Bethesda Confirms Deathloop Release Date in New Trailer

After Arkane Studios announced Deathloop during E3 2019, it garnered a huge following of fans that have been looking to its release since then. The first-person action-adventure title was initially given a 2020 release window, but it was unfortunately pushed back to 2021. Now, a new trailer has been dropped by its publisher Bethesda Softworks, giving excited fans an official release date.

The launch date reveal trailer was published on Bethesda’s YouTube channel earlier today, and it showcases more of Deathloop’s gameplay along with the release date. According to the trailer, fans will finally be able to experience Deathloop on May 21, 2021 as it launches for the PC and PlayStation 5.

Although, dedicated fans who have been keeping tabs on this game may have already known this fact before the trailer’s release, as Deathloop’s release date was recently leaked by New Zealand’s PlayStation Store.

Asides from confirming the official release date, Bethesda also announced that pre-ordering Deathloop will offer a few bonuses. More specifically, those who pre-order the game will be given a trinket that serves as a character buff, Colt’s “Storm Rider” skin, as well as a Royal Protector Machete. The latter is said to be a PlayStation 5 exclusive.

As previously mentioned, Bethesda Softworks and Arkane Studios had initial plans to release Deathloop some time this year. However, it was decided that the game’s release would be postponed after its presentation during the PlayStation 5 event last June.

The culprit for Deathloop’s delay is said to be the COVID-19 pandemic, which doesn’t come as a surprise because countless other games have been delayed this year due to the same reason. Other video game titles that have been affected by the pandemic include the Ghost of Tsushima and The Last of Us Part 2.

If you’re unfamiliar, Deathloop follows Colt and Julianna, two assassins who are both stuck on an island together. In addition to that, they’re both trying to kill one another. This premise may seem simple and uninteresting to some, but here’s the catch: Colt and Julianna are also stuck in a time loop, where they are forced to redo the same days.

From what we can see, it appears that Arkane Studios has implemented some of the gameplay mechanics found in its other popular titles such as Dishonored and Prey. Much to the fans’ surprise though, it was revealed during the PlayStation 5 event that Deathloop and Ghost Wire: Tokyo would only be released exclusively on the PS5.

This was definitely a huge move on Sony’s part to acquire two highly-anticipated third-party games for at least one full year. Although, Microsoft completely turned the tables around by acquiring ZeniMax Media and consequently Bethesda Softworks earlier this year for $7.5 billion.

That being said, a May 2021 release may be further than what fans expected or wanted. However, the developer can’t be blamed though because the coronavirus pandemic has hampered the development of a multitude of games.

On the bright side, this just means that 2021 will be jampacked with video game releases for the gaming community to enjoy.

Mojang Announces Start Date for Minecraft Dungeons Cross-Play

Even though Minecraft has been out since 2009, Mojang’s sandbox video game still continues to remain relevant in the gaming community. As a matter of fact, it has millions of active users across the globe even today.

Since the game’s launch all those years ago, Mojang has released a variety of DLCs, expansions, and even spin-off titles that are still set in the Minecraft universe. One such example is Minecraft Dungeons, an action-adventure game that’s heavily inspired by dungeon crawler classics.

That being said, the gaming world, in general, has seen the rise and fall of all kinds of trends. As the industry continues releasing newer and better games and consoles, who knows what kind of trend will see the light of day next?

One thing that has been receiving a lot of buzz recently is cross-play support. More and more titles have been implementing this feature as of late, and it appears that Mojang’s Minecraft Dungeons will be joining the party.

The developer already announced a few months ago that the game will be receiving cross-play support, and it seems that the feature finally has a release date which will be on November 17.

There’s more great news: Minecraft Dungeon’s cross-play will be able to support all platforms that support the title. In other words, friends who play the game on different platforms (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC) will still be able to hunt and loot together.

That being said, this feature won’t be limited to current-gen consoles, as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles are said to have backwards compatibility. As such, next-gen console users will also get the chance to play together with their group of friends.

This is an especially convenient feature to have during these trying times, as the coronavirus pandemic demands that we isolate ourselves and avoid physical social gatherings.

