Streamer Ninja Quits Fortnite Because of Stream Sniping

Tyler “Ninja” Blevins might have totally quit Fortnite, the game that garnered him his original streaming fame, but after a myriad of stream snipes in his last casual play around with the sandbox title, he’s promised to leave Fortnite behind for good.

Ninja’s streaming career kicked off more than seven years ago, but his rise to popularity on Twitch as a productive Fortnite streamer, ultimately becoming one of the most successful and recognizable streamers in the world.

He’s credited with bringing Fortnite to even greater success, and was ultimately immortalized in the game via his own official custom skin. At the top of his remarkably fruitful career, Ninja was consistently related with Fortnite and vice versa, and his fan base grew by leaps and bounds during his time as a competitive Fortnite streamer.

ninjafortnite1050-5400556

However, Ninja’s Fortnite career ultimately came to an end, and after agreeing with an exclusive deal with Twitch, he moved on to other competitive titles such as League of Legends and Valorant, while also trying to broaden his horizons into voice acting and other endeavors.

Although he no longer plays Fortnite competitively, he does still wander back into Fortnite to play casually on stream. However, a recent streaming session, which was recorded and reposted on YouTube by thatdenverguy, saw several players looking for bragging rights allegedly stream-sniping Ninja’s four consecutive games.

It was enough to prompt the Fortnite star to disown Fortnite’s player base and to disclose that he would no longer stream any of his casual Fortnite sessions, so as not to provide stream-snipers a platform or the attention they desire.

Ninja has cried foul about stream snipers in the past, so it’s easy to be leery about his claims, but he declared in his stream that it was the same culprit behind all four of his deaths. It comes to attention what can be a sad price of popularity for many successful streamers – they are going to be targeted more frequently, specifically by those looking to take advantage on their popularity with bragging rights, and it can destroy what was once a remarkable gaming experience for those who earn a living via streaming. Obviously, this isn’t particularly easy to condole with considering just how much Ninja gets from streaming, but that doesn’t prohibit him from his right to enjoy a casual match of Fortnite in peace.

New Pokemon Journeys Episodes Finally Arriving To Netflix March 2021

It appears that all things Pokemon have been giving fans curveballs as of late, from new endeavors into DLC expansions for Pokemon Sword and Shield on the Nintendo Switch to exciting new pieces of merchandise to an all-new take on the anime, most notably.

Pokemon Journeys has come along with tons of surprises, but possibly the biggest change compared to the previous seasons is that Ash and his friends travel to various regions in the Pokemon world almost every episode.

While many fans have long craved for a game that allows them to travel between the series’ many unique locations, the most recent season of the anime has at least provided them a glance of what could be like.

Taking Ash and his newest traveling partner Goh to a different area in every episode has kept Pokemon Journeys fresh, not to mention Goh being one of Ash Ketchum’s most diverse traveling companion’s yet, with a goal to capture every Pokemon, especially the Legendary Mew. While it has been a couple of months since fans overseas have watched new episodes of the anime, they can anticipate more episodes very soon.

The Pokemon anime airs episodes fairly regularly over in Japan, but they have come in batches to those abroad via Netflix since June 2020. Now, the official Twitter account of Pokemon has posted that new episodes of Pokemon Journeys will be arriving in the popular streaming app on March 5, 2021.

Bulbapedia, a crowd-sourced database for all things Pokemon, lists that the newest set of episodes will include episodes 37 to 48. While episodes 49 to 58 have either already aired or are slated to air in Japan, it is not yet certain when those episodes will arrive on Netflix overseas.

However, it appears like Pokemon Journeys fans are in for some surprises with the forthcoming episodes, some of which feature a return to the Alola region, a fight against the extremely chaotic Legendary Pokemon Eternatus, and even a cameo by Mewtwo.

Fans keeping up with the anime’s latest season on Netflix are hyped to see not only Goh and Ash grow and learn as trainers, but the improvement of their Pokemon as well. Pokemon Journeys has surprised fans everywhere as of late, by not only giving Ash some remarkably strong additions to his team but particularly with the recent addition of a long-running fan-favorite Legendary Pokemon to Goh’s collection.

