Ever since Rocket League went free-to-play last year, the vehicular soccer game has been enjoying tremendous success, with thousands of concurrent players each day. Even until today, Psyonix and Epic Games continue to be gifts that keep on giving, as Rocket League continues receiving updates, game modes, and a myriad of new content every time.

Fans have really nurtured their creativity ever since the game’s release, as they decorate their cars in unique and different ways. In fact, Rocket League even lets its players utilize decals that represent different real-world esports teams.

However, there’s one particular vehicle that never gets included in all the fun when it comes to these esports decals, and we don’t really know why. Fortunately, in an upcoming Rocket League update, this will now change.

After the addition of NFL decals in a recent update, it has been confirmed that the game’s February 1 update will finally include Fennec decals for the first time ever in the history of Rocket League. Like the other decals, players will be able to find these in Rocket League’s Esports Shop.

The game’s official Twitter account also shared the good news, along with a short video footage showcasing some of the new Fennec decals, some esports decals, as well as a glimpse at the new and improved Esports Shop.

Asides from the addition of Fennec decals, which many fans have been waiting for, there will be some changes implemented to the revamped Esports Shop. For one thing, the Fennec decals will be available on the in-game shop for 300 Esports Tokens each, and items will no longer be rotated.

This change is great because players will be able to pick and choose the decals that they want to purchase without feeling any pressure. It’s also worth mentioning that Psyonix was definitely keeping notes of the fans’ complaints and feedbacks. For instance, Rocket League’s Neon Fields Arena, which was recently introduced to the game in the most recent season, received a couple of quality of life tweaks.

Thanks to these improvements, fans will be able to change how intense the visual effects of the arena are. They will be able to adjust the flashing effects, pulsing effects, the brightness, and many other visual effects that they want to manipulate to their liking.

This new and exciting update will officially go live on February 1 at 4:00 PM PST, so don’t forget to update as soon as possible to enjoy all these new benefits.

Even though Rocket League has a bunch of different vehicle types that players can choose from, the Fennec was introduced to the game back in 2019 and has since become a favorite among the fans.

After the new Fennec update was announced on Twitter, both fans and esports teams alike were thrilled with the addition of Fennec decals. Some even replied to the announcement with screenshots of the decals they’re most excited about.

Since Rocket League’s initial release, it has been a significant part of both the gaming and esports realms. Without a doubt, this cars-meets-soccer hybrid game has a bright future ahead of it, and we look forward to seeing what else Psyonix and Epic Games have planned for it.

Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood to Introduce NPC Companions

The Elder Scrolls Online is set to release a new expansion called Blackwood, and a new announcement reveals that it will be introducing an NPC companion system similar to that of Skyrim. This will be a great help to all those players who enjoy going through the game and all its missions on their own.

Recently, The Elder Scrolls Online dropped an intense cinematic trailer for the next part in its Gates of Oblivion story arc. This next installment will take place 800 years before Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, and players are tasked to stop Daedric Prince Mehrunes Dagon, the ruler of Oblivion.

This newest chapter is set to launch some time this summer, and will add a new swampy region called Blackwood for players to explore. This area is supposed to border the Argonian Black Marsh. The story arc for Gates of Oblivion will mark the beginning of a year-long storyline revolving around the Mehrunes Dagon. The good news is, those players who opt to play solo will be able to bring along an NPC companion during their journey.

NPC companions isn’t a new concept when it comes to Bethesda Softworks. The studio’s single-player titles such as Fallout 4 and Skyrim implement this kind of follower system, which can sometimes lead to strong unbreakable friendships or even romantic relationships.

The Elder Scrolls Online is an MMORPG, which means that players usually need to rely on the help of other players in order to successfully complete a mission or quest. With the upcoming Blackwood expansion, though, players have more options and can choose not to follow this kind of mechanic.

Aside from the new NPC allies, The Elder Scrolls Online will also introduce new world events, 12-player trials, as well as over 30 hours of content. Although this addition may seem like it’s not much compared to the plethora of content that’s heading to the title with the arrival of Blackwood, many fans are still looking forward to the companion system being implemented.

While it’s true that The Elder Scrolls Online does have quest followers, these characters will only temporarily accompany players, and they don’t really get to form lasting and memorable bonds with them. Not only will this new NPC companion system allow players to have deep friendships, romantic relationships will be brought to the table too. This offers fans countless and more impactful possibilities than ever before.

screenshot-www-youtube-com-2021-01-28-09_03_33

Creative Director Rich Lambert said during an interview with Game Informer that each companion will be unique, so much so that they will each have their own likes and dislikes. Then, after reaching the maximum possible affinity, players will be able to unlock “something special.”

