Assassin’s Creed Valhalla New Footage Shows Mythological Enemies

The Assassin’s Creed franchise has always had a fine line between history and mythology. The developers of the latest entry Assassin’s Creed Valhalla previously stated that the game will be “historically grounded” and not have a lot of focus on fantasy elements.

Well, it seems that the focus has changed somewhere along the way, as shown by the new gameplay released by Ubisoft as part of GamesRadar’s latest Future Games Show. it is loaded with all sorts of beasts and icons from mythology.

 

We see a huge black dog known as Black Shuck, said to be the Devil incarnate. We also get a peek at a sidequest called “The Lost Drengir of Ragnar Lothbrok”, which takes the player all over Norway and England hunting down the former followers of Ragnar Lothbrok. Yet again, Ubisoft previously stated that the game will have almost no sidequests.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is the victim of behind-the-scenes turmoil as game director Ashraf Ismail was laid off by Ubisoft after an external investigation into misconduct allegations. It is going to be interesting to see what comes of the game without him at the helm.

 

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Detailed 4K/30 FPS or 60 FPS at Lower Resolution

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is going to have two resolution modes, 4K at 30 FPS or 60 FPS at lower resolutions according to a Famitsu interview with Insomniac Games’ Marcus Smith and Mike Daly. Famitsu asks about the games frame rates and resolutions options, Daly answered that the game will have two separate modes that players can choose from to balance gameplay with stunning graphics.

Later in the interview, the interpreter mentioned that the Ratchet and Clank series forwent the 60 FPS benchmark set by the PS2 games to instead go for 30 FPS and better graphics for PS3 and PS4. The PS5 release, however, appears to give players the choice between these two different styles.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is going to a “launch window” game for the PS5, this was confirmed on the Opening Night Live, we also got some more gameplay. It was also confirmed back in June that the female Lombax character will be playable.

Fortnite has been removed from the Google Play Store, which means Android players cannot update to the latest version of the game and play Chapter 2 Season 4. Though, Epic is making it clear to players that their own app and the Samsung Galaxy Store will allow Android players to continue playing.

Those who have downloaded the game on Android are receiving an email from Epic Games stating that Android users can still play the new season through the Epic Games App for Android (via Fortnite.com/Android) or the Samsung Galaxy Store.

Epic also added that Android users who already own Fortnite on Google Play will be able to continue playing the current update, the Season 3 Battle Pass. However, it was wrapped up on August 27, which means players will not be able to progress further. New cosmetics, gifts, and challenges are also not obtainable.

Jungle Awakens, the game’s first DLC, was released last July which contained new missions and new armor, weapons, and artifacts that players need to discover.

Now, Mojang is preparing to release the Minecraft Dungeons Creeping Winter DLC for next month. In a new trailer released for Creeping Winter, players got a glimpse of what awaits them inside the second DLC.

Mojang Studios recently released a new Minecraft Dungeons Diaries video where the developers spent more than five minutes detailing what their fans can look forward to in the future update.

Minecraft Dungeons free update

To start things, the video revealed a huge free update that will come alongside the Creeping Winter update. The free update will incorporate two new amazing features to the game through the Daily Trials as well as introduce new merchants.

The new merchants coming will be a Gift Wrapper and a Blacksmith. The Gift Wrapper gives players the ability to trade items to other players via the multiplayer option of Minecraft Dungeons. On the other hand, the Blacksmith will be a helpful NPC that upgrades players’ items.

In addition, the game’s merchants can now be leveled up. As a result, they will have more items available in their shops. For the Daily Trials, as the name suggests, players will receive daily challenge maps that promote the game’s new features.

Creeping Winter DLC details

After explaining the free update, the developers also talked about the details of the Creeping Winter DLC. They comprehensively explained a new winter biome that adds new gameplay mechanics like slippery floors and areas where a player can be frozen immediately. New enemies will also have ice-based attacks that can throw snowballs or fling mysterious ice crystals to players.

The month of August is nearing its end but gamers still don’t have exact launch dates for both next-gen consoles – PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Also, the prices for both consoles have yet to be announced.

The good news is Microsoft already confirmed that they are looking to release the Xbox Series X in November. On the other hand, Sony still intends to stick to a release date closer to the holiday season. According to VideoGamesChronicle, this might be because Microsoft plans to launch first.

VGC mentions that several development and retail sources revealed to them that the Xbox Series X will be released by the first week of November. On the other hand, Sony has reportedly booked marketing spend in the United Kingdom for seven days starting November 13, 2020. This means the PlayStation 5 is set to be released anytime from November 13 to 20, 2020.

VGC also pointed out that it is still unsure if the PlayStation 5 will be released on the same day worldwide or follow a staggered release like its predecessor. The latter option is improbable but complications in logistics brought by the global pandemic may force Sony to do this. During the PlayStation 4’s launch, European countries waited at least two weeks after the consoles had been released in North America.

Even though the manufacturing of both next-gen consoles is still on schedule, both Microsoft and Sony are doubtful that shipping methods could still be interrupted which may result in limited supplies in the first weeks of release. They always have the option to ship the units by air which will be much faster but would obviously increase their expenses.

Whatever the case is, both Microsoft and Sony are being really cautious which is why details about the consoles’ releases are scarce.

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has been featured in Opening Night Live yesterday with an amazing new trailer including gameplay from the entire franchise such as the Prequels, Original Trilogy, and Sequels.

Fans got to see gameplay from all the nine Star Wars movies, with heroes and villains teaming up for one massive fight. Players can begin their adventure from any of the episodes and encounter a lot of iconic moments recreated in Lego fashion.

Similar to other Lego games, The Skywalker Saga will also feature a lot of playable characters and controllable vehicles. However, the bad news is that the game will not be released this year. Instead, the developers are looking at a spring 2021 release date.

Despite this, Traveller’s Tales showcased several changes in last night’s trailer that will debut in the game. Probably the biggest improvement in the game is the camera angle since the Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will be in third-person view. The game will also have a massive open-world map to allow players more freedom while driving various vehicles.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Storm Ground was revealed by Gasket Games and Focus Home at Gamescom’s Opening Night Live. The game will have the Stormcast Eternals as its heroic faction, going head to head against Nagash’s undead Nighthaunt.

No exact release date or gameplay was shown but it will launch sometime in 2021 on the PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. It does seem like we will be able to command a Lord-Celestant mounted on a Stardrake, though, which is some great news.
