Riot Forge Announces Delay of Ruined King: A League of Legends Story

According to a recent announcement by Riot Forge, the release of Ruined King: A League of Legends Story is going to be delayed. League of Legends players who were looking forward to the upcoming RPG will have to wait until later in 2021 before they get to experience the game.

This sad announcement came the night before the highly-anticipated The Game Awards 2020, which is somewhat ironic given the fact that Ruined King was initially revealed during last year’s event.

Originally, Riot Forge claimed that the RPG would be available and ready to play by “Early 2021,” but a new update on the game’s official Twitter states that this has been changed to simply “Coming 2021.”

https://twitter.com/RiotForge/status/1337079630109392898?s=20

League of Legends is one of the most popular multiplayer titles on the market, so much so that Worlds 2020 had millions of simultaneous viewers. So when it was revealed that the developer was working on a single-player set in the same universe, it definitely came as a surprise to fans.

Unlike the online battle arena, Ruined King: A League of Legends Story will be an immersive turn-based roleplaying game instead. Like most RPG titles, this one also allows players to create and customize their party of familiar League of Legends champions as they explore the different areas of Runeterra like the Shadow Isles and Bilgewater.

Just like with other studios, 2020 was a difficult year for Riot Forge. The events of this year caused a slew of complications and obstacles for the development of Ruined King. Video game delays aren’t uncommon, especially this year when the COVID-19 pandemic caused so many titles to get pushed back.

Given that the timeline for the release window has been changed, it’s safe to assume that the upcoming title just isn’t ready to be released yet and needs a bit more time for necessary adjustments to be implemented. Of course, Riot Forge wants to release a game that’s on par with developer Airship Syndicate’s vision and expectations.

screenshot-www-youtube-com-2020-12-11-08_52_26

Fans may understandably be saddened by this turn of events, but Riot Forge states that it wants to be as honest and transparent as possible about how the game’s development is going. We commend it for its honesty though, especially since many publishers and/or developers out there have a tendency to release information that leads to fans having unrealistic expectations.

Other titles in Riot’s repertoire, such as League of Legends and Valorant, have seen incredible success since its launch. The delay, in this case, begins to make even more sense because the company, of course, wouldn’t want to release a bad game and disappoint its community.

Riot Games has always focused on releasing multiplayer games, so the fact that it’s beginning to delve into single-player titles could be one of its strategies to boost its playerbase.

For those who don’t know, Riot Forge is a publishing label by Riot Games, and it partners with third-party developers such as Airship Syndicate, in this case. This announcement may be a letdown but on the bright side, Riot Forge is committed to transparency which isn’t something that fans always get from companies.

Among Us Is 2020 Most Popular Game According to Google

maxresdefault-8-6

As one of the biggest gaming phenomenon of 2020, Among Us has become more famous than any other video game title released this year, including extremely anticipated titles such as The Last of Us Part 2. Among Us now appears to be something of a household name when it comes to the gaming community, and millions of casual gamers, content creators, and streamers have joined the fun bus on an endless source of innovation and fun.

Among Us stayed in some type of fame purgatory for most of its early life, having a decent player base between its release back in 2018 and the summer of this year. However, as the development team from InnerSloth continued to invest an exorbitant amount of effort and time into enhancing a then unpopular title, 2020 became Among Us’ lucky year, overshadowing hit titles like PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.

among-us-googletrends-screenshot-2760458

The timing of Among Us’ incredible rise to popularity is also no coincidence, as fun games such as Jackbox and Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout also did immense work in terms of providing light-hearted fun to millions of players otherwise quarantined by the current coronavirus pandemic. Furthermore, Among Us has given a colossal amount of fan-requested content such as videos, mods, drawings, and animations.

Based on Google Trends Year in Search 2020, Among Us is the most searched video game on the most used search engine in the world. This places Among Us in front of (in descending order) Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, Valorant, Genshin Impact, The Last of Us Part II, Ghost of Tsushima, FIFA 21, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Call of Duty: Warzone, and Dragon Quest Walk.

