Whilst there are many who would debate the best ways to earn WoW Classic gold, or how to find the best WoW Classic items, there are other heated topics that often revolve around raids. Specifically, which ones are more difficult than others.

In this article, we will be discussing Ahn’Qiraj, often known as AQ40, and what you will need to do to overcome what is considered to be by many ones of the hardest raids in the entirety of WoW Classic.

What is AQ40? 

AQ40 is a 40-man raid that takes place in the south of Silithus. This raid was not available until Ahn’Qiraj War Effort was completed, which was a server-wide event. This would end with Gates of Ahn’Qiraj, in which one player at least would need to ring the Scarab Gong, which would then start the event and give out the Black Qiraji Resonating Crystal as well.

AQ40 plays host to nine bosses in total, three of which are optional. Its final boss is C’Thun, which we will look at in more detail shortly. There are a number of mounts that can be found and used inside the temple, as well as new armour sets being made available to craft when Qiraji Tokens, Idols and Scarabs are collected.

What makes it so difficult? 

There is one outstanding reason that this raid is considered to be harder than others, and that’s its final boss, C’Thun. Before reaching this battle, there are several bosses to overcome. This includes The Prophet Skeram, Battleguard Sartura, Fankriss the Unyielding, Princess Huhuran, and Twin Emperors. There’s also the optional bosses known as Bug Trio, Viscidus, and Ouro.

The Final Boss

As mentioned, C’Thun is the final boss for AQ40, who is one of the old five gods of the game, who has been stripped of his full power and settled in the desert of Silithus. This would see the boss slowly be surely using his power of manipulation to form his own army. But what is it that makes this boss so difficult, therefore making this one of the toughest raids to beat?

C’Thun is without a doubt one of the most iconic bosses of the entirety of World of Warcraft. The reason being is that was upon a time, C’Thun was in fact considered to be mathematically impossible by now WoW game director Ion Hazzikostas. Many will be able to tell tales of woe playing against C’Thun, ranging from gear not being any use to not being able to have 40 players at one time not AFKing during the battle, and the size of the room for that many people was far less than ideal. There was even a bug that led many to believe that C’Thun couldn’t be beaten whatsoever.

Thankfully for those attempting to overcome the boss, he was in fact fixed so he could finally be beaten. Nevertheless, C’Thun is still considered to be the catalyst of what makes AQ40 the hardest raid in WoW Classic. This isn’t just to say that the final boss was the only reason as to why the raid is so difficult. After all, even back then only a small percentage of players were able to make their way to C’Thun in the first place.

There will be those who argue that there are harder raids than this one, which is completely fair. But it was certainly a moment in time that is now the stuff of legend, and something that also still challenges players more than nearly anything else in WoW Classic.

Needless to say, there’s a lot to look into when getting started, but fear not. This short guide will give you a better idea of how to start off in the popular ARPG title.

Choosing your character

There are seven different kinds of characters that you can choose from in Path of Exile. Firstly, there’s the Duelist, who Is a melee-focused character that can summon an AI minion to help out. Then there’s the Templar, which can fireballs of lightning and other projectiles. The Witch meanwhile is a powerful female spellcaster equipped with high intelligence, and the Ranger wields a bow as well as swords. There’s another helpful melee character with Marauder, which boasts heavy strength. Shadow is more of a fighter that uses intelligence and dexterity, and Scion is able to adapt to any PoE build.

Ultimately, choosing your character is vital in the sense that it needs to cater to your playstyle. However, there are options for you to have extra character slots, so you do have the chance to switch between them.

Selecting a League

Your next step is to select a League. These options will change the way in which you play the game. To start off with, your best bet is to use the Standard option. Once you get more familiar, you can move onto Hardcore, in which you will need to avoid dying, and if you do succumb to death you will be sent down to Standard. Then there are Challenge leagues, which offer you special rewards, and tend to take place for three months or so. Finally, you have Solo Self Found, which removes the co-op option.

Gaining New Skills 

How you gain skills can be a bit confusing. You have a skill grid, with each class starting in a different part of it. These skills can take you to the starting point, via a different path. To unlock skills, you can use skill gems. There are skill gems for new attacks, spells, and other features. Then there are support gems that can be used for buffs and other variants for your character.

These gems can be used by any class. Having said that, each has a particular stat requirement in order to be used. You can level them up by partaking in quests and killing enemies as many times as you like. There’s also loot to consider, which revolves around you collecting stuff you find. It is color-coded depending on how rare it is. You can probably avoid white items, but blue, yellow, and orange could be worth something.

Be Strong!

One of the most important pieces of advice that can be given is for you to make your character as strong as possible, and stay alive as much as you can. Yes! it sounds obvious, but there are particular reasons when it comes to Path of Exile. Your health doesn’t regenerate, even though your mana will. Even though your mana does return, you should make sure to keep an eye on both. With that in mind, get yourself a decent flask. The better it is, the more it will help you out in the long run.

When playing Old School RuneScape for the first time, there is a lot for you to get your head around. You are bound to hear a lot of phrases that may confuse you surrounding many features of the popular MMO. This often surrounds the game’s currency, with the likes of OSRS gold, OSRS gold buying, and OSRS gold selling often doing the rounds. But fear not, as these top tips will help you get started on your way to being a full-blown adventurer in the world of Old School Runescape.

Getting Started

At first, you will find yourself on Tutorial Island, where you will learn the ins and outs of the game. Here, you can select a name for your character, before customizing them. You will then find NPCs that have yellow arrows above them, and they will inform you of the basics that you need to know to get started.

When you get to the end of the tutorial, you will be asked if you want to be an Ironman. This isn’t something that you should necessarily opt for at this stage since it won’t let you trade with other players, so choose not to at this time.

Memberships

You have the option to either have a paid membership or free-to-play. Those who have an active membership will gain access to far more content, which includes a bigger world, with many more quests, and more skills to train.

As for those who do not have a membership, there is still a fair amount of content to enjoy in the early game. This drifts away a bit more as you reach the mid-game, where you will want to look into having a membership to enjoy more content.

Skills 

There are a number of different skills to train in OSRS. For free-to-play players, you will have 15 skills that are divided into combat, gathering, and artisanal. Your combat skills include Attack, Strength, Defence, Ranged, Magic, Hitpoints, and Prayer. Gathering skills meanwhile are Mining, Fishing, and Woodcutting. Then there are Artisian skills, which include Runecrafting, Crafting, Smithing, Cooking, and Firemaking.

When it comes to combat, you will need to focus on Strength to make the most of a melee approach. You will also want to make sure you look into Attack to keep your accuracy as high as possible. For ranged combat, you will obviously be focusing on your Ranged level and will want to research the best ammunition to use. Then there’s magic-based damage, which draws focus to your Magic level, which also has an impact on your accuracy. As players participate in combat, they will earn XP whenever they do damage. You can earn more XP via Magic spells too, which is rewarded regardless of whether it hits or not.

Equipment Stats 

When you get gear, it will be accompanied by certain statistics that affect a number of variables. This includes accuracy bonuses which will improve your chances of hitting your opponent. There are strength bonuses to increase the damage you inflict and defense bonuses that will increase your chances of blocking certain attacks. Then there’s also the prayer bonus, which will slow down the decay of prayer points.

Beyond the Tutorial

Once you have finished the tutorial, you will be sent to Lumbridge Castle where you will receive basic supplies for your inventory. You can then deposit your items if you choose to, and get ready to start playing. To do so, you can train combat by killing the many inhabitants of Lumbridge, such as goblins, chickens, and cows. Alternatively, you could choose to train in non-combat skills, or even take part in nearby quests.