The release of Minecraft Dungeon’s cross-play support is pretty timely as well since the Howling Peaks DLC is scheduled to launch in December. Many fans assumed that Mojang would release the cross-play update at the same time as the upcoming DLC, but the developer decided to give the players an early taste of the feature instead.

Since the Howling Peaks expansion will bring to the table all kinds of new content such as new enemies, missions, and items, the option to team up with a few friends in order to make more progress in the game is definitely a much-welcomed inclusion.

Cross-platform play has become one of the most highly-requested features these days, especially when it comes to multiplayer or co-op games. When Sony announced that the PlayStation 4 will be utilizing cross-platform support on all its titles last year, it became quite clear that this feature plans to stay.

Retro-Inspired Platformer “Horned Knight” Gets Winter Release Window

Despite the technological advancements in recent video games, the gaming community will always have a soft spot for 2D and pixel art titles. This coming Winter, there will be another addition to the 2D platformer genre entitled Horned Knight.

Developed by Josep Monzonis Hernandez and to be published by 2Awesome Studio, Horned Knight is set to release on PC and various consoles some time during Winter. Meanwhile, the game’s Alpha Demo was released during the Steam Autumn Festival.

That being said, Horned Knight is heavily inspired by the “Golden Age of arcade gaming.” As a result, it features retro-style gameplay mechanics along with pixel graphics. You get to play as the Hero Knight in this game, as he traverses a castle that has been overrun with ghouls and the undead.

The Hero Knight sets off on his journey with a light load, only bringing with him his sword and his Horned Helmet.

Since Horned Knight is an action platformer title, you have to be really careful with where you move. Similar to other platformers, you can’t just move around all willy-nilly; every action made needs to be precise and well-calculated, as you jump across a variety of obstacles and enemies.

In addition to that, you also have to put into consideration the fact that the Hero Knight can climb up walls. To reiterate: timing is everything, even when it comes to using the Hero Knight’s sword.

Interested players will be able to binge this game for hours, as Horned Knight features four different worlds with over 30 levels overall. Each level will have a variety of monsters and creatures for you to contend with, along with major bosses.

The developer, Josep Monzonis Hernandez, once mentioned that Horned Knight will have intense boss battles along with difficult patterns for you to remember – perfect for those gamers who want more of a challenge.

That being said, Horned Knight has two different difficulty modes that you can attempt to master. The first mode makes the combat aspect of the game much easier so that you get the chance to enjoy the story as well as the castle’s environment.

On the other hand, those who want intense battles can turn to the hardcore difficulty setting, as even the most experienced of platform gamers will probably break a sweat with this one.

Moving on, you might come to notice that the Hero Knight only has a few heart pieces – three to be exact. As such, you really need to make sure that you hold onto these pieces as best as you can because the game will only get more difficult as you pass through each level.

Thankfully, Horned Knight has a lot of checkpoints scattered across the various worlds and levels, so you don’t have to worry about having to go too far back. Although, those who want to experience the harder difficulty mode might notice that there aren’t as many checkpoints.

In any case, the action-platformer has a pretty revitalizing soundtrack that will surely keep you hyped and energized as you make your way through the many obstacles.

Bandai Namco To Close Black Clover Phantom Knights’ Servers

We come bearing sad news: the servers for the Black Clover Phantom Knights mobile game will be coming to a close very soon. Bandai Namco recently announced this unfortunate news on all social media platforms, as well as the App Store, Play Store, and its official website.

When a game’s servers get closed, Japan is usually excluded from the list. However, it appears that this won’t be the case for this mobile title, as Black Clover Phantom Knights’ servers will be shut down across the globe.

Unfortunately, the developer and publisher Bandai Namco didn’t give an explanation as to why this unexpected closure will take place. The only information the company included in the game’s final message is the final date, along with a word of gratitude to those who supported the mobile game while it was still live.

Black Clover Phantom Knights is a mobile RPG directly based on the series entitled Black Clover by Yuki Tabata. Since it was highly successful as a manga series, it eventually got an anime adaption in 2017. A spin-off series followed after entitled Squishy! Black Clover.

