The most recent Stuff Pack for The Sims 4 has been officially revealed, and this time around, it revolves around spooky and paranormal content. Since the fourth entry in the Sims franchise was released back in September 2014, there’s been a plethora of new content added to the life simulation video game, which are available in different sizes and prices.

Among all the premium DLCs, the cheapest out of all the options is the Stuff Packs. These packs usually include new places for your Sims character to sit down on, new clothing options, and sometimes even new gameplay features. There’s about eighteen Stuff Packs overall, which is already a subset out of the thirty-seven packs you can download for The Sims 4. As time passed, the different types of packs have also become more detailed and complex.

As mentioned, the most recent Stuff Pack for the game is all about the paranormal, but this actually isn’t the first time that The Sims 4 dipped its toes into the world of the supernatural. Specifically, the game’s fourth game pack gave your Sims the chance to meet or become vampires. It even added new, darker clothes to fit the lifestyle, as well as ambitions that highlight blood sucking.

The Sims 4 also introduced a Spooky Stuff Pack in 2015, which had spider web decorations, Halloween costumes for your characters, and it even allowed your Sim to host a party to celebrate the spooky occasion. Now, The Sims 4 players who enjoy the darker side of things will have yet another pack to enjoy.

Electronic Arts recently dropped a reveal trailer for the Paranormal Stuff Pack, which is scheduled to launch on January 26, 2021. That being said, fans actually voted for the addition of this pack during the community stuff pack vote, making it the second one after Nifty Knitting Stuff.

There’s a bunch of exciting new content that this pack will bring to the table. For one thing, you will be able to build haunted houses as well as become a medium and commune with the spirit world.

You even have the chance to become a licensed paranormal investigator, and the process is fairly simple. All you have to do is clear out your own home of any unwanted spirits or ghouls and impress the new spectral assistant Guidry for this interesting opportunity. If you succeed in becoming a paranormal investigator, you can take on jobs where you have to cleanse other Sims’ haunted houses.

Asides from these additions though, there’s more to the Paranormal Stuff Pack than meets the eye. According to the official The Sims 4 website, some of the key features of this upcoming pack include the ability to perform seances and talk to the dead. Not only that, the trailer showcases a bunch of new furniture as well, perfect for those who want to completely embrace the Ghostbuster lifestyle and adorn their homes with paranormal-themed items.

The Paranormal Stuff Pack also gives you the chance to meet with the fan-favorite skeletal maid, Bonehilda. The NPC has been around since the first The Sims game, which makes her a very familiar entity to many long-time fans.

Nintendo Releasing Red and Blue Colored Switch

A new Nintendo Switch bundle featuring Mario’s trademark colors has been revealed, coinciding with a recently released trailer for Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury. Fans will soon be able to play the Browser’s Fury DLC expansion for the first time and do so in style on a blue and red edition inspired by the world’s most famous plumber.

Nintendo has given a diversity of exclusive Switch consoles with special paint jobs over the previous several years, 2020 saw the launch of two Switch exclusive editions, one to celebrate the launch of Animal Crossing New Horizons and another Fortnite inspired Switch that went global after originally being launched in New Zealand, Australia, and Europe. Usually, these exclusive consoles are launched along the side of a forthcoming Nintendo merchandise, and this Mario-adorned console is no exception.

On the same day as the revealing of Bowser’s Fury, Nintendo posted photos of a new blue and red Switch for the fans to drool over. The Joy-Cons and console are bright red, while the controller’s grip features the color of Mario’s overalls with the controller’s straps sporting the yellow of his buttons.

The bundle also comes with a Mario-inspired carrying case as well as a screen protector for the console. However, the bundle does not come with Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, which has to be purchased separately.

In the meantime, the new trailer video for Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury released a few hours ago along with this new Switch finally shows what the expansion content will bring about for the franchise.

