Fortnite Bug is Reason Fortnitemares Halloween Challenges Ended Early

0
maxresdefault-20-2

Because of an unexpected bug, the annual Fortnitemares Halloween event challenges ended in Fortnite a day earlier than scheduled. Although the celebration already lasted for almost three weeks, even a single wasted day is a problem considering how many rewards could have been unlocked by players on its final day.

The Fortnitemares Halloween event is a yearly commemoration of the scariest time of the year. Similar to almost every other live-service game in the market, Fortnite releases themed in-game celebrations with a plethora of unlockable freebies for players to grind. This year, the returning event leaked earlier, revealed roughly a dozen cosmetics and skins modeled after undead monsters like zombies and vampires, as well as skins for pickaxes and backpacks.

Based on a November 2 emergency update posted on the Fortnite Status Twitter account, an unanticipated bug is to blame for the early end of Fortnitemares Halloween event. Sadly, the development team wasn’t able to simply restart the event so that players could complete them as intended.

Instead, the developers are planning on a better solution for the concerned players in order to repay them for their troubles. There’s no specific date on when a fix will be instated, but once it is prepared, the developers will immediately inform the gaming community.

Some fans might have been a few steps away from completing the entire set of challenges, and judging by the replies to the tweet, they are relieved to learn that a solution is on the way. The current Fortnitemares Halloween challenges weren’t super hard to finish, but they nonetheless needed some effort, mostly in finding and properly pulling off the objectives.

One of the easiest challenges was the Shadow-related quest which demanded players to die and respawn as a notorious ghost three times during the Halloween-inspired Fortnitemares game mode. It didn’t involve any particular skills but was an assured 40,000 points in the bag.

A different, considerably more complex challenge was the Shadow Midas challenge which demanded players to fight and defeat the powerful antagonist in order to obtain a Mythic Weapon. Basing on the fact that the Fortnitemares challenges are first and foremost centralized on giving new cosmetics, the development team’s restorative fix will possibly involve forking the missing freebies over to players who joined the event.

It’s improbable that Epic Games will treat each member of the Fortnite gaming community with these Halloween apology rewards, but those who were on the brink of finishing the whole set of challenges can likely expect reasonable compensation for their efforts.

Indie Horror Title ‘Lone Survivor’ Gets Remake After 8 Years

In a recent announcement by developer Jasper Byrne, the highly-acclaimed indie survival horror game from 2012, Lone Survivor, will be getting a remake for PC and Nintendo Switch, along with a brand-new scenario.

Super Lone Survivor, which is the title of the remastered version, is set to release in 2021. While the original title wouldn’t be the first game that would come to mind when thinking about remakes, horror and indie fans will surely enjoy this one.

The remake was announced during Halloween and it feels very timely given the fact that the game itself has a truly chilling vibe to it. Jasper Byrne announced the coming of Super Lone Survivor by releasing a creepy 37-second teaser trailer.

The teaser trailer doesn’t reveal much about what you can expect in Super Lone Survivor, but it does set the tone for the upcoming remake. We can see characters riding the subway, while an unknown person says “this might be it for you, bro.”

Despite being a pixel-art game, it’s clear to see that Byrne’s horror title is set in a post-apocalyptic universe. Indie developers have always played a huge role in expanding and improving upon the horror genre in many out-of-the-box ways, and Lone Survivor is definitely a great example of this.

That being said, the remake, Super Lone Survivor, won’t simply be repeating the same content from 2012. Of course, it will still be the same familiar game, but there will be a brand-new scenario this time around named Ascending.

Although we have yet to find out what will be included in this new scenario, we’re sure that the developer will share a few more details in the future. However, Byrne does say that for now, he doesn’t know just how long he plans Ascending to be, but he goes on to say that “the story feels relevant right now.”

Probably one of the most impressive aspects of Byrne’s announcement is the fact that the game is being remade from scratch in order to make use of the new Nintendo Switch and PC technology.

screenshot-www-youtube-com-2020-11-04-17_06_18

In other words, the game will be able to make use of the new features available on the new engine being used, such as parallax scrolling, brand-new effects, and shadows. Not only that, but players who have ultrawide monitors or computers with a high refresh rate will be able to play the game smoothly.

As a matter of fact, Byrne claims that Super Lone Survivor is already capable of running 60 FPS on the Nintendo Switch. We’re super excited to see for ourselves just how well this game will play on our modern systems.

That being said, the developer never planned to make a sequel for Lone Survivor, but this upcoming remake with its new additions will hopefully inspire its creators to work on another similar title.

