CSGO update changes Cache, Swamp, and Mutiny

The latest update of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has made changes to its two newest maps Swamp and Mutiny, and has also fixed several bugs on Cache.

Swamp

The improvements to Swamp see the developers focusing on improving performance and overall gameplay flow. Swamp was the focus of the update, with a brand new radar texture and an additional path that players can use to quickly move from the middle area to its raised center bridge area.

Headshot angles that made it difficult to see players behind the map’s many boats also saw changes. Raising the terrain under the boats in question has the players’ heads easily seen from the map’s green backgrounds.

Swamp also had some bug fixes. Since the maps debut, splash sprites would occasionally not display when a player walked through the wet and swampy parts. After the update, they display correctly.

The developers also lowered the sound of its background noise substantially. At its previous volume, the croaking frogs and various the background sounds that were loud enough to cover the enemy’s footsteps and CSGO’s distinctive grenade sounds.

This change has the largest impact on how the map is played. With sound effects like pulling the pin from a grenade now clearly audible, players should be caught off guard less often.

Mutiny

Mutiny was released with Swamp in the July update, and it also saw several changes. The developers have made adjustments focusing particularly on the map’s readability. The color scheme and lighting of Mutiny made enemy players with Agent skins hard to make out against the vibrant backgrounds. To fix this, the lighting was slightly altered to help players make out friend from foe.

Vines and foliage were also removed from the wall on A site. Characters now stand out clearly against the wall instead of blending in and the angle and height of the wall were changed to make engaging enemies around it easier.

The largest change was shifting T spawn further away from the bombsites. Before this, engagements between players happened faster. This often put the CT side at a disadvantage because they had less time to set up site defenses compared to other maps.

With the new position of T spawn, CTs have some precious extra moments before a site takeover happens. There is also some newly added cover to some areas and some removed, mixing up the established positions.

The update also included a reduction to the damage done through wall bangs at B door and bomb respawn spots for ones that find their way outside the map. A’s rock formation also saw changes that allow more grenade options.

Cache

Now for the changes done to Cache. The list of tweaks for the popular map is small, it includes fixes for two game-breaking bugs players experienced on the map. The first finally fixed player models appearing through textures when standing in the dark in a Molotov.

Players could sometimes be seen through walls because of the interaction between shadows and Molotov flames, especially in the cubby under T boost. Now the Molotov should function as intended and not as a wallhack.

The second fix targets an issue where players could get stuck in A site’s door, unable to move or interact to free themselves. This is a bug dating back to the Counter-Strike’s early days, made famous by this video. Headphone users, it is loud.

Cache’s navigation mesh(used by bots to move around the map) was also updated along with the soundscapes being re-enabled after being turned off for an undisclosed reason.

Hello Games Officially Launches ‘The Last Campfire’

Back in June, Hello Games released a trailer for their game The Last Campfire and we didn’t hear anything again about it again — until today, that is. Unsurprising, though, since Hello Games is always so full of surprises. The Last Campfire has officially been launched today for the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and Apple Arcade.

You play as Ember, an adorable creature who is simply trying to find its way home amidst the confusing yet beautiful world the game is set in. However, it’s worth noting that you shouldn’t expect the game to be developed the same way as No Man’s Sky. This is because only a few developers from Hello Games worked on The Last Campfire.

Some of the game’s key features include:

  • Travel deeper into the lands beyond the dark forest and overcome the adversities before you.

  • Discover beautiful wilderness filled with lost folk, strange creatures and mysterious ruins.

  • Find hope and carry it with you on your Journey to light The Last Campfire.

That being said, the game’s Steam page states that it will be released sometime in 2021. We don’t know the reason for this exclusivity, but for now, you can get the game on the Epic Games Store for $5.99.

The new content that is due to drop in October include “feudal fortresses, knockout knights, and pugilistic paladins,” there will also be new costumes, emotes, and more.

Fall Guys has become an instant hit after its release earlier this month. It has sold more than 7 million copies on Steam and is currently holding the crown of most downloaded PS Plus game of all time. A mobile version that will only be available in China is currently in the works.

resident evil tv series

Netflix has revealed that they are currently working on a new live-action Resident Evil TV series. The streaming giant revealed that the series will be produced by Constantin Films which is the same company that made the popular Resident Evil movies starring Milla Jovovich.

The new series will feature an original story set within two timelines of the Resident Evil universe. The first will feature Billie and Jade Wesker moving into New Raccoon City in their teenage years. Presumably, the kids are related to the game’s longtime antagonist Albert Wesker. As the story, progresses, the kids will find out that their father is hiding deep dark secrets.

The second timeline will jump 16 years in the future where the planet is already affected by the T-virus. This timeline will focus on Jade doing everything she can to survive a world invaded by zombies.

Supernatural co-executive producer and writer, Andrew Dabb, will be the executive producer, writer, and showrunner for the new Resident Evil TV series which will have a total of eight episodes for its first season. Bronwen Hughes, popularly known for his work in Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, and The Walking Dead, will reportedly direct the first two episodes of the series.