The trailer featured what seems to be a huge, open sandbox area akin to Super Mario Odyssey’s kingdoms, in which Bowser Jr. and Mario join forces to halt an uncontrollable and colossal Bowser. With new cat-like stars to gather and a new power-up that turns Mario into a massive lion, it appears like the ideal type of game to launch along with an exclusive new Switch.

With every new Switch coloration launched though, there is always the burning question of the existence of a Nintendo Switch Pro. It is very probable that this could be the year that will see its announcement, as speculations surrounding it are only getting stronger.

That comes in spite of the fact that Doug Bowser, President of Nintendo of America, recently shut down the aforementioned rumors. Whether or not the Switch Pro will come this year, it’s certain that these uniquely colored consoles won’t stop anytime soon.

Gamers will be able to buy both Super Mario 3D World + Bowser‘s Fury and the new Mario colored Nintendo Switch this February 12, 2021.

Developers Riot Games and Bungie Are Suing GatorCheats

overview_screenshot_3-1

Riot Games’ Valorant and Bungie’s Destiny 2 are two games that have fallen victim to rampant cheating since their release on the PC, and their respective developers have had to spend precious time and energy trying to deal with it.

Cheaters have only increased in number these days, which leaves honest players who just want to have clean fun at a terrible disadvantage. If this situation doesn’t get remedied, it will cause players to quit the game entirely and perhaps even badmouth the developers who worked hard on the game.

Thus, both Riot Games and Bungie decided to join forces and file a lawsuit against Cameron Santos’ company GatorCheats, which is probably the biggest cheat maker for the two developers’ games.

screenshot-playvalorant-com-2021-01-13-11_27_27

GatorCheats is a business that offers cheats and services for a variety of popular titles, and even its name itself attests to the purpose of the company. That being said, it appears that this isn’t Bungie’s first tango with GatorCheats, as the developer previously issued a cease and desist to the company. However, this didn’t seem to do anything since the cheat maker still continued to sell its products.

Now, both Riot Games and Bungie mean serious business. Through their lawsuit, the developers want reparation for the damages caused by GatorCheats. In order to do so, GatorCheats has to give them every bit of profit it was able to make through its cheating software.

It estimates that the cheat maker has been earning tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars at the expense of various video game developers. The lawsuit also wants a permanent injunction against not only GatorCheats, but on Cameron Santos as well. If this request is granted, this means that neither one would be able to continue selling or distributing cheats. Not only that, they wouldn’t be able to keep supporting the ones that are already available now.

The lawsuit doesn’t end there, though. It also requests that the court terminates all of GatorCheats’ cheating software throughout its platform.

screenshot-twitter-com-2021-01-13-11_40_14

Both Riot Games and Bungie have invested and spent a lot of dollars just to incorporate anti-cheat software into their games thanks to companies like GatorCheat, and the lawsuit didn’t forget to mention this fact. That being said, it would be a massive victory for not only Riot Games and Bungie but for countless other video game developers as well if they win this case against GatorCheats.

Of course, the shutdown of GatorCheats and its software won’t completely remove cheating from either one of the two titles, but it would have a big enough hit to the point where cheating in both Valorant and Destiny 2’s PvP would not be as prominent if not rare.

Numerous other studios are probably counting on this lawsuit as well, as Call of Duty’s publisher Activision has also had problems with GatorCheats in the past, too. The cheating situation in Call of Duty is pretty bad, which puts Activision on the same boat as Bungie and Riot.

In any case, Pokemon GO developer Niantic previously sued and won against the cheat supplier Global ++, so there’s a very big chance that Riot Games and Bungie will win this one, too.

Dishonored Creator May Be Working On New Fantasy Game

Given the fact that Deathloop is expected to launch this year, Arkane Studios has been hard at work trying to make sure that its upcoming unique title will work seamlessly on the new PlayStation 5. However, according to recent findings, it appears that the studio may already be starting on its next project. Apparently, Harvey Smith, co-creator of the highly acclaimed Dishonored series, admitted that he has been working on a different game and not on Deathloop.