Though 2020 was indeed an exciting year for Pokemon, 2021 is shaping up to be just as interesting, with the series commemorating its 25th anniversary this February. It will be exciting to witness what other surprises Pokemon has in store for fans everywhere throughout this year.

New Pokemon Snap Screenshots and Info Revealed

After being left in the dark following its original reveal during a Pokemon Presents showcase held last year, fans were finally provided with more details and gameplay footage regarding New Pokemon Snap just a few weeks ago. In addition to an April 30 launch date announcement, players learned about the breathtaking view of the new Lental region, professor Mirror, and the magical Illumina Phenomenon.

Progressively, more details about the much-awaited Pokemon Snap sequel has been unveiled, including the game’s price, file size, and some kind of online functionality. Now, famous Japanese video game publication Famitsu has committed a whole section of its most recent issue to reveal new details and photos about the upcoming game.

eat2n2uu0aacboh-1043737

Scans of the pages of the magazine featuring New Pokemon Snap were uploaded by Reddit user Riomegon on the internet. While some of the photos featured in the magazine have already been officially unveiled, some newer screenshots show off what appears to be cutscenes of Rita, Professor Mirror, and the playable character, as well as Pokemon such as Seviper, Octillery, Tangrowth for the first time.

One part of the Famitsu magazine scans originally confused fans, as it featured a few images of the original Pokemon Snap on the Nintendo 64. While this led to some players claiming and guessing that this meant that the original game would be bundled in with the sequel, Reddit user CoffeeBard generously translated Japanese to shed light on the situation.

Based on CoffeeBard’s translation, this section simply provides readers an overview of the original 1999 Pokemon Snap, speaks on how a sequel is being launched more than two decades later and says how Lawson convenience stores initially gave a sticker-printing service to go along with the original game’s release. The section also notes that the New Pokemon Snap will feature 200 Pokemon, whereas the original game only included 63.

Some Pokemon fans have expressed frustration that only a fraction of today’s Pokemon are being included in the new game, but the publication also reveals that the original game has an active following even today, because of its replayability. Hopefully, fans will be able to find just as much to do in the new game, particularly with the possibility of DLC expansions.

The rest of the information featured in the Famitsu magazine appears to touch on information already revealed in the game’s official website and trailers. As fans prepare to explore beaches, jungles, deserts, and more, there may be even more surprises in store for players of New Pokemon Snap.

Blizzard Entertainment Is Currently Working On Several Mobile Games

It appears that the highly popular video game developer and publisher, Blizzard Entertainment, is currently working on multiple mobile games that are based on the studio’s already-existing IP. What’s even more interesting about this announcement is the fact Blizzard revealed that in terms of development, these games are already in the “advanced” stages.

2020 was yet another successful fiscal year for the video game company, and given that BlizzCon 2021 is fast approaching, Blizzard will once again be revealing more information about its latest titles and their development progress. This year’s BlizzCon, otherwise called BlizzConline, will be an online convention due to the ongoing global pandemic.

However, this doesn’t mean that it will be any less eventful. Blizzard will also be celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, so the company has a lot of fun digital activities and rewards planned for the various titles in its repertoire.

screenshot-www-youtube-com-2021-02-08-14_44_44

During a recent financial earnings call, Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick discussed with investors about how the company has plans to expand Warcraft, one of its most popular franchises. The CEO explains that at the moment, Blizzard is concentrating on providing “premium content” to its players because it wants to expand on the current World of Warcraft community.

As a part of this ongoing strategy, Kotick reveals that the company is currently working on several free-to-play mobile games that are a part of World of Warcraft’s universe, and all of these titles are allegedly already in their “advanced” stages.

Asides from this, though, Kotick also discusses another mobile game that’s currently in the works as well. This game in question is entitled Diablo Immortal, which has received polarizing opinions so far.

The Blizzard executive states that while the upcoming title’s limited test trials were able to garner positive reviews from those who were able to test it, Diablo Immortal’s “The Market” feature wasn’t as well-received. If anything, it reminded players of Diablo 3‘s Auction House, which many fans were wary about.