Even if the new Resident Evil TV series is being produced by the Constantin Films, it is still unsure if the story will crossover with the film franchise. Also, Netflix still hasn’t made any solid details about the series including its cast or release date.

Follow the 10 steps below to become a Pro Gamer

The Intel Extreme Masters tournament has now grown enormously since it began in 2007 into a global event with millions of fans following.  Esports in general have also grown exponentially.   Gamers are competing all over the world for huge prizes and take part in events like the International DOTA 2 championships and also the IEM grand finals.  Today there are even universities that are offering Esports scholarships.

It is possible for anyone to become a Pro Gamer, whether you want to get into solo or team competitions.  The following 10 steps may help to launch your gaming career.

1. Find what motivates you

Playing Esports for the right reasons is important, as is doing most things in life.  There are many valid reasons for playing Esports, like the joy of competition, the sense of satisfaction as you grow as a player, and the enjoyment and feeling of fulfillment you get from being part of a team and community.

These things will keep you motivated and involved.   Those players who are only attracted by the money, quick success, and fame are not likely to last long.  They may get to win the progressive jackpot but they will probably never become a pro gamer. If you truly love the game, the daily practice will be a labor of love and slowly you will gain the skills necessary for you to become a pro.

2. Choose your game

Once you have figured out what your motivation is you need to pick your game of choice.   You basically have two choices: choose a game that is trending or on the up and up or go with a more established game.  The advantage of choosing a well- established game is that everything you need, all the resources and infrastructure, is already there to support you in your goal.    Well-established games like League of Legenda, and Dota 2 have large followers and therefore many sponsored tournaments with worthwhile prizes.  However, these games are much harder for newcomers to access.

When a game is trending, players have the chance to participate in excavating the game and advancing the meta.   The original players of Rocket League and Player Unknowns’ Battlegrounds, for example, were pushed right up to the top of the Esports chart. Of course, it could be that the game you choose fails to thrive in the competitive scene and you will have to choose a different game.  The best thing to do is try a few games out and pick the one that really “speaks’ to you.

3. Joining a community

Pro gaming is of course about the person playing the game and his or her talent.  However, it is also about the culture that encompasses the game.   It is important to spend some time visiting the various forums and other spaces where players meet up.  It will give you an idea of where you are heading and if the path of the pro gamer which you are on is actually in line with who you are and your goals.

Getting involved in the community is important if you want to move forward with your career, getting to know the other players.   Being involved in the community you will learn the finer points of the game which are discussed in the forums and message boards. In order to keep up with the continual meta, it is important to go over it again and again and share it with the community you are connected to.  Being connected to a community will also keep you motivated to stay for the long haul.

4. Get the right gear

It is important to play using the right equipment. A good mouse and mechanical keyboard. There are a lot to choose from and you should pick those that work best for you.   You should practice regularly using the same mouse and keyboard every game. Pro gamers will use the same gear they use in the gaming house as they will to compete with on stage.   Getting used to your peripherals will help you to move to a tournament environment where it is more pressure.

Your hardware should also be consistent.  Those organizing pro gaming events, are very particular about choosing system components that are compatible with the gameplay.

5. Making time for practice

It is easy to find people to play with and against with services like ESEA and with in game matchmaking.   Winning is all about practice.

The first thing to do is to get a handle on the game’s mechanics.  Learn the specific skills needed for the game until they are rote.  Pro players are continually practicing in order to keep their skills sharp and even to make tiny improvements.  For new players, practice will make a huge difference as to how you improve your game.

At the same time that you are improving your skills you should begin to study the game’s main strategy. A good Esport will have a number of levels. Knowing your role in a particular level is a good start.  Often the meta used by pro gamers may be very difficult for those starting out to coordinate.

But it is actually good to watch top players. You can learn so much from watching videos and live streams, learning good habits and watching how a game should be played.   As you improve, you can go over your own games and review them and learn how you can, and have improved.

6. Moving up the ladder

If you have a strong desire to win at every stage of competition, you may became a pro player.  It would be necessary to top the scoreboard in pick-up groups, moving up the matchmaking ladder and being the only team remaining in tournaments.

Learn about the different hierarchies and levels of competition.  Each Esport has its own specific way of bringing in new players. For instance, CS:GO players generally progress from public games to matchmaking before going on to leagues and tournaments. Each Esport will have different paths.

As you climb the ladder, you will slowly make a name for yourself.  This may help you to get onto an amateur team and then maybe a pro gaming organization.

7. Locate a team

Finding a team is your next step.   Playing together with players that are more experienced than you and have a different range of skills is a really valuable. The truth is, if you are good and have built up a reputation, a team will likely approach you. But you can search for a team.  The site, Teamfind is worth looking into. It has forums for players to interact.

Being a good team player is obviously a requirement for team games lie CS:GO and Dota.  Find the position that you like and the players that you feel you have a connection with.   However, even playing solo games it is good to connect with people that share your passion.

8. Get noticed – compete

You need to make connections with others in order to move up the competitive ladder.  Networking is important at this stage.  You need to find players to compete with.   Developing relationships with better players can propel you into bigger and better places where you may meet the real elite players.  This is where you may get to break into a pro organization.