That being said, something that Twitter user Timur222 noticed on LinkedIn may give us an idea of what the new title’s genre may be. Arkane Studios’ Senior VFX Artist Lisa Charriere lists down an unannounced “fantasy” game on her LinkedIn profile, which is supposed to be created in the Unreal 4 Engine.

If the artist’s profile is referencing the most recent project that Arkane Studios is working on, then it would definitely make sense for the studio, especially since Arkane was hiring for an unknown Unreal Engine 4 project back in September 2020.

If we base on Arkane Studios’ previous works, such as Dishonored and Prey, it’s safe to say that it has a knack for creating video games that not only have incredibly expansive settings, but with deep, immersive lore as well.

As such, creating a fantasy game is the best type of genre to work on if Arkane Studios wants to stretch its world-building capabilities to its full capacity. Besides, this particular team has always proved itself capable of tackling popular genres while incorporating its distinct style.

Working on a brand-new IP under a new genre also coincides with what Dinga Bakaba, creative director of Deathloop, once said in an interview with IGN back in May 2020. Specifically, Bakaba said that Arkane is “not a studio of one game, and I don’t think we ever will be.”

While it’s understandable that many still hooked on the Prey or Dishonored series would want a sequel or perhaps even some kind of spin-off set in those games’ respective worlds, Arkane previously confirmed that it will only dig up those titles if the team finds that there’s a story it wants to tell.

ss_570af3ccb6cea896e3fb063d19ff87ce652c040b-1920x1080-8598766

For now though, Bakaba states that the story of the Dishonored franchise has already concluded with Corvo Attono and Emily Kaldwin’s fight against Delilah. This confirmation came after the creative director refuted rumors saying that the Dishonored series was put on hold.

As a matter of fact, even the story of The Outsider has concluded thanks to The Death of the Outsider DLC that was released, which means that there’s really nothing left in Dishonored’s plot for Arkane Studios to expand on. That being said, not all hope is lost. While Bakaba firmly said that Arkane won’t be revisiting the Kaldwin storyline, his talk with IGN hinted that perhaps the studio could still return to the general Dishonored series in the future.

In other Arkane Studios news, Deathloop will be launching very soon in May 2021. Seeing as it’s a brand-new IP with intriguing gameplay mechanics highlighting time travel, many fans of the studio are already ready to jump in.

Wolfenstein Studio and Bethesda Are Working On New Indiana Jones Game

0
screenshot-www-youtube-com-2021-01-13-06_40_00

For as long as we can remember, Bethesda’s MachineGames has always only worked on the Wolfenstein series, rebooting the franchise so that modern players can experience and appreciate it. So far, its reboot has been well-received by the fans, which earned it reviews with high praises as a result.

However, it appears that this time around, MachineGames will be deviating from its usual format for its next project. According to Bethesda Softworks, developer MachineGames is currently working on a brand-new Indiana Jones game with its very own unique plot.

This news was revealed by Bethesda with the release of a short teaser trailer that shows the desk of Indiana Jones himself, which is littered with a variety of artifacts and other intriguing items that can be associated with the titular character and his adventures, like his ever iconic whip and hat, for instance.

At the end of the teaser, someone—whom we assume to be Indy—takes the hat, probably to go on another adventure. That being said, we can’t say for certain if Indiana Jones will be fighting against Nazis like in the films in this upcoming game, although it would make sense if he does given the fact that MachineGames has worked on Wolfenstein.

Sadly, the studio didn’t reveal any gameplay footage and the like to give us an idea of how the upcoming title will look like. However, Bethesda did post a follow-up to the teaser trailer revealing one last surprise to its fans.

In the follow-up, the studio states that Todd Howard, who led the development of some of Bethesda’s popular titles like Fallout and The Elder Scrolls, will be the executive producer of this new Indiana Jones video game.

