles once November 19 arrives, as last month’s free games were pushed back a little bit. In any case, Epic Games Store will give interested players a pretty long time period of one week, so players can download the games within that time.

Valorant Releases First Merch Line

Developer Riot Games has recently announced that its highly-acclaimed tactical first-person shooter Valorant now has its very first merch line available for players to purchase. The collection of products features clothing items that are themed around Valorant, such as sweatshirts and t-shirts.

All of these items are currently available on Riot Games’ online store, with a price range of about $30-$65. The new merch line was officially released yesterday, and most of the items highlight Valorant’s roster of Agents, with hints of the game’s first Episode called Ignition.

At the moment, the clothing line only has two t-shirts and three sweatshirts available for sale, but Riot Games previously sold a Valorant-themed hat on its merch store. The first apparel on sale is a unisex hoodie called “VALORANT Ignition,” which is priced at $65.

The white-colored hoodie has an image of Jett and Phoenix, two Valorant Agents, emblazoned in the center. There’s also a fine-print text on the image showing the Agents’ respective in-game roles, among other information.

The sides of the hoodie contain more printed designs, while the hem features a tag of Valorant’s logo. At the back of the hoodie, you’ll find a print of the word “FIRE” with a Korean text on top of it, representing Jett’s home country.

There’s also another pullover hoodie available, as well as another similarly-designed zip-up hoodie. Both of these products are listed as “VALORANT PRTCL.” Both are priced at $65 as well, and tout a navy blue color with minimalist designs.

The pullover hoodie has “VLRNT” written on the front as a centerpiece of the whole look, but the hood features multilingual text while “VALORANT” is embellished on the arm. On the other hand, the zip-up version has a small piece of text written on the front which indicates that it is included in the “classified” Ignition protocol.

When used, the zip-up hoodie has “VLRNT PRTCL” written on the back. The inside of the hood also has colorful yet minimalist designs, while the drawstrings and zippers of this specific item of clothing come in bright red.

screenshot-images-contentstack-io-2020-11-13-12_21_51

On the other hand, the Valorant-themed t-shirts are being sold at $30 each. The white “Valorant Agents Tee” showcases some of the game’s original playable characters with the text “VLRNT” printed on top.

Half of the characters are colored in red, while the other half is in black and white. Last but not least, the “Valorant PRTCL Tee” comes in black and has the full VALORANT name written on the front in yet another bright red color. If you view this shirt from the side, you will see “VLRNT PRTCL” written on the lower half of the shirt.

These are all the clothing items currently available in this collection, and Riot Games still hasn’t confirmed whether or not more apparel or other products will be included in the near future.

Valorant continues to rise above the ranks as a battle royale title. Even though the developer had to roll back and then redeploy the game’s 1.11 update recently, the fans’ dedication to the free-to-play title hasn’t wavered.