This is somewhat reminiscent to the companion mechanics of Fallout 4—the actions of the Sole Survivor can affect their relationship with different characters, and when relationship levels get maxed out, there’s usually a perk that comes with it.

Lambert also shared two companions whom players will encounter and get to know, namely Bastion and Mary—a Knight and a Dunmer thief, respectively. Before players get to experience Blackwood and everything it has to offer later this year, though, the Flames of Ambition DLC will first head to The Elder Scrolls Online some time in March.

Genshin Impact Yakshas Gets New Story Trailer

Genshin Impact has just dropped a brand-new story trailer, and this time around, it’s all about the Guardian Adepti, which is the origin of the mysterious Yakshas. Thanks to this new story trailer, fans now have a better understanding of a certain five-star character and how their backstory fits into the world of Genshin Impact.

Many gamers all over the world using various platforms enjoy this open-world title by Chinese developer miHoYo, and it’s not just because it’s free-to-play—one of the reasons why it appeals to many is because of one vital gameplay mechanic, and that’s collecting a variety of playable characters. It basically implements a gacha system, which is something most commonly utilized in mobile games.

Each character is ranked by different star ratings, and as you can imagine, the five-star characters are the ones coveted the most. And in the next few weeks, miHoYo will be introducing a brand-new one. The upcoming five-star character, Xiao, who is one of the Yaksha guardians, is heading to Genshin Impact very soon.

As such, the developer released this new trailer to prepare fans and give them a little insight on the character’s background.

The trailer begins with a retelling of Liyue’s bleak past. With the nation being full of demons and slain gods, it was in a state of disarray. In an effort to remedy the ongoing catastrophe, the Geo Archon Rex Lapis (otherwise known as Morax) summoned the Guardian Yakshas. These guardians had one mission alone, and that was to never stop fighting and exterminating the demons.

However, the butchery would impact them mentally in the end. With their mental states broken and in shambles, the Guardian Yakshas either succumbed to the darkness or fought one another. Because of this, most of the Yakshas passed away, leaving only two left.

Now, there’s only one Yaksha left who still wanders throughout the mortal realm. According to the story trailer, the memory of this particular Yaksha continues to live on “in the glow from Guyun and in the sound of the Dihua flute.” With that, the trailer concludes with a shot of Xiao, which suggests that he’s the remaining Yaksha roaming the world.

One crucial part of action-RPGs like Genshin Impact is world lore, as it allows players to get really immersed in the game’s story and world. Genshin Impact has thoroughly changed and improved since its global launch last year, and miHoYo doesn’t plan on stopping this kind of progress anytime soon.

With each new character that gets introduced in-game, miHoYo also releases a story trailer to go along with them to get fans hyped. Even if you’re content with your current party and have no plans on switching it up any time soon, story trailers like Xiao’s are still great for lore purposes. The trailer’s visuals and art add a nice touch to the whole experience as well.

That being said, some fans may not even get to add Xiao to their party no matter how excited they may be for his release. After all, Genshin Impact is and will probably always be a gacha game above all else, and players would have to fork over real-world cash if they can’t summon him at the first try.

Pokemon Go players are currently very occupied enjoying the countdown to Pokemon Go Tour: Kanto, but there are also several smaller events between now and then to keep them busy. The last week of January and the first week of February still have lots of surprises in store and Niantic just announced two new forthcoming events that will provide players some time-limited research to finish in a hurry for exclusive rewards.

Although the planned list of January 2021 Pokemon Go Research has been locked in for weeks, things are in for an overhaul in the final week of the month as both a new timed research and limited research events are coming in the game.

The Pokemon Go Sneasel Limited Research will only be held for just a day on January 30, while a new timed research will let players work things out for nearly two weeks through a new Team Go Rocket storyline with an exclusive reward.

Of course, the Sneasel Limited Research event is going to be giving players a lot of Sneasel encounters but lucky players may also bump into the shiny form of the Pokemon. That should be enough to motivate players to log in and engage in the limited research when it arrives on January 30.

On the other hand, the new timed research has a more interesting reward at the end of the road. Players who manage to finish the timed research by February 7 will have the chance to encounter the Legendary Pokemon Ho-oh who knows the move Earthquake.

Sneasel Limited Research

“On Saturday, January 30, 2021, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. local time, you can complete event-exclusive Field Research tasks that lead to encounters with Sneasel. If you’re lucky, you might even encounter a Shiny Sneasel! You can also look forward to event-exclusive Timed Research.”