There’s more—Lucasfilm Games, the brand-new video game label for Lucasfilm properties that was recently revealed, will also be involved in the game’s development. That being said, Bethesda emphasizes that it probably won’t reveal anything else about the game for a while, stating that “it’ll be some time” before it has anything else to spill.

The unveiling of the new Lucasfilm Games publishing label was initially announced on the official Star Wars website, which made fans assume that the label will more or less focus on developing Star Wars titles. As such, many were surprised that its very first project will be a new Indiana Jones game.

For now, this partnership between Bethesda and Lucasfilm Games could give us a good idea of what we can expect from the studio after the Microsoft acquisition last year, which took the video game community by surprise. The acquisition is expected to get finalized this year, that is, if everything goes smoothly and no issues arise.

In other words, this could mean that the upcoming Indiana Jones title will be launched under Xbox Game Studios, although we don’t think it’s going to be an Xbox-exclusive game.

On the other hand, Bethesda and Lucasfilm Games’ collaboration was agreed upon before the Microsoft acquisition has been finalized. So, there’s still a chance that this upcoming project won’t be affected in any way by the acquisition and will be released on whatever platform the two companies have agreed on.

Dungeons and Dragons Reveals Candlekeep Mysteries Adventure Anthology

A new adventure anthology for Wizards of the Coast’s Dungeons & Dragons franchise, Candlekeep Mysteries, has been revealed. The announcement was made on the official Dungeons & Dragons Twitter account, which gave a brief overview of the upcoming book and a link to where you can purchase it.

The social RPG has been around for a really long time, specifically since 1974. However, the game had another surge of popularity when the 5th Edition was released. Of course, tabletop games such as Dungeons & Dragons allow you to create your own universe and story with the guidance of the official rules, but adventure books and anthologies are extra sources of content and entertainment for dedicated fans.

There are different types of books under the wing of Wizards of the Coast—from rule books to story-based campaigns—but in the case of Candlekeep Mysteries, it appears that the latest entry is an adventure anthology.

screenshot-media-dnd-wizards-com-2021-01-13-08_27_26

As you can probably infer from the title, Candlekeep Mysteries consists of several mini-adventures shrouded in mystery. Since it’s an anthology, it features different authors, even including popular ones like Christopher Perkins and Deborah Ann Woll. According to the book’s official store page, the anthology will have 17 different quests that range from levels 1 through 16.

Each of these stories is written as standalone adventures, which gives you a lot of flexibility and power to decide how you want the story to play out. Whether you want your adventure to be incorporated into a running campaign, changed to a different setting, or perhaps as a single instance game, it’s completely up to you and that’s the beauty of it.

If you’re not familiar with Candlekeep, it’s a massive fortress-like library that’s situated near the Sword Coast. This time around, Candlekeep Mysteries has a more academic vibe to it, unlike the other adventure stories that are set in chilly Icewind Dale or the disreputable pit that is Waterdeep.

Since Candlekeep Mysteries is set in a library, it will feature the more scholarly characters such as historians, sages, and other individuals who are seeking more knowledge—forbidden or not. The book will also contain a poster map along with detailed descriptions to help give the Dungeon Masters a head start on their session.

Given how tabletop games, especially Dungeons & Dragons, have been getting a lot of attention even more than usual, the introduction of new expansions and content is a cause for excitement for many. Given how Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden had a massive and comprehensive campaign for the players, it’s nice that Candlekeep Mysteries offers a completely different pace.

Going through different quests wherein magical mysteries are involved gives you the chance to make use of or at least experiment with different popular classes. Even though the anthology only reaches up to level 16, that’s still a pretty decent level to end your adventure and offers sufficient class development. Besides, the fact that it’s an anthology should give Dungeon Masters the opportunity to host an interesting Dungeons & Dragons session.

Candlekeep Mysteries will be available in physical and digital editions this March 16, 2021.

Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War Season 1 Mid-Season Update Coming This Week

Later this week, Call of Duty fans can look forward to the massive Season 1 mid-season patch for Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War as well as the Call of Duty Warzone battle royale. While Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War’s mid-season update has already been revealed, publisher Activision has verified some new information about what players can anticipate from the update when it goes live for both titles this Thursday, January 14, 2021.

One of the most considerable additions is the new Fireteam map for Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War in the form of Sanatorium. Photos of the Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War Sanatorium map have been roaming around the internet, providing fans a good image of what to anticipate when the map is released later this week. It will feature sea, air, and land vehicles for players to use, which will make the Fireteam battles even more utterly confusing than usual.

As far as standard Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War multiplayer goes, players can expect a new game mode called Dropkick. The new game mode features a 6v6 battle where the goal is to safe keep a briefcase containing nuclear codes to rack up points. How fans react to this new game mode remains to be seen, but Call of Duty fans will find out if it’s enjoyable when it also goes live on January 14.

For Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War Zombies, fans can expect a new fast-paced version of the game mode. Zombies Cranked makes it so players consistently have to get kills since every elimination resets a timer that, if it reaches zero, the player will explode. The features of this new zombies mode is very identical to the Cranked multiplayer mode that has been showcased in the previous Call of Duty games, so it will be exciting to see how well this works when facing zombies.

Players who are on a PlayStation will have some exclusive zombies content to anticipate with the Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War Season One mid-season update. The Zombies Onslaught will be a PlayStation exclusive mode that will feature the fan-favorite Black Ops 2 Raid map.

Activision has hinted that there will be even more content arriving to the game for season 1, so players should have a lot to look forward to in the coming weeks. A new Zombies map is also confirmed for the second season, but additional details on this new map have not yet been announced as of writing.

Ghostwire: Tokyo for PlayStation 5 Launch Date Confirmed For October

0
1-12

Ghostwire: Tokyo for the PlayStation 5 launch date window has been announced by Sony during its CES presentation which concluded a few hours ago, and the forthcoming game is scheduled for an October release period this 2021.

Ghostwire: Tokyo has been an interesting presence in Sony’s lineup of upcoming games since it was first announced during Bethesda’s 2019 E3 press conference, and interest in both the title and its distinct status has only risen as it closes its launch window and additional updates.

Tango Gameworks, the game’s developer, has a history of disturbing environments because of its work on The Evil Within franchise. However, the huge deliberation point enveloping the game recently has been Ghostwire: Tokyo’s bizarre status as a timed PlayStation 5 exclusive that is being distributed by Bethesda – a gaming development studio now owned by Microsoft, the company behind the PlayStation 5’s rival Xbox Series X|S.

Xbox CEO Phil Spencer made it clear that the acquisition of the publisher wouldn’t change plans for Ghostwire: Tokyo’s status as a timed PlayStation 5 exclusive, so Xbox is basically helping to release a game that it won’t have on its own platform until at least a year after releasing on the PlayStation 5.

Details on just when the Ghostwire: Tokyo launch date will be has been hard to come by, but a new reveal during Sony’s CES presentation a few hours ago has provided fans a window for the game’s release.

Games Industry analyst Daniel Ahmad posted a screencap of the announcement on Twitter, which came softly at the end of a sizzle reel, a few hours ago, also giving details on other PlayStation 5 launches over the next few years. Ghostwire: Tokyo’s PlayStation 5 launch date window is listed on October 2021, making it a release to look out for towards the end of this year.

Meager else was announced about the game’s status, but having a rocky Ghostwire: Tokyo launch date window is better than nothing for gamers, especially with so few instances of new detail over the past few months.