There are a lot of video game remakes that are being worked on right now, and while Super Lone Survivor was not an expected addition to the list, this eerie indie game will surely stand out from the rest once it gets released next year.

Enhanced Editions of BloodRayne 1 and 2: Terminal Cut Are Coming to PC

Vampire games and the vampire genre as a whole has always had a place in many people’s hearts. The genre itself is pretty flexible, which is why there’s a variety of games available – from action-adventure games like Legend of Kain to RPG ones like Vampire: The Masquerade.

When people think of vampire video games, a lot of players usually think about Castlevania. However, there’s one other franchise that has been on the down-low for many years now, and that is BloodRayne.

The BloodRayne series is truly one of the classics, as you play as a female dhampir named Rayne who fights Nazis and gathers ancient artifacts. If you think about it, this game would probably be the love child of Indiana Jones and Lovecraft.

Now, it has been announced that the two original BloodRayne games are going to be released again, only this time with better graphics along with many new improvements for fans to enjoy.

Fans have already known for a while now that BloodRayne 1 and 2 will be releasing enhanced editions. The new announcement here is the fact that the titles now have a release date, and it’s just around the corner.

According to the two games’ respective Steam listings, both titles will be launched this coming November 20 on Steam and GOG. This time around, they will be titled BloodRayne: Terminal Cut & BloodRayne 2: Terminal Cut.

These two remastered games come with better, more improved graphics and cutscenes than their original counterparts. Developer Terminal Reality has ensured that these newly-enhanced versions will run swimmingly on Windows 10 and other modern computers, as it tries to revitalize a franchise that has been dormant for about 16 years already.

Despite that long amount of time, fans of BloodRayne seem to be ecstatic about this re-release. This just goes to show that the game’s community hasn’t forgotten about the series yet.

Even amidst countless vampire titles, BloodRayne has always had a few edges that made it stand out from the rest, one of which is the main character herself. Rayne is one extremely acrobatic character, and with her incredible blade work, she’s truly a considerable half-vampire to contend with.

screenshot-www-youtube-com-2020-11-04-15_03_47

In other news, those who love gore and messy combat scenes will surely enjoy these two games. Those who get eliminated by Rayne almost always have messy and bloody deaths, whether she drains them of their blood or by cutting them limb from limb until they bleed out.

Since the two titles will be getting enhanced editions, you can expect these bloody scenes to become more high-definition. That being said, it doesn’t seem like publisher Ziggurat will be releasing these upcoming remasters to consoles, unlike the initial games.

Those who have previously bought the original titles on Steam or GOG will be able to download the remastered versions for free once they’re released, so that’s definitely great news for the fans.

Hopefully, BloodRayne: Terminal Cut and BloodRayne 2: Terminal Cut will be able to quench the fans’ thirst for new BloodRayne content, at least until Terminal Reality releases more installments for the series – if that ever happens, that is.

Niantic has announced the details for the fifth season of Pokemon Go. Season 5, which was mentioned in a season 4 blog post will be shorter and will run for only three weeks rather than the usual six. However, the developers will be adding a lot of new content for trainers to undertake in the meantime, even though the upcoming season appears to be more of an opportunity for players to recollect before the sixth season. Season 5 will be officially starting on November 9, after the game celebrates the Day of the Dead event on November 1 and 2.

Pokemon Go Season was first introduced last March, and usually run for about six weeks and will feature various rewards and events. In the past seasons, trainers enhanced their ranks via a performance-based training system where they earn or lose points during battles they have engaged in, depending on the enemy and whether they won or lost. However, in the upcoming season, this has been changed with a system that computes rank based on how many battles a trainer has completed.

This will also likely be the season that initiates the promise of Niantic to shake up its selection of Pokemon available from hatching eggs. Starfield Confirmed To Be A Purely Singleplayer Game

The past couple of months have been pretty hectic for Bethesda Softworks and Zenimax Media, its parent company. Probably the most shocking news was when it was revealed that Microsoft acquired the company for $7.5 billion.

In other words, Microsoft and consequently Xbox now have exclusive access to a library of high-quality titles, such as The Elder Scrolls, DOOM, Wolfenstein, Fallout, and a lot more. On the other hand, Bethesda now has access to new resources as well as funds that will aid the studio in developing its upcoming games. It’s pretty much a win-win situation.

Although the games that Bethesda is currently working on won’t be released anytime soon, Director and Executive Producer Todd Howard has shared a couple of details that will give the fans an idea about what to expect.

During the recent Develop: Brighton Digital conference this year, one of the highlights was Todd Howard and his career so far. The session lasted for about an hour, in which Howard talked about how he began as a developer and his start at Bethesda.