New Timed Research

“From Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. to Sunday, February 7, 2021, at 8:00 p.m. local time, you can complete a Team GO Rocket–themed Timed Research line that’ll lead to an encounter with a Ho-Oh that knows Earthquake. Good luck in completing this research challenge, Trainers!”

Both events have very interesting rewards and are possibly going to be very famous with the gaming community. Players should keep in mind that both events have a strict deadline associated with them, so players won’t want to waste their time. Players interested in the events should mark their calendars now and get ready for some action when they begin in just a few days.

New Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War Bundle Adds Unique Melee Weapon

Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War fans checking the in-game store today we’re treated to a surprise of a new melee weapon. In one of the game’s new cosmetic bundles, a wooden stake is purchasable – giving Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War players an advantage if vampires ever emerge in the game.

While the game recently witnessed the addition of a classy clown skin for Baker, players will need to have even more COD points if they want to avail the wooden stake melee weapon. A part of the “Most Dangerous Hunt” bundle, the wooden stake is accompanied by a charm featuring a carved hunting dog and a sticker featuring a deer’s skull. A couple of weapon blueprints can also be acquired from the bundle, adding to its value.

The first gun blueprint sees the Pelington 703 receiving a shiny wooden coating, making it appear like a classic hunting rifle as opposed to a military-grade weapon. The same treatment is provided to the Hauer 77, with the pump-action shotgun provided an appearance fitting of the customization bundle’s theme.

stake-bundle-black-ops-cold-war-4558302

With no operator skins or finishing moves included in this particular Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War bundle, it will only cost players 1500 COD points or roughly $15, which is an average price that sits a fair bit under some more of the more exclusive packs.

Most fans interested to purchase the “Most Dangerous Hunt” bundle will likely find the wooden stake melee weapon to be the most engaging element of the bundle, though fans looking for unique stats should be advised that this is not the case. By simply being a blueprint for Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War’s combat knife, players should anticipate the wooden stake to deal the same amount of damage as the game’s standard melee weapon.

For players who want something with more distinct stats, the Wakizashi Sword can be a good alternative. Once players acquire the companion sword of the katana, they can look forward to some extra range on their melee attacks at the cost of movement speed.

call-of-duty-black-ops-cold-war-dropkick-mode-5883247

This speed cost traded to a range buff is only improved further by carrying the sledgehammer, as the massive melee weapon excels at taking down single targets hastily but comes with the cost of a very slow recovery time.

Regardless of what melee weapon players use, though, it is great to see that fans of knife-only gameplay have various weapons to choose from. With this wooden stake certain to remind loyal fans of fighting vampires in the Call of Duty Zombies map Dead of the Night, fans of the survival mode can find the new blueprint enchanting as well.

Monster Hunter Rise Special Edition Switch Console and Controller Revealed By Nintendo

A special edition Nintendo Switch console and controller inspired by the style of Monster Hunter Rise has been announced. This is the second kind of uniquely designed Nintendo Switch to be unveiled so far this year, not long after the announcement of a blue and red colored Switch console inspired by Super Mario.

There has been a collection of specially styled or colored Switches launched throughout the console’s existence, but having two unique Switch styles announced in the same month is kind of unusual. These exclusive Switches are typically reserved for special events, which is why it is shocking to have two exclusive Switches announced within the span of a few weeks. Nintendo does launch new colored Joy-Cons by themselves on more circumstances though, as they are easier to launch than complete consoles with one of a kind paint jobs.

This announcement of a new Switch came from Nintendo of Japan, which has been translated to English by Nintendo Life. Alongside the console, there was also the reveal of a pro controller in an identical Monster Hunter Rise style, and the Switch also comes with the Monster Hunter Rise game.

As of writing, it appears that both the controller and console are exclusively available in Japan. The console is set at a 38,400 yen price tag while the Joy-Con costs 7,480 yen. Both are scheduled for launch on March 26, with preorders going live on February 27, 2021.

Monster Hunter has been on both Nintendo and Sony platforms. The franchise’s debut was on the PlayStation 2, but after Monster Hunter Tri launched on the Wii, the franchise stuck mainly to Nintendo consoles for some time.

It was not until Monster Hunter World launched on the PlayStation 4 that the franchise came back to Sony, but even that entry was launched on other platforms such as PC and Xbox One. Now, Monster Hunter is once again coming to the Nintendo Switch in the form of Monster Hunter Rise, but after this, the future is uncertain for the franchise.

Whether or not the next Monster Hunter launches on the PlayStation 5 or the next Nintendo console, odds are there will be a uniquely colored console launch to go along with it. There was a limited edition PlayStation 4 Pro launched with Rathalos designed on the front of the console to commemorate Monster Hunter World.