Ikumi Nakamura, the game’s creative director, left the project and the development studio back in 2019 which was arguably the most discussed factor of the game before its bizarre status with the Bethesda acquisition of Microsoft, so more details about the game itself and less about what’s occurring around it would be welcome for the several intrigued by its premise.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition Launch Date Leaked

0
maxresdefault-26-4

One of the most endeared video game series of the seventh generation was Mass Effect by developer BioWare, with the classic trilogy of games earning global critical acclaim at the time of their launch. With this in mind, it’s not shocking that players are hyped to come back to the original Mass Effect games with the forthcoming Mass Effect Legendary Edition, and now it appears as though they only have a few more months to wait if a new leak is true.

It seems as though the Mass Effect Legendary Edition launch date will be on Friday, March 12, 2021. This is based on multiple sellers that have leaked the launch date online, in addition to Eurogamer reporting that it understands the leaked Mass Effect Legendary Edition launch date to “currently be accurate”. It’s probable that these plans might still be changed, though, so gamers should take this news with a grain of salt until the developers release an official announcement regarding the launch date.

https://twitter.com/IdleSloth84/status/1348640719305584640?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1348640719305584640%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fgamerant.com%2Fmass-effect-legendary-edition-release-date%2F

Mass Effect Legendary Edition, for the unaware, is a remastered collection of the first three original Mass Effect games for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. It will generally be the same that fans have played before, but with enhanced graphics, all DLC included, but with Mass Effect 3’s multiplayer mode probably removed.

What’s exciting about the Mass Effect Legendary Edition is that the title does not have a proper Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5 planned. Like many other games, there will be some advantages of playing the game on the Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5, but for one reason or the other, a real next-gen version doesn’t exist. Perhaps one will be launched at some point down the line, but since the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 are both backward compatible anyway, fans will still be able to play Mass Effect Legendary Edition on their new consoles.

Meanwhile, a few Mass Effect fans may be more excited about what’s next for the series. The game’s developer has teased a new Mass Effect title that is in active development, with many veterans of the series returning to work on the new installment.

So far, very little is revealed about the new Mass Effect, though the teaser trailer appears to imply that it will star Liara T’Soni and will more directly feature the events of the original trilogy and Commander Shephard than Andromeda did.

Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War Reveals Zombies Mode Limited Free Access

Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War is one of the most fan-favorite game mode options within the game. With the launch of every new Call of Duty title comes a secret hope that Zombies mode will see another fresh update. Although Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War made some huge changes to the game mode, the development team is offering a new event that will be a first for the series.

There are a dozen secrets hidden within the Dark Aether plot. After Call of Duty developer Treyarch wrapped the main Aether story, this revival of the undead has a new and more destructive source. Now, for the first time in the game’s history, the developers are allowing a free limited-time access week for any fan interested in discovering the truth to the Dark Aether experience.

Briefly, after the debut of a brand new Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War Zombies game mode, Cranked, comes an opportunity for fans to experience the undead for free. The free time-limited free access week will include a chance to engage in the complete Zombies experience, allowing players the time to take on Die Maschine and delve into the World War 2-era laboratory.

It is worth noting that any player on the PlayStation will have access to the PlayStation exclusive game mode Onslaught, which pits two players in an extreme Zombies shooting experience. Bring a strong loadout into the battle, and attempt to survive progressively hostile waves of zombies across rotating safe zones. Free access is set to start on January 14 and end on January 21, 2021.

For most Zombies mode fans, the game mode holds as the main reason to buy the game. The developer has introduced a consistently evolving game experience that appears to only build upon the original Zombies foundations set a few games ago. As Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War fans explore further into the Dark Aether, there are years of history set aside to bolster the fresh start to a legendary narrative.

It is also worth noting that players who have progressed guns in both Call of Duty Warzone and Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War will see their progress be carried over. Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War integrated all the progress tracks during the introductory integration allowing blueprints, player levels, and weapon levels to show in both games and Zombies mode.

Upcoming fans should see their favorite blueprints readily available for their engagement into a zombie shooter experience. The progression of players during the entire event will also be added to Call of Duty Warzone Season 1’s progress.

Players will ultimately level their battle pass against never-ending waves of zombies and watch their tiers rise with free XP boosts and other perks for the season.