If you’re unfamiliar with this series in general, Black Clover is about two orphans named Asta and Yuno. These two lived on the margins of the Clover Kingdom, which is a place where citizens are usually born with magic abilities.

Yuno grows up wielding powerful magic capabilities, while Asta was somehow born without any. The story sets off from there, with these two orphans doing everything they can to rise above the ranks of the Order of the Magic Knights.

While the Black Clover Phantom Knights mostly follows this storyline, it also has an original plot of its own, featuring familiar characters such as Asta, Noelle, and Yami. In addition to that, it features a brand-new character named Jien that’s completely original to the game.

Black Clover Phantom Knights is the type of roleplaying game wherein you have to defend your kingdom, while at the same time, you need to form the strongest Knights Brigade possible. As such, you are given free rein to choose which characters work best for your team, as you create strategies that ensure your victory.

The fun doesn’t end there, though: you can send out some of your brigade members to explore the kingdom. After their journey, the members you have deployed will bring back all kinds of items, some might even offer you hidden Dungeon Quests. Black Clover Phantom Knights was initially released in Japan’s app stores last 2018. Two years after, the mobile game’s English version was released in January of this year. Android users got to experience it first, while iOS users followed shortly after.

In other words, the title’s English release won’t even reach a year before the servers get shut down. In any case, fans have until December 9 to play the game as much as they want and to use up all their items before they have to say goodbye.

Ubisoft Apologizes For Ableist Language Found In Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, the twelfth major installment in Ubisoft’s highly-acclaimed Assassin’s Creed franchise, was finally released last November 10 to match the release of the Xbox Series S and X.

The game is set in 873 AD, and it’s all about the time when the British were invaded by the Vikings. As the player, you get to control the main protagonist named Eivor, a Viking raider who is in the middle of a conflict between the Templar Order and the Brotherhood of Assassins.

However, it appears that the title has already landed itself into a controversy despite the fact that it has only been out for more or less a day, and it’s all because of one line of dialogue found in the game.

The line of text in question was discovered by Courtney Craven, the founder of Can I Play That?, a highly-acclaimed games media outlet for disabled gamers by disabled gamers. There’s a section in the game that describes Eorforwine’s backstory, and this is what caught Craven’s eye.

The piece of writing talked about how the character was “horribly burned in a childhood accident” and as a result, she’s afraid that “someone will see her disfigured face.” That being said, Eorforwine is able to relieve her anger “with bursts of violence.”

After discovering this text, Craven took a screenshot and shared it on Twitter saying that even though they didn’t include it in their “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla impressions piece,” it’s still an important topic that needs to be talked about.

They emphasized the fact that it’s “absolutely unacceptable” to describe “facial differences” in that manner of phrasing. They then proceeded to call out game writers, stating that they “need to do better.”

In a follow-up tweet, Craven explained that their girlfriend, who is a burn victim, had spent “many years ashamed of her scars.” Rather unfortunately, Craven’s girlfriend was sitting beside them during that time when they came across the piece of writing.

Remembering the look on their girlfriend’s face upon reading the text, Craven states that they were “embarrassed” that the video game industry, which Craven loves, left this kind of negative impression on their partner.

The post garnered enough attention that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s official Twitter account came to notice Craven’s tweet. Ubisoft, through the game’s official Twitter, thanked Craven for calling them out on its mistake.

The developer also expressed regret for “unintentionally reinforcing ableism through this language.” To make up for it, Ubisoft promises to get rid of it in a future update.

Craven received a lot of support from Assassin’s Creed fans as well, with some thanking them for using their platform to discuss important topics such as ableism in video games, as well as for pointing this issue out to a big company such as Ubisoft.

However, there were some fans who disagree with Ubisoft’s decision to remove the text, which led to heated discussions underneath Craven’s tweet.

The mist-covered woods are full of secrets — how far are you willing to go to discover all there is to find? With a little bit of effort, you will find all the answers to your questions. However, you need to be careful and remain vigilant, as the corrupted spirits are always skulking in corners, waiting for a chance to strike.