That being said, Blizzard’s community of fans isn’t exactly surprised by this news. For several years now, rumors have been circulating regarding a mobile Warcraft game, most especially when the company posted several job listings back in 2017.

screenshot-www-youtube-com-2021-02-08-14_39_41

There was one popular rumor in 2018 which claimed that Blizzard is working on an AR mobile game similar to the highly popular Pokemon Go. Seeing as Kotick mentioned that the studio is working on several games, there’s a chance that an AR title could be one of them, or perhaps even the Diablo 2 remake that was recently revealed to be in development.

Recently, remake studio Vicarious Visions was merged into Blizzard. This studio may be familiar to many, as it’s responsible for popular titles like the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 +2. Given this information, it’s highly likely that Vicarious Visions is steering the Diablo 2 remake, although this information hasn’t been completely confirmed just yet.

That being said, while it’s definitely exciting news that Blizzard is developing several games in an effort to expand the community, not a lot of fans are psyched to play games of this caliber on their mobile devices. Still, we hope to learn more information about this during BlizzConline.

Moby Dick-Inspired Whale Hunting Simulator Has Been Announced

ss_93391fb3735027a413ea1f2ba2ee927470c26dc9-1920x1080

Books, especially classic literature, are popular choices when it comes to adaptations, especially video game adaptations. As a matter of fact, there are several incredibly popular titles on the market right now that are based on books, such as The Witcher series, Metro, and BioShock. These just go to show that video games are capable of taking on complex plots and stories that many novels have.

This time around, it appears that yet another classic novel has been used as an inspiration to create a video game. Specifically, Polish studio 3T Games is currently working on a whale hunting simulator that’s reminiscent of Moby Dick, the piece of literary fiction written by Herman Melville.

The upcoming simulator is entitled Essex: The Whale Hunter, and it’s basically all about trying to gather a tough crew of sailors in an effort to try to find (and then capture) sperm whales. 3T Games even confirmed that the highly popular 19th century novel was the studio’s main inspiration for creating the game. The team hopes that Essex: The Whale Hunter will give players an idea of what it must have felt like to hunt whales back in the day.

ss_1b8e1532fb19c13de5513342c4c289d30b3d15c3-1920x1080-9181531

It’s not just about whale hunting, though—the game offers more than just that. In Essex: The Whale Hunter, players will be able to manage the sailors aboard the ship, as well as ensure that the ship itself is in the best possible condition. Players must also keep track of their in-game money, ensuring that they make decisions that give off the most profit.

Given these gameplay mechanics, the upcoming title seems to be a mix between a typical simulation game and a strategy game. Publisher Ultimate Games S.A. also released an announcement trailer for the title, which gives interested players a sneak peek into what the game has to offer.

It starts off with a theatrical cutscene wherein a massive whale swims incredibly close to a ship that’s being violently rocked back and forth by waves. From what we can see so far, the game is still in its rough stages, but developer 3T Games still has enough time to polish it completely before its release.

That being said, Essex: The Whale Hunter doesn’t have an official release date just yet, so interested players may have to wait for an indefinite period of time. However, 3T Games says that it’s hoping to release the game by 2023, so perhaps fans can consider that as a tentative release window.

For now, Essex: The Whale Hunter has an official Steam page where fans can check for updates as well as add the game to their wishlist.

PS5 Open Beta for Final Fantasy 14 Now Has Release Date

The launch of A Realm Reborn back in 2013 made a significant impact on Final Fantasy 14, causing the MMORPG to undergo a rebirth. With this renewal, the online RPG was under the hands of producer Naoki Yoshida. Ever since then, Final Fantasy 14 experienced a revival in popularity on both consoles and PC that is still ongoing even today.

PlayStation 3 players were able to experience A Realm Reborn on the day of its initial release, and it was a significant moment in time because it was one of the very first major cross-platform releases way before crossplay became a prominent feature in gaming.

A Realm Reborn allowed both PC and PlayStation 3 users to play Final Fantasy 14 together, as well as give them the ability to transfer their data or progress from PC to console and the other way around. As the years fly by, Final Fantasy 14’s console version remains to be a reasonable choice for those console users who want to experience the expansive and highly successful MMORPG.

screenshot-www-youtube-com-2021-02-08-12_26_15

After months of waiting since its confirmation, patient PlayStation 5 users will soon be able to experience Final Fantasy 14 in an upcoming upgrade. After the Final Fantasy 14 Announcement Showcase that took place recently, Square Enix CEO Yosuke Matsuda announced something that would make console users quite happy.