While Google Trends does not particularly mention that Among Us had the most hours played and the most number of concurrent players compared to any game this year, it’s not a big stretch to come to a decision that the number of searches – along with the totally inevitable presence of the game last summer – can equal such incomparable level of popularity.

Among Us’ place in terms of maximum popularity has no doubt come and gone, provided that its fame peaked between September 27 and October 3 of this year, but the impact it has created is irrefutable. Titles such as The Last of Us Part 2 captivated a large number of gamers with its high-quality design, colossal anticipation, and the controversy which followed its release. Fall Guys encouraged much of the same outflow of innovation that Among Us did. However, neither of the two games was able to achieve the same following as Among Us.

It is uncertain what will replace Among Us, though it’s clear that something will come along which will become the next big thing in the industry. However, as the year nears its end, among all the madness, self-isolation, and political turmoil, many will also remember that fulfilling feeling of successfully indicting and kicking out an innocent crewmate.

Steam Introduces New Adult Only Section

Valve is implementing a brand-new Steam experiment wherein the platform’s browsing options have been updated, making the act of searching for video game titles easier and more concise than ever before. In line with this, the new Steam Lab experiment introduces a new section that is specifically and explicitly made for categorizing games that have sex in it.

Long-time Steam users are familiar with Valve frequently experimenting and changing up the digital storefront in order to improve and finetune the platform. For instance, Steam recently launched a playtest feature for early game testing. This was definitely a great update to introduce to the platform, as it allowed developers to have their own playtests.

That being said, this new and revamped browsing option breaks down the different Steam categories into specifics. They’re significantly more granular this time around compared to the previous categories, as it consists of not only major genres but subgenres as well.

screenshot-store-steampowered-com-2020-12-10-21_31_03

For example, the major genre that is RPG is then broken down to more specific genres, such as  “survival horror” or “action-RPG.” At the same time, the way it works allows players to find a specific game like Resident Evil 3, for example, within both categories.

The experiment doesn’t restrict itself to just genres, though — players can also go ahead and search for games using a variety of themes as keywords. Some examples of this would be “medieval” or perhaps “science fiction.” In any case, Steam goes into detail about this experiment in one of its announcements.

That being said, there’s one thing that Steam didn’t bother to mention, and that’s the Adults Only special section. There are a few things that players need to enable first before this option is available to them. For one thing, they first need to take part in the Steam Labs experiment. Secondly, they need to have enabled adult content in their Steam account.

After these requirements are met, Steam users will find a brand-new categories menu, which has a special section on the left side containing the Adult Only section. Those whose curiosity has been tickled and proceed to click will find a slew of mature and pornographic-related video games.

There are some pretty silly-sounding adult titles there, such as Among Ass, BustyBiz, Booty Calls, and so much more.

screenshot-store-steampowered-com-2020-12-10-22_28_46

Steam’s decision to revamp the way gamers can browse titles in this organized fashion is definitely a good move on Valve’s part, and we assume that this format will remain for years to come simply for how convenient and easy it makes things.

Asides from that, it ensures that NSFW and other adult-themed games won’t be mixed in with regular games. Children and teenagers aren’t the only demographic for video games these days, after all. Times are constantly changing, and more and more adults between 35 through over 60 are statistically seen to be playing video games now more than ever.

As a result, we can see why creating a separate section for adult games is necessary, asides from the fact that doing so ensures that children and minors won’t stumble upon them while browsing the rest of the tags.

Ghost of Tsushima Wins The Game Awards 2020 Player’s Voice Award

0

The votes have been heard, and Sucker Punch Productions’ Ghost of Tsushima has obtained this year’s Player’s Voice Award of The Game Awards. While the majority of the world premiere trailers and the rest of the awards will still be announced later this Thursday at the grand ceremony, the fan-voted Player’s Voice award is an early glimpse of what fans were searching for in terms of their choices for the best game released in 2020.

There was a tight competition with a few contenders including PlayStation exclusive The Last of Us Part 2, but the open-world legendary samurai title inched out the zombie-slaying tearjerker when everything was said and done.