9. Keep Balanced

Learn to live a balanced life.  Professional gamers look after themselves.  They continue to live a balanced life of practice and regular non-gaming activities. Good nutrition, exercise, enjoying a good social life along with practice.  A healthy lifestyle includes all of these things and will help to keep you stay motivated.

10. Live as if you are already a pro

Becoming a pro does not happen overnight. It takes hard work and much practice. But it should not be all work and no play.  Learn as much as you can about the game, work on your social skills, and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 4 has just been released and one of the main features of the improved Battle Pass is a special superhero skin – a Fortnite Wolverine skin.

Just like the ones for Aquaman and Deadpool, the new Fortnite Wolverine skin and other rewards can be unlocked by finishing a set of special challenges that can be unlocked as the season progresses. In addition, players can also unlock a classic variant of the Fortnite Wolverine skin.

Wolverine is joined by fellow mutants Mystique and Storm as special Marvel skins that players can unlock upon purchase of the Season 4 Battle Pass.

How to unlock the Fortnite Wolverine skin

Players who want to get the exclusive Fortnite Wolverine skin must first purchase the new Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 4 Battle Pass. Players who don’t want to purchase the Battle Pass will miss out on massive rewards which include Wolverine’s skin.

After players have purchased the Battle Pass, they will need to finish a set of weekly challenges to get the Wolverine skin. Every week, new challenges will be unlocked and players will need to finish each one to earn the coveted skin.

Players shouldn’t have to worry about starting the challenges late since the tasks will still be available until the end of the season.

Where to find the Fortnite Wolverine skin weekly challenges

Unlike the other superheroes in the current Battle Pass, Wolverine cannot be unlocked by progressing through the Battle Pass. Instead, players will need to complete weekly challenges that will gradually be unlocked as the season progresses.

These challenges can be located by clicking on the Wolverine Challenges option on the main menu of the Battle Pass. After choosing this option, players will be brought to an outline of all Wolverine related rewards including the challenges that need to be completed in order to receive each one.

How to unlock the Classic Variant of the Fortnite Wolverine skin

After unlocking the Fortnite Wolverine skin, players can work their way to unlocking its Classic Variant which is the original version of the hero’s costume.

In order to do this, players must first unlock the Fortnite Wolverine skin by finishing the weekly tasks. Once this is achieved, players will still have to accomplish 10 challenges for Week 5 and Week 6. This doesn’t mean that players must finish all of the challenges of both weeks. Instead, players will have the ability to choose the challenges they want to complete.

Upon finishing these 10 challenges, the Classic Variant of the Fortnite Wolverine skin will be unlocked.

Fans shocked as Nintendo drops Nintendo Direct Mini, reveals games for Switch

0
nintendo direct

Nintendo surprises its fans with a Nintendo Direct Mini stream today. The broadcast featured news about a new Kingdom Hearts as well as new Final Fantasy titles. However, similar to the recently concluded Nintendo Direct Mini, there were no first-party game announcements.

Because of this, fans speculate that the awaited Super Mario All-star styled collection to be released on the Nintendo Switch will have to be announced on a different Direct – if the rumors are really true.

Here is the full announcement video:

The broadcast of this Nintendo Direct Mini means that fans will still have to wait for the next massive Nintendo Direct. The last time the Japanese gaming giant held a full Nintendo Direct was way back September last year.

Ever since the September 2019 Nintendo Direct, the company still held plenty of broadcasts but not as comprehensive as the proper Direct. The long wait accompanied by the Nintendo Switch’s simple release schedule for the following months only means the anticipation is limitless for the next proper Nintendo Direct.

There have been rumors that a proper Nintendo Direct is supposed to be released on Friday, August 28, 2020. However, the recent release of the Nintendo Partner Showcase Direct has put these rumors to the grave. In fact, it is improbable that Nintendo will release a full Direct broadcast after this surprise broadcast.

Today’s Direct Mini was longer and contained plenty of surprises compared to the previous one. The Direct Mini held last July was loved by JRPG fans. The stream unveiled the first Shin Megami Tensei V trailer since it was announced in 2017. In addition, Nintendo also announced that a remake of Shin Megami Tensei III was in the works.

However, for those who are not a fan of Japanese role-playing games, there was not much to be hyped about.

Today’s Nintendo Direct Mini broadcast again focused on one specific kind of genre – rhythm action games. There were tons of surprises for fans of this genre including Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory, Fuser – a DJ simulator, a new Just Dance game, and a Taiko No Tatsujin RPG.

In addition, there are also plenty of other genres covered in the stream including a showcase of a Switch version of World of Tanks, Big Rumble Boxing, Puyo Puyo, and a Tetris crossover. Nintendo also announced that Game Boy Final Fantasy games are arriving to the Switch.

The broadcast also gave updates on titles coming out this week including Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition, Jump Force Deluxe Edition, and Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions. Finally, Minecraft fans saw more footage of the upcoming Minecraft Dungeons Creeping Winter DLC coming to the Switch this September.