A new trailer was then released, which showcased gameplay footage of Final Fantasy 14 taken from none other than the PlayStation 5. This upcoming upgrade and its many quality of life adjustments will finally address several concerns that many console users have had regarding the online game, including faster load times, 4K capability, as well as a high-resolution GUI.

Fans only have a few months left to wait before they can experience these changes, as the PS5 Open Beta for Final Fantasy 14 is set to launch on April 13, 2021. This announcement trailer in question was dropped after the Final Fantasy 14 Endwalker presentation, which took about 2 hours. ICYMI, Endwalker is the latest expansion for the MMORPG.

Yoshida also shared more details about the upcoming PS5 upgrade, including the fact that players who use this particular console will have two main modes to choose from. Namely, there’s the 4K resolution and the 2K resolution. The former will significantly improve the game’s quality, while the latter will allow the game to have a steady framerate.

These options are somewhat comparable to the PlayStation 4 version of Final Fantasy 14, as it had a PS4 Pro option that allowed users to utilize benefits and enhanced capabilities that the base PS4 model didn’t have.

Previously, Square Enix revealed that it would stop support for the prior PlayStation 3 generation so that the team could focus on polishing and refining the current generation instead. As of right now, the studio hasn’t revealed what the future holds for Final Fantasy 14’s PS4 version. Perhaps, as time goes on, it will also see the same fate as the PS3 version.

That being said, those who have the PS4 version of the online game have the option to upgrade to the PS5 version for free. However, it’s worth noting that the player must have a copy of the game itself first, as well as an active online subscription.

Twitch Streamer Jinnytty Announces Her Return to Korea

screenshot-pbs-twimg-com-2021-02-08-07_29_05

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the popular Twitch streamer who goes by Jinnytty has decided to leave the United States and return to Korea. The streamer broke this sad news to her fans during a Just Chatting stream last February 5.

The streamer started her Twitch channel back in 2017, and was able to grow her account up to over 500,000 followers since then just by streaming Just Chatting sessions on a regular basis. Both Jinnytty and another streamer known as Yugwha0901 came to the United States from Korea early last year with the plan to travel across the country.

The two streamers were able to visit a couple of major cities in the US, including San Francisco and Austin, right before COVID-19 went full force and resulted in lockdown procedures. Since that time, though, Jinny has been living with EsfandTV, another Twitch streamer, in Austin, Texas. Jinny’s stay with Esfand has resulted in collaborations and amusingly chaotic content.

Things seemed to have been going great for Jinny, until February 5, when she revealed during a stream that she plans on returning to Korea while the pandemic is still ongoing. The streamer has multiple reasons for this decision, one reason being the fact that Jinny and her brother didn’t come to the United States just to remain indoors every single day. Rather, their purpose for visiting is the complete opposite of what they’ve been doing as of late—they wanted to travel and have fun road trips.

On the other hand, Korea has been handling the COVID-19 situation significantly different, perhaps even better, than the States. The Korean government has been strict when it comes to the implemented lockdowns and other procedures, such as social distancing and the wearing of masks.

Not only that, the country has been firmly limiting who can come and go from the country’s borders, requiring regular self-reporting in terms of possible symptoms, and implementing strict 2-week quarantine periods. It may seem rigorous, but because of these firm rules and regulations, a lot of Korea’s bars, restaurants, and other attractions were able to remain open despite the pandemic—which is the complete opposite of what has happened and is happening in many cities in the States.

screenshot-www-twitch-tv-2021-02-08-11_52_42

That being said, COVID-19 isn’t the only reason why Jinny has decided to leave the States and return home, and it’s a major reason. The streamer only visited the country as a tourist, which means that she doesn’t have a work visa. As such, even without the pandemic, she would still need to leave soon, anyway.

During the stream, Jinny says, “I plan to come back in the summer, so I was gonna leave anyway by the end of February so that I can come back in summer, right?”