The annual Game Awards is celebrated by the gaming industry before each year ends by producer and host Geoff Keighley since 2014. It is the evolution of the Video Game Awards, a similar awards show that Keighley hosted for several years on Spike TV.

Hosting a show online has its ups and downs, presenting to fans all over the world with everything can be a real pain. Through it all, while some denounce its place in the industry as just another E3-level marketing strategy, there are just as many who got carried away in the whole industry coming together to celebrate the year that was.

With the voting that happened in the week prior to the actual Game Awards, Ghost of Tsushima defeated every nominee in the list to take home one of the year’s first major awards. Sucker Punch’s latest endeavor is also nominated in seven other categories on the main show including Best Performance, Best Action/Adventure, and The Game of the Year.

In these categories, the Ghost of Tsushima is facing against many of the same titles it was going up on Player’s Voice such as Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Hades, and Doom Eternal. The Game Awards 2020 will likely be another blast for the award winners as well as a night of excitement thanks to game reveals as the event has attracted several popular celebrities as presenters on awards night.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iczfPmQteeg

From the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Captain Marvel’s Brie Larson will be accompanied by Tom Holland from the Spider-Man films. Tom Holland will also be playing the role of a young Nathan Drake in the upcoming Uncharted movie.

From the DC movies, Gal Gadot will be presenting during the awards night just before her latest film, Wonderwoman 1984, will premiere on cinemas and HBO Max. Aside from Hollywood celebrities, other presenters’ names include Jacksepticeye, Reggie Fils-Aime, and Stephen A. Smith will take the stage to present trophies to the deserving nominees.

More Content Is Heading To Among Us This December Besides New Map

0
screenshot-play-google-com-2020-12-10-17_37_33

It appears that December is a big month for InnerSloth and Among Us fans alike. Not only will the game introduce a brand-new map, but the developer has also teased that “even more secret things” are headed to the online social deduction game.

While we have no information just yet about what this new content could be, InnerSloth did say on Twitter that more details will be revealed soon, specifically this December. In the past, the three-person developer InnerSloth released a couple of updates that involved hats and pet companions.

While the latter does nothing for your character and the game in general, it’s still adorable to have a little buddy accompanying you as you do your tasks. Speaking of which, an Among Us and Twitch collaboration was announced a few days ago, giving players a chance to earn a free Glitch pet. The free pet is based directly on the streaming platform’s logo, and the opportunity to obtain one is only available for a limited time.

https://twitter.com/AmongUsGame/status/1336733577292242946?s=20

That being said, this month of December is a significant one for the online multiplayer Among Us, as it has been previously announced that the new map will be revealed during The Game Awards 2020.

According to InnerSloth, the new map will be heavily based on another game it developed and released this year called The Henry Stickmin Collection. This title, for those who don’t know, consists of several mini-games reminiscent of the mini-games found on the nostalgic Newgrounds website .

Without a doubt, Among Us is one of this year’s most popular games — two years after its initial release. It has become so popular that it was on Twitch’s top 10 streamed games — and stayed there — for a couple of months throughout the year.

The title has even reached the world of politics, with US Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez playing and streaming the game with other notable YouTube and Twitch personalities for charity.

Needless to say, the stream was a huge success and they were able to raise $200,000, which was then donated to different charities that aimed to help people impacted by COVID-19.

With the game’s still-growing popularity, more and more fans are hoping for particular additions in the game that will make its gameplay even better. Although InnerSloth previously announced that it will be implementing additional language support, which includes Portuguese, German, French, and more, fans also want an in-game voice chat that depends on the players’ proximity to each other.

At the moment, many Among Us players utilize third-party software in order to implement this kind of feature to the title. More specifically, players have been using a proximity chat mod, which allows players to converse with one another without having to wait for a dead body report or emergency meetings. It definitely makes the game more challenging for both crewmates and impostors alike.

In any case, InnerSloth hasn’t revealed when the additional language support will be included either, but fans assume that it will be a part of the announcements slated for this month.

Prince of Persia The Sands of Time Remake Postponed After Fans’ Unfavorable Feedback

maxresdefault-7-9

After disappointing feedback of the upcoming game’s graphics and one Ubisoft branch jumping the gun a few days ago, the development team has formally announced that the Prince of Persia The Sands of Time Remake has been postponed.

