Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Players Discover League of Legends Easter Egg

It’s already been a month since Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was released, but players still continue to discover a variety of Easter eggs and other hidden gems as they explore the game’s expansive world. This recently-discovered reference was even confirmed on Twitter by Samantha Webb, one of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s writers and narrative designers.

So far, players have come across a wealth of interesting and unexpected Easter eggs, from Winnie the Pooh to even the popular tabletop RPG Dungeons & Dragons. This time around, however, the Easter egg pertains to another renowned video game.

One would expect Ubisoft to self-insert other games from its repertoire, such as Watch Dogs or perhaps previous titles in the Assassin’s Creed franchise. However, this one is a surprising nod to Riot Games’ League of Legends instead.

Players can find this Easter egg when talking with Birstan, one of the characters that players will meet in one of the game’s quests. During the conversation, Birstan will inform Eivor, the playable protagonist, about their upcoming boar hunt.

In line with this, Birstan makes a passing appreciative comment about boars, saying that the creature is a “majestic animal.” Eivor responds by saying that they “once knew a strong-armed shield maiden who rode a boar into battle.” This intriguing maiden named her boar Bristle-Bold. Birstan finds this story strange and confirms that they won’t be riding any boars that day.

League of Legends fans who have a soft spot for the more classic Champions will easily recognize that Eivor’s story is a quick reference to Sejuani, a Champion who is known for riding a boar named Bristle into battle.

When Twitter user @notquitefrodo shared a clip of their discovery, Samantha Webb, who played a part in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s development, happily responded with a confirmation that Eivor’s offhand remark was indeed a League of Legends reference.

It’s such a tiny detail that it wouldn’t be surprising if it went overlooked, especially by those who aren’t familiar with League of Legends and consequently Sejuani. In any case, this is simply one of the many Easter eggs found in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla that adds to the game’s humor.

That being said, hidden secrets and references aren’t the only things holding Assassin’s Creed Valhalla together. There are countless aspects of the game that has led to numerous positive reviews, even keeping up the positive responses after almost a month of being released.

However, we’re not discrediting these hidden gems at all. While they can be sometimes jarring and have a tendency to break the immersion, we appreciate these lighthearted moments because it gives us a minute of reprieve from the brutal drama taking place in-game.

Asides from that fact though, it’s nice to see Ubisoft referencing a game by a top competitor in such a wholesome and endearing way, especially since companies would usually reference other studios in a sarcastic or boastful manner.

At this point, we can’t imagine that more Easter eggs will be discovered but we wouldn’t be surprised at the same time if there were. We’re definitely excited to see if any more video game references will pop out in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla as time goes on.

IO Interactive Releases New Hitman 3 Gameplay Trailer

The first Hitman game was released in 2016 while Hitman 2 was launched in 2018. Now, IO Interactive will be releasing Hitman 3 on January 2021, which will introduce Agent 47 and all of his fatal weapons to the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.

As such, Hitman 3 is already touted to be the most ambitious installment in the franchise so far, especially since it’s going to come with new and expansive maps for players to explore. It’s somewhat bittersweet to think about how this upcoming title will be the final entry in the World of Assassination trilogy.

That being said, those who are interested to know how Hitman 3 will play and what it has in store for the fans will be happy to know that IO Interactive has dropped a brand-new gameplay trailer for the title.

The new trailer is entitled “Introducing Hitman 3,” and it showcases the gameplay along with a few intense and vicious kills. Players will also get to see a glimpse of the new locations.

Long-time fans of the Hitman franchise will find the footage familiar though, as it basically consists of the familiar core structure of the series: assess the target, hide in plain sight by utilizing different disguises, plan how the kill should go, and then put the plan to action.

As expected of a franchise that involves assassinations, Hitman 3 will include some pretty brutal kills, with the gameplay trailer even showing Agent 47 strangling enemies with a fiber wire. There are also other scenes wherein he kills off targets from afar using a sniper rifle, while more up-close encounters has him using his silverballer silenced pistol.