Since she has been staying with another streamer in Texas, she goes on to say that she doesn’t want to be a “burden” on Esfand. But to end things on a bright note, Jinny adds that “it’s not like I’m leaving forever. I’m coming back whenever things are better.” The streamer couldn’t help but feel emotional during her recent stream, but her fans have been supportive of her decision to leave.

Monster Hunter Rise’s Longsword Was The Most Popular Weapon In Demo

0
eti26l6vcaak3al

Monster Hunter Rise will offer players with a wide array of weapons to choose from, ranging from the average Sword and Shield, gun-like weapons such as the Light Bowguns, and massive swords like the Greatsword. As a matter of fact, there are 14 different weapon types in the game.

From January 8 through February 1, a Monster Hunter Rise demo was available for interested fans to download and play. In this limited-time demo, players were given the ability to choose among the 14 different weapon types as they set about on a monster hunting quest with their pals.

However, it appears that out of all the different weapons, there was one that was significantly more popular than the rest. More specifically, Monster Hunter Rise’s Longsword was the most used weapon during the several weeks that the demo was available. In fact, 19.1% of players chose the Longsword over all the other options available.

That being said, this whopping discovery doesn’t really come as a surprise. After all, the Longsword has been in the Monster Hunter franchise since the release of Monster Hunter 2 back in 2006, so it’s a fairly familiar weapon type for many long-time fans. Many players prefer this blade because it’s long and narrow. This means that for a melee weapon, the Longsword allows them to deal incredible damage at a fairly decent distance.

Not only that, but it gives players even better mobility compared to other heavier weapons like the Hammer or the Greatsword. Given the fact that Monster Hunter Rise offers a variety of 14 weapons, one would expect that each weapon type’s usage would at least be around 7%—that is, if things were more balanced, which these statistics definitely aren’t.

The Longsword’s usage is a long distance away from the other weapons, sitting at 19.1%, with the Greatsword coming at second place. This weapon type is yet another familiar and iconic choice, seeing as it has been an available weapon since the very first Monster Hunter title. Yet, only about 9.7% of players chose to bring the Greatsword with them during a quest.

Last but not least, the third popular weapon of choice during the demo is the Hunting Horn, which is most often misunderstood by many. Following the Greatsword, the Hunting Horn was used by 9.6% of players as they embarked on their journey—a statistic that many long-time Monster Hunter fans may be surprised by.

Even though it’s an incredibly useful weapon to have during battle, it’s not exactly common to find a hunter using a Hunting Horn in an online lobby. The main reason for this is probably because the Hunting Horn is a support weapon more than anything. It’s not a fairly easy weapon to use as well, as it requires a certain level of skill to juggle between buffing up allies and dealing damage to the monster.

As to why the Longsword was significantly the most popular, Capcom admits that it’s a very cool-looking weapon to have. What more could you possibly want if you have a weapon that deals heavy damage, is easy to use, and is stylish to look at?

Square Enix Files Trademark for “The Isle Dragon Roars”

0
screenshot-www-youtube-com-2021-02-08-07_00_27-1

Here’s the reality within the video game industry: once a studio thinks of the perfect title for an upcoming game or IP, this means the company has to file a trademark for it (or for several similar potential titles) if it wants to ensure that no other studio will be able to use or claim the title.

One perfect example for this would be Square Enix, an incredibly popular video game company that is always filing for trademarks. Recently, the company filed a trademark for the title “Forspoken,” which fans think could be a future expansion for the MMORPG Final Fantasy 14.

Now, the company has once again filed for another trademark, but fans still have no clue as to what this entails. As you may or may not know, Square Enix is currently working on multiple major projects right now. The development for Final Fantasy 16 is underway, Bravely Default 2 is set to release later this month, and Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2 is also in the works.

Image

As such, you can imagine that the studio has to deal with a lot of legal wrinkles to ensure that these upcoming games will launch with no unauthorized merchandise or websites. Such is the importance of filing for trademarks, as it not only benefits the company greatly, but it also helps those fans who are interested to know what the studio has planned.

This time around, Square Enix has filed a trademark in Australia for the title “The Isle Dragon Roars.” This was previously trademarked in Japan, along with another version of the title that reads as “The Dragon Isle” (ドラゴンの島). Fans speculate that because the trademark was filed in Australia, this could mean that something new will be coming soon—or at least Square Enix will announce something soon.