He also discussed the countless games that have been created in that studio, as well as some of the creative decisions made for popular titles such as Fallout and The Elder Scrolls. Near the end of the interview though, Howard briefly touched upon what the future has in store for the studio, along with some of its upcoming games such as Starfield.

Here, Howard confirmed that Starfield will no longer follow the Fallout 76 model. Instead, it will return to the roots of Bethesda and its older titles by making Starfield a completely singleplayer game. In other words, you won’t be able to find any kind of multiplayer aspect featured in the upcoming title.

Among other things, Bethesda is planning to give Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6 NPCs a more significant role. In addition, the studio wants to expand on the games’ maps and make the cities bigger and wider than ever before.

Fans will also be happy to know that the Creation Engine has been considerably revamped for the next batch of games that will be released.

screenshot-bethesda-net-2020-11-04-14_03_13

Previously, there were rumors circulating that Bethesda had an engine change due to discovered LinkedIn listings. However, Howard confirmed that changes have been made in the studio, such as character animations, procedural map generation, rendering, and so much more.

According to the Executive Producer, the change in technology is quite huge. In fact, it would be safe to say that it’s bigger than the changes that were made from Morrowind to Oblivion.

That being said, Howard has said that the release of Starfield won’t happen until a few years from now, despite all these new and exciting information. Besides, everyone is still quite curious to know if Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6 will be available on other platforms, especially since the studio is a part of Microsoft now.

Players have been wondering this for some time now, and even other people with authority such as Phil Spencer have been unable to answer it. Hopefully, these games will remain available to multiple platforms so that a wider audience will be able to experience them.

New Gameplay Trailer Released for Tribes Of Midgard

A brand-new gameplay trailer for Tribes of Midgard has been dropped recently, which gives fans an idea as to how the game works and what it will look like once played. The co-op survival action-RPG is scheduled to be released some time this 2021 for the PC and PS5.

Introduced by Norsfell Game’s community manager, Sydnee McLeod, the trailer shows off the gameplay mechanics of Tribes of Midgard as well as its design which is heavily inspired by the Vikings. McLeod also explains the importance of the Seed of Yggdrasil, and how ensuring that it remains alive is a vital part of the game.

Reminiscent of classic titles such as The Legend of Zelda, Tribes of Midgard has all kinds of dark entities that come out at night and it’s your responsibility to fight them off so that they don’t reach the precious Seed.

What’s more, these monsters and their attacks get more and more powerful as it gets closer to Ragnarok. That being said, Tribes of Midgard has a decent amount of customization, which is always a fun addition in any video game.

You will be able to customize their Viking character to their liking. If you want to play with other people, you can form a tribe of up to ten individuals via the co-op mode. Exploring the world of the game seems like an exciting endeavor, especially since it has beautifully-made surroundings and details.

In addition to that, you will be able to find and gather materials and resources as you explore the area. These resources will be useful for crafting all kinds of items, such as weapons, armor, potions, and more.

Players are also given the option to create bridges in order to cross bodies of water. Consequently, doing so will also expand your map. At the same time, these bridges can easily be destroyed to ensure that invaders won’t be able to pass.

Just like your average RPG, your character will be able to earn a brand-new ability when they level up. These new abilities will aid you as you fight hordes of enemies.

ss_f783845cc80574faecc55176cb28ba005c6020b3-1920x1080-5367660

That being said, the Seed of Yggdrasil isn’t just some frail thing that needs protecting. McLeod mentions that Tribes of Midgard uses the Seed of Yggdrasil as another mechanic in the game. Namely, the Seed of Yggdrasil is described as a “soul-drinking tree,” and you can offer the souls of your fallen enemies to it so that it can feed.

Among the dark creatures that you have to contend with are giants. The fact that giants could possibly arrive at any moment to wreak havoc and pummel your character to its doom gives you a sense of dread as you further explore the map.

It’s quite similar to the popular anime and manga series known as Attack on Titan, wherein the residents of the town of Shiganshina are constantly worried of the ever-hungry Titans from behind their protective walls.

On the bright side, however, giants will be able to drop a massive amount of loot for you once it’s defeated. You and your party members can then collect these items in order to fortify your defenses even more.

Watch Dogs Legion Source Code Leaked By Hackers

wdlegionblog

The source code of Watch Dogs Legion has been leaked by hackers, giving the opportunity for modders to start doing their grisly work. It’s a distinctly appropriate outcome for the game, which boasts a powerful focus on hacking during stealth missions to acquire essential data and unlock advantages in combat. The game is also popular because of its one of a kind NPC recruitment gameplay as every single NPC in Watch Dogs Legion can be recruited to the player’s resistance movement and are totally playable.