Naturally, Agent 47 will be able to utilize disguises and a variety of outfits once again, perfect for situations where he has to infiltrate areas by blending in. Asides from that, the gameplay trailer also highlights the new and extravagant locations, specifically focusing on the previously-announced Chongqing, Dubai, and Thornbridge Manor maps.

These areas appear to be jam-packed with potential targets and killing methods, including the opportunity to drop chandeliers on enemies, poisoning expensive and delicious meals, or perhaps arranging meetings that turn out to be deadly.

IO Interactive ends the trailer by discussing Hitman 3’s mastery levels. More specifically, those players who want to experience and explore every part of a map will be able to unlock new weapons, outfits, starting locations, and many more. According to the trailer, there are “20 mastery tiers per level,” so completionist gamers will have extra tasks to consider.

From what we can infer based on the trailer alone, Hitman 3 seems to be yet another solid entry by IO Interactive and we can’t wait to experience it for ourselves next month. Speaking of the developer, 2020 was a pretty great year for IO Interactive.

For one thing, the studio announced Hitman 3 in June of this year, and by November, the company had accumulated more or less 70 million players. That’s not even the biggest news, though — IO Interactive announced last month that it’s currently developing Project 007, a brand-new James Bond title that will supposedly focus more on the character and his origins.

The game doesn’t have a release date just yet, but it’s safe to assume that Project 007 will be the next big IO Interactive project after Hitman 3.

Persona 5 Strikers Gets Early 2021 Release Date

Thanks to a leak, Persona fans have known about the English release of Persona 5 Strikers for a couple of days now. Now, Atlus has officially confirmed that the game will be released to Western fans on February 23, 2021 for PC, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4.

The announcement trailer was previously leaked, but any information about preorders wasn’t included in the leak. Even though Persona 5 Strikers won’t be available until early 2021, interested fans will be able to preorder the game starting December 10.

The official website specifically states that preorders will go live on December 10 at 4 PM PST / 7 PM EST, while those who follow the GMT timezone can start preordering on December 11 at 12 AM GMT.

In line with this, Atlus also included a few details regarding the game’s preorder bonuses as well as additional content, although this information has since been removed from the site. Fortunately, many fans were able to spot these details before they were taken down.

First and foremost is the Launch Edition, which will be available on all three aforementioned platforms. This edition will contain a digital soundtrack that has more than 40 songs, along with an exclusive behind-the-scenes video and a digital artbook.

Exclusive to the Switch version of the game is a Steelbook Edition, which has everything from the Launch Edition but with an additional steelbook case. It’s worth mentioning, however, that this addition appears to only be available on Best Buy.

Lastly, there’s the Digital Deluxe Edition for PC. This one comes with all the extras from the Launch Edition, including the Persona Legacy BGM & All-Out Attack Pack DLC. Players who get this edition and consequently this DLC will be able to enjoy extra battle themes from previous titles such as Persona 4 Golden and the original Persona game.

Since the Digital Deluxe Edition is only available for PC users, hopefully Atlus will release the DLC as a separate download so that PS4 and Nintendo Switch players can experience it too. In line with this, those who preorder from GameStop will be given an exclusive pin of Joker, the protagonist of Persona 5.

For the unfamiliar yet interested gamers, Persona 5 Strikers — also known as Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers in Japan — is considered to be Persona 5’s sequel and reunites the members of the Phantom Thieves of Hearts for a road trip.

However, as expected, things just don’t go as planned. Strange incidents begin to take place during what was supposed to be a relaxing outing, and the Phantom Thieves soon discover a brand-new realm wherein peoples’ hearts are being taken away.

As a result, the group returns to action in order to take back the stolen hearts and get to the bottom of these incidents. Deviating from the usual RPG setup of Persona, Persona 5 Strikers will instead have similar gameplay to the Dynasty Warriors franchise.

As a matter of fact, the game is even developed by both Atlus and Omega Force, the latter being the same studio that worked on Dynasty Warriors. That being said, RPG elements from Persona 5 will still be present in this game, so there’s no need to worry.

There are only a few days left before Cyberpunk 2077 is finally released globally. At this point, it’s hard to believe that the highly-awaited title is finally getting launched after more or less eight years of waiting for many gamers in the community.