One prominent theory within the community of fans is that “The Isle Dragon Roars” is probably what Bravely Default 2’s subtitle will be. According to the filing, Square Enix’s trademark is under the classes 9 and 41, which are usually the classes that studios file video games under. Specifically, 9 is for technology or the physical media, while 41 is meant for products that provide amusement or entertainment.

Image

That being said, Bravely Default 2 is set to release within a couple of weeks, yet the teasers and trailers so far haven’t revealed or hinted at anything that could be related to “The Isle Dragon Roars.” However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that the theory is incorrect, as perhaps Square Enix simply wants to surprise the fans.

A trademark is usually filed when a new product is almost set to launch. For instance, Square Enix recently trademarked “Horimiya,” which is the title of an anime series that’s currently ongoing in Japan, for the use of multiple categories such as stationery, toys, and other merchandise that’s related to the series.

Asides from this, the studio has several patents at the moment for what appears to be an RPG mobile game. The world of video game trademarks and patents can be incredibly confusing, but there are many fans out there who are willing to dive in just to get a glimpse of what the studio has planned.

As for “The Isle Dragon Roars,” fans will just have to sit back and wait. Square Enix will probably make some kind of announcement or reveal soon, given the fact that it has already started filing trademarks for the title.

Apex Legends’ Caustic May Be Nerfed In The “Near Future”

screenshot-www-youtube-com-2021-02-08-06_49_51

These days, Respawn Entertainment has been doing a great job at entertaining fan questions and answering their concerns regarding Apex Legends, the developer’s highly popular hero shooter battle royale. For instance, one developer recently shared that when the new legend Fuse was still in development, his ultimate ability was supposed to be an instant kill.

Now, new information has been revealed by a Respawn developer, and it pertains to a possible nerf to none other than the “Toxic Trapper” known as Caustic. Apex Legends fans who enjoy keeping up with the game’s updates know how Caustic has essentially been a major reason why Respawn has been doing a lot of back and forth when it comes to balancing in the game.

For example, the legend almost received a buff early in the year for the Fight Night Collection Event update. However, fans were unhappy about this decision and caused quite a backlash, which resulted in Respawn Entertainment removing the buff from the update instead.

screenshot-www-ea-com-2021-02-08-08_25_28

When Apex Legends Season 8 came around, the developer decided to nerf Caustic instead by ensuring that his gas will no longer linger even after his team has already been eliminated. Although, this wasn’t exactly a helpful nerf, given the fact that the rest of the team are already wiped out, anyway.

Respawn Entertainment did another Reddit AMA a few days ago, and one fan couldn’t help but ask why the studio hasn’t nerfed the legend more, emphasizing the fact that a legend’s offensive abilities are just as important in a match as the weapons used. The fan then proceeded to use Blizzard’s Overwatch as an example, wherein more often than not, the game’s meta is intertwined with the characters’ damage-dealing abilities.

John Larson, who happens to be Respawn Entertainment’s Live Balance Designer, responded to this query with a particularly in-depth answer. The developer states that the team wants to adjust Caustic “in a way that removes frustration without hurting how it feels to play as Caustic.” Larson also states that this change will most likely take place in the “near future.”

Larson also mentions in their lengthy reply that Caustic has a high win rate when it comes to matches that “last longer than 20 minutes.” This is because the legend’s tactical and ultimate abilities allow him to cover a lot of ground once there’s only a little space left late game. As such, Larson confirms that “potentially devastating synergies between legend abilities” is something that Respawn Entertainment is “actively working on resolving.”

At the moment, we still don’t know what the developer has planned for this supposedly upcoming nerf. On the bright side, it appears that Respawn Entertainment has finally found a way to balance out legends without completely changing the way they play.

The studio once had trouble finding the perfect balance for Pathfinder as well, going back and forth with changes. However, they were able to resolve the issue by tweaking his hitbox. In fact, Respawn implemented a similar adjustment to Wraith in this latest season as well in an effort to balance her out.

In the meantime, we’ll just have to wait and see what Respawn Entertainment has in store for Caustic.