After numerous speculations, Ubisoft finally disclosed its plans to remake its iconic game Prince of Persia The Sands of Time at the Ubisoft Forward event a few months ago. The hit title initially debuted back in 2003 to critical acclaim, but all have not received well with the coming remake almost decades later.

While the Prince of Persia games are not as productive as the other series under Ubisoft such as Assassin’s Creed, the longstanding franchise has a dedicated gaming community behind it. Most recently, the titular Prince of Persia was featured in For Honor as part of an exclusive event as well as in Ubisoft’s VR Escape Room, Prince of Persia The Dagger of Time.

However, these cameos are not what fans of the franchise are after, and the latter game was met with decent critical and player responses. The leak and the following reveal of the Prince of Persia The Sands of Time Remake was a welcome turn of events for players, epitomizing the hype that the original provided during its launch 17 years ago, but many held skepticism after the game’s graphics didn’t appear to be on par with what fans come to expect for a game in 2020.

Sadly for those expecting a January release of the remake of Prince of Persia The Sands of Time, they will have to wait a little longer. After a recent leak on a now-removed post on Facebook, an official announcement posted on the Prince of Persia Twitter account has been disclosed, verifying that the game will be pushed back by several months.

Mentioning that “2020 has been a year like no other,” the post goes on to explain that the game’s developers of Prince of Persia The Sands of Time Remake will need more time to polish the game and “ensure we deliver a game you like.” The post then continues to thank its dedicated fans for their “patience and continued support,” revealing that the new release date for the game will be on March 18, 2021.

The game’s delay to March is not a considerable one in the grand scheme of things, especially when compared to other games delayed this year. Crunch culture has become unfortunately commonplace within the video game industry, with developers like CD Projekt Red and Naughty Dog recently coming under fire for their unhealthy work environments to get games launched in time. While Ubisoft has yet to reach its own moment in the industry’s increasing crunch spotlight, there have been some reports of abuse and misconduct within the company this year.

PlayStation 5s Getting Stolen By Gangs Straight From Delivery Trucks In The UK

New reports indicate that stealing PlayStation 5s continues to be a problem in the United Kingdom, with gangs now heading these operations that see them steal the next-gen console straight from delivery trucks in a move identical to heist movies.

The launch of the PlayStation 5 has been chaotic across the world due to stock shortages that have witnessed a plethora of disappointed fans waiting for another opportunity to secure a console, but things have been particularly precarious in the region.

The PlayStation launch in the United Kingdom started with the same issues everyone else experienced, with new system preorders lacking and scalpers using bots to purchase the items faster than an average customer buying the console online.

ps5-preorder-sony-plaza-low-yat-01-1913610

Things started spiraling down once the deliveries rolled out, with several consumers reporting getting totally different products than a PlayStation 5. Following this incident, it was broadcasted on national TV that an Amazon delivery driver runs off with the PlayStation 5 console of a customer and that a UK-based scalper group had successfully obtained more than 3000 PlayStation 5 units during the initial preorders with the sole intent of reselling them for outrageous prices. Just recently, a trade-in retailer, also from the United Kingdom, came under fire for selling the PlayStation 5 by double its suggested retail price.

Now, a new report from UK’s The Time has revealed that PlayStation 5 theft continues to be a problem, and the robbers are getting more innovative, too. The report explains a modus called “rollover” being utilized by gangs to acquire a PlayStation 5 illegally, which involves the use of cars to trap delivery trucks as they are moving and then having one of the thieves scale their own car before breaking into the moving delivery truck, stealing everything inside.

154683-homepage-news-playstation-takes-over-london-underground-for-uk-ps5-launch-best-stunt-since-oxo-tower-image1-ueqehtflig-6356692

Supposedly, this modus has already been existing for a couple of months, with 27 cases reported since September. However, the report mentioned that crimes have risen in the past few weeks because of pre-holiday deliveries. Things have allegedly gotten worse that authorities warned delivery companies of the modus and how to prevent it.