To ensure that the hype train keeps going, developer CD Projekt Red has released Cyberpunk 2077’s launch trailer ahead of its official release date, compressing what the game has to offer in an action-packed 2-minute video.

From the start, Cyberpunk 2077 was already touted to be an expansive game, but players who finally get their hands on a copy may come to realize that Night City is bigger than they have initially thought — and this launch trailer does a great job at conveying that.

The launch trailer mostly highlights the playable protagonist, V, and the ways they can interact with the world as well as the characters. From the numerous trailers released before down to this newest one, it clearly shows that CD Projekt Red has painstakingly put in a lot of time and effort to seamlessly integrate V into the world of Cyberpunk 2077. Thanks to the launch trailer though, players are now aware that Cyberpunk 2077’s narrative is deeper than they initially anticipated. In other words, the game isn’t as simple as some give it credit for.

With that being said, we’re definitely excited to see how well Cyberpunk 2077 will play and if it’s as good as it’s touted to be, especially since the title has been hyped and promoted for such a long time.

While some reviewers and other fans who were able to get their hands on a copy early complained that the game had some game-breaking bugs, these will most likely get fixed as soon as the Day One patch goes live.

In line with this, Philipp Weber, Cyberpunk 2077’s senior quest designer and coordinator, surprisingly defended these negative reviews by saying that instead of focusing on scores, it’s best to read and understand the words written by the reviewer instead to see just how each individual has interesting perspectives.

According to a brand-new PlayStation trailer showcasing the “new and upcoming games” that are headed to the next-gen console, the new game that Square Enix is currently working on is set to be a console exclusive for 2 years at most. In other words, the game will be restricted within the confines of the PlayStation 5 for quite some time.

Project Athia, which is the game’s working title, is pretty much shrouded in darkness and mystery right now, as no one really has any substantial information about the game asides from a few vague trailers. There’s not a lot of footage available either that could possibly help us figure out what the game is all about.

In addition, Square Enix and its fans have directed their full attention to Final Fantasy 16 at the moment, especially since the upcoming title has officially been revealed. In any case, there’s a lot to unpack concerning timed PlayStation console exclusives.

Gamers have previously criticized this practice because it feels like it unnecessarily separates the different players who make use of different platforms, which negatively affects multiplayer titles most of all.

However, the fact that Godfall will be yet another timed PS5 exclusive is a clear indication that this practice will most likely continue indefinitely. As such, there’s still a chance that the length of time will be reduced as development goes on, especially if they see how negatively the players have reacted to the announcement.

When looking or thinking about the bigger picture though, the fact that Square Enix’s new project will only be available on one specific console for quite a long time makes one worry about the future of upcoming games.

Godfall will only be exclusively available on the PS5 for more or less 6 months. We hope that future console exclusive games will follow this kind of timeframe because 2 years just seems way too long.

Project Athia might be under the radar now due to the fact that it doesn’t have a huge following just yet, so we hope that the 2-year exclusivity will be reconsidered once more gamers become invested in the game.

Nendoroid Figure for Kingdom Hearts 2’s Riku Has Been Announced

A couple of weeks ago, Good Smile Company revealed a brand-new Nendoroid version of Sora from Kingdom Hearts 2. In line with this, the company has recently announced yet another Nendoroid based on another Kingdom Hearts 2 character: Riku.

Nendoroid figures of characters from the first game were already released before, but now fans are given the chance to update their collection with these newer and better versions from the sequel.

This new and improved Riku Nendoroid even comes with different proportions to show just how much he has grown from the first title. That being said, the Riku figure will come with two different face plates. The first face plate shows Riku with a serious expression, while the second one has the character smiling. For buyers who want to change the face plate, they can simply remove his bangs.

Among other things, other items that are a part of the package include Riku’s “Way to the Dawn” keyblade, as well as Kairi’s letter and the bottle that came with it. Since Nendoroid’s have removable and swappable parts, fans who have the Sora Nendoroid can use his hand to allow Riku to hold the letter.