No matter the generation, there is a good possibility that there will be ways for fans of the franchise to deck out their consoles in style. In a few weeks, players can have a new Nintendo Switch for themselves along with Monster Hunter Rise on March 26, 2021.

Lord of the Rings Gollum Postponed to 2022

Developer Daedalic Entertainment is postponing Lord of the Rings Gollum from its initial 2021 release window to an obscure 2022 due date. They also revealed that the gaming studio is collaborating with Nacon, which will become a co-publisher of the project. Daedalic Entertainment first revealed Gollum back in 2019, while a teaser trailer posted last summer announced plans for a launch on the PC via Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation consoles. Shortly thereafter, news of a Nintendo Switch port went live.

The Middle-earth setting of the game is no stranger to video games. As a matter of fact, Lord of the Rings fans have spent a lot of time in the fictional landscape for the past few years, thanks to Monolith’s Shadow of War and Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor games.

btzprvxegyy6adxnghtzm-768-80-1276116

Gollum won’t be offering an identical action-focused experience, though. Rather, players will utilize Gollum’s agile nature to sneak around enemies and silently traverse environments. Very little of the game has been witnessed in action, so there are still several gameplay-related information about Gollum that remain in question.

However, players must wait for another year for more detailed information to surface, as Daedalic Entertainment has revealed that Lord of the Rings Gollum will no longer release this 2021. Now the game is set to launch on an undefined date next year, the developer revealed.

In unveiling the news, the development team additionally mentioned that they are collaborating with Nacon, previously known as Bigben Interactive, to co-publish the game. Supposedly, such collaboration should guarantee that the game “will meet the expectations of fans of The Lord of the Rings and fully leverage the power of the new generation of consoles.”

As always the case, the delay of upcoming games is ultimately good news. Hopefully, all those extra time will allow the developers to further smoothen the experience. Delays, in general, are becoming more frequent this year because of the lingering effects of the global pandemic on the gaming industry.

A few weeks ago, WB Games also postponed Hogwarts Legacy to next year then Ubisoft delayed the release of Riders Republic the very next day. Regardless, there are possibly a few more title delays on the horizon.

This year will still be full of amazing games, however. For instance, Resident Evil 8 will arrive in stores this May and Arkane’s Deathloop is set to release around the same time as well.

The Last of Us Part 2 Topples The Witcher 3 As Most Awarded Game Ever

The Last of Us Part 2 by Naughty Dog is now officially the most awarded game in video gaming history. When the game first launched, it instantly went on to crash records. Just three days after its release, it sold more than four million copies, becoming the fastest-selling PlayStation exclusive title to date.

In spite of fast sales, the story of The Last of Us part 2 divided the gaming community, or so anyone would think by looking at social media. Its disruptive character, Abby, and the actions she does in the game resulted in considerable and unreasonable backlash from fans of Joel. However, that has not stopped Laura Bailey, Abby’s actress, from winning the Performance of the Year award, and the game receiving the Game of the Year award during The Game Awards 2020.

495115ecf9d87e340e5-50782463-tloupii_preview_screenshot_06-1-696x391-1001717

A few months after its release, The Last of Us Part 2 continues to win various awards and break records. As featured on gameawards.net, The Last of Us Part 2 now has an unbelievable 261 awards to its name. This makes The Last of Us Part 2 the most awarded title in video game history, having beaten CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt off the pedestal, where it has stood for the past 5 years.

This total considers not just media outlet rewards, but as well as reader’s choice awards. It’s no surprise that the game keeps on getting credit. The development team surely put a big amount of effort and detail into the game. Even now, players are still uncovering interesting easter eggs that have been hidden in the massive map such as an eerie tribute to the Supernatural TV series.

A lot of The Last of Us Part 2 fans are now hoping that the developers will launch a new multiplayer feature to the game. After Naughty Dog hinted at something exclusive for “The Last of Us Day” in September, many were frustrated that it turned out to be merchandise instead of a The Last of us Factions-inspired add-on.

The Last of Us Part II: First hands-on impressions of gameplay | EW.com

With this said, even Factions from 2013 is still giving fans of the franchise surprises; The Last of Us speedrunner Anthony Caliber recently showcased a rarely known camera trick that happens during the gameplay, depending on whether the player is a female or a male.

While The Last of Us Part 2 continues to rise in the journals of gaming history, now that the development team at Naughty Dog is working on a new game, although what that is, remains a question. All that fans have been told that the new game is something “very cool,” by Naughty Dog Co-President Neil Druckmann.