This era’s next-gen consoles have been released into an environment that looks to continuously churn out problems for those who badly want to secure them, and PlayStation 5 thefts from moving trucks are only somewhat shocking provided how frustrating the experience has already been for fans. Most of these problems could be resolved by restocking Sony’s new consoles, but those don’t appear to be coming anytime soon, at least in huge numbers.

Grand Theft Auto Online Releases New Trailer for Cayo Perico Heist

0
screenshot-www-youtube-com-2020-12-10-15_04_36

Those who have been keeping themselves updated with Grand Theft Auto Online news know by now that the game is set to release a new update called the Cayo Perico Heist. The update — and the tropical island adventure that comes with it — will be available on December 15.

As you may have guessed, the heist is going to take place in Cayo Perico, a luxurious private island where the rich and famous get together to party like there’s no tomorrow. However, the island may be beautiful and seemingly carefree, but there are agendas and hidden secrets underneath it all.

Home to El Rubio, the top narcotrafficker in the GTA Online universe, there’s more to Cayo Perico than meets the eye. Rockstar Games touts the upcoming expansion to be “the biggest GTA Online adventure ever,” which is really saying something.

Of course, an update this significant wouldn’t feel right without a new map, and players will instantly notice this new location in the trailer. To change things up a bit, Rockstar Games has made some changes to how heists in GTA Online work.

In Cayo Perico Heist, players can either do things alone or with the help of three other players. It may not seem like much, but core adjustments such as this could prove to be a significant update that changes the game for the better, making the upcoming Cayo Perico Heist worth playing.

If that alone doesn’t catch your interest, the upcoming update is expected to add a slew of new features and content to the game. For instance, Cayo Perico will be home to a variety of new weapons and vehicles, which players can make use of during the heist.

Asides from the fact that a brand-new underground nightclub will be introduced in this update, there will be new radio stations available as well that will play over 100 songs, giving players a lot of music options to dance and party to while on the island. What’s more, there’s going to be a weaponized submarine! Need I say more?

It doesn’t come as a surprise that GTA Online, despite being out for several years now, still continues to see success, and it’s all thanks to new updates such as this one that further improve the game’s experience.

screenshot-www-youtube-com-2020-12-10-15_05_34

By introducing a completely new map for this expansion, Rockstar Games is indirectly showing its fans that it’s still more than willing to put in a lot of effort in the online game. Plus, the changes Rockstar has made to the game are advantageous to the player because it gives them the flexibility needed in order to fully enjoy the additional content.

That being said, some fans are beginning to feel like Grand Theft Auto Online is overstaying its welcome, especially since the online title is turning seven this year. As most of us know, the gaming industry has already moved on from the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, with the latest consoles now being the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5.

In other words, the fact that Rockstar Games is putting in a lot of time and effort into GTA Online means that the developer now has less time to work on a brand-new Grand Theft Auto title.

Halo Infinite Release Date Will Be Sometime In Fall 2021

maxresdefault-6-8

343 Industries has finally confirmed a release window for Halo Infinite which will be coming sometime in fall 2021. This is great news for deprived fans of the terribly delayed game, who have been living in torture from the scarcity of updates.

These players were surely in need of good news like this; not only have updates on Halo Infinite gone silent, but the development studio has also been continuously losing a few essential employees, putting the future of the game in chaos.

Microsoft put a lot of trust in Halo Infinite. Half a decade after the launch of the last entry in the hit FPS series, the new game was lauded as a bold new experience on the Xbox Series X and was supposed to be the next-gen console’s defining release title.

dataimagejpegbase649j4aaqskzjrgabaqaaaqabaad2wbdaa-19c77046983d9d6878853137d9734e80-8419107

Sadly, when its gameplay was shown back in July, fans were disappointed, and this frustrating feedback forced developer 343 Industries to delay the game, drawing more controversy and depriving the Xbox Series X of its most popular game.

The extremely anticipated shooting game was instantly cast into the depths of development hell, and PR for the game only got worse. In addition to losing major staff members, including the game director himself, the game has gained criticism for utilizing overpriced DLC expansions and pushing through with cross-promotions even before the game is released.