This aggressive system gathered a lot of attention when the game was revealed. It was certain that this system could make or break a game as it could lead to an exciting open simulation game or an absolutely chaotic one without a cohesive storyline.

Following the game’s launch last October 29, critics’ reviews actually placed Watch Dogs Legion somewhere in the middle. Players have massively enjoyed the game but were partly disappointed by the recruitment system. There isn’t nearly as much depth as one might have expected from the trailers, but it’s still absolutely functional and provides tons of fun.

watch-dogs-legion-header-672x372-1739985

As players get more indulged in Watch Dogs Legion and its simple handed NPCs, hackers are working nonstop picking the game apart. Reports are emerging that the source code for the game has been leaked online and available to the public.

The file has a size of around 560GB and committed internet pirates can easily download it right now. While the hackers can apparently utilize the code to remove privacy protection and other unfavorable tasks, the more essential result is what this development means for the game modding community. With the source code out in the open, players can begin making all kind of mods to run in the open-world stealth game.

Open world games such as Watch Dogs Legion are always vulnerable targets for the modding community. With such an expansive world with an open-ended progression system, there’s plenty of room to slither any kind of creation wants to have.

There are only several games that exempt from this, even Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild has been modded widely, to the point where someone even integrated a playable Mario Kart inside the game. The video game community is filled with deeply innovative and committed fans, and video game modding is just another way for them to express themselves.

Unlawfully hacking a game is surely not to be encouraged. There are several legal and moral problems to be raised with this kind of behavior. However, the open world of London in Watch Dogs Legion could be an exceptional playground for modders.

Developer Discusses Xbox Series X Major Advantage Over PlayStation 5

0

Quantic Dream’s CEO and founder, David Cage, believes that the Xbox Series X’s shader cores may be unnoticed but is a major advantage over the PlayStation 5. Quantic Dream is famous for developing intense adventure games including Detroit: Become Human and Heavy Rain that placed a heavy focus on player choice and interactive storytelling. David Cage was the writer and director of all of the major releases of Quantic Dream.

As the release of the next-gen consoles quickly approaches, the hype for both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X has achieved a new peak. Recent research broke down console preference per country, according to online sales percentages.

While the research showed that most countries prefer Sony’s next-gen console, including the United States and most parts of Europe, there was no vast majority in either case. Now, an early glimpse at both next-gen consoles also allows for direct comparisons and side-by-side unboxings, which may help decided those who are still hesitant about their choices. For example, the simple design and small size of the Xbox Series X have been praised by those who are bothered by the PlayStation 5’s design and size.

Now, Wccftech is reporting that David Cage revealed that the shader cores of Microsoft’s next-gen console are a major advantage over the PlayStation 5 in a recently concluded interview. Cage discussed that the shader cores are ideal for machine learning, which will allow Microsoft to integrate artificial intelligence capable of in-game rendering.

This operation was correlated to Nvidia’s Deep Learning Super Sampling system which allows an AI system to build high-resolution images from a small number of pixels. The high capacity for machine learning of these shader cores could also allow the development of more advanced AI systems and more realistic animations.

As the classic battle between Xbox and PlayStation transitions to the next generation, a lot of pf players are still undecided over which console suits their needs. A breakdown of the two new machines’ advantages shows that the PlayStation 5 will have more exclusive release games, but the Xbox Series X looks to be more powerful in some areas.

The Xbox Series X contains a more powerful graphics processing unit, while the PlayStation 5 has a faster solid-state drive. The standard edition of the PlayStation5 and the Xbox Series X will also be sold for the same price, and both will also have a cheaper version of themselves with particular key differences. While a lot of praises have been thrown upon the PlayStation 5’s new DualSense controller, the Xbox Series X’s new controller also seems to have received significant improvement over its ancestors.

The next-gen consoles will be releasing next week and a lot of fans are still torn between Sony’s and Microsoft’s new machines. With advantages and disadvantages to both consoles, the choice will likely come down to personalized preference for most fans.

However, David Cage’s revelation that the Xbox Series X’s shader cores and the potential that they can provide for future games might convince some of Microsoft’s next-gen console. Improved animations and advanced rendering technology does seem like very next generation and it is highly likely that Microsoft will take total advantage of this technological leap.

There are a lot of things to be excited about this month, as a lot of video games will be released for fans to download and play. One video game in mind that is set to release this month is Tropico 6, a management simulation game.

While the title has already been released on other storefronts such as Steam before, this upcoming November 6th release is meant for the Nintendo Switch. This was announced during the most recent Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase.