Capcom Showcases New Armor For Monster Hunter Rise’s Palamute

screenshot-www-youtube-com-2021-01-27-06_44_35

The Monster Hunter Rise demo has been available on the Nintendo Switch eShop since a few weeks ago, and fans have been gleaning every possible bit of information about the game—no matter how miniscule—from the demo, especially since it will be removed from the storefront at the end of the month.

While players have been experiencing the game first-hand, Capcom continues to keep the hype going by sharing yet another video on the official Monster Hunter Rise Twitter account. This time around, the short clip showcases never-before-seen Palamute armor designs.

Palamutes, the new animal companion introduced in Monster Hunter Rise, is one of the most anticipated aspects of the upcoming game. Even though the franchise already had a feline companion in the form of the Palico, a big portion of the series’ fanbase probably felt a surge of excitement when the developer announced the inclusion of canines.

Seeing as the Palamutes offer new activities, such as giving players the ability to pet them, there’s no doubt that many are looking forward to adorning their canine companion with different armor for aesthetic purposes. Now, Monster Hunter Rise’s recent Twitter post gives fans an idea of what their Palamute would look like when equipping armor—needless to say, it makes the canine look both fierce and adorable at the same time.

The short video showcased six different Palamute armor, as well as one new Palico armor. Fans with sharp attention to detail may notice that these armor designs are based off of the monsters that were revealed during the digital event that took place recently.

The different armor from the short clip featured designs that were a clear nod to various in-game monsters, such as the Khezu, Great Baggi, Tigrex, Barioth, and Lagombi. It was previously confirmed that these monsters will reside in the Frost Islands, which is a brand-new area in Monster Hunter Rise.

Going through the video, fans will probably feel a surge of affection for these fierce canines, or perhaps even some form of nostalgia, as they see the Tigrex gear with the blue and orange scales, the Khezu equipment and its rubber-like texture, and the Lagombi armor with its fluffy pom-poms which make the Palamute look both comfy and luxurious.

That being said, there’s one armor set from the video that stands out, and it’s the one made out of the new monster, the Goss Harag. This particular set is so unique that Monster Hunter Rise’s development team added footage showing both the Palamute and the Palico equipping the gear.

Capcom has yet to reveal what Palico or Palamute gear designs can be made out of the rest of the monsters. After all, there’s a bunch of them that the developer has yet to give special attention to, including Bishaten, Somnacanth, Tetranodon, and others.

Hopefully, Capcom will share what the Palico and Palamute gear designs for these monsters will be, as players are interested in this kind of content and will surely excite both old and new fans even more.

EA Play For Just A Dollar For New Subscribers

0
1598887739_eaplay_story

Starting today until March 9, all new EA Play subscribers will get their first month of service for only $1. The publisher revamped its online subscription service a few months ago, merging Origin Access and EA Access under the EA Play umbrella. EA’s subscription service also made the news last 2020 because of the company’s collaboration with Xbox which allowed all Xbox Game Pass subscribers access to EA Play at no extra expense.

EA Play, available on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC, charges players $5 each month for an array of options. For instance, members receive a 10% discount on all EA digital purchases such as full games or DLC. EA Play also allows players to try out some new releases from EA for up to 10 hours.

eaplay-socialpost-spotlight-fifa21-16x9-png-adapt_-crop191x100-628p-1501255

Subscribers also gain additional access to exclusive rewards and a library of games published by EA. Most notably, Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order was added to EA Play last November; by expansion, Xbox Game Pass subscribers can also enjoy the critically acclaimed game as well.

Encouraging more people to give the subscription an opportunity is a deal from EA, in which new EA Play members can join and receive their first month for a discounted price of $1. Once the first month ends, the monthly fee will return to the usual $5 price tag.

This deal concludes March 9 and only applies to new subscribers across all platforms. It’s worth mentioning, though, that whatever platform a player chooses is the one they must stick with. Hence, a PlayStation 5 user can’t take advantage of their EA Play membership on a PC.

xgp_eaplay_hero-5447585

EA Play at just a dollar is an amazing deal for new fans who are interested in what the service has to offer. Typically, a player can play the small fee, then spend the next 30 days playing their way through Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order. Such an undertaking would specifically prove helpful for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 owners, provided the recent launch of Fallen Order’s next-gen update.

Hopefully, the next big EA-related news is about a specific date for EA Play’s functionality on PC with Xbox Game Pass. The two remarkable services were initially meant to combine on PC back in December. At the last minute, however, the companies pushed back this availability to an unidentified date this year. Neither Microsoft nor EA have mentioned an update on the matter since then.