However, through all the frustrations and controversies, the game finally has progressed as reported on a news post on Halo Waypoint delivering the good news to fans. According to the update, Halo Infinite will be releasing next year in the fall season.

Microsoft even had to renounce several claims that Halo Infinite wouldn’t be released until 2022, and this update puts the final nail in that rumor’s coffin. In addition to the news about the game’s release window, the news also includes a few in-depth interviews with specific individuals from the development team talking about how they have been doing during the delay.

https://twitter.com/BRGaming/status/1336460267765415936

For example, the art team has acknowledged the negative response they received from July’s gameplay showcase and explained in detail the multiple ways they have been working on to enhance the game.

A year of delay is pretty shocking for a game like Halo Infinite but regardless of how far along the game looked when it was featured in July, there’s a lot fans still don’t know. For example, there are speculations that Halo Infinite is going to have a battle royale mode, which has been a very common trend in multiplayer shooting games these days. These speculations have already been dismissed by a representative from the development team, but they are symbolic of just how unaware fans are.

Hopefully, now that fans have at least an idea when to expect Halo Infinite, the days of baseless rumors will start to come to an end. In the months leading up to the release date, 343 Industries will hopefully reveal more details about what players can anticipate from the finished game.

Fans have been waiting for a lengthy period of time for Halo Infinite. They can now rest easy in the fact that wait is nearer to being over than ever before.

Valorant Players Speculate That VFX Bug Might Be New Agent Teaser

0
icebox_bunkera_v2

After the highly-successful launch of Riot Games’ Valorant, the first-person shooter has finally begun wading into the world of competitive gaming. Valorant had its first Riot-hosted competition recently called the First Strike Tournament, with the 100 Thieves winning the event.

That being said, one thing that the game hasn’t really divulged in great detail about is its story. Although, this is completely understandable given the fact that Valorant is an arena shooter and this genre is one of the most difficult when it comes to implementing an ongoing narrative.

However, one recent discovery by a fan could change things. More specifically, one Valorant player came across a strange effect that could possibly hint that a new Agent is making its way to the game.

One thing you need to keep in mind is that the free-to-play multiplay is bound for a new patch. Some of the changes implemented in the game thanks to patch 1.14 have to do with the new Icebox map as well as Sage’s Wall, which are two things that many players have been having trouble with.

Speaking of Icebox, it was on this particular map where the aforementioned effect (or possibly glitch) was noticed. Right before a match started, a player left the spawn zone only to stumble upon numerous dark-blue eruptions from the snowy ground.

In addition to that, these eruptions sounded like footsteps or like someone walking on snow-covered ground, while it visually looked like an invisible person was splashing through some kind of dark liquid.

As expected, Valorant players replied to the tweet with speculations about what that bizarre effect could be. Some say that it’s possibly a glitch caused by a coming patch. However, it doesn’t seem possible for a glitch to look, act, and sound like something as specific as those footsteps.

The last time Valorant had a glitch of that capacity relating to a patch, Riot Games quickly rolled back the patch in question just so they could fix it. As a matter of fact, the developer even went so far as to call it a “nightmare” of an update.

That being said, there’s another possibility and more players are hoping for this theory to be true. Players speculate that the effect could be Riot Games’ way of teasing a new Agent. After all, a few leakers have already said before that the developer will be releasing a brand-new Agent at some point, and these phantom footsteps could be an indication of their arrival in the game.

Although if this is truly a hint at an upcoming Agent, we’re not exactly sure what Riot is trying to convey about the character. For one thing, it could mean that the new Agent will have some kind of ability that will render them invisible, or perhaps a misdirection ability.

Many video game titles have already extensively utilized visual misdirection, but auditory misdirection, on the other hand, is not as used. Maybe the Agent — if the effect truly pertains to one — is a character that is somehow connected to Icebox, a map that many players don’t like and want removed.

In any case, we’ll have to wait for Riot Games to make an official announcement regarding this, as the developer has always been known for bizarre marketing tactics such as this.