A lot of other things were announced during that Direct Mini as well, such as the free demo for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, the reveal of Bravely Default II’s release date, as well as the coming of Hitman 3.

The Nintendo Switch Edition for Tropico 6 will come with unique content, such as an exclusive palace design, a tourist costume for the infamous “El Presidente,” as well as a “captivating flamingo pond.”

ss_5de618f60881ebcc143c33d152f628c6ae149b5b-1920x1080-2468809

The title is situated on the Caribbean island of Tropico, where players are in charge of controlling a character named El Prez – a ruler who is responsible for managing Tropico and all its affairs.

Leading Tropico to prosperity may seem like a simple thing to do, as you just have to construct and manage things with the click of a mouse. However, what Tropico needs during this time of political and social turmoil is a leader who is fair and brave.

The people need someone who is capable of guiding them through the four different eras, namely The Colonial Era, the World Wars Era, the Cold War Era, and the Modern Era. That being said, you have the power to become the kind of leader you want to be.

In other words, you don’t have to be a fair ruler if you don’t want to be. As a matter of fact, you can become the worst kind of El Prez – one who shirks his duties and slowly introduces a form of dictatorship.

In addition, you will be able to play Tropico 6 on large archipelagos, which is a first-time feature for the series. This time around, you will be tasked to manage more than one island simultaneously, which will definitely increase the number of responsibilities placed on your shoulders.

ss_0549f2698a70ac1136e6e59eacb261aeaf5054f0-1920x1080-8216426

Another new feature introduced to Tropico 6 is the new modes of transportation. Plus, players will find that the title has a couple of brand-new infrastructure possibilities as well, which will definitely expand your horizons as to what you want to build for your nation.

For instance, you are given the chance to build bridges and construct tunnels, all while utilizing different ways to transport your citizens to different locations. Among other things, you can also send out some of your agents to foreign lands, where they are tasked to steal all kinds of monuments and other mementos for your collection.

In addition to that, El Prez has a palace that you can customize in whatever way you want. From your personalized palace’s balcony, you will be able to address your subjects with an election speech that will win their favor.

In other news, Tropico 6 will also be released on Origin Access, EA’s subscription service, this coming November 21. It will be a part of Origin’s list of major releases this month, along with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Need For Speed Heat.

Insomniac Games Confirms Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart Will Be A PlayStation 5 Exclusive

0
ratchet-and-clank-rift-apart

The shocking reveal of Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart saw the comeback of two memorable PlayStation characters, with the robot and the Lombax enveloped by graphics more advanced than the franchise has ever witnessed before. However, the smooth and detailed visuals certainly came at a cost as the game’s developers, Insomniac Games, has announced that Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart will be a PlayStation 5 exclusive.

Despite the studio recently showing love to PlayStation 4 owners by confirming they would still be able to access PlayStation 5’s Spider-Man Remastered suits, Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart will not be available for players on a PlayStation 4.

The game was supposedly developed solely for Sony’s next-gen console to utilize its new features, which could be one of the reasons a current-gen edition was not considered. While 3D Audio and DualSense technology are possibly utilized by the game, the visuals are the reasonable cause of its exclusivity to the PlayStation 5.

With Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart taking advantage of ray tracing and running at 60FPS, it is apparent that the game will not run properly on the PlayStation 4. However, it is worth noting that Insomniac Games has yet to give players an official press release stating the reason why the game is exclusive to the PlayStation 5.

The news came from the developer’s official Twitter account replying to a fan who asked if the latest installment to the Ratchet and Clank franchise would be released on the PlayStation 4 as well. The developer’s short reply of “it’s a PS5 exclusive” is all fans were provided in response, leaving them to come up with their own speculations as to why this has become the case.

This announcement, while not totally unexpected, could be regarded by fans as Sony discontinuing the PlayStation 4 for the PlayStation 5 despite Sony’s CEO stating that this will never happen. However, with another PlayStation higher up revealing that they “believe in generations,” it appears like the company is advancing their exclusives on a case by case basis.

Sackboy: A Big Adventure and Spider-Man: Miles Morales might be cross-platform, but games such as Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart will make use of the full capability of the PlayStation 5 and will only be playable on the next-gen console.

While it is unknown how gamers will respond to this announcement, Ratchet and Clank fans that are planning to buy a PlayStation 5 certainly has a lot to look forward to. With the game’s gameplay showcased at Gamescom showing its new combat system and portal focused traversal, and the original trailer reveal introducing a new Lombax to the game, longtime fans of the franchise will certainly be happy to see how the game has evolved along with the PlayStation console.

With no official launch date yet, fans will probably get more updates on the upcoming game in the near future.