By doing so, dedicated fans will be able to recreate a memorable scene in the Kingdom Hearts franchise, albeit in Nendoroid form. With that in mind, it’s worth noting that the Riku figure can swap items with the Sora figure, but both products have to be bought separately.

The Riku Nendoroid will also have additional parts for the arms, hands, and legs. Just like all the other Nendoroid figures sold by Good Smile Company, this one will have a clear, plastic base as well. For those who want Riku to do a couple of poses, they can insert a similarly-clear plastic peg into the figure’s back.

The Nendoroid is now available for preorder until early next year, specifically on January 7, 2021. As such, interested buyers should definitely get their hands on the figure as soon as possible just in case stocks run out, especially since the Good Smile Company website doesn’t state if the company has plans to re-release this particular figure in the future.

There are different storefronts wherein players can preorder, such as the official website of Good Smile Company and other authorized resellers.

As for the Nendoroid of Sora from Kingdom Hearts 2, fans can still preorder the figure until December 10. Besides, fans can save on shipping if they preorder both Nendoroids of Riku and Sora now — having both gives players the opportunity to re-enact scenes from the game.

That being said, Sora’s figure is expected to ship a month before Riku’s, which means that fans will have to wait a little bit before they can reunite the two characters. It’s also worth mentioning that Sora is more expensive than Riku, possibly because his figure comes with more accessories, including a face plate wherein Sora is eating a popsicle.

Given how popular the Kingdom Hearts franchise is in general, fans are hoping that Good Smile Company will release more characters from the series, allowing them to collect their favorites.

miHoYo Won’t Be Giving Genshin Impact’s Zhongli A Buff

Zhongli was recently released as a playable character in Genshin Impact, and while many were thrilled that they could finally play as the stoic 5-star character, others found an issue with his performance. In light of this, miHoYo has decided to address the fans’ concerns by stating that he won’t be receiving any buffs for now.

Even though a deluge of players has requested miHoYo to make some changes to Zhongli, it appears that the character will stay the same. In Genshin Impact’s official forums, the developer has given an explanation for their reasons why they stand firm in their decision.

Genshin Impact, the free-to-play open-world multiplayer by Chinese developer miHoYo, has seen tremendous success since its global launch a few months ago. As a matter of fact, the title was able to accumulate $400 million within two months on mobile platforms alone.

Those who have been playing Genshin Impact since the beginning are pretty much familiar with the game’s gacha and banner system. Every now and then, the game changes it’s event banners, introducing new characters that players can attempt to pull when making a Wish.

One of the characters in the recent event banner titled “Gentry of Hermitage” features the 5-star Zhongli, giving players higher pull rates for the said character.

However, those who were lucky enough to obtain Zhongli were disappointed to find that his attacks and abilities just didn’t deal as much damage as they should, especially given the fact that he’s supposed to be a 5-star character.

Genshin Impact may be a free-to-play game, but this doesn’t erase the reality that it also has microtransactions. In line with this, fans can acquire new playable characters by making a Wish, which requires them to either grind the game in order to accumulate enough resources or use real-world money. Either way, those who were able to pull Zhongli felt like their time and/or money went to waste on him.

That being said, developer miHoyo has addressed the situation by saying that it won’t be making any changes to Zhongli, much to the fans’ frustration. The developer acknowledged that it has indeed heard their requests and are currently analyzing the character, however, miHoYo has no plans of making adjustments at the moment.

MiHoYo does follow this statement by saying that it will keep on analyzing the character and how he’s being used by players.

In miHoYo’s response, the developer also mentioned that even though players mainly use the character for attacking enemies, this doesn’t erase the fact that Zhongli is supposedly a support character.

As such, this explains why his abilities are more focused on creating shields, as his purpose is to “protect other characters in the Party.” In addition to that, miHoYo gave a statistical overview of Zhongli from the game’s data, which shows that the character has been a useful member of players’ parties thus far.

As expected, many fans in the announcement’s comment section displayed disappointment. Some fans say that Zhongli underperforms so much that other 4-star characters are better than he is.

For now, we have to be patient with miHoYo as it further analyzes the character. Hopefully, the developer will do something about this issue so that players will continue enjoying the game.