To amp up the excitement a little bit, a launch trailer has been recently released for the title.

The trailer may be short, clocking in at less than two minutes, but it does a good job at showcasing The Pathless and setting the players’ expectations for the game. The title has been advertised to be fast-paced, and the trailer really highlights this fact.

For instance, there’s a scene wherein the Hunter shoots at floating symbols in order to pick up speed while running on the ground. In addition to that, it appears that it’s possible to fly through the air with the help of your trusted eagle companion.

The launch trailer also gives us a sneak peek of The Pathless’ villain who is known as Godslayer. Even though The Pathless, if compared to other upcoming titles, isn’t as highly-anticipated, it’s definitely one of the PS5’s biggest underdogs and we can’t wait to play it.

Kinetic Games Is Working On Phasmophobia Prison Level

Kinetic Games has always been very open and transparent to its fanbase regarding its future plans for Phasmophobia. Now, the developer has confirmed that a new prison level is currently in the works after fans’ constant requests for new areas.

Even though Halloween has come and gone, the ghost hunting 4-player game continues to be a huge success within the gaming community. Its sudden success is similar to that of the social deduction game Among Us, wherein the title had a sudden rise in popularity in streaming platforms such as Twitch.

As such, developer Kinetic Games has decided to rethink some of its future plans for the game in order to cater to the fans’ wants and needs. If you’re unfamiliar with the game’s setup, Phasmophobia has you putting together a team of four in order to hunt ghosts.

The game is usually set in households, and if you play Phasmophobia enough times, the gameplay can become somewhat redundant. Although there are currently high school and asylum maps for players to hunt ghosts at, it’s still understandable that they would want more.

Fans have been requesting the addition of new locations for quite some time now, such as cemeteries, churches, mansions, and even hotels. Fortunately, Kinetic Games is the kind of developer that really listens to the fans and takes their opinions seriously.

To give dedicated fans an idea of what the developer is working on, Kinetic Games has a public Trello board that contains Phasmophobia’s task log. The Trello board is separated into multiple categories like “In Progress,” “Backlog,” “Known Bugs,” and “To Do.”

You will find “Make a Prison Level” underneath the “In Progress” category. Sadly, developer and Kinetic Games founder “Dknighter” only posted a screenshot of the Trello task on Twitter with no extra information, so we’re not entirely sure what he has planned for the upcoming level.

However, it’s highly possible that it will have the same size as the expansive asylum level that is already present in the game.

It makes a lot of sense for a prison level to be included in a horror game, especially a game about hunting ghosts. After all, abandoned prisons are commonly visited by real-world ghost hunters, plus it’s a very prevalent location when it comes to horror games in general.

That being said, fans have valid concerns and complaints when it comes to Phasmophobia having bigger maps, but as mentioned, Kinetic Games is pretty great when it comes to listening to its players.

As a matter of fact, fans are even free to leave comments and suggestions on the public Trello board. One of the top commenters states that it would be great if Phasmophobia supported more than four players. This would be a great option to have for tackling the more expansive maps, allowing players to cover more ground.

The Phasmophobia community has some pretty good map ideas for Kinetic Games to choose from, such as carnivals, forest campsites, and more, which will surely keep the ball rolling for the psychological horror game.

Given the fact that many of the warzones around the globe have been rendered even more dangerous by the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, any amount will definitely go a long way in helping these kids out.

In any case, this wouldn’t be the first time that a charity organization has partnered with Fall Guys. Shortly after the game’s initial release earlier this year, Fall Guys held a charity event called “Battle of the Brands.”

The charity event was basically a bidding war, wherein companies and popular names were challenged to offer the highest donation possible to Special Effect, another charity that prioritizes gamers with physical disabilities.

In exchange for the highest donation, the winning company’s brand would be added as a skin or costume in Fall Guys. Needless to say, the event was a huge success. Since Mediatonic and Devolver Digital are always willing to help out with charity events such as this, we’re sure that we’ll be seeing more of these events in the future.
